Visiting St Louis and wanted to snack on gizzards on way home back to Indy. A family member from St Louis said the best were at Chinese Express in Ferguson. It was a little out of the way, but worth the side trip. They had a crispy batter with diced onions. The restaurant has an A rating. I noticed several duck options on the menu. Assuming we go back, I will try that next time there. The restaurant is dated decor, outside and in, but our food was really good. Employees were friendly and it was quick. Neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Very basic, outdated , small and quaint building with limited parking spaces. Despite all that, food is delicious. Food always cooked to order, hot and fresh. Staff is friendly and never a long wait. I ordered whole order of chicken fried rice and a combination plate of hot braised chicken bone in and plain lo mein noodles and Crab Rangoon . i'm not sure what it is with Chinese restaurants, but they never want to admit and stand behind their mistakes. I must admit the food here is good but the service is awful. They don't give you all of your food that you ordered or if they give you your food, they're missing the sauce and they do not want to stand behind their errors They want you to go back to the online service that you ordered it when in fact, it's their fault. Don't eat here if you value your dollars spend it somewhere else. read more

Yikes. This place is rough. The bad: - The dining area is straight up dirty. The floor is sticky, it obviously hasn't been deep cleaned in years, there's exposed drywall. Frankly, I'm a little surprised this place passes health code. - I'm not hard to please when it comes to Chinese food, and there are very few meals I don't finish or take home leftovers, but I had to throw this meal away. The fried rice was okay, but the beef broccoli was one of the worst I've had. It tasted like a microwave meal that had been in the freezer too long. The crab rangoon wonton to filling ratio was way off. The good: -The woman who took our order and delivered our food was very sweet and accommodating. The amount of food for the price was a good value. - For $7ish, the beef broccoli combo plate was a filled to-go container with the entree, two sides of rice, and two crab rangoon. I don't think Chinese Express is meant to be a dine-in experience. We were the only group in the dining room, but we saw many patrons in and out to order carry-out. I definitely won't be back to dine-in, but may be willing to try a different meal for carry-out. read more

Reliable hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout place. Passes my three tests: excellent fried rice, rangoons aren't too sweet, and the hot braised chicken has just the right amount of breading so you get a good crunch and plenty of meat instead of sugary, goopy breading like many places. Portions are really good for the price, too. read more

Decided to try this place as I do enjoy good Chinese food from time to time. I do have a restaurant that I frequent. However, I am always willing to try something new. A friend of mine raved about this particular restaurant and after reading reviews from others in the yelp community, I figured it would be worth a visit. I went on a weeknight during the evening. There's not a lot of lighting on the outside so that was my first concern. The place was pretty crowded yet not very spacious on the inside. Luckily I'd called in the order and it was ready once I arrived. Duck fried rice with bean sprouts, plain noodles and an order of chicken gizzards. Overall, the food was decent and the prices were reasonable. I will more than likely try it again in the near future. read more

I feel bad for the poor girl who took my order the other day. That said, Chinese Express is passable chinese food. They have all the staples on their menu from S&S Chicken (my pick) to other various beef, poultry and fishy dishes. They're usually pretty busy when I stop by, which is good since they've been there since I moved to Ferguson almost 10 years ago. Their prices are a little high, but when the food is good, it's GOOD. Give 'em a try sometime. Heck, they deliver. Call 'em on a rainy day. read more

Fast, cheap, DELICIOUS Chinese food. The best lo mein I've ever had, anywhere, by such a wide margin I'm not sure I can eat anyone else's now. Service was cheerful, and the place is spotless. And it's close to UMSL! I also tried the General Tso's chicken, which was far superior to the typical sticky mall Chinese I've typically encountered. Fried rice and lo mein is really good, they take debit/credit as well. My absolute favorite is their sweet & sour chicken it is best I've had anywhere. Excellent Saint Paul sandwiches as well. They also have really good grab Rangoon. I've had them probably over 60 times the past 6-7 years andbcan only remember less than a handful of bad experiences. read more
