I visited on a Saturday morning for lunch and the first thing I noticed was how dirty the floor was. It looked like whomever closed the night before didn't finish the job. I was with a small group and we had to find a server to help our table. We finally got someone who took our order. I ordered the fish and chips which were fairly average. There were issues when it came time to separate the check and pay. Please know that Main Street has a tourism tax as. This used to be a really great place. I'm not really sure what's happened lately, but I hope it gets back to its glory days. read more

We cant get enough of the Shepherd's pie and the white chili at Llywelyn's. It has become our family's favorite place to celebrate special events. The atmosphere is welcoming and they have a nice outdoor dining patio as well. We made it in time for happy hour too so the deals on appetizers was a nice bonus. This was my first time trying this establishment m. Just went to Main Street to try different apps and drinks! The ambiance gives sports bar/cheers vibes. When you enter, it is a seat yourself establishment. They weren't too crowded so we didn't have to wait for a table which was nice. They have a lot of different seating options even a small private room. It was extremely cold in there Almost unbearable for me and my friend. We opted to try the margaritas which were not great. I'm not sure what happened but it tastes like heavy simple syrup but no lime taste. The fries were cooked to PERFECT CRISP however there was sooo much salt on them there was a layer at the bottom so we didn't finish them. The chicken wings and sauce were good and the waitress was great. I would give them another try. read more

Llywelyn's largely provides traditional bar food, but the kind that appeals o a foodie or a couple looking for an experience elevated from the dim, smoky joint with a pool table. An oversize hamburger needed seasoning, but was excellent alongside thin, crispy fries. A side of vegetables turned out to be delightful green beans to accompany two, juicy grilled chicken strips. And these entrées were from the kids menu, which satisfied two, not-to-hungry adults. read more

My 12 coworkers and I rolled into Llywelyn's last minute for lunch on a Thursday, and we were seated immediately. The ambiance has that traditional "Irish pub" feel. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, and it was a bit different than I expected. It came with some sort of sauce or gravy on top that overpowered the rest of the flavors, imo. We visited Llywelyn's Pub on Main Street St Charles for a late "dinner" and enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere on their patio. Our waitress was prompt, answered questions about items on the menu, and served our table well. The food as good and everyone in our party was satisfied...fried pickles appetizer, chicken wings, house made chips, chicken sandwich, and various sides and other sandwiches. I have avoided this restaurant for poor service and food in the past. It was such a beautiful day and I do love their patio. We were hoping to sit outside and enjoy the weather, an appetizer and a drink. We decided to sit inside. After about 5 minutes we were given menus and told our server would be with us soon. Two different servers walked by at least twice without any acknowledgment. I would have taken a simple statement that they would be with us shortly. Nothing. We live right by the LS Llywelyn's, and we love it there-- so we had to try the St. Charles location. It is just beautiful! Huge, spacious patio with bar in the middle. We sat at the outside bar and had great service. We did not eat this time around and just had drinks, but the food looked excellent. read more

I had the Pub burger and fires and it was average. the burger was cooked well but very bland no seasoning at all on it cheese and bacon good could use a bit more onion and the English muffin was ok. read more

My husband and I came here on a nice Monday night to sit outside and have some drinks. The patio is nice and has lots of seating available. They even have a bar you can sit at with TVs. We brought our dog which was allowed outside and all the staff members were very friendly to him. We got some beers and they have a good amount of drafts on tap which we love. To eat I got the Rueben and my husband got a burger. The Rueben was good. I prefer a lot of sauerkraut on my Rueben's and this did not have a lot but I understand not everyone loves sauerkraut. Stopped for lunch and had a wonderful meal .... My gosh.... The place was busy !! Very cool building. Inside, the back bar is stunning with the carvings. We sat at the bar and Crystal was our Bartender. Busy lady but got to us eventually. Not being super hungry, we split the chicken tenders with waffle sweet potatoes for lunch and enjoyed it. I found myself in MO and by recommendation I headed to downtown Saint Charles. It was a fine recommendation! Main Street looks like a page from a history book! Llywelyn's was a score! As we walked down Main St we looked in the windows at all the bars along the street and most of them looked like they had the same beer distributors with the same boring selection of Budweiser owned brands. Llywelyn's on the other hand had a great selection of local and not so local craft beers. This was exactly what we were looking for! Besides all the awesome beers, the food was amazing! The menu has some pub grub standards as well as some surprises. For example the side salad, normally a boring offering they stepped it up a huge notch. Spring greens as the base topped with some yummy cheese and crispy onion strings as well as some cucumber and cherry tomatoes, really tasty and totally worth $3.75! I had the steak and cheese sandwich, and it was delicious. The cheese part is a soft pepper cheese that they make in house and the steak was chopped up marinated steak that was char grilled to perfection. I chose the house made chips as a side and a little more pepper cheese to dip them in, YUM! After dinner we walked to the end of the street peeking in all the bars windows and ended up coming back for a final beer! Great food, ambiance, service, did I mention beer? I love this place! I'm honestly not sure how to say this. I have heard Chef Aaron.Sanchez use the word unctuous to describe food but never experienced it until their Pork Belly it was amazing. There was no fat it disintegrated when it hit your mouth and was like nothing I've ever eaten and I have eaten in hundreds of respectable well known restaurants in 76 years. This was a fantastic surprise. I only ate half so I could experience it again when I the next potatoes were wonderful not a big fan of the way they cook brussels sprouts they were a little bit hard, but they tasted OK if you want to experience something different that you've never had before and can put it out of your mind that it's nothing but a pile of fat give it a try it is definitely not oily greasy fatty anything like that it was pure heaven . It's been a couple of years since I last visited a Llywelyn's, but I used to be a regular over a decade ago during my college days. I even hosted birthdays in the bank vault and made a point to visit every location they had back then. So when my husband and I recently decided to stop by the Main Street St. Charles location, I was hoping for some good ol' nostalgia--but sadly, it's just not what it used to be. Atmosphere: It was seat-yourself when we arrived. They were busy, but there were a few open tables. The noise level was really high, which made it hard to communicate with our server and probably led to a mix-up with my drink order. The service overall was average--nothing terrible, just not particularly attentive or memorable. What We Ordered: * Me: Famous Steak & Cheese Sandwich (no tomato, steak cooked medium) with pub fries. Water + a Kentucky Mule (or so I tried). * Him: Reuben sandwich with sweet potato waffle fries. Iced tea. The Food: My sandwich was warm, not hot, which was a little disappointing. The steak was cooked to my liking, though. Fries tasted like they'd been sitting out a while--not fresh. Meanwhile, my husband's waffle-style sweet potato fries were hot, crispy, and clearly just made. He definitely won that round. The Drinks: Here's where things went sideways. I ordered a Kentucky Mule--basically a Moscow Mule but with whiskey instead of vodka. I even clarified it that way to the server, who looked confused, but nodded like he got it. A few minutes later, he brings me a mule and says he'll be back with a Blueberry Mule. My husband and I were confused--neither of us ordered that. But sure enough, he comes back and hands me the Blueberry Mule, assuming I wanted two mules. We shrugged and kept it, since I figured I might get more drinks anyway. That said...both drinks were weak, watery, and definitely not worth the $10 each. To make matters worse, they didn't even come in mule mugs--just regular glasses. (Okay, maybe I'm picky, but the mug is part of the experience!) A Nostalgic Letdown: One thing I always loved about Llywelyn's was the plastic cups they used to serve everything in--even cocktails. I have a whole cabinet full of colorful ones from back in the day. This time? No plastic cup. I've heard they only do them during special events now, which is a bummer for long-time fans like me. Final Thoughts: Overall, the visit was just... disappointing. I know some locations have closed, and maybe the business is struggling, but it just didn't feel like the Llywelyn's I used to know. The food was okay, the service was average, and the drinks were underwhelming. I really wanted to enjoy coming back--but it left me feeling like something special had been lost. read more

From the fresh Caesar salad to the perfectly greasy pub burger the food here is spectacular. My favorite thing to get here is the spicy mac & cheese bites and usually the sweet potato waffle fries however this time around they were a little dry :(. The restaurant was busy when we came in so the food was a little slow to come out, but as people started to leave they had gotten quicker, still great service! Hey Siri go to bar to grab a quick drink I like that it's an Irish style bar. The bartenders are super friendly and the drinks are reasonably priced. We spent $11 on two drinks. We came in on a Tuesday about 530 and there was only a few people in the bar. Great menus with a large selection or drinks and food! You will always make friends here. Upon walking up they did have outdoor seating available and it was a nice day so I took advantage. I got there at 5p but it filled up fast . Plentiful seating. I ordered the Llewelyn grilled chicken sandwich and skinny fries. The bread was so soft and melted in your mouth. The skinny fries are thin and seasoned good. Also ordered two drinks the Llewelyn breeze and raspberry lemonade, both were delicious. Prices were reasonable, waitress was busy but alert . Parking was limited up front but plentiful in the back parking lot. Really good experience! read more
