We came for lunch after church and tried a couple of different sandwiches. Sweet potato fries were good and I loved the steak fries! Chicken was smoked and tasty. Server was friendly, and kept our drinks full. Restaurant is a mix of decor and different tables and chairs. Lots of TVs on, showing different sports. Fun place to hang out and grab a beer and some snacks! read more

Stopped in for lunch and had a great time. The weather was beautiful so we got to sit on the open patio which is awesome. I had the Philly cheesesteak. It was amazing. The fries were great as well. I took home food for my family. Tacos for my husband and chicken strips for my son. They both enjoyed their meals as well. The staff was friendly and the service great! read more

We've been coming to Cafe Telegraph for years, and it has stayed one of our go-to spots. The food is always great, the portions are generous, and everything is consistently good every single time we visit. The cocktails are also always on point! My personal favorite is the raspberry lemon drop -- it's perfectly balanced and honestly hard not to order every time. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it's the kind of place you can count on whether you're stopping in for a casual dinner, bringing family from out of town, or just popping in for drinks. It's rare to find a place that stays THIS consistent over the years, and Cafe Telegraph definitely does. read more

Great service and atmosphere, but their food is lackluster to say the least. Nothing we ordered was enjoyable. A shame.

Just ordered a pizza to go. When we got it home, all the toppings were in the center of the pizza, and the crust tasted stale. I think this will be our last visit. read more

Food took forever and a day, was kinda bland but I suppose that's the audience. Server was pretty overworked and doing his best.

Started off with the Smoked Wings, Great smokey flavor without being over powering. The house salad was large and very tasty with house made dressing, The pizza had a great crispy thin crust plenty of toppings and cheese but the sauce was too sweet! I will go back for the BBQ, and our server Sonny was quite Entertaining! read more

Lesson Learned, never order chicken breast at a BBQ restaurant. Burnt beyond recognition. So bad that the cook cut off the thin part of the breast and all I received was a tiny square of burnt, dry chicken. I left it on my plate and the below avarage waiter (Benjamin) never asked if everything was OK. So I paid $20+ for 5 potato wedges and a salad. read more

Good food, very generous servings. Pulled pork has yummy smoky flavor and not overly sauced. Love the fresh croutons on the salad. Everything is reasonably priced. Best part of the dining experience was the phenomenal friendly service from Toni! read more

I'd been to Cafe Telegraph a few times over the years. However, this was my husband's first time. He had a craving for a big bbq pork steak and the Fred Flintstone 3 pounder did not disappoint. This thing is huge. It comes with two sides. He went with a baked potato and baked beans. I ordered the Lutheran South White Fish grilled. You can order the fish breaded/fried or blackened as well. My sides were a baked sweet potato and vegetable medley. Big plate as well! We both thought our potatoes tasted a little off. The veggie medley is made with fresh broccoli, cauliflower and squash. Grilled as well. Highly recommend this side. Of course, my husband had to take home part of the pork steak. But, we still made room to split a piece of apple pie. Service was friendly. Atmosphere is hopping with live music on a Saturday night. There are quieter areas in the restaurant if you prefer that. We loved that the menu items are named after churches in South St Louis Area. We will definitely be back to check out more menu items. read more

Great BBQ and cold beer and friendly staff what else do you need. The giant pork steak is amazing!

I'm going to start with a quick note: We almost skipped this establishment because of the tone of the responses to negative reviews, not because of the reviews themselves, rather the condescending replies. I get it, it's hard not to take them personally, still... it's the first impression. We were in town at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery & decided to stop in for a bite to eat & to continue our family visit for a bit, before flying back home. The building is large & easy to find/access, with plenty of parking and ample space in the spots. On entry there was a sign to see hostess for seating. Easy peasy. We walked in around 430pm as a party of 6 & were seated right away. We went to the left on entry, and were greeted by a large open air dining space and bar top. Tate was our server & she was excellent at keeping us informed, as well as offering some solid suggestions. My chicken was fabulous, I loved the lemon sauce & the cheesy potatoes were delicious as well. The slaw, though fresh, was a fail for us - maybe it needed a bit longer to take on the dressing. Other dishes that we enjoyed at the table were the beans, brisket & pulled pork. The only pass was on the slaw. Prices were reasonable, glasses were never empty & service, again, was excellent. I'd certainly recommend it as a good spot for a brew or a few & a bite. read more

I really liked going here with a group of my riding buddies. They took care of us in record time. The menu is diverse. So, you won't have trouble finding something delicious. The staff, on a busy Saturday, were friendly, attentive and fast. The manager is on the floor the whole time. Now, I'm a little sad that I don't get there more often. See what you think. My favorite place to go for fish! Plus, the atmosphere is great, as is the service. Highly recommend!

Every single time I try to order from Cafe Telegraph it is a failure. We live less than 1 mile away. Last night they put me on hold twice and no one picked up. The third time I finally talked to someone. Said it would 30-45 minutes wait for the food. Told her that's fine. Order the pork steak. Sorry, we're out of pork steaks. How are you out of pork steaks on a Friday at 7pm. Guess there's no pork steaks this weekend. Didn't even get her the rest of the order. I have never been able to order to go food since they opened. read more

Cafe Telegraph is a super casual huge restaurant. Their menu is about the size of the building. It's gigantic and they have just about every thing you could think about ordering at a restaurant. A fun concept they have is that all of their menu items are named after local schools. The food is also delicious. Giant pork steaks, delicious wraps, perfectly cooked sides. I haven't had a bad experience. They are decent for groups because their restaurant is so big. I believe they have at least 2-3 different eating/sitting areas. This is a place where if you have people who all want different things, they can usually pick something on the menu. I can't wait to go back again! read more

What a great find! Came to St Louis to pick up a new hat for my husband and found this gem. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich and the fish basket special. Everything was on point! St Louis tradition of a pork steak, but made for Fred Flinstone (a dry-rubbed slab of meat). Quantity and quality was impressive. The sweet potato was halfed, but the coleslaw was vinegar-based and was healthy. My only real problem was the description included a side salad... I had to double-check the on-line menu and yes they state they offer side salad. I sweet tea was fine. Service was good. All 6 of us was pleased by the meal and decor (rehabbed/reused). read more

Popped in for a late lunch/early dinner around 3:45pm on a Saturday. We were so hungry and my biggest regret was not taking photos of our food. We have been here before, but tonight was spot on with service and food! I highly recommend the house dressing for the salad (which, BTW, happily does NOT include any iceberg). My bubbie got the giant pork steak which is enough for 3-4 meals. The baked potatoes were perfect. I got the Chicken Modega (minus mushrooms and bacon) and it was perfect! I'm always a tad leery of breaded chicken because so many times it's pre breaded or too greasy. Huge surprise to know that it's have breaded and very light/airy. Sooo good! Our waitress was one of the best we've had at any meal anywhere - very attentive and friendly! read more

Kind of a mid tier restaurant, they pride themsethemselves on BBQ. I've had the BBQ nachos & in my opinion the meat was salty. I've had a few other things but I don't think they excel at anything. I only go there (on small occasion to watch Cardinals baseball) Update: One thing I will add is; when they are smoking some meat. The air smells good in like a two block radius in either direction. Also the times that I went to this place the service was actually really good! So good job on that end! read more

I love this place, that being said, Saturday Oct 28 was not the best. We got there at 6:30 and we ordered drinks and that took about 15 minutes to get, then placed our order and it took 45 minutes to get our food. My friend got the 5lb pork steak! It was fork tender and delicious. My sandwich the fox hound was terrible. The bread was crouton hard. The steak had grissell in every bite. The waiter did make it right and took the sandwich off the bill and brought me a complimentary bowl of chicken and dumplings. That's why my rating is a three. read more

First time, arrived 2:45 PM Friday, 11/29/24 black Friday. Was greeted, as we entered. Was not sure if we seat our self or not at first as the dining room is to the left and the bar to the right. Entrance way to the dining area had a sign said wait to be seated, really didn't matter since we were greeted. Less than 15 minutes to get our drinks served and our order made the parking lot was above half full. I ordered the fish special, my wife ordered Pork Tenderloin sandwich, the sandwich was recommended from a face book page (Pursuing Pork Tenderloin) and the reason we pick this restaurant! Food served 3:10 PM, hot! Fresh! The fish was very good, light batter, coleslaw was crisp and fresh very good. Steak Fries they cut season and fry, appearance may not be as appealing but the seasoning and the fact they are fresh more than makes it worth it. They were very good. My wife loved the Pork tenderloin, it was thick but still tender she was glad the sauce was served on the side and she enjoyed the sweet potatoes. I drank fresh brewed sweet tea and my wife had Yuengling flight, if you like beer can never go wrong with Yuengling Beer. Server came to our table kept drink full and brought a container for my wife leftover she wanted. I never had to look for the server. So bill was $46.50 with the beer, and yes we noticed on the bill two prices for after 3 is cheaper, Jordan was a great server and a good sport as they List Yuengling as a craft beer, like saying Ford is a custom car. I teased him over that! read more

Food and service were really good. We love the huge bar area. Would eat here again for sure! Looking forward to eating on the patio soon!

This place is a really neat place by the looks of it. Sports bar meets Bbq joint. The service was great. I ordered the Stan Big Boomer which was 20oz of pull pork, with hardly any coleslaw on it and a little bacon with on piece of garlic toast sliced in half. Not what was I was expecting at all I was not impressed at all. Now the cheesy potatoes was the bomb. Wife ordered the CBC Gringo cheese steak which I ended up eating half, that was not bad at all. Steak fries were not bad but they must of been running short on potatoes too. I believe a she received 5 or 6 fries. I know times are hard right now for places. But if you cut back on portions you not going to get an epic review. I couldn't even make a whole sandwich with a piece of garlic bread cut in half and a fork of coleslaw. Three stars is stretching it. read more

Service was fine. Wife had the gringo cheesesteak and sweet potato fries, and we had the gringo dip and chips which were all good. The problem was their pizza. The menu claims the dough is made fresh daily. I ordered a 16" pepperoni. Had to send it back because the dough was tough as shoe leather. They remade it to-go and the 2nd was just as bad. read more

The bread we received had mold on it and on the menu says it's Texas toast.. it was thinly sliced plain white bread. The waitress was great and gave us a discount which was nice. However, they cover every single item they have in their bbq rub which sounds good in theory, but it is a very sweet/sugary rub so everything we ate just tasted like sugar. The drinks are cheap and the open patio area is nice but that and our waitress was pretty much the only redeeming qualities. Do not plan on coming back unless it for cheap drinking. read more
