Found this hidden gem in Tucson where many of the local folks go, and it is worthy of a top rating! Old style country breakfast and warm & friendly service. Do yourselves a favor and experience the love!

If you're in Tucson and craving that no-nonsense, feel-good, classic breakfast, Bobo's is basically a rite of passage. This spot is old-school in the best way; nothing fancy, nothing pretentious, just straightforward comfort food that hits the morning reset button. They've got all the breakfast staples covered, but their pancakes? Those come with a twist. Think fluffy, oversized, and just quirky enough to stand out. Prices are refreshingly affordable, portions are exactly what you'd hope for (big enough to hold you over. Only catch? The place is small. Bobo's is one of Tucson's classics for a reason. Great breakfast, fun twists, friendly people, and prices that won't hurt your feelings.

Biscuits with Sausage Gravy

If you're looking for fancy, keep driving. But if you want a classic greasy spoon that smells like sizzling sausage and burnt coffee in the best possible way -- this is it. The biscuits and gravy are unapologetically creamy, the sausage does its job (greasy, salty, no notes), and the whole thing feels like a warm hug from your slightly chaotic favorite aunt. Service is quick and friendly, coffee refills come without asking, and you leave feeling like you made a good life choice for under $15. Nothing mind-blowing, but it hits that simple, satisfying spot perfectly.

The food was excellent! Staff was very friendly. The flies were a little annoying, but the place was clean other than that. Pancakes were amazing.

One of our Tucson breakfast favorites. The wait can be long on the weekends so go early or after the morning rush to avoid the wait. This place really has the nostalgic diner feel and is always full of locals. The pancakes are MASSIVE and worth the wait every time. We've tried a number of omelets and the the items that come with sausage gravy, all good!

I heard and read about Bobo's Restaurant on Grant Avenue Tucson, AZ. It was highly recommended. It is not a real fancy restaurant but the food was delicious. My wife had a special which included a large blueberry pancake, one egg, one sausage and a piece of bacon for $7.99. Yes, that is not a misprint. I was wondering how she liked her special. Well, she devoured everything which tells me what she thought. I had a roast beef sandwich with tomato, lettuce, cheese on sourdough bread and it hit the spot. Many items on the menu. Check it out. The service was very good. Friendly. As we were checking out, I asked when they opened. 5:30AM-1:00PM. They are closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Always busy. Parking is tight. Credit cards accepted.

Best chicken fried steak I've had in Tucson so far! The service was amazing, quick, and friendly. Staff made us feel very at home. Apple pancake was crazy delicious too, bang for your buck. It's small on the inside but very mighty. If there's a line, the wait is worth it. Can't recommend this place more.

The best Chicken Fried Steak! The best customer service! The actual restaurant is small, mom n pop style it isn't the prettiest place but the food and service is great. One pancake is all you need for a family of 4 at least.

Great reality. I liked the look and feel. Real kitchen. Simple breakfast but I loved their blue berry pancakes. The staff was as real as people get. Friendly and supportive. Loved them.

Is bobo's closed? Went today and was boarded up?

They are closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Other than that they are open for breakfast and lunch until 1 pm.

We drove by multiple times this week and it appears closed? Are we going to the wrong location? The address here on Yelp is the one we are using, is there perhaps a back entrance?

They're only open for breakfast and lunch. What hours have you stoped by? The entrance is in front facing Grant.

Every morning on my way to TMC, I stopped at Bono's for a quick breakfast. But they have not been open the last couple weeks. What's up?

The owners are on vacation for a few weeks

Tried black Decaf Coffee $2.75 though he wasn't sure what it was -- excellent flavor, dark roast, clean, no burnt caramel afterburn. Cinni Roll Pancake $8 for 10"-11" was 5/5 delish, crisp on exterior and soft and puffy 1/2" thick with sweet cream cheese glaze drizzled all over. Would get that to side next time as I watch sugars but still craving another bite day after! Definitely returning just for this! $23.50 oops Alexis Burnt the Meet was just aok but split charge $1.50 and served in a bowl looks cool but eating it turns everything into a sloppy mess. Would advise avoid the charge and ask for a 2nd plate so you can better delineate flavors. Also changed tots to hash browns, avoiding the fryer, so that also made it more mushy. Burnt ends very greasy and fatty so no do over but will go for a diff plate next time. The Cinful pancake will keep you a-coming so lots of options to try next plus they didn't have waffles available so that's a must do too!

It's a very casual place staffed by kind and welcoming students, and the food is genuinely good. The Smoked Salmon Beni stood out in the reviews, and it did not disappoint when I finally got to try it. I'll be attaching a photo, but it tasted every bit as good as it looked. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and overall character of the place.

These Pastries Should Probably Be Illegal…read more Prep & Pastry has been serving Tucson since 2014, and after eating here, I completely understand why they've built such a loyal following. This review is only about the pastries because the rest of their menu deserves an entirely separate review. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly light and airy everything was. Every bite felt fresh, fluffy, and perfectly balanced. The frosting wasn't overly sweet, and nothing tasted heavy or overwhelming. As I've gotten older, I've become much more conscious about what I eat. Surprisingly, these pastries never leave me with that "I shouldn't have done that" feeling. They're indulgent without being excessive. Now let's address the real issue... I always buy two. Not because I'm planning ahead. Because I know exactly what's going to happen if I don't. I'll eat one in the parking lot, sit there for a minute pretending I'm satisfied, then make what is almost certainly an illegal U-turn and head back inside for another. At this point, I believe the owners should stand trial in a savory Food Court of Law. Dun... Dun... "In the Criminal Food Justice System, pastry-based crimes are considered especially delicious. In Tucson, the dedicated foodies who investigate these sugary felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Pastry Unit. These are their stories." Prep & Pastry is guilty of making "I'll just have one" the biggest lie you'll tell yourself all week. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or simply because life is better with a great pastry, this place delivers. WIT Inspection Score: -- Truly Among the Best.

9.5/10 | Absolutely Amazing!…read more Everything about this place was fantastic! I ordered the mole enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious. The mole tasted exactly how authentic mole should taste, rich and full of flavor. I even mixed my side of rice into the mole because it was THAT good! To drink, I had the Mazapán horchata, and WOW! Coming from El Paso, where there's no shortage of amazing horchata, I can confidently say this was probably the best I've ever had. For dessert, I had the pastel de galleta, and it was easily one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. So simple, yet so incredibly delicious! Only open for breakfast, this little coffee shop packs in a lot of charm. I parked in the small lot in front. Ambiance (5/5): Definitely charming. It's a grab-and-go place for some, but for those that stay, there's a decent amount of seating outside. You're surrounded by a nice garden area, so it makes for a nice place to enjoy your beverage or some food. As long as the weather cooperates. Service (5/5): You place your order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. The lady working the counter was super friendly. A bright smile goes a long way. She was lovely. Drinks (5/5): While I'm not a coffee drinker, I'm a big fan of lemonade. They have a berry lemonade that has berries in it (blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries). Good size and it was very refreshing. One of the best lemonades I've had in quite some time. Food (4/5): Barista is known for its breakfast burritos and I love a good breakfast burrito. You'll find your usual ingredients here for the most part e.g. chorizo, egg, potato, bacon, ham, etc. Which I could have easily done. Instead, I decided to roll the dice and get my burrito with macheca. Which is a dried out Sonoran beef jerky of sorts. Heavily spiced. With a bit of a kick. I had never had it, and I must say, I'm not a huge fan. The lady who took my order complicated this gringo on my selection, but too strong of a taste for me. I'm sure I would've enjoyed one of the other proteins more. With that being said, it's a good portion (essentially two burros) and it was grilled nicely. It made for a filling, and satisfying, breakfast on the road.
