I have visited JP's hideout on several occasions to hear some of my favorite local musicians play. They have a large parking lot. While they don't have a cover charge, it seems that the prices go up after the band starts playing. I've enjoyed several different dishes and they've all been quite good. I tend to like the fish tacos the best. They have a full bar and some fun cocktails as well. The atmosphere is very casual and they support local music. read more

Updates review from 2023, happy to report that as of 3/11/26 this business is still going strong and better than ever. It's nice to see that it's made a comeback in spite of the Plandemic. They have a nice patio, full bar, trivia , live music and good food. The bacon cheeseburger was cooked as ordered and seasoned well with plenty of cheese and bacon with hot crispy fries . I'd been seeing their pot pie special pop up on Facebook as weather was getting colder, finally stopped in to try it and was not disappointed. Good flaky crust, big hunks or real chicken (do wish this was cut up a bit more) and nice filling. Hit the spot on a chilly winter night. It does take 25 min to cook after ordering so just be aware if you are in a hurry. Also tied the ravioli as appetizer, they were good but marinara sauce had a weird sweetness to it. Service was good and prices reasonable for portions received. It does get pretty loud once it starts filling up. read more

I went on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch, sat at the bar and had Lindy and she was awesome. I went back the next day for happy hour. I was never acknowledged until someone finally asked me what I wanted, almost 10 minutes. I ordered the espresso martini. Which she brought promptly. Not a bartender in sight until I was patiently waiting to close my tab, at least five minutes. I had one espresso martini, and my bill was $17.49. Are we freaking in Miami? I ordered off the cocktail menu, a black cherry cottleville coolie. It tasted like an Italian soda, with a little kick. All 3 of us ordered the smothered chicken with blackened chicken that came with mashed potatoes and gravy, and grilled veggies. I believe the gravy to be cornstarch thickened rather than flour, for the gluten intolerant. I ate the gravy bc i didn't know to request without - no ill effects so far iykyk. My wife and I stumbled across this place for lunch. What a great surprise! We had the giant pretzel and got the double smash burger and Cobb salad. We could have split one of the meals, because they were huge! The pretzel was fresh and delicious. Clearly home made and not frozen. The cheese dip and honey mustard went great with it. The interior is typical bar decor, lots of lights and signs. TVs spread around showing different events, but the volume was low enough to have a normal conversation. Servers were all friendly and nice. Made some good recommendations and helped us figure out the menu. We loved our lunch, and are sad that it's so far from home. "I've enjoyed trying local places, but during my recent visit I declined a dish I didn't care for. The waitress handled it professionally, and I asked the waitress not to tell the chef, but the chef/owner came to my table afterward, asked why I didn't like it, and responded with 'Don't order it next time' in a hostile tone before walking away. I wanted to share this because the experience made me uncomfortable, and angry. I hope future feedback can be handled in a friendlier way, especially when the food tasted horrible. It was so full of spinach. It was ridiculous. That's all you could taste and the mushrooms made it mushy and chewy. 12-15 of us came here for book club yesterday. I appreciate that we could make a reservation in advance and they had plenty of room. The service was fine, but several people protested the prices and quality were not up to par. I asked about happy hour specials and was told wine was $1.00 off per glass...but since there were no prices posted (and none on the website that I can find), I have no idea if I got the right price or not. My friend and I ordered from the same little card and hers was definitely less expensive. Another woman noted that her drink was $2 cheaper next door at Lulu's. Another few noted that the margarita tasted nothing like a margarita. And while my meatballs smelled delicious, the taste and consistency were not good. This was an expensive and sub-par experience and we decided not to go back. I will say I've heard great things about the live music, though. read more

Nice bar in Cottleville. I heard they have good smash burgers so I went on a Sunday evening. My dinner date and I both ordered smash burgers. I got a double with pepper jack and fries. The food was great. Not the thinnest burger ever but perfectly smashed and crisp. I liked the French fries. They have a nice batter and seasoning. Good meat to bun ratio. The service was friendly. Not the fastest but it was Sunday and we weren't in a hurry. If I have one complaint it's that they don't wipe down the ketchup bottles. It's one of my pet peeves! Out and about today and decided to give JP's hideout a try. Located in Cottleville, Missouri, JP's hideout is an up-and-coming sports bar and decided to give them a try. Server was very attentive, and she immediately took our beverage order decided to try a Las Vegas mule, and took a few minutes to review the menu before ordering. JP's hideout has a diverse traditional sports bar, menu of wings, burgers sandwiches, and anything else you can think of to compliment a tasty beverage. We went with an order of hot wings, and a side of fries, a chopped chicken salad, and also JP's version of fish and chips. All dishes came very quickly and we're seasoned to taste. JP's hideout did have plenty of tables that were serviced quickly during the lunch rush and can accommodate large groups if needed. Just a great neighborhood eatery. Delicious burgers, wings, etc. Staff is always friendly and service is fairly quick. The bar in the middle sets a great vibe, even if you aren't drinking. Found this hidden gem on Yelp and boy am I thankful I did! We stopped in last night with a group of 5 later in the evening around 8. One of the gentlemen that worked there gave us an ETA on seating and was so so kind. He came by and gave us an update every 5 minutes or so based on which tables were almost done. We got in and got a table further away from the live music (which was excellent, but very loud at the tables next to the performer) so we could make conversation without screaming. Our waitress was wonderful and the drinks we ordered were made well. We ordered the pretzel, toasted ravioli, and wings and they all came out quickly and we're delicious. They were all so good! For entrees most of us for the Monte Cristo and fries- simply because Monte Cristo's are hard to come by. Boy am I glad I ordered it because WOW- not only is the portion absolutely enormous; they knocked it out of the park on the flavor. You can't really tell from the pictures- but each monte cristo Fourth is about the size of your hand. I have been known to eat more than 99% of women and I couldn't finish the entire thing (my kind of portion!) The preserves/compote that comes with the Monte cristo is fresh and flavorful. It was the star of the show. The breading on the sandwich was crispy and gave a funnel cake-esque flavor with the powdered sugar- but was not overly greasy or overly sweet. A perfect balance. It is certainly rich- but so are all Monte Cristo's, hence why I opted for it! One of my friends got the twisted Reuben and another got the grilled chicken sandwich and both loved their dishes. Fries were also some of the best I have had at a restaurant. Between the excellent service, prices, portions, and flavors- I will likely be a regular here. Thrilled we gave it a try! read more

This is one PRIMETIME neighborhood pub n grill. Food was great, service is second to none and place looks great inside. My JP double smash burger was so big n delish it was starting to fall apart and i could not eat all of it. But, it was good and the fries were perfectly hot and tasty. My wife and neighbors decided to give JP's Hideout a try for a Friday dinner. We had been here before, for drinks, but hadn't tried their food. It is a nice neighborhood bar with a lot of televisions, so that I could keep up with the March Madness basketball games. We arrived at 6:00 pm and it was very crowded. We put our name of the list for a table but within 5 minutes, there was a corner spot at the bar opened up and that was good for the 4 of us. Even though we were at the bar, because it was on the corner we were able to have a good conversation. The bartender was busy and did a good job of getting us our drinks and refilling them or getting us another round when we were ready for them. They have a nice variety of beers, with some of them being from the smaller St. Louis Breweries. We ordered a large pretzel for the appetizer. It was hot, soft on the inside with cheese and mustard dipping sauces. It was very good. Three of us ordered the Fish and Chips, since we are in Lent, and a Chop salad with fried chicken. We all really enjoyed our food!! The portion sizes were huge and the taste of everything was really good. The only minor negative item was that it was pretty loud overall. We all agreed that they exceeded our expectations. We will put this on our list of go to restaurants for the future. I highly recommend that you give them a try!! read more

Tried the prime rib weekend special for $29. I requested med rare, it was basically medium. I know prime rib is a little fatty, but this piece was at least 40% fat. It was a thick cut, but the high % of fat ruined it, as far as I was concerned. The baked potato and side salad were excellent. My wife had the smothered chicken which she enjoyed. Awesome food, decent atmosphere, friendly staff! Visited JP's on a Tuesday night for a girls catch up session. One of the ladies is engaged to the kitchen manager and wanted us to meet him and sample the food, all of which is made in house from scratch. I'm so glad we did! We munched on the enormous Bavarian pretzel with an incredible cheese sauce and some great mustard. Next we shared the chicken in a waffle cone which was fantastic with the house made bbq sauce for dipping. Enjoyed Blue Moon on draft and water that was refilled quickly. The only downside was that just after we ordered a woman began setting up a loudspeaker and preparing to host music bingo. It was pretty loud so we moved out to the patio, which was very pleasant. We visited JP Hideout's for dinner before a soccer game. While the restaurant was somewhat busy, we arrived two and a half hours early, expecting plenty of time for a relaxed meal. We were seated on the patio and initially greeted by our server, who brought our first round of drinks promptly. Unfortunately, the service went downhill from there. We waited a long time for our second round of drinks and eventually had to flag down another staff member to locate our server. By this point, we had already placed our food order. Over an hour passed with no updates, so I had to seek out our server again. She informed us the food was on its way, then returned shortly after to tell us the kitchen was out of mac & cheese for the kids--something we should've been told much earlier. About ten minutes later, our meals arrived. I had ordered the fish and chips, and upon breaking into one of the pieces, I discovered a long green strand of hair embedded in the fish--possibly from a St. Patrick's Day, given the color and size. We requested to speak with a manager. When she arrived, her response was dismissive. She simply said they were busy, offered no apology, no solution, and took no responsibility for the issues we experienced. She didn't offer to remake the dish or even package something to-go. Her attitude reflected a serious lack of professionalism and care. To make matters worse, a spicy chicken wrap we ordered came with grilled chicken instead of crispy, was overloaded with lettuce, and barely had any meat. At that point, we didn't even bother raising the issue--it was clear nothing would be addressed. As a former server myself, I fully understand how hectic restaurant work can be. But being busy should never be an excuse for poor service, lack of communication, or unsanitary food. What's most disappointing is that no one--from our server to the manager--took accountability for the experience or offered a sincere apology. They did remove the fish from the bill, but the overall experience was so poor that we will not be returning and will spread awareness so other families do waste their money. read more

We were asked to seat ourselves We got the big pretzel as an appetizer and that was good. I ordered this fish tacos grilled with roasted veggies (All zucchini wtf) the wife got a smash burger and fries. My fish tacos were not seasoned so really bland. The wife reported the same with her burger. I ate the tacos because I'm a dude. And the wife got a togo box for the dogs (FYI they liked it) we got the food and then noticed that we had no silverware... So it took a bit to flag down a waitress. Didn't get any refills on sodas tipped 20+% So on the bill there is a cash price and a credit price... It seems we threw a wrench in the checkout process by paying with $20s and asking for change. So you sort of get punished by paying with cash... Whatever we probably won't be back. I probably rated this place higher than I should have. TL;DR Overrated high priced food. Atmosphere was good. If you're looking for a bar in the area to watch a game this is the place. Popped in one night just to grab something to eat and it was a pretty good place. The space is a decent size with a big bar area and lots of bar tops. They have a lot of TVs so if you are wanting to watch sports this place is going to have them on. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The waitresses were constantly moving around seeing if we needed anything and that was nice! The menu had a decent variety of items. It had mostly appetizers and sandwiches. It had a few salad options that you could make into a wrap and a few entrees. My mom got the meatball appetizer and it was a good size. The meatballs were very good. I got the JP's double smash burger and that was very good. It was a pretty big burger even though it was smash burgers.
