Great food anytime of the day. Amazing breakfast sandwiches. My favorite local dinner for a quick bite to eat.

Not the bobs of our memories. My husband not being local, had never been to Bobs. Being a staple in my upbringing I had to bring him. What a mistake. At first entrance I was impressed with the renovations. We stood at the divider as employees filled drinks, rolled silverware, cashed people out and even chatted with zero acknowledgement. Zero not even a glance up even though we were directly in front of one employee the entire time. After more than 5 minutes my husband said do we seat ourselves? Still nothing so we left. I can't comment on the food because we never even made it to a booth. My husband will never experience bobs and I'll never go back. Zero acknowledgement in the service industry is unacceptable. I wonder if the staff knew our intention on breakfast today was to pay it forward with a $100 tip if we would have been treated differently? Worst place i've been in a while, over priced, could've went to a really nice dinner for less money. I was charged $26 for a soda and a cheeseburger club THAT CAME with salad and fries on the menu the price reads $10.95 but i was charged for my mac salad and fries separately. Very misleading. Also, the lady behind the counter was RUDE to me and my friends and when we asked about why we were being charged so much, she even said "who would like to argue." Bad customer service lots of favoritism place was full waited 20 mins for a table to find out a random person come in out of nowhere and end up getting my table mind the fact I have a 18th month old they told me to wait on another table that just got their check I left and don't plan on going back. read more

It's an awesome diner and unbelievably affordable!! Those are two things you can rarely find. I'm a night owl so my post is for those of you who are up late. The food is great for the price. And although Friday and Saturday nights it gets packed with people who have partied all night it's still a good place to go. Or you can always do takeout :) just as good. I've only had one Poor experience mid day a few months back. But I can't take one persons attitude on the remaining positivity from the business. Great Food great price!! Bob's is my favorite upstate NY breakfast spot. It is the best bang for your buck. My mom and I love to go for breakfast, and it is so much food that we always leave with a to-go box for lunch too. They make the best breakfast because their home fries are crispy, they know how to grill a bagel, and the pancakes are perfect. They serve breakfast 24-7. If you haven't tried Bob's and you love breakfast, you are missing out. read more

The first time I came here, they managed to serve me chicken that was completely hot on the outside, but completely frozen on the inside. The second time I come here, they managed to serve a breakfast that was completely cold. My eggs were cold, my sausage was cold, my bacon was cold. Cold. My toast wasn't even toasted; they were just taken out of a bag, heated on the griddle and thrown on my plate. I wished the coffee burned my taste buds, but unfortunately, the coffee wasn't hot enough to do the job. They, however, managed to cook my pancakes to the point where they resembled and tasted like vulcanized rubber. I guess you could consider that the high point of the meal. read more

I'd rate this place zero stars if possible. Where do I start.... Waited 10 minutes until asked what our group of four wanted to drink. Coffee came and we were given cream, no sugar. No big deal but it would have been nice to get a spoon to stir our coffee with. Appetizers come out drenched in side sauces we had asked for, a little annoying but whatever. Each of us four had our dishes messed up. Some of it was fixed, other items just straight up werent delivered, even after politely reminding twice. When the server would swing by (I think we saw her 3 times and we were the only people there) it was all attitude. Bill was messed up and overcharged so we brought it to the cooks attention because the waitress was still no where to be found. When he called out to her she shouted back "Can't you see I'm in a conversation?" and never came by. we had to have another server bring the check and make the corrections for us. On top of that all of our food was server cold or under cooked. The 4 of us are all understanding people as we too are in the service industry, just having finished a very long night shift at a local bar (all of us stone sober, it was a rough night). We are extremely polite to our waitresses, do not make special requests, and tend to tip very well. All in all, the problems mentioned above don't even include it all, it was worse. If you are looking for a good meal or at the very least good service DO NOT go to this place for either. read more

When you think "greasy spoon", think Bob's Diner. Standard diner fare is offered up 24 hours a day at this Watervliet institution. Their coffee is good, the onion rings are tasty and their desserts are fabulous (go for the strawberry shortcake). Great for that late meal after a night out or a study break while in college. read more

Where to start, where to start... For months now we (Sharon F. and I) have been lamenting the fact that our favorite local diner (Doesn't everyone have one?) seemed to have gone down the tubes. Recently our diner remodeled and after reopening the food quality seems to have suffered as well as the fact that the diner was no longer open 24 hours a day. So, our search began... Before Christmas we found a candidate, unassumingly named "bob's diner". Hoping that the diner was open late we called ahead to find out. The call went something like this: Us: "Hello, we just wanted to know until what time you're open?" Them: "Thanksgiving." A new hope, 24 hour service, the way a diner should be. Unfortunately we couldn't muster up the energy to go that night, so the diner was relegated back to our 'gotta go there some time' pile. (It's quite a large pile). These many months later bob's diner resurfaced upon the pile, and we decided to give it a try. Right from the moment we walked in the diner had the feel of a real old-fashioned diner. We were invited to seat ourselves at any free table, and the waitress promptly brought us menus. The offerings were mostly classic diner fare, no surprises there, but how would it taste? Thankfully, we needn't have worried. We ordered an appetizer to share and decided to split two dinner entrees. Sharon ordered a cup of coffee and I got myself a soda. Normally I wouldn't go into detail about the drinks, but I wouldn't want anyone to miss out on that fabulous black gold served at bob's diner. The coffee was simply divine. And this is coming from someone who doesn't drink coffee. The coffee is from a company called 'Chris coffee' and was incredibly smooth to drink. Of course the refills on the coffee are free, as it should be. (Soda refills are 50 cents). Then the appetizer arrived, we had ordered the skinless chicken tenders, half buffalo, half teryaki (Combo #2). The buffalo sauce was slightly vinegry, though still throughly enjoyable. The teryaki sauce had an enjoyable sweet and tangy combination. It was well worth the price. It was about at this time that we realized we'd found a local secret, as more and more customers slipped in for a reprieve from the cold. It wasn't too loud, rather the diner was endowed with a very relaxed atmosphere thanks to the conversations going on around us. Our entree arrived fresh and hot, a platter of southern style fried chicken for Sharon and a cheese steak for myself (accompanied with cheesy waffle fries). The cheese steak was just a tad greasy, just the way I like it, giving it a warm chewy feeling that just makes you forget the cold outside. Sharon's fried chicken entree though was enough to feed us both! the crust on the skin was peppery and crunchy, a wonderful combination to encase the moist chicken inside. Even the side of cole slaw was delightful, fresh and not drowned in a pool of mayonnaise. It only took us a few bites of our entrees and we understood just why this place had such patronage. Classic diner fare served well, and at a good price... We'd found our local diner. ... Now if only I could find a good sushi bar, maybe next week? read more

I have eaten here many times, great place to go to after hours, since it is really the only place open. Many items on the menu can be made easily at home, nothing really stands out to me. But overall, if you want a quick bite and don't want to cook, this is a good place to grab some grub, whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or a midnight snack. read more

I love this place. They are open 24/7 which is always a plus for late-nighters and early birds. I really don't know much about their entire menu, but breakfast is amazing here. Their hot chocolate is AMAZING. It's like a liquid hug. It's next to the train tracks, which is pretty cool when you want to have some pennies flattened while you eat. haha The only problem I see is the amount of drunk people that come in here between 12 and 3am. I've been eating before and fights have broken out and people have puked on the floor. But I guess that's a problem with any place that's open 24/7. Went on Saturday night. The cook was great the food was perfect... The SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! Both waitresses were rude. The first one to wait on us kept coming back after being asked to give us some time to view the menu. Then they took about 25 minutes to being out our food (grilled chicken, with home fries and eggs benedict with home fries) Not a very hard order very simple and fast. Like I said the cook was great came out and said the poached were on point and he was right they were perfect! Well done to you Sir! We finally got our food.. no napkins, no offer to refill drinks... served with a attitude.. As we finished our meal the check was left on the table but I still had more than half of my meal in front of me and no offer of a "To Go" box.. We sat there for about a half hour wait for someone to ask if I wanted the rest of my meal wrapped to go. NOTHING! Finally we decided to just go pay and leave. You know as soon as we were paying they wanted to act all nice and sweet asking how everything was... I walked away and let me love handle the bill... Reasons why NO tip was left... 1) The waitresses were very rude! 2) One of the waitresses felt it was okay to sit in the dinning room and play on the cell phone while a group of young men were waiting to be waited on. 3) You complained about customers INFRONT of customers! 4) When a women had a question as to why the tip was not showing on her receipt one of the waitress felt it was okay to keep telling her to make a mental note of the tip that was added... ignorant! 5) You didn't smile, or have light conversation with any customer... 6) You maybe working the night/overnight shift.... but you still have to look presentable! Me and my boyfriend wanted to treat ourselves out for dinner, and wanted to go to a diner for options. The menu was limited and it's mainly a breakfast place. The service was very slow and there was all of 4 tables there. I got a chicken sandwich, and no joke, it was the size of a white castle burger. The ice tea tasted HORRIBLE. This place was horrible. I grew up in Guilderland and recently moved to watervliet. We go to breakfast every Sunday and Bobs diner is down the road so we decided to try it out. HORRIBLE service. They are clearly only nice to there regulars! I went when I was moving in with my sister and a friend and I felt VERY judged. So the 2nd time with my fiancé and same thing... older women was our waitress. seemed like she had been there her whole life. she was clearly talking about me over where they get the drinks. Took forever to get us anything. Was just really miserable. She'd laugh or smirk whenever I ordered anything. the experience was odd. both times odd. its like she hated me for no reason?! The food was boring. first time had dinner... was plain. 2nd time had breakfast... was nothing special at all. not impressed especially with the attitude they have there! I guess if your not a local watervliet person who goes there every week they don't care about you! I felt very unwanted. 2 bad... b/c we would of went every Sunday!
