Access was only by an exterior set of stairs. There was an elevator, but it was out of service. If my wife had been with me, we wouldn't have even gone inside. The staff were friendly and food delivery was reasonably quick. The burnt ends did not "melt" in my mouth like a proper burnt end should. They were fibrous and took a bit of chewing. They were also too sweet, so the meat's natural flavor was masked. The sausage was just OK, nothing special to look forward to. The potato salad was overly mustard based and unenjoyable. Two bites were all I could stand. The baked beans with pulled pork were very good. They could have better if they were more savory and less sweet. If I hadn't just visited family in Austin, TX, perhaps I would've been more favorable to Hendricks. I came for the Blues Jam with Brad Allen, and got surprisingly talented open mike. The talent was on display in the basement bar/restaurant area called Moonshine Blues Bar. We started with brisket sandwich with Swiss cheese that was very good (my friend wanted to re-emphasise theis. I had the rice and cheese with a little broccoli as my side... it was ok. My friend and I met up for dinner the other night at Hendrick's. We were looking for some BBQ and many of the other places nearby were already closed as many close at 7 or 8 and it was already after 7 when we met up. Since we had not been to Hendrick's before, we thought we would give it a try. Upon arriving, I was able to find a parking spot in the back lot (?) and then I had to take the elevator up to the main restaurant. My friend was already inside seated so I joined her at the table and then our server came over to take our drink orders. There was not a drink menu on the table, so he went to find one for us and brought us some water as well. We each ordered a seasonal cider for our drinks and then placed an order for corn muffins as an app. We looked over the menu and were ready to order when he came back with our drinks. I ordered the pulled chicken with macaroni and cheese and fried okra and my friend ordered the brisket with okra and grits. When the corn muffins arrived, they were warm and had a side of honey butter and some chutney. When I picked up the corn muffin, it crumbled and was extremely dry. Even adding the butter or chutney did not help the muffins texture or taste. They were quite bland. When our food arrived, we had our server go over the sauces on the table and then started to eat. First thing we both noticed is that the meat was dry and really needed bbq sauce to help the flavor. My friend said her grits had no flavor and my macaroni and cheese was also really dry and lacked the cheesy goodness that I was expecting. The fried okra was the only decent thing on our plates. The food was just meh and I do not think this is a place I would recommend when there are so many other BBQ places in the area. When we were in St Charles, MO we checked out Hendricks BBQ. It had an eclectic decor with lots of piggy art. Every where I turned something caught my eye. I loved the feel and the vibe of the place. They served our waters in mason jars and we had red and white checked napkins. The best part of the whole place though was the food! We had so many amazing appetizers. Both the fried green tomatoes and the onions ring were my second favorites. My favorite appetizer had to be the pork nachos! They were amazing and totally could have been a meal. In fact I may have returned the following evening and ordered these again I ordered the ribs and they did not disappoint. They were so tasty and moist. The seasoning was perfect and the sweet potato fries were probably the best sweet potato fries I ever had! I didn't think I could eat one bite more until they brought me my dessert. My husband and I came here when we visited St. Louis and because of the mixed reviews online, I was admittedly a little nervous to try it; however, the food we had was pretty good, and we had decent service. When we first got here, we noticed the industrial and woody atmosphere with interesting art on the walls. Our service here was okay, but a bit spotty, and it took a while for our food to arrive despite the restaurant being dead; there were only a couple tables of people other than us. For my drink, I ended up ordering a drink called Bomb Pop ($10) that tasted like a snowcone. It was okay, but it tasted very watered down and looked much more watery than the picture on the drink menu. I would never order it again. For food, we ordered the deviled eggs appetizer ($6.75) and they were good. They had a ton of paprika seasoning and the yolk mixture inside of the whites was delicious and had a creamy texture. The appetizer came with 5 halves, so the price wasn't too bad. Then, I ordered the "1 meat and 2 sides" meal ($17.25). My protein was the rib tips, and then I chose a baked potato and green beans as my sides. The rib tips had a great sauce on them, but they were extremely fatty, so I ended up giving my husband many of them because they were hard to eat. Yes, I know that rib tips are a fattier piece of meat, but if cooked correctly, much of the fat should become crispy and/or cook off the fat. My sides were great, though, and I loved all of the hot sauces available at each table. My favorites were the house BBQ sauce and the STL BBQ sauce! For my husband's dinner, he picked the "2 meats and 2 sides" meal ($19.50). He ordered the smoked brisket and smoked sausage as his proteins, and then got green beans and coleslaw as his sides. He enjoyed his food and liked the smoked sausage a lot. He didn't like the coleslaw, though, because he felt it was a bit too tangy for his liking. Overall, I would try other new BBQ places before I'd come back here. Other than the decent prices and the readily available hot sauces at your table, it was nothing special. The brisket was nicely smoked too. The meat was everything it should be. All the sauces were pretty sweet, and none of them were spicy, which was a bit disappointing. The sides were homemade. The onion rings were fantastic!!! Thick cut, deep fried to crunchy perfection in their house batter. Chunky mustard potato salad with a little twang. My only disappointment was the collards. One of biggest reasons for my 3 star rating is the waitress. She was not friendly at all and plus when I checked in on Yelp I was surprised to see a complimentary app or drink BUT the business didn't honor it. Waitress just said "yeah we don't do that ". Never had that happen before. I ended up ordering an nachos anyway for the table as they were on special that night. Of course the waitress didn't even tell us that we overheard it from someone else. My burger was so-so. They put some spice on it that I didn't love. Others in my group rated food anywhere from good to okay. A couple of them really liked their greens. Be aware that there is parking behind the restaurant down the hill.
