Goat Kadai - Basmati Rice - Paneer 65
    Tee T.

First time dining at Desi Mama and for the most part all was good. Let me break my experience down: The restaurant was decently well kept. It was bigger than I thought inside. My husband and I dined in. The air was a lot but it was on a 73 degree day. No real problem. The waitress was nice and answered all of our questions. She was sweet! Her service was solid, but she was the only person waiting the tables. The food was ok. We ordered: Veg pakora - it was ok. I believe food color was added to the batter because the pakora came out red'ish, in my experience the batter is typically brown. It was bad at all. It came is a tasty mint chutney. Paneer 65 - I typically like this dish, but I just didn't at Desi Mama. I literally took two bites and just couldn't. It wasn't horrible but it was not what I was familiar with for a 65 dish. Somehow it had a sweet taste to it and I just didn't care for it. Chicken Chowmin - a fried noodles dish. Now this was my favorite from the visit. My husband ordered it with little spice. When I go back, I will order this but will include some spice. This is a nice dish! Try it! Goat Kadai - this was very favorable and good. I ordered garlic naan to pair with it, although it came with basmati rice. I enjoyed it, but one down side..... for the price of this dish, I wanted more than 2 pieces of goat. There were more bones than there was goat meat :( Plain naan - solid, can't got wrong with it! All in all, not bad..... I would go back. You should give it a try!

Dark chatpate? Should be bright with tomatoes and some puff rice. Not good.

Massive piece of bone in my chicken momo dumpling... Big no-no. Chatpate was dark brown and lacking tomatoes and traditional herbs. WAYYY too much puff rice. Chicken biryani was somehow bland. Usually the rice and spices is so apparent, but was poorly seasoned. Won't be returning

For lunch, my friend and I split a pani poori appetizer, thali with goat, and chicken jhol momo. Before our appetizer arrived, the server presented us with complimentary bowls of lentil soup. The soup was warm, flavorful, and comforting, perfect for January weather. Next came the pani poori. The little crispy balls were served cold and made for refreshing & tasty treats. They were great on their own and even better when dipped into the accompanying "sour water," which was a bit spicy and equally refreshing (FYI - the sour water is heavy on the cilantro, so if you don't like cilantro, just be aware!). The thali came with an abundance of food, and we enjoyed almost everything on it. The platter came with a few different curries that were all delicious and well-spiced. One of them had a good portion of tender goat, and another had fried cauliflower and potatoes I couldn't get enough of. The thali also came with a scoop of rice. When we were done with the scoop of rice but only halfway done with the curries, the staff was sweet enough to bring us an extra plate of rice to soak up the rest of the curries. The platter also came with a piece of gulab jamun, which was sweet and rich. In addition, the thali came with a small serving of mango achar. I took a bite, and the pickled mango took my tongue on a journey, LOL. First, I got hit with the super saltiness, then the super sourness, and finally the lingering, intense spiciness. I can't say the mango achar was to my liking, but I don't regret trying it! The chicken jhol momo was fantastic as well, and I couldn't get enough of the tender steamed dumplings and that excellent broth!
