    Bohemian (zucchini) tower
    Jody E.

I have tried the 2 sister restaurants (Pinky's and Pearl's Deep Dive) so I had high hopes for Bohemia as well. By far the most impressive decor and ambiance goes to Bohemia. I enjoyed the bright color scheme, live plants, and the mixed media art decor. There were a few things that I didn't entirely understand (the rhino figurines and the indoor beach umbrella) but I let it slide. For drinks we ordered the dancing raspberries (it's served with dry ice and that's what makes the raspberries "dance"), Detox Retox, and the Strawberry Negroni. For someone who doesn't typically likes Negronis, I was pleasantly surprised by this one because the vermouth was understated and there's no Campari. For food, we ordered the garlic hummus, zucchini tower, and the branzino. The hummus was just ok and a little over priced ($13!), but I liked the house made Laffa bread that it's served with. The zucchini tower was delicious and perfectly crispy, but again, over priced for basically being zucchini tempura with tzatziki sauce. The branzino was well seasoned and big enough to share. We had great service from our waiter Braden, who was very patient and checked in with us just the right amount. We also didn't have any issues with a rude hostess that has been mentioned in some of the other reviews :/ I will say I was surprised at how dead it seemed on a Friday night. We were there from 6-830pm and only saw maybe 4 other parties. I'm not sure if it's just not well advertised or they're still kind of new, but I would have expected a restaurant of this caliber to be more busy during a peak time. Overall I'd definitely recommend this place for a date night or a fun dinner out with girls, just don't expect it to be a cheap night.

I have been to Pinky's and to Pearl's but not to Bohemia. He hasn't been to Pearl's so this worked out perfectly. All have the same owners but a completely unique atmosphere and menu! The name fits this place. The entire atmosphere is unique! All of the plants are real. They have a gardener who comes in just to care for the plants. There are so many!! We truly enjoyed learning about the concept of the place. We ordered some fun drinks and really enjoyed walking around and looking at everything. I absolutely recommend coming to all three locations!

Meh. We came here on a Friday night during prime dinner time and sat at the bar. The restaurant was pretty much empty. Probably not a good sign. The staff was really friendly. The ambiance was ok. Overall, the food was not good. There were a few dishes that we liked, the bread & the ribeye Kabobs. Also, there was only one cube of chicken in the Chicken Subo Pasta dish. Here's a tip: don't call this a chicken dish if it is not. This way guest won't have that expectation. Everything else was just ok. I really wanted to like this place. But it was underwhelming. There are too many good restaurants in the area to spend your money here. I don't know how they are going to survive. I hope they figure it out.

If I was rating purely on decor - I would give it four stars. Interior is very eclectic and all over the place. There are flowers and pillows and carved wall with huge crystal chandelier in the middle - total mess confusion but amusing. Food is mediocre. Rice and cous cous were not bad, but my ribeye was very chewy and tough. Waitress was highly unpleasant. But most disappointing was the fact that this restaurant doesn't serve coffee or dessert! (Or at least that's what our Waitress told us). Will not come back and would not recommend. There are far better places out there.

Fun Decor in downtown Royal Oak, date night with hubby. We shared the lamb chops which were out of this world delish as was the accompanying couscous with pomegranate. Hubby started with Israeli pistachio potatoes, yum. 4 star because I shared with the waiter that I came in due to a picture of charred carrots that looked really good & I ordered that for starters. When he brought them he said he knows they look different but are just as good. We left 1/2 there and as any chef knows whole carrots are much more flavorful than mini processed carrots. I just would have appreciated knowing prior since I came in for "that." Also, on me that I did not know "harissa" is a very spicy sauce however nice for wait staff to mention these things. Would return. The Reservations on One Table is a plus for us.

Love the vibe of this place!! Such a fun place for a girls night. I love Mediterranean food and they have tons of healthy options. The sides don't come with the meal - you order them separate and they are shared portions. I've tried the cauliflower, hummus and bread, carrots, salad, potatoes and I've loved them all. I do wish the protein portions were a little bigger (I love protein!) but other than that we had a great experience both times we went. Super fun drinks too!

I still have hope for this place! They are still very new and definitely in that "figuring it out stage". We had a reservation for 7 and waited almost 40 minutes past our reservation time and the hostess was very rude when we inquired on how much longer the wait would be. Eventually the manager came up to us and apologized basically the hostess sat a 2 top at the large table which we had reserved - her just sharing this insight made us a little more understanding, she also comped our apps for the mixup. I can appreciate whenever a restaurant tries to right a bad experience. Aside from that the decor in the restaurant is really cool and a great place for a fun night out. The drinks were very good, especially the tequila matcha one (forgot the name). The food was hit and miss - the girls who got the lamb did not like it, said it was very dry and over cooked. I had the ribeye medium rare and it was good. I will come back again - and hopefully can update.

Wow, dinner was terrible. Tasteless chicken over tasteless rice. A big bill and a big disappointment. Avoid this restaurant.

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The downstairs area had such a cool speakeasy vibe dark ambiance, vinyl music playing, and honestly the perfect date night atmosphere. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. Parking was no problem as I was lucky to find metered parking just steps away from the front door. I walked in immediately taken with the charming decor and darkly lit romantic vibes, which is my favorite esthetic for any restaurant. The seating at the bar was yummy, thick comfy seats. The bartender greeted me warmly. He was cool and I hate that I didn't ask his name. He was attentive and masterful with the spirits. He asked if it was my first time, which it was, and since so, made me a tasty "welcome" drink with gin that was fantastic. I also ordered "the panty snatcher" a concoction of vodka, grapefruit, St Germain, rose water and orange. It was amazing. I will definitely be back for drinks. The drink menu is quite tempting. I had the Corn, Corn, Corn dish, which is polenta and corn kernels topped with popcorn. Yes, super unique and interesting. I had to try it. The popcorn was so light and flavorful straight out of the kitchen, but became chewy as it sat atop the piping hot polenta. I really enjoyed it however. Next time I'll eat all the popcorn first. I also had lobster dumplings, which was good but the dish wasn't cooked through. The filling wasn't hot and the pasta was very under on some bites. I was the first customer for the evening, so I can forgive that faux pas. I really enjoyed myself and I will return time and time again to try everything. The menu offers many things I love. Great concept. Cool vibes.

As we followed our greeter to our table I kept screaming in my mind "no no no no no not that table no!" and she sat us at a table in full blasting sun. Nevermind the fact that there was a whole shaded section in the back part of the patio area. The rest of my group said it was fine and a beam of sun slowly bore a hole through my chest. Drink orders were up. I ordered a fabulous cross between a Moscow Mule and a Mojito. A+++ for the drinks. Mine was loaded with fresh mint from their garden. Same grade for our waitress who explained the drinks in detail and ended with "ugh- are you sure you want to sit at this table straight in the sun?" The other two said it was fine. I was ready to move, but was out voted. She continued to check in regularly and brought extra water. Most items on the menu were hot. I considered the fish, but we all landed on appetizers and we would just bounce from place to place for bites and drinks. We ordered the charcuterie board and the lavender lemon whip with bread and cucumbers for the 3 of us. The charcuterie board was the large version and had minimal offerings. It wasn't full and pretty. It was little piles of each thing on a board. This one definitely wasn't making it into Better Homes and Gardens magazine. There was a little pile of mixed nuts, a little pile of lose green grapes, a little pile of lose red grapes - not all grapes pristine or large and none were on the vine. There were 3 little piles of cubed cheese and 2 types of sliced sausage and sliced pepperoni. There were 8 crackers that were wheat thin size. This matters because we had some onion jam on the board and a nice serving of mustard. There really wasn't anything to put them on except for the 8 little crackers. That part was weird. These weren't elevated offerings. I could have picked up any of these at Walmart. They were not elevated quality either. We also got a lavender lemon infused whip which was their answer to tzatziki sauce. It was excellent but again, we were given so much of the sauce without a bunch to put it on. The cucumbers were sliced lengthways and there was a lovely bread that tasted like sourdough. There was 6 pieces of bread, and these were not particularly large pieces. A lot more would have been needed to use all of the sauce they gave. The proportions were off. All together the bill was over $100 for the 3 drinks and appetizers. If I ever did go back I won't order food based on what I experienced. There are too many other great options within walking distance.

Just one burger option and limited toppings. Server was very nice but didn't write down the order, and when it came my burger was missing the cheese and onion. I wasn't sure if they would take it back or what so I didn't eat anymore and it took her a decent amount of time to come and check on us after we got our food. I let her know what was missing and she said it was her fault and asked if I wanted it fixed. I said yeah and she went and got a cold piece of cheese and slice of onion and put it on a plate and gave to me to put on my own burger. I'd expected a little bit better service and I'm certainly not someone who demands top tier service from every spot. Fries were crispy but needed some parm or an aioli sauce to dip in. Also minor note but I had some fries left on my plate and when she came to collect plates I had food in my mouth so I couldn't say anything but she took the plate and my fries! They should always ask if there's any food left on the plate. Burger was decent overall, but definitely nothing special. Environment was cool and I'm sure they have got some other delicious items on the menu but for the price paid and service received, I'd go somewhere else next time.
