My feelings for this place are mixed, on the one hand we were seated fast and the service was quick at first; the food came out perfect and fast...on the other hand as far as service, we were abandoned as soon as we received our food. They made the attempt to offer refills after getting the bill, so nice try for the attempt. They don't have hash browns here which for a breakfast joint is kinda weird. Instead they serve stewed potatoes which are called "home fries"...wasn't impressed at all, and how this place got so many good reviews is beyond me? Anyways, the table setup in this place is horrible, feels crowded and you have to be careful not to bump into people. So everytime we go to bobos I always get the chicken fried steak & my husband gets the 1 banana pancake, 2 eggs, sausage and bacon, & home fries. And that is enough food for both of us and our two daughters. The banana pancake is huge and so delicious w/ a crunchy caramel that forms from the sugar and cinnamon they sprinkle on top!! What can I say, even during a pandemic Bobo's still is the best breakfast in Tucson one can buy with good hard earned green backs. The only thing that I might suggest is that Bobo's might want to think their property size of their pancakes, they are just so small ;-). If you have ever been to Bobo's you know what I mean, if you haven't just whatever you do, don't order a double stack. There just isn't enough butter and syrup that can fit in the plate and as far as I know I am the only person that can eat two but that is because I am from the deep South where if you cannot eat a full order of biscuits and gravy with all the trimmings you ain't no man. If you haven't been here it is with the wait outside to get a table, no kidding even if it is over to hours, and if you have then do the crew at Bobo's a favor and go grace them with you presence again. Bobo's is one of my favorite breakfast places in Tucson. I would give it 5 stars for the food, but the atmosphere is more like 2 or 3 stars. The restaurant is really small and old and because the kitchen is in the same area as all the tables it can get hot. It's also extremely loud. However, the food makes up for it!! It has a home cooked meal type of feel to it, and the portions are huge (especially the pancakes). The huevos rancheros are really good, although they're not prepared the typical way, but they're still amazing! The pancakes (particularly the banana pancakes) are some of the best pancakes I've ever had! And this is coming from someone who doesn't usually like pancakes. I mean seriously, I could eat the banana pancake plain with no syrup and it's still the best pancake I've ever had. The service is great and the food comes out quick. This is a better version of The Waffle House, much better. The atmosphere isn't the greatest but what you get is a home cooked breakfast you'd get at moms. There was a 30 minute wait when we got there on a Sunday, that's always a good sign whenever you see people lined up outside a little run down joint. So about the food...I ordered the chicken fried steak, it came with eggs, toast and potatoes. I like the way they cook their potatoes, by the way, mmmmm! But let's talk about that banana pancake though! Considering I'm a sweet tooth, I really enjoy a good tasting pastry to go along with my morning cup of coffee. It was like a banana flavored cinnamon roll but not short and round, it was a large and in charge pancake! It was really lovely, I'd recommend that to fellow sweet tooths . Ok, so all of that came out pretty fast considering the place was packed, the employees were friendly and on top of their game. Be sure to try their pancakes, as this seems to be what they are most known for. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with 2 eggs combo, as well as a banana pancake. The chicken fried chicken was served with potatoes and 2 eggs (I ordered them sunny side up), all topped with a white gravy. The chicken was a little on the dry side, making it difficult to cut. However, the combination of the crunch skin with the gravy was delicious, especially when all mixed up with the hot potatoes and yolks from the eggs. However, the real gem of this place was the enormous pancakes they serve. The pancake quite literally filled up the entire plate they served it on, and then some. The sugar on the pancake caramelized beautifully, and the natural sugars from the thinly sliced bananas made it so that the entire cake was so delicious I didn't even feel the need to add any syrup. The sweetness of the bananas with the light and airy cake was absolutely delightful. Next time I'll be sure to try their other pancakes! read more

First off, order a pancake. Any kind. But really...it's what this place is famous for. My banana pancake came out as big as the plate and since they sprinkle cinnamon sugar on it while it's cooking you end up with almost a sweet dessert-esque pancake with huge slices of banana and crunchy caramelization on it...yum. The prices are as great as the pancakes, and I believe for somewhere in the vicinity of $5.75 I received a huge banana pancake, 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon. Can't beat it. Since most of these reviews mentioned the college crowd hitting after 10, I thought we would be safe at 8:30. Nope...this is just one of those places that will ALWAYS be packed on a Saturday morning. However they're great at getting people in and out quickly. I will definitely return Update: Ordered the ham scramble today...no cheese which I was surprised but it was just average.
