Decent small, local diner open 24/7. It has its own parking lot on the left-hand side of the diner, so parking is not a problem. When you walk in, the counter is on your left, the dining room is to the back and to the right. Service is usually good, but sometimes it can be slow, or the wait staff can be inattentive. This can be annoying. Make no mistake, this is not a large diner like Alexis, Blue Ribbon , Halfmoon , Tops. or Ambrosia. It is relatively small, with a less extensive menu than some of the larger diners. They always have specials, which are a good choice. Food quality is average, nothing special. Prices are fair. For some reason, whenever I and my friend Sue go to a diner, we seem to end up at Bob's. We drive past other higher rated diners to go there. I'm not sure why we do that. Maybe it's just a familiarity or comfort factor. We like it, and it is our go to small diner. But I can see how other people might not think it's so great. That's why it gets three stars and not four. read more

I'm making it my mission to try my staple breakfast at every diner in the area: scrambled eggs (well; not runny), bacon or home fries, and pancakes. Eggs: scrambled well to my liking Home fries: some of the potatoes were undercooked and some were just fine Pancakes: don't be fooled by what looks like lumpy cakes. Those are three in the pic. They are thick cakes with a good texture. Nice buttery flavor that complemented the syrup well. I don't care for the bacon here because it's always thin and too crispy, but I know people like that so that's not a slight against them. I like this diner cuz it's close to my bf's apartment and I know I can always get good eggs and pancakes! read more

This diner is immaculate. The eggs Benedict was unbelievably good. As were the pancakes. Not to mention I was greeted by a smiling waitress at 1 in the morning, friendly and overall amazing. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday morning for breakfast, plenty of options. We had eggs scrambled and over easy with rye toast, I had the turkey sausage links, every was cooked as we asked for and tasted delicious. I would recommend this restaurant for breakfast due to the quality of the food and price, we will be back. read more

Bob's is a diner that operates 24 hours a day satisfying those late night cravings. Bob's is a one of a kind in an area where 99pct of the businesses in the area are closed at midnight. It's clean but clearly in need of a makeover. Our waitress was quick and efficient Our order came out quickly The sausage egg and cheese sandwich I had was prepared very well I would not hesitate to hit Bobs again when in the area. read more

Where to begin Burger wasn't done as requested, missing 2 orders of fries, missing strawberries for pancakes. I must add how does anyone mess up a pickle?? "I Have a suggestion, don't wrap it in a bag to soaked up all the juice!!" (dry A pickle) Do not step in this establishment w/ out cash unless you're trying to pay extra $10.00 on top of your order. I can say corn beef hash was ok. read more

Not good reviews at all!! Who puts sliced packs of cheese on fries!!! Gravy like jello! Place should be shut down

Here's my assessment by the following categories. Food: acceptable Service: attentive waitresses Environment: watervliet's "finest" are always here which isn't the restaurant's fault but goes take away from its appeal. Dude in table next to us looked like a hobo and kept ripping huge burps out loud. St least ten times. My wife lost her appetite. Again, not the diner's fault and I understand that. Just don't expect a classy crowd here when you go. Price: I wouldn't call it cheap but it's not overpriced. To feed my wife and I it was $32 (including tip). Parking: ample off street parking Location: convenient Cleanliness: acceptable Overall rating: 3/5 read more

Does what it says it does. Not much more to say. If you are looking for a good diner meal 24 hours a day, this is your spot. Nothing about it stands out. Portions are okay. Selection is average. Service was a little off. On this day, I was hungry, so I went with 2 eggs and toast, biscuits and gravy and a side of bacon. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Crispy edges and runny yolks. Bacon was average. Thin sliced and not crispy. That's on me though I guess for not asking for it that way. Biscuits and gravy was below average. Biscuit was heavy and bland. Sausage gravy had alot of sausage in it, but it was aggressively salty. Toast was just right also. Service was very spotty. I give somewhat of a pass, as it was New Years day, but alas, I should not have to ask for a glass of water three times before it shows up. Even on the busiest days. This is not a large diner, so when three groups who came in after us had already had their order taken before us, I was a bit miffed. Right when I was about to say something, she came over. As I said, it does what a hole in the wall diner is supposed to do as far as the food goes. The service needs work though. I will try again and see if it was just a one time thing. For now? Three stars. read more

Always a great meal. We do take out for lunch from here quite frequently. Never disappointed!

You get the sense that Bob's, right next to the tracks, has been here in one form or another since the General Tom first chugged up and down the river. It definitely feels like it was built from an old railroad car....an old box car, that is. The general odd, dim layout and mismatch of the odd new fixture with formica tables made during the Coolidge administration is a tip-off that you are not in one of those fake "Diner" - looking diners, but an actual honest to god Diner. Let's go through the checklist: Open 24 hours: check. Breakfast anytime: check. Bottomless cup of coffee: check. Hiya hon service: check. Regulars: check. New customers treated as well as the regulars: check. I have a few quibbles (I don't like "roll" omelets) but the food was hot, relatively prompt, tasty in the grease and fat areas you want, and cheap enough (although I'm still not quite up for the diner prices around here, but that's just a sign I'm getting to be an old fogey). You're not going to find the food written up in Zagat's or the decor cooed over in a Guide Michelin, but you're not going to find any complaints from me. Classic. read more

Good place for dinner food at all hours. I believe the are open 24 hours a day. Just had breakfast there. Everything was as expected. Friendly service. Refilled my ice tea when it got low. Easy parking. Located next to train tracks. Across from Stewart's. read more

Took an hour to confirm my order on grubhub and the total time was going to be almost two hours. For chicken tenders and a grilled cheese. I get if there are fewer drivers but why does it take an hour to confirm the order? Am I missing something ? I cancelled the order after an hour and a half. Garbage place read more

I've only had breakfast food here, mostly at odd hours, intoxicated or hung over, but every experience has been positive. They have really good pancakes - comparable size to McDonald's hotcakes, so don't expect a stack of two to be super filling, but they're fluffy and delightful and come with whipped butter and syrup. The bacon left a lot to be desired but I can let that slide. Sausage was good. Breakfast sandwich is HUGE and something outrageous like three dollars. Omelettes are NOT LACTOSE SENSITIVE FRIENDLY but since I am the 10% (of East Asian people who don't react to dairy) I enjoy the full block of cheese that comes with. Home fries are nothing to write home about and toast is very buttery. The complete lack of music makes for an atmosphere that gets uncomfortable quickly if you're the only party talking, and the simple wooden booth seats make sure tables get turned quickly. read more

Nasty staff and nasty server, we work late night, we went here because they are open late night and end it is perfect for our bar staff to go to after we close. we went there that night with myself ) bartenders and servers) and the security staff from our night club. It all went downhill when our security guy accidentally dropped the fork on the floor, our server literally picked it up and slammed it on the table. She was very short and Condon sending to us, we finally asked to speak to a manager and we were bereaved by the girl behind the counter. At that point a few older men that were sitting at the counter told us told us to get out if we didn't want any problems, we all work in the industry of customer service, bartending and food service but I will say this was the most nastiest place we ever been to. read more

After being turned away from two restaurants that were listed as open (turns out only for liquid and alcohol) Bob's Diner was a welcome sight at 10PM on a Saturday night. As far as diners go Bob's Diner is above average diner food. A classic, legit diner. We have been here a few times and the food has been consistent. The portions are large and arrive at the table hot, not just lukewarm. The place is small and clean. We have always been seated promptly and served quickly. Our most recent visit we ordered eggs over easy, bacon, and homefries- a sausage patty with french fries and a steak sandwich with onion rings. All tasty and fresh, no complaints. Quick, good food and the waitress was the same waitress at each visit. Very nice and pleasant and on task. This is a go to place if your looking for a quick and cheap late night meal! read more

Surprised to see only 3.5 stars on average- I declared my experience as best breakfast I've had in a LONG time. Typically I don't want to spend money on food I can make myself ( breakfast) but for the price performance combined with the fluffiness of eggs and pancakes you can't beat it! Tasty coffee, nice crunch to corned beef hash now I understand why my husband sneaks the kids out in the middle of the night to drive across town to this place - so have Uber drop you off on the after hours run- you won't be disappointed with full plate of food for $10.00 read more

I've been to Bob's quite a few times and have never had an issue with their food. I always get the breakfast bowl and coffee (which is unlimited). My girlfriend and I will both get breakfast there and the bill is only $25 usually for both of us. However, when I went yesterday, I ended up getting food poisoning from their breakfast. While I've never had a problem before, that is unacceptable in my mind. I've never given myself food poisoning while cooking at home, and a restaurant should be held at a higher standard. read more

My favorite part about Bob's is that it's open literally whenever you want to be there. The service is perfect. The wait staff is very friendly and they make you feel very comfortable. There's always a good spot to sit and it's clean. The two star rating is for the food. It's not great. I had the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce was horrifying. It tasted like butter and american cheese. However, the eggs and home fries were decent. I'll definitely be back - let's not beat around the bush here. Bob's is a little gem and haven for Watervliet residents who are hungry and still awake at odd hours of the night/morning. They don't need to have the best food. They're cheap and they're open. read more

Recently, on a crisp, cold autumn morning we decided to try a diner we've been driving past a lot since moving into our new house. We walked into Bob's Diner, and after waiting a bit for a booth we were finally seated. At a booth right under the air conditioner. Which was on full blast. Did I mention "crisp, cold autumn morning?" So we sat under the AC, shivering, and waited for the bus girl to take our drink order. An waited some more, then waited a little longer. Finally after about 15 minutes she wandered over. The waitress came over soon after and took our food order. The food came out fairly quickly, and she topped off our coffee. Then we literally NEVER saw her again. No, seriously: LITERALLY. I will give them this, there was a lot of food on those plates. But for the price they are charging, the quality should definitely be kicked up a notch. The coffee was bitter and burnt, the bacon was paper thin and flavorless, the home fries were bland and buttery, the eggs were ok...I mean how hard is it to screw up over easy eggs? Then there was the french toast. White bread, egg wash, griddle, done. No seasoning at all. This was seriously made with WONDER BREAD. Who does this at a restaurant any more? This was more like "I'm at home, I'm lazy, but I want some French Toast" kinda French Toast. Not what a diner should be serving. So we ate our breakfast in shocked, freezing amazement. Then waited for the check. And waited and waited. The waitress was NOWHERE to be found. Finally after 15 minutes the bus girl came and cleared our dishes. But the waitress was MIA. 20 minutes after our dishes had been cleared we were finally sick of waiting, and went to the register where we stood for a few more minutes before a different waitress came over to help us. We could have literally walked out. She asked us where our check was, and we told her that we were wondering the same thing. Then we rattled off what we had ordered, whipped out the debit card, and finally escaped. The clientele at Bob's was mostly elderly or older folks. I'm convinced that it's because they are all still sitting there waiting on their checks from 20 years ago. Never again. Bob's you are officially at the bottom of the list. read more

Open 24-7, open until 2 on thanksgiving day. Awesome hours. A good place to go when it is really late, or really early. The most recent visit was after an 10k run - so really famished I have visited this diner about ten times, never when any other options are open and always when I am really hungry. And I always order breakfast, because it is very hard to mess up breakfast and it is even harder when you have lots of practice. I think the trick of enjoying a meal at Bob's is to order breakfast and be in a somewhat altered state of mind (hungry and/or wasted). Also, avoid anything that requires fresh produce. With that caveat, I have to say the breakfast at Bob's is okay. My food has always been warm enough, thoroughly cooked and promptly presented. While, I am sure that most of the ingredients arrived on the back of a Sysco truck, they do a good enough job for me to ignore that and keep Bob's as a viable last resort. read more

Dear Bob's, Thanks for always being there, for being open 24/7, 365 days per yer. I really appreciate knowing that when I'm in the Capital Region and in need of some late night greasy spoon action, you're there waiting for me with open arms. When I'm feeling suffocated by a too long visit home or when I'm feeling tipsy from a too long visit to some local drinking establishment, you always know just what I need - a yummy breakfast sandwich or a delicious cheeseburger platter. AS for Bob, the man, the myth, the legend, I've never met you. I'm not even sure if you're still with us, but you, sir, are a wonderful human being. As those crazy golden girls would say: thank you for bein' a friend. read more

It's a diner, so I'm not really expexting much. But the food is good and always hits the spot. Can get crowded at the end of the night and the patrons at these times aren't always the most behaved, but any other time is what you find at other diners. Not a big fan of their homefries, but I almost always get an order of fries with cheese and gravy. read more

Bobs is a great little Diner. A true landmark. It's always open and you always get good service. I have had lots of menu items most are the staples of most traditional Northeast diners. Bottomless coffee and a Bob's breakfast sandwich is my goto 2am eats before the journey home. read more

Worst home fries I have ever had. They were barely warmed potatoes without any seasoning or flavor. Omelet was good, nothing spectacular. French toast sounds like more on the menu. When it is delivered it is quite a let down. Overall did not live up to the lowest of expectations. read more

This place is solid. A true Watervliet landmark. It's open 24/7 365. I come here for a late night bite after I get out of work (bartender). The menu has pretty much everything. Bob's Diner - Sitting at the bar - Diners Near Me - Watervliet, New York

Sometimes on a Friday or Saturday night I just want to get hammered. So I'll hang out and close down the Black Bear down the road and it's somewhere around 4 when I roll out the door into the middle of a silent, empty 19th street and hope the cops don't decide they're bored enough to bother me. So I'm dragging my carcass through six inches of snow and eventually make my way into Bob's with bloodshot eyes and breath that could kill a full grown yeti with alcohol poisoning. The ladies behind the counter still manage to smile at this gruesome visage and point me to a seat and hand me a menu. There's usually a cup of coffee or two in front of me before I even have to ask. If I have one complaint it's that they seem to have double printed their menu, which makes it a little tricky sometimes. Also, the two ladies behind the counter have the same voice and I think they might be identical twins. Anyway, as far as I can tell, you can get four eggs, a ton of bacon and toast, and almost two plates worth of fried potatoes for not even ten dollars and it's fantastic. They only have one person behind the counter during the day though, and I think stuff costs a little more but it's still not expensive at all If you ask nicely, they will put almost anything on an omelette. Nice folks, good food. read more

Just went for dinner and I order the Chicken Parmesan. The chicken was greasy and rubbery and the pasta was mush. I would say the chicken was processed/frozen and dropped in the deep fryer right out of the freezer. The pasta was obviously cooked previously and microwaved, I took one bite of the Chicken and one forkful of the spaghetti and that was it. I have never had a meal so terrible that I felt compelled to write a review about it. I love diners; not this one. read more

This place really scrapes the bottom of the barrel as far as restaurants go. Everything is premade and either frozen or from a can. I didn't think it was possible to screw up breakfast but they serve microwave bacon and make their french toast from a regular slice of white bread. The food is cheap but if you are concerned with cost just go to the grocery store. You can pick up the same food there and make it at home and it will taste a whole lot better. read more

I always enjoy the idea of a big breakfast (bacon, eggs, thick and hearty sausage gravy, fluffy biscuits--I could go on...), but I have never experienced a restaurant that has been able to match the quality of a nice, home-cooked morning feast. And Bob's Diner is just like every other diner: average to poor. I got there, and it took them about 15 minutes to take my order...A bit too long, I feel. I got a Western omelette, but it was not particularly well-advertised that it came drenching in cheese (I am lactose intolerant). I asked to get it redone, and was met with a bit of cold and disgruntled service...But this level of mediocre to poor service was not out-of-left field; I was, after all, at a greasy spoon diner. It took about another 15 minutes to get the new omelette, which was a bit goopy, or in other words: rushed and undercooked. Service: 1 star Food: 2 stars Rounded down, wouldn't come here again. read more

Good food. Good prices. Good service. Open 24 hours, and that's good, too. Bob's performs admirably and dependably as a neighborhood diner. The fluorescent lights are a little bright, even for a diner, but how bad is that? This is a neighborhood spot that aspires to no more, which is very good indeed. If your expectations are in line with what one can reasonably find at a neighborhood diner, you'll like Bob's a great deal. read more

Will never go there again. When a group of teenagers start trouble with you for no reason. And we were asked to take our food to go and leave, we walk out to a parking lot full of hostile teenagers. After checking relentlessly online for a bite to eat (at 9:45pm) we were relieved to see online, Bobs Diner was open 24 hours. We walked into the place, with a full house, and were turned away with an explanation that the dining room was closed, per Governor Dickhead. I understand that during COVID, for whatever egotistical reason, restaurants close early, but grocery stores can be open later. However, it would be nice if someone took the 2 mins and changed the time online, to the correct one. Side note..... There were gunshots on the very next street over. We don't appreciate risking our lives for absolutely nothing, after driving out of our way. So please beware and aware you may eat lead instead of eggs benedict. read more

This is a bit late. On January 14, 2021, I and a friend stopped at Bob's Diner for dinner (since you can do that up to 9p.m., dining room closed at 9:30p.m.) We got a cheeseburger with fries and gravy, swiss mushroom burger with sweet potato fries and drinks. I have to tell you the food was AWESOME! Burgers done perfectly and those sweet potato fries were so good, hot, fresh, no salt as requested and I tried the fries with gravy. Okay, some at Bob's has perfected the gravy to the exact science of gravy. Hello can you say my taste bits were dancing happily? Seriously folks support your local diners and restaurants I know Bob's has been in Watervliet for many decades and the food is ALWAYS good. Special thanks to Rick and Cody on that Thursday night for a delicious dinner, great service, happy conversation and again AWESOME FOOD!!!! You guys knock it out of the park. The one place I know I can go and NEVER be disappointed. (please note I have been popping into Bob's for over 30 years folks, oh and don't forget dessert, yes they have it, I was just too full to eat dessert but could have gotten something to go). Yes they have a TO GO window and you call ahead. AGAIN thank you Bob's Diner and landmark of Watervliet and great food! read more

This place is nothing to brag about. It is a typically diner, I think it is a dive but nonetheless at ok place to grab breakfast, especially in wee hours of the morning after drinking all night. Their serving plates look like they are about 40 years old, just funny to me that their haven't updated plates, but I guess if it isn't broken why fix it right? I've been here a few times and ordered their breakfast sandwich nothing special, serves it's purpose along with their home fries. This time during my visit I order blueberry pancakes and a side of bacon which was awesome. You can totally tell they make their own batter, nice and airy pancakes good.
