    Mimosa Flight
    Teresa S.

On my mission to try restaurants around STL, I visited Stone X STEEL with a group of friends. We started off with drinks, and I had a mimosa flight that was really good definitely a highlight. As for the experience, there was a bit of a hiccup with our food order that caused a delay. And of course, when you're waiting on food, that can make the table a little restless. However, I will say the owner personally came over and did his pobest to rectify the situation, which was appreciated. That level of accountability goes a long way. Now onto the food...overall, everything tasted good. I did have a minor issue with my Brussels sprouts being a little burnt, but that was taken off my bill with no problem. Customer service overall was okay, nothing over the top, but nothing negative either. All in all, despite the small setback, the food and the effort to make things right stood out. I'd still say it's worth checking out and forming your own opinion.

Saw this on IG and a few friends and I stopped in this evening. They offer reservations on the website, so not being sure what to expect, set the reservation. Greeted promptly upon entry and seated quickly. Server was extremely friendly and helpful was super helpful as we asked questions about the menu options. 2 orders of Jerk Chicken Tacos, Side of Brussels, Chili Garlic Linguine with Chicken, Cup of Corn and Poblano Chowder and Bread Pudding to finish. Glass of Malbec, Glass of Cab, Whiskey Sour on the drink order. Tacos were very good, ample chicken in each one. For an appetizer, this is definitely large enough to have as a meal. I'd definitely be interested in trying the shrimp version of these. Brussels were just ok, they seemed to be missing the balsamic glaze. The cup of Chowder turned into a bowl of Chowder and it was massive! For this to be a cold day, that Chowder definitely warms the soul! Great flavor and definitely some kick! Chili Garlic Linguine was also very enjoyable and a slight bit heat, but not dominant on the dish. Bread pudding was large enough to share with the table. The sauce was tasty. Overall and enjoyable experience!

As they should on NYE. Still, we never felt rushed. In fact, our waiter, Todd, was very attentive and even slowed down another server who was going to bring us our salads (a house and a caesar with anchovies) before we had a chance to finish our appetizer (a savory and spicy jambalaya arancini). Good catch on his part. We both had a glass of prosecco to start and then split a bottle of French pinot noir (Domaine de Valmoissine) to go with our entrees (steak tip pasta and steak frites). My wife loved the pasta dish (fresh pappardelle with steak tips, demiglace cream sauce and shiitake mushrooms) and my steak was perfectly prepared medium-rare with crisp and flavorful garlic fries and a side of green beans and shiitake mushrooms. It's the kind of meal and service we've come to expect at Timothy's. We look forward to the spring and some new menu items with the change of seasonal foods.

In addition to their regular menu, DPH always has a Weekly Special Menu. Once I saw what the weekly special pasta was, I had to have it. I am a huge fan of Smoked Salmon and they did theirs in house. The pasta not only had the smoked salmon, it also had sautéed red onion, a tangy European style cream cheese sauce and cavatappi pasta with fried cappers and fresh dill. The cream sauce was perfect. It was just a light covering, enough for flavor without being overwhelming. As always, the portion was healthy, so I had leftovers for the next days lunch. I enjoyed it chilled and it was like eating a cold pasta salad. DPH always gets bonus points from me for having eco-friendly to-go vessels. My adult beverage of choice for the seafood pasta, was a glass of Pinot Gris. I prefer a Grigio, but they only had the Gris. Gris is fairly similar to Grigio. I always say, it's like a first cousin, once removed. Service is always top-notch. It doesn't matter if you are sitting at a table or the bar, you'll be treated right.

Don't know why they chose to purée the butternut squash after roasting it, but that I think would've been better having the roasted bite with the beats. The chicken was prepared nicely. It was grilled it was delicious. I was expecting maybe a little bit more flavor to the chicken which could've helped with the pasta, but the pasta was very bland. Other than that, I loved everything and I will be back to try other things on the menu
