Apple Fritter recently underwent shrinkflation
Erica W.

Let me preface that their staff are friendly and helpful! It's the donuts that aren't up to expectations. Disappointed the find that they have shrinkflated their Apple Fritter. It was about 2/3 the thickness and circumference that it has been for the past two years (at this location). Overall, I like their traditional cider donuts and ones that have less sugar. The rest of their donuts are just too sweet for me, and a bit too dense. Bob's Donut does not compare to Stan's Donut in Santa Clara, in size or loft. The other thing that I notice about their donuts is that they often have a weird aftertaste- wondering if they don't change the oil in the fryers... I don't recommend their Vegan apple fritter doesn't taste right... and tends to be undercooked. Their staff is excellent because of it is undercooked, you can just show it to them and they'll swap it. They are the only sweet shop in the area, so they don't have competition.

Picked up a breakfast donut, apple fritter and donut holes. Unfortunately, the donuts didn't taste fresh, despite picking them up in the morning. Maybe the oil needed to be changed or something but the donut holes had a strong used oil taste. I chose the jalapeno cream cheese donut which wasn't great but wasn't horrible either. Tasted exactly how it looked. Again, didn't taste fresh as if it's been sitting out for some time. A few people enjoying their donuts inside.

Bob's is a S.F. institution as far as donuts are concerned. They're known for being open 24 hours a day and their huge donuts. This location is across the street the street from the o.g. location. This one is bright and cleaner than original. I especially love the jelly donut because they don't skimp on that jelly inside. Street parking is tough.

I saw parking while driving past so opted to sate my craving for a Custard Filled Chocolate Long John. Even on a quiet Thursday morning the shop had a steady stream of customers. Efficient Staff, and trays of freshly made donuts.

Wow. On our e-bikes this Tuesday morning I suggested to hubby we make our way to Bob's. Being donuts fans he was very agreeable. We popped in around 10:00am. We looked at all the yummy donuts and bought: * chocolate old fashioned * blueberry- one crumble& one cake. There's a few chairs alongside the small footprint. We kinda sat & stood inside as we had to keep an eye on our bikes. Our first bite - WOW! Still warm and so moist. We talked about our donuts a good 1/2 hour as we continued on our bikes What a great morning treat.

Lesser known than the one on Polk, this Bob's Donuts on Baker/Fulton had no lines when I got there for a sinful treat. Their apple fritter is huge and out-of-this-world deeelicious - I walked many blocks and devoured the whole thing!

While I love the variety of flavors and options of donuts, I've never been blown away by them. They're decent overall, but I would love if they were a little bit sweeter. There's a small amount of seating near the window, but more of a take away spot. You get your donuts pretty quickly after your order.

Got the apple fritter, tiramisu, half dozen donut holes and a Hawaiian guava!

Dropped by on the 4th of July and was thankful they were open! While looking through the options, people came in and out -- lots of runners stopping for a sweet treat, surprisingly. The donuts in the glass display are mostly those with filling. All trad donuts are in the back, so they're there and available, just not displayed. Obvious, but thought I'd mention it. Donut holes (half $2, dozen $4) Cash and card both accepted. Cashier was a little rude and short responsed/had attitude. It's ok! Got the apple fritter, tiramisu, half dozen donut holes and a Hawaiian guava!

Great corner spot for easy access to donuts. Great variety, and nice staff members explaining the flavors. The display case was cute and organized neatly with name tents. Came here after an ebike tour and ordered thir famous Apple Fritter donut. Great flavor! Lovely day. Famous Apple Fritter donut - massive!!

This is my absolute favorite spot for a late night treat! It's perfectly located after a night out at the bars and offers a great atmosphere to wind down with something sweet. The vibe is fantastic, and there's ample seating. My friends and I ordered our donuts and comfortably stayed for an hour just chatting and slowly enjoying them. The donuts themselves are truly excellent, light and airy. I absolutely love this spot!

Came for a donut! They have so many options. This is my third time here. I went on a weekday and there was almost no wait. It gets busy on weekends. This is one of my favorite donut shops in the City! Very fluffy and priced well. Staff is nice. They take credit card.

This place used to be my favorite donut place in the whole Bay Area. Not anymore. My go to WAS the raspberry glaze filled donut because they used quality raspberry filling. It used to be bursting with raspberry goodness, now they choose to rip the customer off with a dab of raspberry filling that doesn't even fill 1/3 of the donut. The cashier then gave me an attitude when I asked her about the filling. She begrudgingly gave me a new one which I opened up immediately. It looked exactly the same as my first one, just a smidge of filling. She then refused me a refund. Hard pass for a $3.50 donut.

Classic SF donut shop. Have been going to the Polk St location for years. Super friendly staff and large variety of donuts. I tried the vegan matcha. Flavors were okay but the donut was a bit dry, so felt a little off. And boy, who knew donuts were so pricey nowadays

Omg. Best donuts ever. Bar none. Call these marvelous confections donuts is almost an insult -they are so much better than donuts.

Very stale; went straight into the trash. I don't think it's humanly possible to sell a more stale product.

So good! Definitely one of the best croissant bakeries in SF. We went on a Sunday morning close to…read more11 and there was a long line. It took about 20 minutes to get to the front, which wasn't too bad. We had the potato mushroom, caramel apple, pistachio and plain croissants. The croissant had a nice flaky crust and had all the pockets you would expect from a good croissant. They were all delicious but our favorite was the apple and mushroom potato. The mushroom potato was one of the best savory croissants we have ever had. The Apple croissant tasted like apple pie. There is no seating in the bakery. They do sell cute merchandise worth checking out. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend a visit!

Would I wait 2+ hours for any baked goods? Probably not…read more I've done it before and I realized nothing is worth the wait. That's why I decided to take my chances around 11am when the line was significantly shorter. I waited maybe 15-20 minutes. Downside was I didn't have too many savory options left to choose from. I had only one savory option left: the butternut chorizo croquiche. Only thing I wish they did was separate the savory from the sweet because when we bit into it, pieces of chorizo fell onto the dessert-y pastries. Reminded me of that Friends episode where Rachel made a beef trifle for dessert. *I wasn't supposed to put beef in the trifle* I think the savory pastry was the best. We also had the chocolate chip cookie (not my fav, too crumbly), the banana pain au chocolat and the lemon vanilla bean filled cruffin. I'm having vague memories of that last one. I just remember it was really messy when you unleashed the cream. Among the sweet desserts, I liked the banana chocolate croissant the best! It wasn't overly sweet. I also got the salted maple pecan latte and I really enjoyed their housemade whipped cream! And the latte wasn't too sweet either :) I expected to spend a pretty penny on 4 pastries and a latte. It was ~$40 overall. It was less sticker shock and more quiet resignation. Anyway, I would still happily try their pastries again as I know they have a seasonal menu, but you won't find me in line at 7am.

Heard about this place and I'm so glad it was open today! Usually there's only one item for sale…read moreon any given day, and the menu item for today was Moon Cake. I hadn't had a traditional one yet this year, so that was a plus for me. Normally I'm not crazy about the nut moon cakes, but this one was terrific! It was the best moon cake I've had in a while - regular lotus seed with yolk and nuts. The lady at the bakery reminded me of an "auntie" and she was super friendly! Even though today was moon cake, I took a chance and asked if she had any wife cake (Low Po Behng). Unfortunately she didn't, but we had a nice little conversation in Cantonese and it brought me back to childhood and Chinatown in L.A. back in the day. Some people might not like that it's closed (I think that's when she runs out or isn't baking that day) but that's just how it goes. It's nothing personal if someone drives a long way and it's closed. It sounds like sometimes the lines can be long (There was no line for us today - score!) but it's everyone's choice if they're willing to wait or not. It's a little place and you order through the door. To me, that just adds to the quirky adventure of it all. Next time I hope she has Low Po Behng!

FINALLY able to try the egg tarts from Golden Gate Bakery after numerous attempts. The hours are so…read moreunpredictable, and we honestly wouldn't have realized it was open if there wasn't a line on the sidewalk because the gates were still drawn. Took about 15-20 minutes to get through several people. We tried both the egg tarts ($3.50/ea) and the white lotus paste double egg yolk mooncake ($13). They don't use lard, so if you're vegetarian, snack away! Egg tart shell was super flaky and thin; custard was *very* egg-y. It was a little more like egg souffle than egg custard, and not as silky as I personally like. Still delicious though, 8/10. Mooncake was pretty solid and the filling had some surprise macadamia nuts in there, which added a nice texture. The skin wasn't my favorite, but I think that's just personal preference. Not too sweet. 7/10. Would come back to grab an egg tart if I ever happen to catch this place open again.

They were still open with most of their baked goods available. I wasn't really hungry but decided to ordered 2 of the orange chocolate buns to go. I reheated them in the air fryer and they came out nice and warm. The orange flavor was subtle and the chocolate complemented it well. I thought it would be more chocolate-y and probably would've liked it a bit more if it was, but it was still good.
