I was craving some BBQ all week. So I went yesterday around 7pm. This cured the desires. They were out of some of the side items I was interested in, such as the baked beans and Yams. I opted for "the luch combo" with ribs tips and two sides (potato salad and green bean). Service: Was ok, nothing really spectacular. Received "matter of fact attitude" while placing order. We opted to dine in. A great touch- The cashier checked in and asked if we were ok after approximately 30 mins into dining. That was nice, didn't really expected it. Food: Green beans were room temp however flavorful, with pieces of turkey and a lil kick! Would have been much better served hot! Potato salad- good, made with sweet relish and on the sweeter side. I tend to prefer tangy instead, however it was a nice change to have. Ribtips- OK, some portions hard to chew, other tender. Definitely required some flossing lol lol. Ambiance- Music playing in the background, slightly on the louder side, which will make it a little difficult to converse. Cost- A little pricey if just buying meat. I was not informed that if I pay with debit card, prices are higher. I realized it after I had already rung up and received my receipt and I questioned it. More transparency would be nice. Happy Day in STL! Finally got the opportunity to try Red's BBQ and boy did not disappoint! Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon before the rush and got a rib tip plate with hot link and 2 sides. We asked for sauce on the side as I hear they are generous with sauce. Ribs were juicy and seasoned perfectly, you can't stop eating them. Combo plates are generously portioned and comes with slices of bread to compliment your meal. Ted's is reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit. See you next week! read more

Red's is a true neighborhood BBQ. I'm from the other side of the state and definitely feel KC BBQ is the best in the Nation, but this STL joint made me wake up and pay attention to STL BBQ. I had the Tips and Half chicken with 1 side (baked beams). I didn't know what I was ordering, if I did I probably would have shared my food with my buddy with me! So much food! And Delicious! The rub was very flavorful. The chicken was cooked perfectly and very juicy. I loved the baked beans. I had food for two days. The atmosphere is order at the counter. The wait was around 30 minutes, but honestly, it was well worth it -- my turkey ribs were tender, flavorful, and hit the spot. My mom's rib tips were a bit too tough and tough to chew, but the staff handled it well. Instead of a refund, they offered to replace it with a burger and a Polish, which came out to the same price -- fair trade in my book. The restaurant was well lit, clean, and had plenty of parking, which makes a big difference when it's busy. I've been in St. Louis for a year and I have tried bbq spots but NOBODY is cooking on a charcoal grill except for Reds! This is REAL bbq. You can see the huge drum grills and smoke from across the street. The prices are average bbq prices. I paid $19 for the tip/link combo with 1 side and I ate off of that plate for 3 days. The bbq sauce tastes homemade with a perfect balance of heat, acidity and sweet. MORE THAN ENOUGH SAUCE FOR THE PLATE. The links were more like regular polish sausage but still good. The potato salad was good! Just like I like it. The wait for the food was about 20min. No call ins unless the order is over $50 according to signs posted. Auntie at the order counter had a great personality and better customer service. She walked over to my table and brought an extra to go container (cause I tore mine) and extra bags! I come here so much esp during Covid so my review will be on the experience during Covid. I usually come and get two things whole chicken no sauce or Turkey leg no sauce. I believe with this restaurant it depends when you go? Or maybe what time you go? Customer service is ok. The food is ok. The bbq sauce definitely helps the grilled food. Sometimes it's very good. Sometimes it's a bit overcooked. If the bbq was seasoned and grilled with precision and love it would be a total game changer. I recommend they add salt and a bit of flavor and take their time being consistent and then they would have really great food. It definitely not out of reach for this restaurant. Went to Reds a couple days ago and ordered a small Ribtip. He still gives you a lot and his sauce is good but his meat is mainly tough or chewy. I rarely get tender tips.
