I am a BBQ guy. I can do it myself better than most restaraunts so I don't often rate BBQ places. This place is really good. I had a 3 meat meal, wings, burntends ad ribs. fries and beans for sides. The wings were what they call trashed, fried, sauced then fried again. I have ony found this in St. Louis but it is probably my favorite way to have wings. The burnt ends were cooked perfect. The wings didn't look right when they came out, you can see in the picture that they look burned. They were not, the sauce was put on and allowed to cook until it carmelized. They fell off the bone, who doesn't love that? I am pretty sure I have eaten at another Salt and Smoke near the stadium. I will come here again. read more

When I saw they had deviled eggs, I was all in! Deviled eggs have become one of my favorite appetizers lately, so that definitely caught my attention. Let's start with the customer service... GREAT! Everyone was friendly and the service was on point. Now, on to the food. The ribs were very tender, had good flavor, and fell right off the bone. The burnt ends were really good as well, no complaints there. The pulled pork was also solid. The mac & cheese with the Ritz crackers was probably my favorite thing on the plate. Definitely a nice touch and really good! The beans were just ehh for me, nothing to write home about, but everything else made up for it. Overall, this is a really good spot. Nice area, great customer service, and good food. I'd definitely come back! read more

Boys night out on a Saturday and we decided on Salt + Smoke in St. Charles. It was pretty busy but we got in in under 5 minutes. The smells were orgasmic- that alone made the trip worthwhile. As usual, service was prompt and attentive. Selected foods were: wings, brisket, pulled pork, chicken and, ribs. All were excellent. Sides of creamed corn, mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts rounded out the dinner. Parking on the street is real hit or miss, but there are free parking lots in the area. read more

We stopped in for lunch while out enjoying the beautiful day on Main Street St Charles. Aiming for the patio, but didnt want to wait so we settled for a spot inside next to the bar. Service was attentive and helped with the beer choice of the meal and with any questions about the menu we had. Thinking we got here right in time because the inside soon was full as well and it definitely can noisy if you are sensitive to that type of setting. Food was FANTASTIC, really wish my plate auto refilled but guess maybe someday in the future we can figure that out... Pulled Pork sandwich for myself with a side of the soup... honestly dont recall what it was but thinking black bean something. SO GOOD,so try the soup lol read more

This was my first time to this location and it did not disappoint! It's located on main st St Charles a historic shopping and dining street perfect to walk around before or after getting a bite to eat. We got the burnt end roasted ravioli and they were pipping hot and crunchy on the outside with a smoky meaty inside that was balanced nicely by the ranch. We also got the wings and the ribs both were tasty but the wings were the star being both smoky and crispy was a perfect combination with the mustard BBQ sauce they used. The popover was hot and delicious as well perhaps you would say perfectly cooked. Fried crisp. Staff were stretched thin but did a good job keeping everything smoothly run and there as needed. read more

Fun BBQ spot with tons of gluten free, vegetarian, and of course classic BBQ options! I had the chicken sandwich which was a little too plain so make sure to add some sauce. My family ordered a variety of other foods such as brisket, chicken wings, and sandwiches. I thought the mac and cheese was a fun side. The lemon cake is a must for dessert! Our server was hilarious so maybe you'll get lucky to have him serve you. Tons of outdoor and indoor seating. read more

Salt + Smoke - Chicken Sandwich with Mac n Cheese and Potato Salad Side - Barbeque Near Me - Saint Charles, Missouri

Parking is a bit hit or miss. The parking is greet parking on Main Street in St. Charles and can be tough depending on the time and day of the week. Other than that everything was excellent. The atmosphere is bright and inviting. Our server was also the bartender and he was great. We ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer. I got the grilled cheese sandwich with pulled chicken and my side was green bean and tomato salad. I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed it! The sandwich was tasty and not too greasy. My side was delicious. One of my friends for the two meat bestie plate. She had the ribs and brisket with potato salad and coleslaw as her sides. She enjoyed all of it! I was lucky enough to get her cheddar popover which was phenomenal! Our other friend got the pulled pork sandwich with cheddar Mac as her sides. She ate every bite. We were all very happy with our meals. Portion sizes were spot on and we even had a few leftovers. read more

I always have such a great experience at any Salt and Smoke location. The food is consistently good and I appreciate that they don't have too many options, so they can really focus on making their food high-quality and delicious. I always get the green bean with tomato side, which is super fresh, and this time I went with their mac & cheese! It's always a winner. All of their meats are amazing, my choice this time was the pulled chicken and brisket. The patio here is awesome. There are a ton of seats outside and if it's a chilly day, their outdoor fire pits will be on. There are also a ton of seats, so it's nice that many people can be accommodated out here. read more

Came for a pre-game luncheon LOCATION - right in the heart of the historic district among all of the very quaint brick stores and buildings PARKING - this can be an issue as we only saw street parking , but at least free ENTRANCE - when you walk inside you have to go to a counter where a host can help AMBIANCE - it's total bohemian looking and cool. There is a sweet BBQ aroma everywhere They have a small downstairs and an upstairs for seating. It seems popular so at peak time there must be a wait The tables are wood and they have glass jars of sauces to select from. Unfortunately the bottles are kind of sticky to the touch MENU - not large but enough for the BBQ meat crowd SERVICE - a little on the slower side getting menus and getting table bused before our group of 7 The gentleman was nice but not very engaging FOOD - try the eggs good. However, the dish could be improved with Spanish paprika. The apps that we shared included ribs and wings. Some of the wings were a bit undercooked but not poisonous. The ribs were good but tended to be overcooked a bit. I had the cheese burger that was very good But a bit on the greasy side. VINO - limited list but for red the federalist was decent but had a sharp after taste. The other options would fall into the bar stock category PRICES - are very reasonable at least by New York standards. RESTROOMS - speaking for the men. It's not awful but could use Intermediate cleaning read more

Solid place, great barbecue, great mac & cheese definitely recommend this place to those barbecue lovers.

Amari was an amazing server. He was quick with suggestions and to refill our drinks. The food was hot and fresh.

Location in St Charles has plethora of free street parking. Roads and structures known for bricks and cobblestones exude a charming, carefree setting for rest, relaxation and conversations. Choice of indoor or outdoor seating under umbrellas are available. No res needed. Our server, Eric made amazing recommendations and provided impressive customer service throughout the evening. Bestie Combo 2 meats w/ 2 sides $20.99. Trashed Ribs: Sweet which is also St Louis ribs, Brisket, Bacon & Cheddar Popover, Pit Beans with Smoked Bacon, White Cheddar Cracker Mac, and sweet pickle. Everything tasted fabulous! Loved how there's four other bbq sauces that you're able to try from sweet, hot and tangy, not even, and mustarolina. Besides hearing music, few fireflies are entertaining. Highly recommend. read more

I've been to main street in st. charles time and time again. and would usually pick one restaurant to hit on each trip. Well, the last few times I'd been by, I'd seen Salt+Smoke, but either it was packed or closed when i was there. So I was thrilled to say on a cold Saturday brunch time, (Due to me originally picking another location that didn't open til 6 pm), I was finally able to sit down and see how they did. My FIRST rule of any restaurant is "what is the server's favorite drink". Well, being a bourbon place, my first question had to change to "what is my server's favorite bourbon". And Susan (Or was it Sarah? No I think it was Susan), she made a wonderful choice for me a Smoky bourbon (I think it was even called . the Smoke Stack?) In fact, it was so perfect that it wasn't even ON THE BOURBON MENU LIST!!! Sold out? Gone? Nope, just wasn't even listed... so much so that she wasn't even sure they still carried it. I told her we were going to try our luck and VOILA!! She said they had it, but didn't know why it wasn't listed. OFF THE MENU SPECIAL DRINK = BONUS STAR! A good ol' Okie Bacon Double cheeseburger, Fries (Cooked in BEEF TALLOW FAT! ANOTHER BONUS STAR! ), and Potato Salad, all of which had a nice barbeque tang that made the meal absolutely spectacular. (and getting there early in the day meant not a lot of wait time for my food.. (or they were trying to get rid of my for being a single guy at a table.. (NAH! Sarah was way too nice for that to be the case) Only bad thing is, they put me upstairs and a sloped roof does NOT do justice to a 6'5" guy when trying to sit at a table... *Yes, Cracked my head on the ceiling both going in and out*. The overall menu is not huge, but you really dont' need it to be. just pick something Barbecued and sides and you're good. Bourbon selection: ABSOLUTELY HUGE with prices going from $ to $$$$ (So watch yourself! Thankfully it was brunch/lunch, so only 1 for me... and it was "off the menu!".) So even taking a point off for the head bumps... we get 2 bonus points for the bourbon and the use of Beef tallow on the fries (and YES It does make a huge difference! Catch up the rest of you places) and a wonderful server... So expect to spend a little more overall, but for a BBQ sit down meal.. you cant go wrong with a little Salt, a little Smoke, and a little Bourbon! read more

The brisket was dry + flavorless. The "lemonade" ceased to have a HINT of lemon, taste like sugary water. The "mac" had hand-crushed Ritz Crackers on top, so flavorless that it caused a public outburst. The only positive part about this experience was the service and scenery. God bless the servers. read more

Paige as a server was wonderful Outdoor seating nice. Hair in Food Not Good !! sent burger back -the hair was in there so tight i couldn't even pull it out- Then-instead of them cooking my food to front of line to remedy their error-my new burger comes out (after a linger time to prepare than our original order time frame- and Now everyone else is DONE with their food-Plus the french fries given were less -We laughed thinking hmmm maybe I could have at least kept those to eat while everyone else ate their meal... We were comped for the burger an given a dessert- dessert-That took a while to get. Husband said his side of chili was OK but so small it was a baby cup--we do not like to complain but definitely Not worth going back. read more

The ambience was perfect. It was a great weather evening, a bit chilly, but they had fire pits going outside on the terrace and it was perfect. Our server was fantastic, and very attentive. First, we had the Loaded Beef Fat Fries. They were really, really good. Lots of bacon and scallions. The white cheddar cheese sauce was perfect to dip them in, as we got it on the side. We tried the two meat platter, with pulled pork and brisket. My brisket was a tad too far done, but it cut fine. I asked for the lean style, and there was hardly any fat on it. You can select lean, fatty, or burnt ends. The White Cheddar Mac-n-Cheese was amazing. Light and fluffy. The pit beans had brisket in them, and they were really good. We also tried the St. Louis style ribs. Very good! The creamed corn was just OK. Yes, we would go back. read more

In town with some coworkers for a couple of weeks and this was a suggestion from locals. It did not disappoint. We actually went back a few days later. I ordered the bestie plate with trashed ribs and bologna. Maaaaaaan. The bologna was good. I should've just ordered ribs. They were amazing. We sat upstairs the first time. Nice dining area upstairs and downstairs. We didn't go to the patio. Our service was already great and food came out hot from the kitchen. The appetizer portion of the wings was larger than I expected. I normally like buffalo wings, but these were easily some of the best wings I've had in my life. Honestly, planning on stopping again before we leave. read more

The service here was great; We were seated immediately and the staff was communicative with us the entire time. Our server also was proactive in helping us split the check, which was nice. The alcoholic drinks all tasted amazing, and the price was overall affordable for the amount of things we got. The brisket grilled cheese was the highlight. I didn't love the creamed corn; I was expecting a sweet flavor and found out it was more a cajun flavor. The low point was the vegan option; The falafel burger was quite disappointing. read more

Came here at night and it wasn't crowded at all. Got right in and got a good seat in the back. Upon entry, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant does offer an upstairs and downstairs. Dim lighting, not too bright. Booths, tables and bar height seating available. We ordered two apps: Trash Ribs & Chicken Skins. They came out pretty quick within a couple mins of ordering so I was surprised. Both were pretty good, I would've wanted them to be hotter. I felt like it was pretty room temperature. Flavor was great though! For dinner, we opted for the Bacon Burger, Brisket Sandwich and 2-choice brisket/ribs combo. Overall the food was pretty good, the fries were definitely the star of the show. I think we could've enjoyed the food a little more, but it was unusually cold in the establishment, which is the only thing that made me take a star away. When we looked up at the thermostat which we were sitting by, it was on 69, which is way too cold for a restaurant. Other than that it was good. read more

My husband and I came here on a cold day for some lunch on a Monday. The place had a decent crowd but wasn't too busy and we sat upstairs. To start we got the hush puppies with maple butter. The maple butter was so good! To eat my husband and I both got the two meat plate with pulled pork and burnt ends. The pulled pork is so good and one of my favorites to always get! I got potato salad and mac and cheese as my sides. The potato salad is creamy rather than more vinegar based. The mac and cheese is my favorite side and I always get it! It is creamy and has good flavor. Salt and Smoke also always has a variety of BBQ sauces on the table. They have a sweet, spicy and sweet, hot and mustard. All very good! I like that it's on the table and I don't have to get up to grab the sauces! read more

Going the Sunday while the streets are closed for foot traffic and the week of Christmas was probably not the best time to go haha but Salt + Smoke handles the crowds like a champ!! I went with a party of 10 and we called ahead and still had to wait a bit but nonetheless we got in and enjoyed our experience. Our server Matthew killed it with the rush of big groups of people and getting our orders in and answered all of our questions. The Bestie BBQ sauce is the best (we took some home!), the fatty brisket is some of the best brisket in St. Louis and I wanted to keep eating but I was full! The trashed wings were amazing too! I would definitely come back and enjoy more things off the menu. Oh also, they have Frostie root beer which is a fave in my book. read more

Beautiful spot. Great atmosphere. I'm a Texan so I know not to get to a BBQ joint late, but due to my flight, I did. So when they told me they were out of brisket, it was a bit rough, but I get it. Then they were out of the beer I really wanted. So I ordered two 1/4 pounds of meat: pulled chicken and pulled pork. Pulled chicken was not worth it at all. However the pulled smoked pork, was amazing, but about a third of the pork was pure fat. So no strike against them for being out of brisket but the beer and chicken, that sucked. The pork, while delicious, they should have checked what they put on the plate. All that said, the quality of the pork and the ambiance will cause me to come back through when I'm back in town - read more

SERVICE: Lovely ambience with additional outdoor seating on the side. Beautiful block to stroll up and down. Parking seems ok but also challenging during certain hours. Service was fine. Establishment was clean. FOOD: Bland and unsure why everyone enjoys it unless they only know what they know in their area. Ribs were a bit dry and regret not grabbing sauce to doctor it up. The creamed corn was tolerable and the beans were horrible in terms of taste. I thought St. Louis was known for their ribs. If so, I'm not sure how. Very disappointed. WELL: No need to return. read more

We came here today for my big birthday dinner. We ordered Mac and cheese for kids, which they ate. My husband got ribs in sweet sauce- good thing there was sauce, rib meat was very dried out, he also got chili and corn, he enjoyed the corn. I got ribs- dry and chewy, lean brisket- ended up to be very fatty and our lovely server got me a new one, Mac and cheese- blend and very sad, popover- even more blend, fries- tasty and a random chicken wing I did not order but was hiding under the ribs.
