Both were very yummy, the chicken was TENDER, buns were soft and delicious, and it filled me up well. Ended up saving the gorilla fries for later and they still held up. I got the hot sammie, which had 5 or 6 different spice level options. Because I had an activity afterwards and didn't want to risk it, I went safe with the Mild. Tasty and generously/uniquely seasoned! I liked it with the cole slaw as well. Also tried the truffle waffle fries (medium) which were tasty. Rounded it with their classic lemonade and this was good, maybe a little on the syrupy sweet end for my preference. Ambiance is more like a 3 to me. Try as I might, I just don't think Eureka is good. Yes, the food is made fresh, and the ingredients seem to be pretty high quality, but across the board, the flavors just aren't there beyond the insane levels of heat offered for the chicken. I have to wonder if Eureka was in a stand-alone restaurant, not in a gas station, would people give it high marks? Part of me thinks the location just lowers people's expectations. We took some friends there today after they saw some of Eureka's great social media. The group was super excited to try everything, but across the board, was let down by the bland flavors and atmosphere. Skipping the chicken, I tried the 'birria' quesadilla, which had super wet (not moist) meat, almost no cheese, and oddly flavorless consomé. My friend got the medium heat tenders after my warning and was still shocked by how hot they were. The highlight for me was my wife's (no heat) tenders and the shack sauce, which had a nice zip to compliment the freshly fried chicken. The entire table began talking about what they were going to want to eat next, as no one was particularly satisfied with their food, or the frustratingly disinterested service. Tried Eureka Eatery for the first time at Arts, Beats, and Eats and was craving it again only a few months later so my friends and I drove an hour to Monroe! It was just as good as we remembered and our only complaint is that it's so far :( Highly recommend the dirty mac bowl as well as their classic spicy chicken sandwiches! Whenever I happen to be in the area I'd always make sure I stop and get a sandwich or something from here, it was amazing. After not being there in maybe a few months something changed. Their food changed. Sandwiches are not flavorful enough. Hot used to be hot, now it's like they forgot the spice altogether. Their Mac and cheese used to be incredible. I had never heard of this place (it's 45 minutes away from me, to be fair) until my friend suggested it. I am a HUGE lover of Hattie bs in Nashville and I've been trying to find something comparable since the last time I was down there. Happy to report I found it! Not sure why they decided to put it in a gas station, though. There are just a few tables inside and luckily we were able to snag one. I got a hot sandwich (3rd hottest spice) and truffle waffle fries. Both were absolutely PERFECT. So, why not 5 stars then? Service. I am a picky eater and I know that (no slaw, no sauce... don't judge me), but they messed up my food and took quite a while to acknowledge me at the counter (one of the staff were filling out a form of some kind, and the other was helping a customer). When he finally noticed me, he seemed a bit confused but was on top of it and the issue was resolved. Also when I was trying to decide on an order, I felt very rushed by the cashier. Seems to be a young crowd working here which is common for "fast food" but it's still a job and you have to work with customers.. If you come, make sure you check your order before leaving. Since a Eureka Eatery will be opening near me soon, I decide to try the Monroe location when I was in the area. The gas station location is little off putting. And although it's clearly popular, there are only two tables and no good places to stand and wait for your order. I ordered the Hot Sammie, some medium-spice tenders, and a lemonade. OMG, the strawberry mint lemonade is the bomb! A little sweet, but very flavorful! The hot sammie, aka spicy chicken sandwich, was excellent too and huge! The tenders were a little too spicy for so-called medium spice so the hot must be extra hot. Prices were a little on the expensive side for a chicken sandwich in my opinion, or certainly compared to their most similar competition - Dave's Hot Chicken. I look forward to trying it closer to home when they open but mostly for the lemonade. read more

Nephew told me about this joint, decided to swing by for lunch. I got the hot sammie w/ medium spice; made it combo - large one and ordered a side of mac-n-cheese. Paid $20.65. The food came out fast, within few minutes. Overall, the chicken sandwich was decent. The chicken itself was not piping hot, rather just warm. The slaw did not help as it had no mayo, seemed like it wasn't seasoned at all. The chicken itself was juicy and moist and fried perfectly, however if you prefer crispy, then you'll be disappointed. The waffle fries and the mac-n-cheese were decent. Few things. If you like spicy chicken, order from hot and above; medium didn't have any kick. I don't know if it was one of those "day off", but the slaw needs some major overhaul. I'll be back for sure, going to try the tenders and spice level hot and above, truffle fries and shawarma. I often drop by Eureka eatery when I'm driving through the area and it's a great guilty pleasure. I love their monthly menu features. Their Mac and cheese is not my favorite, it tastes a bit bland, but the very flavorful chicken and other dishes definitely make up for it. I also love the truffle fries! Their halal Nashville chicken is incredible and perfectly spicy. I recently tried their December special of the Nashville chicken tacos and the flavor on this was incredible! Driving by, you would have NO idea that the best food was in the drive thru at this gas station. The food is beyond amazing. Their classics that stay on their menu like the truffle fries are to die for. But their monthly specials that they switch out on their menu are even better. This month I got the filthy Nashville hot waffle fries and the Nashville hot corn ribs. The shack sauce is phenomenal on just about anything on the menu. My favorite part is their milk shakes, you have to get one! The classics that stay on their menu are great, like the fruity pebble or the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. But this months mixer was banana pudding, it was delicious!! Only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5, was because of service. Plan to be in the drive thru for a long time. Yummy Nashville hot style chicken... my BF says next time he's going "inferno"- this time it was just "kluckin." We each had the special Sammy- personally I could barely eat mine at "mild" and he had to complete. I don't think he breathed the entire time. You can get waffle fries and a beverage with that for a small up charge. They have a drive through, tables are at a minimum- two two tops and one 4 top in a very cozy setting in the middle of a bustling gas station with a pretty decent selection of liquor. I travel a lot for work and would typically stop at a fast food restaurant if I needed something quick to eat. I would much rather stop at this place, which is attached to a gas station. The Nashville hot chicken was amazing and is what this place specializes in. Got the regular fries but would definitely come back to try the truffle fries. Who said gas station food can't taste good. I really wanted to love Eureka Eatery. Their Facebook feed has beautiful pictures of large sandwiches overflowing with delicious looking ingredients. And Nashville Hot Chicken sandwiches are some of my favorites! While I'm not generally one who tries to eat the spiciest face melting peppers available, when eating foods that are traditionally very spicy I am always willing to put my body to the test, push the boundaries, and order at the hottest end of the spectrum. Yes, my head sweats. Yes, my mouth burns and my lips get numb. But that's intended to be part of the experience for many dishes. Perhaps when a previous reviewer was comparing Eureka to more traditional fast food options, they were referencing the disparity between the pictures of the food and what is actually served. Only the naive would expect to be served a Big Mac that looks like the one in the picture. But from a small regional sandwich place, that specializes in chicken sandwiches, my expectations were higher. However, my sandwich (and now looking more carefully at Yelp's photos of other sandwiches) was a good bit thinner with less of the goodness I had desired. The quality of the raw chicken may be high, but the quality of the fried crust applied to the pieces of breast meat could use some serious improvement. The crust is critically important when you are going to drench fried chicken with hot oil and seasonings. The breast itself was still tender and reasonably juicy, so kudos to Eureka for not overcooking this trickier muscle. As for heat levels, I went for "Inferno" which had an aggressively and appropriately angry spice profile. It made my lips numb and I could feel the warmth growing from within, but it did not make me sweat. I also did not have to respect the sandwich by eating it slowly, chewing it well, and swallowing it carefully, like I have grown accustomed to doing for truly superior versions of this sandwich. That said, my daughter who used to be able to handle legit buffalo chicken wings when we lived in New York, found her chicken strips ordered "hot" to be beyond her comfort zone. I blame living in the midwest for the past two years. I think it has made her soft. "Hot" was just right for my wife who was glad she didn't upgrade to "Burning", and "Medium" worked well for my oldest kid who dipped the strips in honey barbecue sauce to tame the spice. Truffle Waffle fries were just fine too. I like my fried foods super hot and crispy, but these were neither. The large felt like a moderate size, and given the setting and the price, I expected the large to be larger Clearly the spot is super popular. There was a line of cars and a crowd inside to get their hands on a sack of this highly seasoned fried food, wrapped in carbs, and served with specialty milkshakes. I might pop in again if I were ever passing through and was hungry. But I won't be making another trip Monroe for a hot chicken sandwich, especially given the better options closer to home in Ypsi. read more

The spice was customizable. I got mild because the cashier had me concerned about the medium...lol. I could have probably handled the medium just fine. The mild was a nice amount of spice though. Considering this is a chicken shop in a gas station I am thoroughly impressed. My boyfriend and I drove 50 minutes away to come here so to see that it was in a gas station was quite surprising. Gas station chicken sandwich, yes it was good, it was very good. But compared to other well known chicken sandwich places like Chick-fil-a or Popeyes they don't win. Eureka Eatery was crispy and fresh and it tasted really good, but didn't have the same moist chicken like other chicken chains. They also had fries that I loved! The normal waffle fries, I didn't care for, but the truffle fries, I loved! I also ordered an 8 piece chicken nugget and I'm gonna be honest, I didn't like them. They were dry and didn't have anything special about them. One other knock I would say is I thought this place was expensive. For a spicy chicken sandwich you spending $9 for just the sandwich and the small amount of truffle fries were $4. I would come back and eat here if I were in the area, but I'm not going out of my way to come here. I just had lunch here today. The hot chicken sandwich was outstanding! In fact, it is the best hot chicken sandwich I ever ate. I am a foodie and have been wanting to try this place ever since I read all the great reviews. I was a little hesitant only because it is in a gas station. Do not let that deter you. Again, "hands-down" the best chicken sandwich I ever had. The pickles and creamy cole slaw were the perfect additions to compliment the sandwich. And, the chicken was very juicy with just the right amount of heat (you can vary the spice level to your choosingI am already thinking about going back for another sandwich. Wow! The ambiance is inside a gas station. I was a little taken back by that when we were searching for it. Which also means there are only a few tables. I believe 3-4. The space for the food is pretty small and it gets packed. We drove around 30 minutes to try this spot so we didn't want to take it home and risk it getting cold and changing the flavor. All in all I wouldn't make the trip all the time. There were a few empanadas that were good none of them were bad. The chicken sandwhich was pretty tasty. Def one of the better ones I've tasted which def earned more stars. The strawberry mint lemonade was great however I didn't taste the mint. The max in cheese was pretty bland. My partner has been showing me Eureka Eatery's Instagram for ages. From the background of their photos I expected the place to have a nice outdoor patio and be trendy. I was surprised when it was inside a gas station. While I wish they would be a bit more honest on their instagram, I am a firm believer in not judging a book by its cover. We decided to go on our way to Ohio. It's a quick 6min detour from I-75. Normally I like taking good pictures of my food but the presentation compared to Instagram left me uninspired. We ordered the Mac and cheese with hot tenders which were served on top of fries. The fries were not listed as a part of the meal on the menu and I would of preferred just having more macaroni. We also got a large truffle fry, large pink lemonade and a peanut butter milk shake. The drinks were a bit too sweat for our tastes but they were good. I personally like my fries cooked a bit more but this is just my preference. More truffle less parmesan would also entice me to order them again but I'll probably pass on them next time. There will definitely be a next time though because the hot tenders were amazing! They were moist and flavorful.
