    Love the wings.

We have been to BobaQue several times, and I've never been disappointed. The barbecue is top-notch, and we really enjoyed Wednesday wing and trivia night. Everyone there is extremely friendly, and ambience is very unique. They have indoor and outdoor space as well as music.

Not thrilled after two visits. Fantastic wings but thats about it. First visit, they advertised being open on a Sunday on Facebook. We drove out that way late afternoon looking forward to a meal on that patio yet they had closed without warning. Newtown is a bit off the beaten path so we weren't thrilled. Second visit was a Saturday evening, around 5pm. They were out of multiple items and only offered 1 appetizer. We ordered the appetizer but it came out with our meal. Brisket was dry. Sides were good. Catfish was nothing special. We could tell this establishment needs some work. It has potential but not enough for us to come back anytime soon.

I had the the 20-ounce ribeye I ordered medium. As you can see, it was significantly undercooked, closer to rare, with a good sear on the outside but a cool, red center. I only had a few bites in the restaurant, and those pieces were closer to medium. My server did offer to have it cooked longer, which I appreciated, but I declined since I knew I'd finish cooking it at home. That said, it was still disappointing because it was nowhere near the medium temperature I requested. With cuts this thick, it may be challenging to consistently hit the desired doneness, so that's something to keep in mind. On a positive note, the flavor and seasoning were great. The service was also excellent, and I really enjoyed the baked beans and catfish fritters. Just a heads up, they charge for hot sauce, so you may want to bring your own if that's your thing!

This was my first visit to New Town - the entire area is a vibe. Bobaque is nestled in this cute town featuring food, music and fun. There is a lively outdoor patio complete with a stage and mood lights - perfect for entertainment. They also have VIP rooms if you want a smaller private area complete with a tv and comfortable seating. There is a small indoor dining area to sit and eat and watch tv or have a drink at the bar. My group ordered and sat on the patio to watch a live performance. I had a small rib tip plate with potato salad - wow it was fall off the bones delicious. The meat was tender and seasoned well and had just the eight amount of bbq sauce. My portion was huge. The potato salad was good as well. It's worth a drive to go check the place out. The service was good - it does take a little bit to get your food - it was pretty crowded. They host a lot of events so check the calendar of events and head on out there to give them a try!

They were great when they operated as a stand, but since transitioning to a restaurant, it's been a different story. We've tried to support them and have gone five times now, really wanting to give a local spot our business. The first visit was right after they opened -- understandable hiccups, but the food was cold. We ordered the brisket special, which ended up being $40 even though it wasn't listed on the menu. We also asked for wings, were told they didn't have any, only to see two trays of wings brought out minutes later. We figured it was opening week, so we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We've driven by many weekends and seen the place packed, so we thought maybe they'd worked out the early issues. Today, we saw a sign advertising $1 wings and Sunday Ticket specials, so we decided to give it another try. Showed up at 4 PM, only to be told they were closed -- despite Google showing hours as 4-9 PM on Sundays. It's frustrating because the place clearly has potential, and we've heard both good and bad from others. But consistency is key in any business. Here are some tips for the owner: * Be consistent with your hours -- and update them everywhere, not just Facebook. * Post accurate, visible pricing so customers know what to expect. * Ensure food is served hot -- it's a basic expectation. * Use multiple platforms to communicate updates, not just Facebook.

I enjoyed my meal and cocktail on the outside patio while listening to a live violinist. It took a long time for the food/drinks to come out but worth the wait. I wouldn't recommend visiting if you're in a hurry.

I enjoyed their turkey melt. It was simple. Not over complicated. Not overly flavorful either. It wasn't bad, but it didn't send my taste buds into a chasm of mesquite as i had hoped. The service was good. But, not in a well manicured way. More of a this is very informal dining and holler if ya need me way. Very polite, unpolished, and taken care of. But, it didn't feel like hospitality in the formal sense you imagine when thinking of a sit down dinner. I hope that doesn't come off as a knock or jest. I intend it to be perceived much more as ambivalent. Anyways, no rush to get back, but if my friends wanna go, ill oblige

The staff were friendly and food delivery was reasonably quick. The burnt ends did not "melt" in my mouth like a proper burnt end should. They were fibrous and took a bit of chewing. They were also too sweet, so the meat's natural flavor was masked. The sausage was just OK, nothing special to look forward to. The potato salad was overly mustard based and unenjoyable. Two bites were all I could stand. The baked beans with pulled pork were very good. They could have better if they were more savory and less sweet. If I hadn't just visited family in Austin, TX, perhaps I would've been more favorable to Hendricks. Instead, I had recent reminders of how far they fell short of even average Texas BBQ, let alone Terry Black's. I'm not planning on returning.

I split a full rack with mom for my most recent birthday meal and I was not disappointed! Naturally, we each had plenty of leftovers. The ribs came out with that perfect dark, smoky bark that's packed with flavor. The meat underneath was oh so tender. For one side, I went with applesauce - a classic. Appropriately chilled, it was a nice, fresh component to a largely roll-me-out-the-door meal. It was topped with a very confident amount of cinnamon. Heavy-handed for my taste, but if cinnamon is your jam, you'll be thrilled. The baked beans, however, came in hot. And I don't mean temperature; I mean with a spicy surprise. The sweetness of the applesauce cut down the bite of the heat, but I longed for milk to put out the little fire on my tongue. I have a low threshold for spicy food, so you may be quite alright with it, but it was a surprise to me. Pappy's is, hands down, my go-to BBQ spot. First enamored by the location nearest downtown, and thoroughly thrilled when they arrived in my city.

I ordered a 2-meat platter with burnt ends that were phenomenal and the smoked habanero turkey that was moist and delicious and the spicy BBQ sauce adding a nice little zing. I was a little disappointed that the place didn't offer cornbread or Texas toast with the platter and I didn't think to ask until after I got my food. Sides were good and I thought the baked beans were very good but the Mac n Cheese was a little too cheese-whizzy for me and wasn't too crazy about it but will get potato salad next time. Also I'll try their brisket on the next visit l since that's my measure of truly great Texas style BBQ. It's kind of an odd setup for a restaurant since it's inside a service station but it's a really nice service station and the restaurants decor is pretty nice. I wasn't sure what to order, but the friendly staff recommended that I have the brisket, and I'm so glad I heeded their advice. The brisket sandwich was the most tender meat that I have ever had. I had never had brisket before having that sandwich, now my mouth waters any time I talk about this restaurant! The cole slaw that I had as a side provided the perfect crunch and balance. My mate had the pulled pork sandwich, which was also very tender. I also loved having a variety of barbecue sauces on the table and was able to try each one. Everyone has a preference, I'm sure, but after trying each one, I am completely sold on the Carolina gold. The giant pig statue in front of the restaurant was actually quite informative, as it described where the meat comes from on a pig. Anyway, as I entered the restaurant, I stood in line. It was quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. There are long tables with many seats, so seating wasn't an issue. It is a first come first served dining situation. I ordered the 2-meat plate: brisket, ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket and the sides were definitely my favorite parts. The brisket was so tender, it basically fell apart in my hands! It was delicious! The baked beans were tangy and sweet, and the potato salad was creamy. I didn't like the ribs, they were very dry and definitely not worth the money. The barbecue sauces are in bottles on the table; my personal favorite was the Honey Badger, sweet with a little bit of heat. I found the Coffee BBQ sauce to be the most interesting; I have never had anything like it before. The coffee notes were subtle and helped balance out the smoky flavors. While I enjoyed the majority of my food, I am not sure if I will be returning. It was a nice experience, but the dry ribs left me feeling disappointed.
