I am so sad it took us so long to visit this place. Over the last week, we have been 3x! We mostly order online and pick-up but we have really loved meeting Aaron the owner and he has been so warm and helpful each time we've stopped in. We have tried their brisket, pulled pork, fried and smoked chicken wings, fried okra, Mac n cheese, potato salad and green beans. I am truly obsessed with their fried chicken wings! My partner loved them and their brisket and pulled pork. The sides are solid but the real star is the meat. Although we have not dined in, the restaurant is spacious, clean and well decorated. Service was great. We ordered smoked wings to start, and I got a rib sandwich that came with a side. Wings were decent, they were crispy. I wasn't a fan of the ranch. The rib sandwich consisted of 3 rib bones on garlic toast, and I chose green beans as the side. The ribs were fine; the green beans were average. Late post: Memorial Day Weekend. Driving around looking for St. Louis BBQ. Even stopped in at one place but was sadly informed they were out of ribs. Thanks to this handy app called Yelp, we ended up here at Smoke N Bones. Street parking. If there's a private lot, I missed it. I didn't want to chance a ticket and ended up parking down towards the residences. I didn't see signs for parking restrictions but it was the only parking could find without needing an Uber to get to the restaurant. Walking in, it's a pretty good size space. Both indoor and outdoor seating. No host/hostess - we were greeted and told to sit anywhere. My friend and I ordered a full rack with two sides (see pics). I love it when the ribs are meaty, especially between the bones. And when it's done like I like them - tender but still has a chew and the outside is crisp, but not crunchy. Portion size was huge. We left with leftovers. Service was great. The gentleman who seemed to a one man operation, was attentive and friendly. Place was steady, but not packed yet was still able to take of everything without a hitch. I didn't ask but he may have been the BBQ master as well. And yes, I'd go back. **May 2025: Weekend Evening Visit** My friend and I had a full day in St. Charles, but wanted to enjoy a hearty BBQ dinner. Many restaurants close early in St. Charles (especially on a Sunday), so we drove out to St. Louis to see if we could still find something. We hit up two restaurants who unfortunately were sold out of ribs and made it here to Smoke N Bones BBQ which still had some! We decided to go for it and ordered a full rack with two sides (mac and cheese; baked beans). When the platter came out we were so incredibly impressed with the size and presentation. The ribs were tender and there were two different homemade sauces that you could pair it with. The meal was more than enough for two adults and honestly, three could have probably eaten this amount of food. Parking is on the street and service was very good. My wife got the pulled pork sandwich. It could have used some crispy edges to add a little more flavor- it was just a little too bland. I was greeted immediately upon entry. Employee was helpful and patient while I ordered. The ambiance was calm and relaxed. There were a few patrons that complimented upon leaving, a good sign. I really enjoyed it. Nice bark on the outside, nice little bit of the fat cap left on and just tender enough. The mac n cheese was also enjoyable. The French fries were basic and out of a bag. They had 2 different sauces. One was labeled sweet and one was labeled spicy. I enjoyed the spicy more than the sweet. I'm surprised I've never heard of this BBQ spot before. I'm glad we walked past it and were curious enough to check the place out! When we first walked in, I was a bit skeptical. The place is very quiet with no background music playing. There is no extra lighting inside and was pretty dark inside. We ordered their lunch Brisket platter and 1/3 Ribs platter. Each platter comes with 2 sides, so we got: Fried Green beans, mac n cheese, fries, and cheesy potatoes. The meat pulls right off the ribs easily. Both Ribs and Brisket had great flavors. Like most brisket, it did get a little dry quick when it loses heat. If you use their house BBQ sauces, it tastes great! My favorite sauce was their mustard BBQ. Recommend checking it out! We walked in here on a whim after a stop at the hardware store next door. I'm glad we did. It is some of the best BBQ we've ever had. The rubs were amazing. Smoke N' Bones Barbecue Restaurant, located at 6417 Hampton Avenue in St. Louis Hills, is a good value in great-tasting barbecue. It tries very hard to be that old BBQ shack that you might have found in *Blue Highways*. Someone said real smoked-meat havens are to be found in condemned buildings with at least five calendars on the walls. Well, Smoke N' Bones isn't quite there, but they are making progress -- in a good way. I had my usual pulled chicken salad, which had some really good chicken meat plus a somewhat bland mixture of lettuce and cocktail tomatoes. Absent were the higher-end ingredients such as kale and goat cheese to be had at the down-the-street Salt and Smoke (but, this latter salad was also much more expensive). My sister had a half chicken plus sides. Here is a plus for Smoke N' Bones -- you have the option of ordering a side of chicken, as opposed to meat pulled off the bones. This is a definite advantage. In addition, the family cat loved the leftovers!!!! The decor left a little to be desired. Nothing really bad, but neither did anything jump out as exceptional. A mild negative is the ultra-cheap plastic ware. It is sized for children's hands, and very flimsy. However, my reaction might be conditioned my negative experience with a Government site in Northern Virginia, which I formerly supported as a contractor. Their cafeteria had the same kiddie utensils. The food was the best thing about that place, and it was pretty bad. But, I digress. Back to the present -- Smoke N' Bones' wait and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I hope that their eatery, in its third year of operations, is ultimately successful. Bottom line -- nothing bad here, just a work in progress. The food is okay, if not exceptional. Let's hope that this place is around for years to come, and grows into another great restaurant for the wonderful Hampton Business District. read more

We met friends here and had dinner. The food and service were both excellent. The food was spot on BBQ from the ribs to the brisket. We had the Okra and fried corn sides and both were very good. We were on our way out of town and looking for a some BBQ after visiting the awesome Record Exchange. This place is right down the street, it was kind of an off time. There was only one other person in there, its nice inside with a small outdoor area that the rain keep us from enjoying. The owner (I believe) was very nice and attentive. the menu is what you would expect all the normal BBQ stuff. I wanted to see if the could pull off one of the most difficult things Brisket. BBQ is finicky about sitting and it being an off time... you never know? My wife got a pulled pork sandwich with fried okra. I got the Brisket lunch platter with a baked potato (nice!) and slaw. Everything came quickly was was just excellent! The brisket was just perfect, not too fatty and good smoke. The slaw was very good, the garlicky texas toast was a nice surprise and the bake potato was surprising, first that it was available at lunch and second, it was very good. The portion size was large especially for lunch sizes. The sauces which i just really tasted were all good, i mixed some of the sweet and the hot, the brisket didn't need it at all, but it added a nice bit of heat. My wife loved everything about her sandwich and the okra was fantastic. Our first and only experience with St louis BBQ was a huge success, loved it and would hope to be back sometime. What a great meal! When you arrive, you can get your food to go or eat out on the patio or eat in the dining room. We were promptly greeted by Aaron, who answered all of our questions on the menu. He was extremely nice and helpful. I ordered the Stuffed Baked Potato Platter, which came with two sides and bread. I got the green beans and fried okra. Everything was delicious. Very good size portions. I even have enough for lunch tomorrow. The potato was stuffed with cheese, pulled pork and brisket. Yum! They have two sauces on the table. One is sweet and one is spicy. I couldn't figure out which sauce was on the stuffed potato so I checked with Aaron and he said it was neither. It was a special sauce that they for the stuffed potatoes. It was very good. They had some really good looking lunch specials that came with two sides and bread as well. Served from 11 to 4. The table behind us ordered the meal for two which consisted of a full slab of ribs, a couple sides and toast. That looked delicious. We talked to them as we left, and they said that it was fantastic. Great little place in the neighborhood, we will definitely be back soon! Smoke N Bones (Oct 6, 2023) There are several good BBQ places in the St. Louis area, but I decided to pick this one because it was not a chain like some of the others. No regrets in that decision whatsoever. This originally was meant as a lunch trip, but somehow arrived there after 3 p.m. on a Friday afternoon, so the place was pretty empty at that time. The dining area is large and tables and chairs scattered all around. You have a roll of paper towels on the table, There are sauces too beside the paper towel roll. Decided to order a 3 item combo which cost around $23 to try out some of the meats. Ended up with the pulled pork, brisket and sausage. Of the 3 meats, the sausage stood out the most.It is extremely soft and tender, and packed full of smoky flavors. It is a little on the greasy side however. The other 2 were pretty good though the brisket was on the dry side; however,they did not stand out as the sausage did. This place also has a very respectable spicy bbq sauce. The server recommended two sides included Cheese Potatoes (YES!) and Green Beans, and these complimented the meal extremely well. The meal was very good, and I ended up finishing everything on the plate. It was also good enough that I ordered a pound each of the brisket and sausage to go. I can attest that the food not only survived the trip back to Seattle, the freezer compartment of my refrigerator, and still tasted very, very good about 60 days later when I finally finished all of the meats. Overall I rate the food from this place 4.5/5 for what I ate. It is worth making a trip there when you are in the vicinity. ENJOY !!! read more

I hate to choose violence on the 4th of July. I tried this place for the first time today, and it was just ok. I started out my 30 min trek to Bogarts around noon. However, once I got there, they sold out of RIBS and Brisket. I then tried going to Steller Hogs, and they were closed. So I was looking up other places while I was still in the area and I came across this place. I've heard they had good food. I placed my order online for a three meat plate. I got ribs, pulled pork and chicken, and my sides were fried greenbeans and baked beans. The food was just not as flavorful as I had hoped. It didn't even smell up my car like I'm used to Bogarts doing. Everything was tender but just not seasoned enough. Y'all, I feel like I wasted 30 dollars.
