Middle dish Jhol Momo. Dish on right Chicken 65

Everything was super good BUT the lamb vindaloo (extra spicy) and the soup momos are delicious! Sadly the one photo with three different foods, the left one we cannot remember what it was but that was also super good! We have been here four times now since finding this. We did order through Uber Eats and sadly it was slower than it said it would be for delivering and we didn't get any money back but not sure if it's Ubers fault or the restaurant. We have ate here before once and it was quiet when there. Definitely will continue to keep coming here! (Should note we ate here once, picked up food here twice, and just now ordered through Uber Eats)

Very kind, attentive and accommodating of our large group. Excellent and prompt service! I really enjoyed the momos. The soup momos were by far the best I've had. The broth was deliciously spicy. Highly recommend you get an order of the soup momos!

Stopped in to Himalayan Restaurant to have the lunch buffet to see how the new management is doing. Although I was the only one eating in the restaurant they were doing a nice takeout and delivery business. Located on Lorain Road in a standalone building is a nice compact restaurant. There is a compact, but nice dining room. The lunch buffet is set up in the front area to your right as you come in the front door. The buffet is $12 per person. The buffet is nicely set up and fresh. There was 2 chicken dishes, two vegetarian dishes plus rice, vegie chow mein, pakora, salad, fruit and dessert. I was very impressed with the food I tried, everything was fresh and the flavors were really distinct and the spices were well balanced. The Dal and the vegetable Korma were both quite tasty if a bit soupy. The fried pakora were some of the best I have had, perfectly fried to a crispy exterior and delicious inside. The plain chow mein was simple, but very flavorful. The fresh Naan that was delivered to the table was excellent as well. A good selection of sauces and pickles complimented the meal as well. Ending the meal with some nice fresh melon and a couple of the warm Gulab Jamun, crisp dumplings in a sweet sauce. Yummy. The lunch buffet and the food overall at Himalayan Restaurant is excellent. Flavors are really good and the food is very well prepared. I would have liked to see more of the Nepali items on the buffet as opposed to the Indian food items, but it is hard to complain when the food is this good.

I've found my new favorite restaurant! 100% recommend! The jhol momo is the dish that looks like soup dumplings, so flavorful, slightly spicy and delicious. The paneer makhani is sweet and savory. Naan was soft and fluffy. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

I tried the buffet several weeks ago, which apparently they don't offer anymore. Which I can see why, it probably wasnt very popular. There were a few things on the buffet that were tasty, including the soups and a curry chicken dish. None of the food was very hot temperature wise either. I can see they do a better carry-out business than dine-in. I would consider ordering a dish from the menu but it will probably be a long time before I do so.

To celebrate my recent graduation, my husband and I thought it would be fun to go out to dinner with family and friends. We called and made reservations for the day and time (for 8pm on a Saturday) for 14 people. When we arrived, the manager had no idea that we had a reservation, and no tables were set up and nothing was prepared. Not a big deal, our friends arranged the tables in the back room so that we'd all be able to sit. Not every seat had napkins, silverware, but we did have cups for water. It was not busy in the restaurant, there were only two people in the main dining room. The service, although friendly, was extremely slow. A few times members of our party had to track down a waitress to ask for straws, more water, and utensils. Our meals came out at various intervals, with some members of our party waiting nearly an hour for their meals while others received theirs within about 15-20 minutes. Service was honestly in a bit of disarray, but the waitresses were very friendly and apologetic when food service was all over the place. There was also some confusion when it came to ordering-my cousin was told they were out of eggplant for her dish and that she'd have to order something else...but then they came out with the dish for her. But one of our friends ordered the same thing, and they had her order something else and then brought that one out. Go figure. Now onto the food- The food, once it came out, was good! I wouldn't say it's my favorite place, but it's definitely a solid option. The food was clean and not too oily (a pet peeve of mine when it comes to curries), cooked well, and smelled great! Everything was cooked just right-nothing was over/under done, and was well seasoned. There was a lot of food sharing around the tables, and everyone was pleased with their food. Many of our friends said that they'd like to go back...just in smaller groups, because it seemed like our group of 14 people overwhelmed them. I can't imagine if the front room was also busy at the same time! I know that the restaurant is new, and so they have kinks to work out to get the flow of service down, as well as flow in the kitchen. But once they get that, I know they'll become very popular! The food speaks for itself, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant itself is very clean. We'll definitely be back, just in smaller groups! We're looking forward to hopefully trying out their weekend buffet soon. PS-there appears to be only street parking, unless we missed a back lot or something as we were all arriving at night.

My friend and I were the only ones in the big restaurant upon arrival. I noticed about 2 different people during the night come in to pick up their to-go order. AMBIANCE -- Cultural music plays in the background. I love all the colourful photos on the wall and the unique light fixtures. FOOD -- I ordered the Mixed Grill ($24.99) - 1 Kafta (beef), 1 Tawook (chicken), and 1 Kabob (lamb) which was served over white rice with 1 tomato, 1 green pepper, and 1 big onion. I don't like onions so I set that aside. The Mixed Grill was a good meal for dinner. It comes in a large plate so it definitely was too much food for me. I gladly took a to-go box home with my leftovers. All the meats were cooked well and tasted good. The lamb was my favourite. The rice served appeared to be a rice pilaf. The complimentary lamb soup was served lukewarm (almost cold) and I didn't like the taste. It's an acquired taste for sure. My friend and I commented that maybe if the lamb soup was warmer that it would have tasted better. I also ordered the Maloog bread as a side dish which is similar to Indian naan bread. The Maloog bread would have tasted better with some butter on it. I asked for butter but the server said she didn't have any. SERVICE -- Complimentary lamb soup was offered and complimentary tea is provided which is nice. The tea is up at the front counter so you serve yourself the tea. The service was good but could be better. The young woman from Afghanistan greeted us at the table with a toothpick in her mouth which was kind of funny but still slightly unprofessional. She laughed and apologized but I said it was fine. I asked for a glass or cup of water and they don't offer that service which was odd. I had to buy a bottled water for $1. Buying the water didn't bother me as it was just $1 but I'm used to most restaurants just offering water on the house. The young hostesses did check on my table a few times which was good. I can see myself ordering food from Dar Alyemen again but I'll get takeout instead of dining in. The neighbourhood where this restaurant is located is a bit secluded. I do love that this is an ethic restaurant that showcases an immigrant business. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 85/250 total reviews in 2026 - 926 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 15 May 2026

The yogurt drink wasn't for me as I'm not used to yogurt that's salty and not sweet at all. I liked everything else. The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone. There was quite a bit of rice that came with it, that we ended up taking it back. A small sized side salad was bigger than I had expected, and it was a crunchy refreshing side to the fatty lamb. Loved how fluffy and big the maloog bread was--definitely worth the price, and perhaps my favorite. Service was decent. Parking available as it has its own parking lot. Overall great food, would consider coming back!

I came with a large group- 11 other women from a foodie women's group I am a part of - for a birthday celebration in August 2026. We made reservations in advance and didn't have any trouble finding availability for that day and time. The interior is very large and there is lots of seating. We had a designated server who took our orders and waited on us and he was very friendly! I didn't buy a drink but I tried a friend's mango lassi which was so creamy and rich! I thought about getting myself a masala chai but was too cheap to. I ordered myself a basket of tandoori roti which was glazed with butter ($4) to start off with. Others at my table ordered appetizers as well, including someone who bought a flight of pani puri. This flight made for great pictures! For my main, I got the Pubjabi chicken dish, medium spice, which came with a side of basmati rice ($20). Everyone who tried sone of my dish loved it, as did I! I was very happy with my choice. I also had enough for leftovers, although granted, I was filled up on roti bread. To our surprise, our waiter surprised us all with two servings of their signature Indian dessert, gulab jamon, for a complimentary birthday treat! I love gulab jamon, which are small honey balls of spongey cake, and have had them many times before. The gratuity was included automatically due to the size of our party. My check came out to about $32, which is not bad for how good the food and the service was! I highly recommend dining here for yourself. There's plenty of room for large parties!

The hariyali kabobs had an incredible flavor and the fruity, spicy sauce was delicious. Loved those. The fish fry was tasty and also came with a yummy sauce. The pizza had a great flavor as well and I really liked it. I would like to try other pizzas and other dishes. We'll definitely be back because this place has a menu worth exploring. Yum! I visited while in Cleveland and was super happy I listened the folks on online forums I researched before my trip, because it delivered! The menu is more Indian-fusion rather than your super traditional Indian fare, weaving in classic flavors with a few twists and inspiration from the mediterranean and middle-east. It's special-diet friendly, with a wide range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes and I would suggest ordering 2-3 small plates per person, unless you opt for the opt for their "chef-curated menu's." We went with four dishes plus bread to share between the two of us: 1. Clay Bread ($6): Ambas version of Naan bread, just a bit less charred than I would prefer. Despite each table getting a little dish of (delicious) mango chutney, no bread service is offered so this is definitely needed if you're ordering any dippage. This tasted more like pita bread than naan and could've benefitted by a brush of ghee and sprinkle of sea salt. Rating: 3/5 2. Warm spinach dip - lemon, garam masala, yogurt ($10): A classic but with a warm and spicy spin, this was absolutely delicious and a perfect thing to dip their fluffy clay bread. Garam masala added a depth that made it addictive and the hint of fresh lemon added brightness and acidity. Definitely order this. Rating: 5/5 3. Lentil donuts - spicy serrano chili jam, coconut chutney ($13): Round little pucks of cooked red lentils shaped into mini donuts and fried, the texture and heft were a bit mushy and heavy, but the flavor was good. The serrano chili jam and coconut chutney added a sweetness and spiciness that was appreciated, and we used that to add some sweetness to the chicken tikka. I probably wouldn't order again but a good option for the vegan and gluten-free crowd. Rating 3/5 4. Lamb kofta - kohlrabi, pickled shallot, quinoa-carrot pilau, parsley ($19): These were perfectly fried, simple but super flavorful kofta's that really let the star of the show (lamb) shine. The shaved kohlrabi, pickled shallot, pilau, and parsley added freshness and brightness that balanced everything beautifully. One of the standout dishes of the night and if you're there, get this! Rating 5/5 5. Herb grilled chicken tikka - creamy tomato sauce, yogurt, chives ($20): Juicy chicken thighs were coated in a tomato-forward cream sauce that gave vibes of chicken tikka but not as spice-forward as a more traditional version (which I would have like/appreciated). Despite the description saying the chicken was grilled, it only had just the slightest hint of char and so this was one of the least favorites of the night. Good, but definitely room for improvement. Rating 3/5 Overall, Amba is absolutely worth checking out if you're craving Indian-inspired flavors in a more modern, small-plate format. The ambiance is perfect for date night, celebrations, or dinner with friends, and the menu offers enough variety and flex to explore while also being wallet-friendly.
