Stopped into Choolaah on W 25th in Ohio City for a quick lunch. I'd been once years ago in another city and decided to give it another try while passing by hungry. You can order either at the front counter or through a self-serve kiosk. I chose the kiosk and honestly wish I had ordered at the front. I ordered a half masala, half rice, a piece of naan, plus two drinks--a mango lassi and a flavored lemonade. When I tried to check out, the kiosk wouldn't let me complete the order. The girl working said it was probably because I added drinks and ended up checking those out separately, which felt a little clunky. The food itself was flavorful and satisfying. Not the best Indian food I've ever had, but it definitely did the trick for lunch. The space is super cute with great ambiance and decor--bright, modern, and inviting. What an amazing experience I had today! I believe her name was Savannah the girl at the register she was awesome. Made the bowl even better. Very welcoming explained the menu was able to give me flavor suggestions this bowl was so fresh. The flavors were amazing. They worked so well together she recommended the sauce that I got on the side. It really reminded me of something I've never had before if that makes sense I would definitely recommend coming here. They have in store seating very open. I also got one of those ginger lemonade! So fresh if you like ginger, you'll love it. If you don't I recommend the mango I was able to sample both. Not badly priced except the sides Pav Bhaji was literally $10 for 3 toasted white bread buns and a small amount of chopped Serrano and chopped onion like... what? lol The tofu salad bowl was insanely delicious. We have visited Choolaah on several occasions, so I feel like I have a pretty good feel for this restaurant. The ordering process is not simple and requires assistance from the server on your first visit. There are probably more choices than is necessary. Once you get the hang of it, it's not that bad. On to the food... Choolaah is not fancy. The dining area is simple and usually quiet, However, that should not be interpreted to mean the flavors, heat and spices aren't wonderful. They can make your food mild and they can make it super hot. The choice is really yours. Regardless of what you order, you are going to be pleased with the quality of the proteins and complexity of the flavors. Every meal we have had a Choolaah has been satisfying and filling. The naan is fresh baked and is a highlight of the meal. Dipped in the chickpeas, or one of the sauces, the naan does not disappoint. Regardless of the meal you select, please make sure you get a side of the chickpeas. It is that good. In fact, my wife and I have stopped at Choolaah and only ordered the naan and a side of chickpeas. Try them and you will understand. The only draw back to Choolaah is the confusing ordering process and that you are limited to the number of sauces that comes with your meal. That said, the food more than makes up for the issues. A great, interesting restaurant with good-tasting food, fast service, and a ton of food for an extremely affordable price of $45 combined with a friend (see picture below). We recently went here for a weeknight dinner and we were able to place and receive our large order in 10 minutes. We each got our own mains and shared whole wheat and plain naan, mini samosas, and pav bhaj. All were fantastic, especially the naans. I got a Choolaah bowl with chicken, rice, vegetables and spicy sauces. The portion size was great, plenty of well-cooked chicken, and a good ratio of other ingredients to the chicken. Love having an Indian version of chipotle in Ohio city with plenty of parking lot options. I love that they have mango lassi and fresh naan here ( I do wish the naan was more buttery). Prices do add up since naan and a lot of other sides aren't included but worth it as a casual but nice treat for yourself. Lamb up-charge I personally don't think is worth it....it was $3 extra and it was dry. The spicy chicken is moist though and does have quick the kick which I loved! read more

Absolutely love Choolaah for an Indian flare on to go food, it hits the spot. So many options for every dietary restriction. The lady who works up front is so sweet. I've visited this location multiple times and am always greeted with a smile. She makes my day better sometimes. I usually get a wrap of some sort. The chickpea wrap is my favorite. Yum and yum. I have walked and driven by this location countless times without a single clue about the delicious joy that awaited inside. A friend shared her meal from Choolah with me one day and I was wide eyed once I saw her yummy plate. I enjoyed it so much - especially the generous portions and flavorful menu options - and have been back twice in the past couple of weeks (don't judge!). Heads up that one meal is honestly enough for 2 or to at least split between lunch and dinner. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the naan bread which is so disappointing because it's usually the more naan, the better. However, Choolah's naan has a heaping sprinkling of black sesame seeds on which ruins it for me. Personal preference though. Thus far I have only tried the chicken but look forward to tasting some of their other protein options. Also, if you love spicy, this is the place for you. I am a man on the run. Living on borrowed time. I do not often have time for the pageantry of sitting at a table or bar, having a server wait on me. Time waits for no man. I come to Choolaah when I want some Indian food on the run. The OMG sauce is pretty hot. I like to do the bowl with roasted veggies and chicken. Seems healthy and for around $13 it isn't a bad deal. Was pleasantly surprised by this little gem! The decor is amazing, the place was very clean, & love that you can actually watch them preparing some of the food in the back if you sit in the middle part of the restaurant. They do have amazing menu design so everything's very clear with good descriptions of what's in the food because I've never had Indian before and brought my two kids there on a whim ... I was a little nervous! BUT - they both loved it! And I'm an Italian cook, so all these spices were alll new to them! The menu gives you so many varieties - so you pick your bowl base (vegan, gf, v is marked on everything and there's options). There's two kids meal options, and the soups that you can choose with the bowl are also available as a side. Price point was great. We got door dash a week ago. My husband had a chicken dish & I had a paneer dish. About 2 hours after he ate, he was deathly ill which included throwing up. We have ordered from the Ohio City location multiple times and have had no issues. We are certain he had food poisoning. He was up all night long, just sick. I sent feedback on their website & was waiting to hear back before writing a review, but they have not responded. We will never eat here again. Choolaah is fantastic! My friend and I went in to try it out, both of us for our first time. The girl at the counter walked us through the process on how you order, it's similar to Chipotle, but with Indian food! The prices are a little high, but you get so much food that it makes it worth it! Our food did take a bit of time to come out, especially for my friend, but they apologized and gave her a free entrée for next time! The customer service here was great!! In addition, the food was delicious!! I ordered a Choolaah bowl with basmati rice, chicken, and tikka masala, with naan (of course), and it was all so flavorful!! As an Indian, trying out Indian food automatically brings out the inner food critic in you involuntarily - cos heyy thats the cuisine I grew up with! So I had initially tried choolah when they launched was back when a few years ago and wasn't too impressed but with this new menu I don't have any complaints so far! Last week we ordered lamb wraps and they were yummy - the kababs was juice the naan was soft and perfect portion size. Today we did a dine in, and ordered - pav bhaji, choolah bowl (chicken with Tikka masala and chicken), a mini bowls (with black lentils and paneer) and a side of naan! As someone who is from Mumbai where pav bhaji is staple - I have no complaints! It's the best pav bhaji I've had in Cleveland (by far apart from Honest - they do a good one too). The bowl was decent sized - the chicken was juice and flavorful, the Tikka masala was decent (missing the creaminess though), we did half greens and half rice and the greens were sans dressing so basically just a bunch of leaves in the bowl (not too impressed with that). On the mini bowl - the black lentils was absolutely delish, the taste was very very close to what we'd expect at an Indian restaurant so yeah definitely going back for that one! So yes the new menu loving it and keep it up choolah, you're now truly Indian with Indian flavours! read more

Oh my YUM! I had a chance to visit Choolaah's this brand new location at the soft opening and everything I could dream of! The location is soo beautiful that I was in an awe. I had the paneer as usual because their recipe is so unique that I can only get this taste at the Choolaah. They have 3 tandoors to make delicious naans, you can modify if you don't want certain toppings. The mint ginger lemonade is heaven in a cup. They carried on the hand washing station that is one of a kind for quests. There is a patio in the back and parking is available right behind the Main Street ($) I am delighted with my visit and I can't wait to visit soon read more

When I visited this location on a trip I had multiple issues with placing a delivery order and had to call the store for help. All of the associates were kind but Megan really stepped up to help me place my order (before talking to her I tried to place via seamless and Grubhub for 2 days but the order kept cancelling). Choolaah is such a welcome addition to West 25th Street, particularly in its fast casual concept that fills a much needed void for the limited options on this busy street. The moment you walk into Choolaah, it smells like heaven! I haven't dined in yet specifically, but we've become frequent patrons of the app ordering for pick-up. While West 25th Street is generally always busy, if you pick a slightly off-peak time, you can easily get a free parking spot directly behind the back door and breeze in and out with your app-ordered food. In warmer months, they also have shaded patio seating. My go-to order here is the pro bowl with chicken, add paneer, and mint yogurt sauce. I'm a veggies and sweet potato person, and this particular bowl has a generous helping of colorful veggies with punchy seasonings. My boyfriend always opts for the chicken tikka masala, which is more buttery in flavor and comes served over rice. Choolaah has become a bit of a go-to for us. Usually this kind of food makes me fairly ill but Choolaah didn't do that at all. It was pretty tasty food, though a little small.
