I love coming to spots like this that has a local twang. Such simple southern food that you wouldn't want to pass out on. I got the roast beef and the meat itself was delicious. I could've ate it by itself because it was just on a simple hamburger bun. My fav was the beans, I ate that up so quick. I could've just had a bowl of that and be satisfied haha. Ultimately, I think the sauce selection that they have here is what pulls everything together in a finger licking good way.

My favorite place to take an out of town visitor for some STL bbq. The casual, cafeteria style makes it easy to order and enjoy. My go-to is always the 6 ounce brisket platter with two sides and a drink. The meat comes "dry", because all their different sauces are available on the table so you can mix and match and try as many as you'd like. The staff is always helpful with ordering and making suggestions. It's no surprise why they are an STL favorite!

Definitely not good BBQ spot at all. Came from Chicago and was expecting better since I heard St.Louis had good BBQ. I guess this is more of a BBQ chain restaurant so the quality and flavorful ain't there like other mom and pops joints. As you see, the brisket was super dry. Ribs barely had any meat and were dry as well. No flavor at all. Fries were bland. Only good thing here were the BBQ sauces and the Grape pop/soda. We paid around $40 for 3 meats and definitely don't get that much food as you see in the pictures. Wouldn't recommend it at all.

The food was DELICIOUS I forgot to take pictures ‍ I had the brisket , potato salad, green beans, and Mac and cheese. Everything was delicious the brisket juicy and tender . The restaurant located downtown StL was clean and inviting. The service was great, kind and friendly folks. Down side was the parking is paid, so bring change for the meters 2 hour limit. Overall grateful me and my sister chose to eat here. Next time I'm in town, I'm coming back here

We were visiting St. Louis from Atlanta last week, and Sugarfire BBQ was the highlight of an already great food experience. The food in Atlanta is very bland but the food has been amazing I'm St. Louis. The BBQ was absolutely incredible--everything was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My husband, my son, and I were stuffed for hours, and honestly, we didn't even feel like eating the next day! The portions were generous, the sides were amazing, and the staff was so friendly. St. Louis knows how to do food, and Sugarfire is the perfect example. If you're in town, don't miss this spot--it's worth every bite!

This place came highly recommended. Delicious ribs!! And all the sides were amazing! Best BBQ I've had in St. Louis! Also, we loved the variety of different BBQ sauces.

Stopped by for a late lunch and had an excellent meal. We had brisket, sausage (cheddar & jalapeños), ribs and pulled pork. Sides were plentiful and everything was delicious. Don't forget the cornbread and sweet tea to cap it off. Everything was hot and ready, cafeteria style as you walked through the line with your tray. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend stopping by for some bbq.

We loved our lunch at Sugarfire while visiting friends in St Louis! The food was all great and we loved all of the different options on the menu. The trays were a great way to try lots of different items. Service was quick and easy, and it was a great spot for lunch with a group, even with kids. The ribs were my favorite!

This is a great authentic barbecue place with many different options. I had the smoked turkey, and my friend got a pulled pork sandwich. I was impressed that they offer smoked salmon, and they have wedges of cornbread and desserts (lots of pies) available to take with you. The drinks are self serve soda fountains. The service was fast and friendly. I would definitely return when in St. Louis!

It is a Trojan horse for one of the best burgers in St. Louis (my wife says I'm being dramatic for calling it THE best; I say I am not NOT going back for another). We enjoyed everything we order: the pork belly burnt ends and cashew chicken wings, and a coffee & cardamom old fashioned that sounds like a personality disorder but tastes like a vibe, smoky, a touch sweet, and very drinkable year-round. The Sam Elliott burger, BBQ sauce, bacon, crunchy onions, brioche, is named for a man who has never disappointed anyone, and neither does the sandwich. And the meatloaf is NOT your grandma's brick: tender, charred at the edges, laid over silky mashed potatoes with broccolini, perhaps closer to a chop steak than a loaf in the best possible way. Vibe is farm-chic: old church pews, repurposed interior doors, a proper bar up front, plus a patio and rooftop for when the weather cooperates. Fun fact -- it's named after the blue duck Billy Madison paints in elementary school, which is a fantastic piece of trivia and tells you absolutely nothing accurate about the actual restaurant. 4.7 Stars. Picking Nits: the counter-order setup is efficient, but it sets expectations in the wrong direction for the first 90 seconds, you brace for fast-casual and instead get something considerably more ambitious. Food comes out fast once you've ordered, which is great if you're hungry and slightly jarring if you wanted a slow, lingering dinner. And the Billy Madison naming is charming trivia but entirely misleading as a vibe preview, no complaints about the actual restaurant, just the branding expectations it sets. If The Blue Duck were a character: Ron Swanson. Hear me out. If Ron ate here, he'd be suspicious of the entire experience until his first bite of protein -- the counter ordering, the repurposed doors, a burger named after a fellow mustachioed American, all of it registering as potentially too clever. Then the Sam Elliott hits his plate, he takes one bite, and the skepticism dissolves into the quiet respect of a man who has found his people. Looks rustic. Has strong feelings about meat. Secretly sophisticated -- plays saxophone in a jazz club under a fake name, builds his own furniture, would 100% approve of the farm-chic decor once the protein has spoken. Presents as simple. Isn't.

I've been here many times and sadly I can say twice I had decent food and service…read more Saturday, March 14th we had awful food and the service wasn't any better.

The chicken could have been roasted, and the brisket was inconsistent with some tender pieces next to extremely tough, overcooked pieces. Sides also varied. A side of creamy coleslaw started fine, but ended with a heavy mayonnaise taste by the bottom of the container. The stand outside was crispy, fried okra. Service was attentive and pricing was fair. Smoking Barrels has a comfortable, cozy dining room with outside seating available for those rare, comfortable St. Louis days

A real chef or BBQ enthusiast can tell the difference. We ordered 2 lbs of rib tips, two boxes of pulled pork mixed with brisket, fried okra, and potato casserole. I'll start with the positives: the okra was fried perfectly -- nice and crisp -- and the potato casserole truly made me smile. It tasted exactly like the one my mother makes for Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, so that was a sweet surprise. However, the rest of the experience was just average at best. The rib tips had a good flavor but were extremely dry, and they didn't seem grilled at all -- more like they were baked, just as other reviews mentioned prior. Long time customer's can also tell the difference because people mentioned the brisket and chicken being baked also .. hence why the food is greasy and dry. It's obvious. The pulled pork mixed with brisket honestly tasted like the Jack Daniel's microwaveable pulled pork from the grocery store -- not something I expect when paying restaurant prices. Potion size for the potato casserole was small. As for the garlic bread, it was just okay -- not memorable. Tastes nothing like garlic. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. I wanted to love it, but there are too many better BBQ spots in St. Louis to roll the dice again here.
