A true throwback to our original hot pot craving college days with the same nostalgic taste we grew up loving! Where else can you get a huge portion of hot pot for $22 these days? We loved the value at boiling point and the flavors really hit the spot on a cold night for dinner. I've always been a Tasty Pot girl but I'm slowly coming to love Boiling Point! I came on a Saturday night with a group of 6 and we waited about 20-30 minutes. When we got seated, there are a bunch of QR codes to scan to find their menu and a waiter takes your order. We got our food fairly quickly. Everything was delicious and they gave a good portion. My friend got the scallion rice and it was pretty good (although an extra 80 cents), I would go back and try it again. I always get the beef and it's a classic. My boyfriend got the mutton and he wishes he got the lamb instead. It reminded me of Bo Kho (texture wise). I love their bean paste sauce and I appreciate how you can buy the bottle of sauce to take home! The also give you a jelly packet after your meal and it's so yummy. A nice sweet treat. This Boiling Point location is in a pretty busy plaza and parking may be hit or miss, especially on weeknights and weekends. Wait time to be seated is usually pretty long (over 45 minutes usually) and you have to wait outside too, so not the most ideal - even after being seated, the employees take forever to come back to take your order and it also takes forever to flag someone down to help you. Tables are also not wiped down all the way and the same rag is used to wipe the dirty tables and chairs, so cleanliness is questionable. I ordered their miso pot and green milk tea with boba. The food is eh - some ingredients did not taste that fresh and it made my stomach hurt afterwards. I love hot pot but not hungry enough for AYCE so my go to would be individual hot pot bowls! I love this concept since it has a combination of items selected for each bowl option so I don't have to pick and choose the ingredients. Selected the house special and it was just okay. The meat portion was a bit less than what I remembered from previous visits. However there was LOTS of veggies on the bottom. Personally I love veggies so I'm okay with it but I felt like the ratio of ingredients were a bit off compared to one of their competitors, Tasty Pot. Service wise, we didn't receive much service. Store was not busy at all since we came on a Monday at opening but staff didn't check in with our table at all. I usually go to their other competitor, Tasty Pot but I wanted to switch it up today. After comparing, I will probably stick to Tasty Pot since their service is ALWAYS AMAZING and food ratio for the pot is much better! Price is a bit steep in my opinion, close to $25-$30 a pot after tips and tax. Service is a hit or miss, sometimes staffs are very attentive, sometime you don't get service at all. This visit was more like a 3.5 stars but I want to give them the benefit of doubt and think it was just an off day for them. While not my go to personal hot pot spot, I stopped by BP for their buy 3 get 1 free deal, and to see if I enjoyed this spot more than Tasty Pot, my usual go to. I ordered for take out, so this review will mostly be about the food, though I can speak to the ambiance as the restaurant itself was very dark when I entered. I ordered 4 pots, and tried 2 - My go to Taiwanese Spicy, and the Thai Tomato. Unfortunately, the soups were generally lacking depth of flavor - and I felt that the variety of toppings wasn't present because over 50% of the pot was just meat and cabbage! I unfortunately can't help but compare to Tasty Pot, but the soup was lacking in salt - and definitely just not as good of a broth. The Thai Tomato was well, lacked the Tom Yum flavor I was expecting, and felt like a pretty bland tomato-y pork broth. Overall I was pretty disappointed - I would probably not return to this location unless it was convenient, though the deal is pretty decent I suppose. read more

We enjoy eating here from time to time. The soups are very delicious. I personally always upgrade my rice to the Scallion rice! I definitely recommend trying it especially if you're planning on ordering just plain rice. I do appreciate restaurants that utilize QR codes to view the menus. I appreciate them even more when you can order through the QR code as well, but unfortunately in this case you can only view menus here. It's not a big deal it's more of a preference. Heads up if you're a first timer going to this location on a cold night, be prepared because if you are sitting near the door there is very cold and strong wind draft every time the door opens. This is one of the two pre-prepped hotpot places I'll only go to. This location, in my opinion, is a lot better in terms of overall service vs the Fremont location on Warm Springs Blvd. The vibe of the restaurant feels very rustic and warm. The decor are all very nice and upscale and it's actually a pretty big restaurant. I've been here during lunch and dinner before; The cool thing about eating here at lunch time is that you get a choice of either free green tea or black tea! Also, after your meal, they give you this lemon jelly that comes in a small packet that tastes really good! It helps settle all the food I eat after (for me at least). The portion of the hotpot here for me is pretty big and for some, it's just the right portion. My usual go to here is the Korean Bean Paste or Beef and I usually go with Mild for spice level with the free rice. If you're not up for rice, you can choose vermicelli. Your spice levels of choice are: spice, mild, medium, hot, and flaming. The mild is great choice for those that just like a little bit of spice without the runny-nose effect. Haha. The wait for lunch time isn't too long, most times there is no wait so you are seated right away. For dinner time, depending on the time and day you go, the wait can range from 10min-30min. *Big thing to note* If you do a walk-in for dinner and it looks busy, designate one person from your party to be dropped off first to enter your party size & name on their tablet inside to get on the waiting list while the others try to find parking. This will save you time since parking is sometimes hard to find because this plaza does get really busy with the other business surrounding it. The hotpot is very enjoyable! The broth is rich and flavorful and the items it comes with work really well together. Waiting for your food after you order doesn't take long either, which is nice because it comes pretty quick from the kitchen. The sauce choices here are really good! I tend to mix the garlic bean paste and garlic soy sauce together while my dad sometimes likes to add garlic chili sauce. You have a platter that has a divider, so you can choose whatever sauce combo you'd like. I only knocked it down one star because the servers are hard to get a hold of sometimes when it's busy. They don't really check-in on you after you get your food, you wait for awhile for your check, asking for more water or other things can take awhile, etc. I think it's more of a staffing issue, there aren't many of them and I wish they did have more servers on busy nights. But! The servers here are very friendly and nice when they are serving you. Also, they always bring the rice out first and it gets cold pretty fast before your hotpot arrives, so the rice sometimes doesn't seem too appetizing unless you pour your broth in it...Additionally, the bathroom gets really nasty at times and it's something unsettling to see after you eat. As someone who always goes to Goku for hot pot, I've been sleeping on Boiling Point for years. The last time I've been at Boiling Point was well over 6 years ago and I haven't been back since then.
