Tried to have breakfast with my wife and daughter this morning at Bobo's. We entered and there was a party of two waiting for a table inside the door. The waitress told me to put my name on a paper and how many we had so I did. While standing next to the pair waiting the waitress came back and asked if I put my name down and then told me we would need to wait outside until she had a table ready. Apparently this was the second time she told me because she said louder to another person "just ignore me, I guess I'll just talk to myself" as I turned around. The other couple waiting were not told to stand outside. It was cold and windy so I was not going to have my wife and daughter standing outside. I love Arizona! Of course I have only visited Surprise in June, and I was eating here at Bobo's in November. So I don't think I got a good sense of the weather. This is an amazing breakfast joint. I liken it to growing up with parents that cooked you eggs and bacon. Come here and it's like your family made you breakfast. The best part of Bobo's is a tiny observation: how they do toast. I was accidentally given someone else's rye toast, and it was perfectly buttered. You know most places that butter your toast barely put any on? Not Bobo's, they slather those slices with salted butter, and get this, it's still warm! I was in heaven. The girl who actually ordered the toast? Not so much. We tried asking around! I guess she didn't hear us. I try to stay away from chains. This way you get better service. By the time I left, the parking lot for Bobo's was completely packed! It is a tiny space so I recommend you get your breakfast early before the rush. If you have to sit in the middle of the restaurant, there's nowhere to put your purse down, so I had to balance mine on top of my feet. Either way, the breakfast is worth it. Enjoy! read more

Why home fries like that aren't offered at other establishments is a mystery to me Probably smart on Bobo's part since they are surely one of their delicious specialties. Several lunch options caught my eye but I decided on the patty melt A perfectly cooked, cheesy and oniony sandwich so filling I wanted to unbuckle my belt. Customers are rich and poor, redneck and hipster, young and old. I'm just thankful to say I've now been brought in to this little diner's fold. This is one of the few Tucson based restaurants I raved about to my friends and family in Australia. Local joints always have a distinct appeal, but Bobo's is something else. Friendly staff and - the obvious centrepiece - fantastic food. My first experience at Bobo's was in late 2013. I made the mistake of ordering two pancakes, thinking they'd be about the same size you'd find at a Denny's. I was about as wrong as could be. They're huge! And, might I add, delicious. My friend had heard about this place, so we drove over around 12:45 for a brunch. They had lunch options, but many of them had meat (except for the grilled cheese). We both ordered from the breakfast side; I got French toast, and egg and sourdough bread toast. Loved the French toast, had a cinnamon roll flavor. Very busy restaurant, seems to be popular among college students and the young adult crowd in Tucson. These folks have a ridiculously inexpensive menu. $1.50 for their early bird breakfast, weekdays before 8am, will get you two eggs/hash potatoes (the real stuff w/ skin!)/toast. If you can't possibly roll out of bed that early then you'll have to fork over a whole extra dollar. Whew. Might as well order a huge plate-sized banana pancake while you're at it. Fresh slices of banana with the browned cinnamon sugar is delectable. And you only need to dig out $3.50 in change from your ash tray. I couldn't eat it all but had to try it. This is a hole in the wall place, nothing fancy, with old fashioned bar stools along the counter. Brings me back warm memories of eating breakfast with my grandpa back in the day. The waitresses have a good time. We caught them dancing a little jig. Oh yeah if you wear your Bobos shirt you get a free fountain drink, I think. I figured a grungy spot was a good spot to get a classic american breakfast, especially with the long waits it always had, but all I got was sick. It's a small, casual, old diner that always has a wait. Even during weekdays, people pile up outside. My fiancee absolutely loved his huge tasty perfectly cooked banana pancake, and enjoyed his sausages, bacon, and eggs. I ordered the Bobo's veggie omelet which sounded good with spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers etc, but right away felt the omelet was overstuffed with sour cream. I thought it would be dolloped on the outside, but it was hard to remove since it was saturated inside. I was then sick for the rest of the weekend, details I'll spare readers. I've never had this reaction to any other restaurant in Tucson. I'm not sure if the sour cream was rotten but I definitely won't be back. Stars are for my fiancee's experience since he enjoyed his food and did not get sick. Prices are good for huge portions. read more
