Bokka presents Korean cuisine in the flat dusty plains of Clovis, NM. My daughters were presented a handful of restaurants that we had never been to, and they went with Korean - "but we want to take it back to the motel." "Yeah, Mom." So I took to the DoorDash app for takeout. When we arrived, right away I noticed how small the front parking lot was. There are a few more spaces on the back side. Also, I drove by this place three times earlier in the day and I didn't realize this was a gem of a restaurant. The dine-in area was minimally decorated. It also was on the small side, but right away I was warmly greeted by a smiling older gentleman who clarified that I was welcome to sit down while I waited just a couple more minutes. The food was all so delicious. I did not order enough steamed dumplings ($6.50 for 6 pieces). Quickly I was reprimanded by both of my girls for this. But then I was quickly redeemed for sharing a few bites of my medium-spiced beef bulgogi ($17.99). The girls thought it was a bit on the spicy side, but we all agreed the flavor was absolutely amazing. Comforting. Both girls enjoyed a Korean ramen entree. The youngest said the spicy pork ($10.99) was really good. The oldest opted for mild spice with beef ($10.99) - and while she ate most of it, it took her a while because she doesn't tolerate spicy foods well. Recommended - but like many restaurants in Clovis, this place stay open only until about 8:30 PM and I believe they are closed Sunday & Monday. read more

This is my favorite place in Clovis and truly the best Korean restaurant I've had the pleasure of eating in since leaving Korea. The owner is absolutely wonderful and so kind. Everything on the menu is authentic and so delicious, worth every single penny. The ambiance is quaint. I would recommend this place to anyone! read more

AN UNEXPECTED GEM... Finding an authentic Korean dining establishment in Clovis, NM was not on my bingo card! Being from California with a melting pot of options and having dined out more times than a person should, I can honestly say that Bokka is a contender. Our party of 8 got right down to business so we didn't take photos because we were all pretty busy eating -I will next time and yes, there will be a next time! This isn't a sit down and we'll take your order type of establishment -you order at the counter and they bring out your food. No fuss, just simple dining in a very relaxed, casual environment. The first thing I noticed was how reasonable their prices were, followed by the variety of available options. The taste and quality of the food leaves no room for negative comments as I said before, they are a contender, the hot stone bibimbap was just as good as I have had at some more popular establishments in San Diego, CA. Bulgogi and Spicy Pork were great along with everything else we had. Give this place a try, even if you haven't tried Korean food, you'll find something to your liking. Hot food after a long day driving from Denver literally got us melting in our hotel seats. We had to wait half an hour in the car for the food due to Covid but it was worth it especially the short ribs. $20 was a fair price for the amount of meats we got and you can taste the freshness off the grill. Kimchi wasn't too spicy which was perfect for me as I longed for some simple vegetables. The Japche (sweet potato noodle stir fry) was wrapped in a foil pouch which kept its temperature - I was so thankful for that. Friendly staff. Wonderful conversation but most of all fabulous food. Fresh ingredients, well prepared and fairly priced. The chicken katsu was wonderful and my wife's rice bowl was exactly what she wanted. The sweet rice pancake desert was new to us and it was worth the adventure. As for Korean food. It is really good. All I can say is the prices are pretty cray high.

I was saving my appetite for dinner at home but was delighted to discover this amazing little place for Korean in New Mexico no less. Next time I'll definitely be in for full entree. Everyone is right. The food at Bokka is very, very good but the service is very slow. Even for being slow, the service is so polite. I think the food was so darn good I don't care how long they take. I'd rather have excellent tasting, fresh food from nice Koreans and go knowing you will wait twice as long as the "30 minutes" they promised it will take over the phone. Yes, they do take out! Tip: they seem to prefer you look at the menu and state the number of the special you want to order rather than the name of the dish. There was a bit of a issue but I don't mind. Portions are perfect. Not too much, not too little. Bulgogi meat was tender and flavorful, Chicken Katsu was perfectly breaded and tasty even without sauce, Fried Rice is the best in town. We came here today for my fiance's birthday. The food and service was outstanding! We ordered fried dumplings as an appetizer, delicious with the side of sweet chili sauce. I got the Kalbi it came out sizzling , a huge stack of short ribs and steamed rice. My guy got the Japchae and loved it. He is a very picky eater when we eat out. Dad got the spicy pork, he didnt speak the entire time after he received his plate, lol. My dainty Mom got the Kimchi shrimp fried rice, she is a health nut. I've tried this restaurant three times since it opened and I'm not going to dispute that food and flavors are good. Right now my main problem is with the wait times. The first time I went there with my husband, they straight up forgot about my fried rice. Once I finally got it, I realized that they forgot the meat I selected and paid for. The rice was also very under-seasoned. The second time, I ordered Kalbi, not realizing it was the most expensive item on the menu (totally my fault, should have looked). Once short ribs finally came out, they looked great but were so chewy I couldn't even bite a piece off. I ended up taking most of them home and finished them off for dinner - they were great cold. I just think that for the most expensive item on the menu, it wasn't up to par taste wise. The third time I went was with a group of coworker for lunch. We ended up spending over an hour waiting for our food, and we only got it because one of us went and told the waitress that we had to be back at work in 15 mins. We ended up not eating any food there and had to take it to go. To be fair, the restaurant was busy, but at this point they are not equipped to deal with the volume of orders. It was very disappointing to spend close to 1.5 hours just sitting there, waiting on food and then not even be able to eat it. Will I go again? Yes, after a few weeks, maybe. Do I think It will get better? Also yes, once they figure out how to handle large volumes of orders. read more

I'm thankful that Clovis is growing a diverse selection of food. This place has good food but be prepared to wait a little bit (understatement)for your order. Flavorwise, it is on point! Everything tasted great and was made right on the spot! Hubby and I had bulgogi(shared a plate), 2 bibimbap bowls and korean sweetpancakes. The bulgogi under korean bbq menu was served in a small hot plate. we were kinda expecting a little bit more than that. bibimbap was good but expecting a little bit more meat considering it was 12 bucks for a bowl. what got me to lower the rating is the price point and the service. I understand that they just started but also it shouldnt be the reason why there were Several errors- forgot two of our orders- bulgogi and korean sweet pancakes. We ordered two korean pancakes, we reminded them of this order after getting our bulgogi. it arrived and we only received one. we didn't bother asking about the second one because we've gone to the front so many times already just to get our food. There was a huge confusion of which table ordered what- very disorganized. Hoping service and food portions would get better! but considering you're in Clovis- it's alright. read more

My husband and I had been wanting to eat here since it open but just couldn't find the time... the business hours didn't help. But we finally went today, I have to say it was worth the effort. We both order the bibimbap (1 beef, 1 pork). The hot stone bowl is worth the additional $1! You're able to hear the sizzle and it enhances the smell. Over all it was worth the hype! read more

5 stars as a Korean restaurant in Clovis NM. Not many choices, maybe even the only one here, so it's a plus that they are at least pretty good. The food is a little pricey but understandable because of location. The spicy pork is great and their kimchi is legit. I really like the korean pancake, too! For reference, Coming from CA/NV where there is an abundance of Korean places (Kbbq), I can say that Bokka is ok compared to them (3.5 stars for food quality in comparison to others I've tried in other states). Favorite spot to eat in Clovis. They have a simple menu. Two sides (kimchee and cucumber kimchee) not the full blown assortment of banchan. Just feel lucky to have really good food in such a remote area. Clean. Owner is very friendly. We typically order kalbi (they do LA style), chapchae, and kimbap and these feed a family of 3 adults. This restaurant I found to be somewhat affordable for this location I did really enjoy my beef dish it was exceptionally tinder and flavorful but for the price ? I need to just a tad more beef . Great Korean food in Clovis. I had the spicy pork and it was tender, flavorful and spicy. The rice was nice and fluffy and the kimchi was tangy with a light spicy Ness to it which helped balance the spice of the pork. All the other options looked good here and the portions were good. Only complaint was the restaurant is on the warm side, but it was over 100 outside when I went. I would eat here again. read more
