We used to really enjoy this place when it was the smaller walk-up operation. The barbecue was great, and we were excited to see them grow into a full restaurant. Unfortunately, our experiences since then have been pretty disappointing. The restaurant seems disorganized, and service has been very slow on multiple visits. The mixed drinks we ordered were also surprisingly weak. The most frustrating experience was when we invited friends to meet us there who drove quite a distance, only to discover that the restaurant was closed despite there being no indication of that on their Facebook page. We actually walked inside and found someone working behind the bar, who then told us they weren't open. Had the closure been posted online, we obviously would have made other plans and saved our friends the drive. We really want to like this place because we remember how good it was before the move to the restaurant. Hopefully they can get the service, organization, communication, and consistency worked out, because the original operation gave us a reason to become customers in the first place. read more

We stopped by after seeing so many great reviews and were excited to finally give this place a try. Unfortunately, we visited on Juneteenth, and it was incredibly busy. There was a long line, no available seating, and we eventually learned that some guests were bringing their own chairs. We were even asked if we had chairs in our car--which we didn't. Had we known the setup beforehand, we would have come prepared. It was a bit overwhelming and felt disorganized, so we ended up leaving without getting a seat or trying the food. That said, we ran into several friends who were there, and they looked like they were having a great time, so it's clear the food and atmosphere are worth checking out. We're chalking our experience up to the holiday crowd, possible short staffing, or simply unfortunate timing. I recently visited BobaQue for a patio concert featuring Rhoda G, who did an outstanding job and put on a fantastic performance. The atmosphere and overall ambiance were great, making it a fun place to spend an evening. As for the food, the barbecue hamburger was amazingly delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the Blueberry Lemon Drop cocktail, as it didn't quite meet my expectations. The wait for food was a bit longer than I would have liked, but in fairness, the place was packed and there were a lot of guests ordering food at the same time. The staff seemed to be doing their best to keep up with the crowd. My only real concern is that the venue feels a little too small for patio concerts featuring artists with a strong local following. It can get crowded quickly, which affects the overall experience. That said, now that I know what to expect, I would absolutely return for both the food and future patio concerts. What a delightful restaurant to spend your summer night! Our server T was fun and had great suggestions. Parking is plentiful unless there is an event. Chris has specials and one of our favorites is oxtail. Rich, well cooked and with his bbq sauce it is divine. I recommend the bourbon lemonade, made with Buffalo Trace. Not thrilled after two visits. Fantastic wings but thats about it. First visit, they advertised being open on a Sunday on Facebook. We drove out that way late afternoon looking forward to a meal on that patio yet they had closed without warning. Newtown is a bit off the beaten path so we weren't thrilled. Second visit was a Saturday evening, around 5pm. They were out of multiple items and only offered 1 appetizer. We ordered the appetizer but it came out with our meal. Brisket was dry. Taco Tuesday at BobaQue in New Town Saint Charles did NOT disappoint. The $2 tequila and $2 jerk chicken tacos were absolute FIRE. The tacos had this incredible balance of flavors, spicy TENDER chicken with jerk seasoning & sweet pineapple mixed in, and whatever else they put in there just made them insanely flavorful. The ambience is really cute, the place is SO clean, and it was great getting to see the owner Chris who is always so sweet. I had the the 20-ounce ribeye I ordered medium. As you can see, it was significantly undercooked, closer to rare, with a good sear on the outside but a cool, red center. I only had a few bites in the restaurant, and those pieces were closer to medium. My server did offer to have it cooked longer, which I appreciated, but I declined since I knew I'd finish cooking it at home. That said, it was still disappointing because it was nowhere near the medium temperature I requested. With cuts this thick, it may be challenging to consistently hit the desired doneness, so that's something to keep in mind. On a positive note, the flavor and seasoning were great. The service was also excellent, and I really enjoyed the baked beans and catfish fritters. Just a heads up, they charge for hot sauce, so you may want to bring your own if that's your thing! read more

I wanted to love this place or make it our go to BBQ spot. We sat on the patio. The patio is nice with a stage for live music. There was no live music last night though as they had just had Dirty Mugs the night b4 with an extremely large crowd. Understandable. The service was not great. I seemed like they had enough staff. The place wasnt packed. It just wasnt managed properly. He has to figure out a better system. We waited 30 min just for water. But our waiter was nice. My husband and son both got ribs. They were very good and were actually grilled. Which is rare these days as most ppl are boiling ribs, slapping on sauce and calling it BBQ. These were good. The pork steak was not good at all. Too big, too thick, and too tough. I left the entire thing there as it was just not edible. Potato salad was good and did not taste store bought. Baked beans were decent. 3 stars because I think they are still in the new stage. Im not a huge pork eater but there are other options on the menu that Ive heard were very good. This was my first visit to New Town - the entire area is a vibe. Bobaque is nestled in this cute town featuring food, music and fun. There is a lively outdoor patio complete with a stage and mood lights - perfect for entertainment. They also have VIP rooms if you want a smaller private area complete with a tv and comfortable seating. There is a small indoor dining area to sit and eat and watch tv or have a drink at the bar. My group ordered and sat on the patio to watch a live performance. I had a small rib tip plate with potato salad - wow it was fall off the bones delicious. The meat was tender and seasoned well and had just the eight amount of bbq sauce. My portion was huge. The potato salad was good as well. It's worth a drive to go check the place out. The service was good - it does take a little bit to get your food - it was pretty crowded. I could never say a bad word about this establishment. The owner is such a wonderful man. His name is Chris Alexander and he works his behind off from early morning to very late at night. They have great food. Excellent service we've always been able to get a seat and we go on the Nights of the big name bands play. We've never had any problem is just a wonderful new addition to the whole St Charles area and I know all of Newtown people support it. The wife is out of town, I'm baching it so I decided to drive into New Town, really heard good reviews on this place. The outdoor seating is very nice, blues is playing in the background, it gives me a New Orleans/Memphis vibe, which BTW is good. I wish they had draft Budweiser, only bottled, that's ok though. Man if you're ever in the St Charles new town area and want to try and support a family run bbq place, come check out BobaQue. Very friendly owner who lived in Asia for a while so wanted to combine bubble tea and bbq; unfortunately (or fortunately?) the bbq side of things got so busy that they currently don't do bubble tea anymore (not sure if it will change in the future) Menu changes daily, with specials throughout the week, (from what I've read / know there is Ribeye Friday and taco Tuesday etc) check their Facebook page to see what they have on the menu for the day. We came on ribeye Friday and ordered the family special, Gigantic Ribeye steak, baked potato, full slab of ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and 10 wings. Bobaqueue portion sizes are huge. The steaks are like 16-20 oz or more, the ribs have so much meat on them. Steaks are cooked to order so you can see and talk to Chris the owner in the back after you order. Steak was cooked exactly medium (the way we ordered it) ribs are not the fall of the bone type, but they are still very tender and delicious. We got the sweet and spicy / Parmesan garlic wings and they were great too. All the sides were fresh and tasty and complemented the meats well. They only have outdoor tables so if it's cold, be warned. We will definitely be back, keep up the good work. read more

My first visit to this place for one of their concerts. The crowd was more than they expected(I'm not sure how when you should be aware of the crowd following the performer has) and due to that my party of 3 sat for 3 hours and were never served, even after each of us spoke to employees and requested a server be sent to our table, we watched as the other patrons around us were served. Had it not been for the great music I would have left after the first hour. The atmosphere was nice though, they need to be better prepared for events or dont have them. Owner grills outside. Service was fast. There is bunch of tables around and even a restroom. Not sure why they call themselves "Bobaque". They serve boba tea but they are actually BBQ place.
