Proof we went to get some afterwards

Grandparents (now long gone) used to take us here many years ago, so we made a point to visit while in Toledo to visit with family. We've been to BE's in Florida so we thought we knew what to expect. We got a wonderful surprise... the waitress (Shelby) was charming and very friendly. The food came and OMG. While everything was good, the sausage and bacon were absolutely amazing. I don't know if the Ohio BE's have a different supplier than the ones in FL but everyone in my party agreed this was something special. We even went to a local grocery store and got some sausage chubs that we will freeze to take home to San Diego (I hope they make it!) My peach tea almost got empty and I was going to waive down Shelby for some more and she appeared out of nowhere with a full one without asking. I don't think I've ever given 4 stars to a breakfast chain but this one is given without hesitation.

    Near front entrance!

Due to the fact that Michigan restaurants are still closed for indoor dining, we needed to get out and because we were missing going out for Sunday brunch. The drive was only a forty minute drive from our house and it was well worth it. The restaurant is practicing social distancing, the floors are marked and each booth is covered with protective screen for social distancing. All staff and customers have to wear a mask up until you eat. The food and the service was great. It was a sight to see that the parking lot was full of Michigan cars. I just wish that they would open the restaurants in Michigan. Michigan indoor dining doesn't open until February 1st, I pray for all those who are affected by this. We may have to drive another day for our date night! It's so worth it! Something different to do!

Everything was good! The fried shrimp was really crispy, the potatoes were nice and creamy, and the gravy was flavorful. The sole was nicely seasoned and the veggies were good as well. The steak was cooked properly and nicely seasoned so no complaints there either. The pies were all good especially the pecan. Our waitress was great. Really attentive, fast, friendly, and kept our glasses full.

My dog's groomer is right across the street or else I would have missed out. I walked in and ordered at the register. The menu is written on a chalkboard. I was hoping for a spinach omelette but they were out of spinach (same as last time I was there). Instead I opted for a veggie omelette with cheese. I also ordered a coffee. The way their system works is that you place your order and pay; then you're seated and your beverage/food is brought to your table. I sat in a booth and my coffee was very promptly brought out to me. The ambiance is absolutely adorable with red and white tablecloths and balloons. There is also an ice cream counter. It was a very pleasant setting in which to enjoy my coffee. Within a reasonable amount of time, my omelette was served with a side of toast. The omelette was huge and filled with lots of tasty tomatoes, onions and green peppers, all finely chopped and perfectly seasoned. Hash browns were also tucked inside the omelette. Although the cheese had been forgotten, I didn't miss it too much because the omelette itself was so delicious. The toast was served with delicious homemade strawberry jam. I could only eat half of the omelette and was given a box to take it home. My server was a very sweet young girl who kept checking to see if I needed anymore coffee and if everything tasted good. At a nearby table, a woman spilled her glass of water and people from the kitchen immediately came out to clean it up. They were extremely good spirited and reassured the embarrassed woman that it happened all the time and was no problem. The atmosphere felt very warm and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Grace's Kitchen in Point Place as a charming spot for breakfast or lunch. It's on Summit Street across from Aunt Linda's Pet Grooming and H&R Block. Check out the picture of my omelette and the inside of Graces Kitchen. (For some reason they appear below my prior review.) While other reviews note that this is a cash-only establishment, I used a credit card both times I was there, though I left a cash tip on the table this time.

Today, I tried something else that I unfortunately didn't love, so I'm rating it 4 stars. Today, I didn't place my to-go order ahead of time and instead walked in and sat at the counter and sipped on a diet pepsi while I waited. I would describe the decor as cozy, rustic farmhouse chic, with lots of pictures of pigs. I had time to take pics while I waited for my order. I stopped in a bit later than the usual lunch rush, so there was literally no one dining in. A couple of people came in to pick up their carryout orders. The server was very friendly and down to earth. I ordered the pepper smoked turkey sandwich based on some reviews that raved about it. Rather than chips or fries, I opted to upgrade to a slaw for $2 more. I couldn't wait to get back to the office and try the food. Before digging in, I took photos because everything looked delicious. The meal was top notch quality. The turkey was thickly sliced with artisan lettuce and a garlic aioli sauce, plus cheddar cheese. The bread was a tasty sour dough. I ordered it without onions because I didn't want onion breath. Despite the high quality ingredients, it somehow wasn't amazing. It was very good but I didn't taste the pepper flavor on the turkey. The slaw was a nice mixture of kale, cabbage and carrots. For my taste, the cream sauce was on the sweet side, whereas my preference is less sweet and more tangy. Nevertheless, the ingredients were very fresh. As I reached the bottom of the bowl, however, there was a lot of runny cream sauce. Again, my personal preference is for less cream; someone else might love it. I know it seems like I am being overly picky, but I should mention that the total cost of my lunch (before tip) was $18.75 (sandwich, slaw and diet pepsi that was a fountain drink with mostly ice). Yes, everything is expensive these days, but I couldn't help being disappointed. I would absolutely return and order the Turkey Reuben in a heartbeat but wouldn't order the pepper turkey sandwich, slaw or soda. I'd also recommend dining in the adorable restaurant rather than eating at an office desk with plastic utensils!

They no longer offer table service so you go to the bar to place your order. I asked for my wings to be VERY well done. I don't know why places struggle with this all you need to do is leave them in the fryer. No rocket science but they still came out soggy. The flavor was good but limp chicken skin is revolting. The burger was advertised as having fresh-cut fries. I see a trend of restaurants saying this and then serving a frozen product that resembles a fresh-cut fry. This is essentially false advertising. My husband said the burger was a frozen patty which is surprising because we have heard ppl rave about this burger. We have had the nachos before and loved the homemade unsalted chips. They were good but severely lacked cheese. Without cheese, all the meat etc just fell right off. My husband had 2 beers, PBR, and with tip our bill was $62! Which brings me to, why am I tipping you? I have to walk up to the bar to get and order my food and to pay my bill. WHY am I tipping you? I did more work to get my food and drink than you did?! To top everything off the owner's child maybe 3 or 4 was running all over and screaming the whole time we were there. Meh, not impressed this time.

Ambiance was dark- like a bar-type of atmosphere- which didn't matter because it was an overcast day in Ohio. It was also more of a sports var as there were lots of TV screens. For my taste, the chicken was a bit overcooked, but better than undercooked. The fries were delicious, even though I only ate a few. Before I went to college, I worked in a nice seafood restaurant and our nightly task was to make sure ketchup containers were full. Therefore, I noticed that my container of ketchup was down to the last few squirts. Never a good thing/sound! Overall, not a bad place to eat, but nothing worth going out of your way to try, imo.
