    Salad indicating allergies
    Andrea S.

This is my first experience with this location and while the food was spot on, my attempt to avoid dairy on my salad fell flat. Having been recently diagnosed with alpha-gal (the allergy to beef, pork, lamb and byproducts...this includes dairy) it is difficult to find places to eat. I know what you're thinking, why order from a BBQ place!? To start, S+S is delicious and they have pulled chicken, which I can eat and we were having friends over for dinner and it seemed like a quick and delicious option to cooking. Why not grab some take-out? Second, I looked at the salads and when ordering, there were options to indicate any food allergies. I selected beef, pork and dairy. You'd think that would indicate NO cheese on the salad...right? WRONG!! The salad came with the label clearly indicating the allergy and inside was a perfectly delicious looking salad with...cheese. Bruh! I really wanted to give more stars because the food is delicious and our company was raving but this oversight on my allergy indicators could have ended in a miserable evening. S+S, please do better next time! No one chooses to have food allergies and we do our best to ask questions and avoid triggers but when it's clearly stated, there is no excuse for the blatant disregard.

Salt + Smoke is expanding like crazy in STL and for good reason! We went to the South County location, right by the Costco. The service was great, very nice and relatively quick. It wasn't too busy when we went for a late lunch on Saturday. We enjoyed the Bestie Combo - the smoked wings and pulled pork were so good! The fries here are yummy as well! We also indulged and got the dark chocolate brownie with cookies and cream ice cream - I wasn't too impressed but the BBQ itself was yum!

Nice smoky smell on entering. Cool ac. Not too loud. Extensive bar offerings. Many offerings at the bar. Good service. Enjoyed our meal and will be back.

Food was amazing! The service was great considering they cooked it and prepped it perfectly! I do not live very far away but I was very short on time and wanted to spend more time with company so ordered delivery thru doordash and the timing was perfect!

Well It was one of those days. We had storm damage this Friday from the high winds. We spent all morning cleaning up the debris from the limb that broke off and damaged the fence, the grill, the gutters and pulled down the power and phone/internet lines. We have power but about 8:30 tonight our internet phone line snapped from the weight of the limb. We decided to treat ourselves to a salt and smoke dinner. We walked down the street and ordered an Oklahoma bacon cheeseburger with a side of cracker mac and cheese. This burger was awesome prepared with smokey bacon, American cheese grilled onions smothered in thousand island dressing. The white cracker mac and cheese has a nick name they call it "crack" It truly is addictive from the first bite. We topped off the meal with a bourbon on the rocks. The service was exceptional. Daisy our server executed courteous and professional service bringing our food quickly and offering suggestions for a Bourbon to try. Come to Salt and Smoke for an addictive, decadent meal and say"Hi" to Daisy.

Salt and Smoke is such an asset to my neighborhood. They have such an amazing patio, light and airy vibe, and delicious food and drink. We came on a Sunday and were considering sitting outside but it was too windy. There weren't a ton of diners in the restaurant, but there were enough for the one server working to be busy. Props to her :) service was still good! we ordered dry rubbed wings to start which were delicious. theyre super tender and come with a side of horseradish ranch. For my entree I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich with no bun since I got mac n cheese on the side. I like the pimento cheese that comes on sandwich, hence that choice and not just getting the chicken plate. mac and cheese is phenomenal- so creamy and rich. Definitely some of my fav in The Lou!

Price... 9.5/10 Service... 9/10 Food... 10/10 The service was very good! We were able to be sat right away on a Friday night. The server used a toasted device to input our order straight to the kitchen. That helped speed our food along. Toasted also made it easy to pay with Apple Pay on my phone. The food was great! The Burnt End Ravioli were the highlight of the appetizers! Very warm and delicious! The hush puppies were great with the butter! I did wish they were a little smaller and crunchier. The onion rings were large and perfectly crispy. Well seasoned and very tender, brisket is the choice of meats. The Oklahoma burger was very filling, and the sauce complimented the salty bacon very well! You won't regret getting the baked beans for your side; they are the perfect maple bacon flavor you're looking for.

    Two-Meat Combination

This was a cool looking spot with a small bar upon entering. There were a good number of tables to both sides of the bar. The menu had lots of interesting choices to pick from, which included mostly BBQ. The service was friendly while the food came out quickly. For starters, the hush puppies with maple butter ($7.99) was ordered. There were five to an order. They were okay. The butter was not softened and did not really have any maple flavoring. The hush puppies were a little hard without much flavor unfortunately. For an entrée, I had the two-meat combination ($20.99). This came with a cheddar and bacon popover along with two sides. I opted for the fried jalapeno and cheddar bologna and St Louis ribs as my meat. The sides I had were brisket chili and pit beans with smoked bacon. The popover was not my favorite. It was very light and large, but I just did not enjoy it. The bologna and ribs were great. The bologna was crispy with plenty of pieces of cheddar and jalapeno incorporated. I had the hot BBQ sauce on the ribs, and they were tasty too. The meat fell right off the bones while the hot sauce had a real kick. The brisket chili was my favorite item of the day. The shredded brisket was very flavorful and fulfilling. The beans were a nice touch too. I also tried the sweet pepper potato salad and green bean and tomato salad. The potato salad was very good while the string bean salad was okay. I would have preferred the green beans to be a little less crunchy. Will I go back? Yes.

The service was very quick. We sat down and got our food immediately and everyone was very nice and helpful without food choices.

Kids have been wanting to try BBQ while we were in town so stopped by before we hopped on the plane for lunch. We had kale salad with shredded chicken, trash ribs sweet with fries, sweet ribs plate, and brisket plate. Everything was so yummy. Super filling after wards. My favorite was the sweet ribs. Yummy! Space inside was nice. Parking was easy on street or in lot. Service was super friendly and helpful.

The staff were incredibly friendly right off the bat. Stayed in St. Louis for a few days and this place was so good I went three times. Rock solid bbq. It's refreshing to have a place that serves gluten free buns when you have celiac disease. Be careful of cross-contamination for gluten-avoiders like me. The homemade bbq sauces and mustard were excellent. If I didn't have to check the sauce I'd have bought a gallon of it to take home. The place was bustling and busy but was still very clean and orderly. We had no problem getting a table. And wait staff were prompt in taking orders and serving us. They also have a series of tasty in-house sodas that I'd recommended. I would highly recommend the applewood smoked wings and fries.

The building on Hampton represents one of four Salt + Smoke locations in St. Louis. My first time coming to this location was on the 4th of July. To my surprise, there was no wait time and my party of 4 was quickly seated. There are options for bar seating, low tables, high tables and outdoor seating. We opted to sit outside. Similar to the other locations, this location has a rustic yet modern decor, with a combination of wood accents and industrial touches. Their menu features an assortment of classic BBQ dishes and homemade sides. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. The brisket had a combination of delectable smoky flavors and was prepared well with a balance of tenderness and juiciness. The accompanying house-made sauces, ranging from spicy to tangy added a delicious kick to each bite. The mac & cheese was also a standout with its creamy texture and sharp taste. Some considerations for dining at this location are that: 1) parking is limited- we parked behind the building, where there are about 10-12 spots. While we did not have any issues, parking may become a challenge during peak business hours and 2) Hampton Ave is a busy road, which may contribute to increased noise levels when dining outdoors. Overall, we had a good dining experience and were very grateful for the staff that served us on a national holiday!

Have you gotten rid of the brisket burnt end toasted raviolis? I am moving out of town at the month and can't leave without getting some!!

I read online a few weeks ago they were having issues getting them cause of covid! A lot of places are having issues with vendors right now due to low product supply. haven't seen them post they are back yet.

I appreciate the constantly rotating selection of lagers and pilsners; each visit is a bit different, with five or six selections ranging from light lagers to hoppy pilsners and occasional baltic porters and cold IPAs. Half pours and slow pours are my favorite way to get the full experience at Little Lager. The bartenders are also very friendly and knowledgeable; I enjoy seeing the community they've created among regulars and I've learned a bit more about different beer styles and their serving methods on my stops in. I've personally recommended Little Lager to friends and coworkers, but there are a few things to keep in mind: the small space is not the best for a group happy hours, there isn't a kitchen to serve food (though they do allow outside food) , and there are very few options for non-beer drinkers (outside of a few packaged ciders, wines, and different ways to experience Chicago's infamous Malort). Beyond that, it's a laid-back spot to visit with one or two friends after work or to experience their regular collaborations with local breweries like Perennial and 2nd Shift. I've been a fan since my first visit, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
