Yesterday I had another wonderful dining experience at American Diner. I tried for the very first time the American Diner skillet. What an outstanding meal!. They have wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner meals. The only restaurant in the area that is 24 hours Plus they serve alcohol. I highly recommend the American Diner if you haven't tried it. Stopped in while on a day trip to Michigan. It was clean, bright, and the server was quick. They only made 6 wings instead of the 9 my son ordered and the server looks at my hands, after my son stated the fact, I mean, I was busy with my delicious omelet, I didn't hide the wings... after my raised eyebrows a look like (wtf) they made three to round out the 9, and he said they were good. My western omelet was delicious. The ratio of cheese to veggies and ham was perfect. They were grilled BEFORE going into the omelet, which isn't always done. Real cheese, not nacho cheese garbage. Hashbrowns were amazing too. Lightly salted and hot! Very filling and I only ate half. Cute place, well priced, friendly and worth the stop. read more

Stopped in on our way to Toledo and I had the fried chicken and glad I did. Cooked to order and tasted like good ole southern fried chicken. Large pieces and delicious. My wife has a western omelette and hash browns and it was large and excellent. Service was very good and restaurant was clean. I wish we had something like this near home. read more

First time dining here! Husband and I stopped by after doing some shopping on a cold December day. They had a wide variety of lunch specials. Husband opted for the club sandwich and soup and I got the blt with soup and fries. We also ordered fried mushrooms. The soup came out first, beef vegetable, very quickly, and it was amazing! Perfect for the cold weather. Broth was great, chunky veggies and very filling. The mushrooms came out next, very good. Then shortly after the sandwiches. Mine was very large and my husband's was cut in quarters. Both sandwiches were very delicious and very filling. Definitely a great atmospheres and the service was top notch. She offered both boxes and to go drinks for the road. Very very impressed. read more

The last time I went, before I got to order I seen the waitresses use the cups to scoop ice (there's a designated scoop) I thought nothing major until I seen her eat off a customers plate before taking them their food. read more

Perfect diner breakfast. They have everything you could want, plus half orders & sides of items you don't have to order the full amount if you want variety-which I do. I don't want just eggs or just French toast. One of each please. The pancakes were really really good, super fluffy. Everything was simple (eg syrup in the little single serving containers) but fresh & hot. read more

Absolutely the worst service I've ever had. This young waitress tried to immediately deny my daughter a kids meal without even asking her age. Then she just decides to take her break right after we made a bit uncomfortable. The other waiter begins to help us and I ask for a refill on for my daughter and he said kids get no free refills. Mind you on their menu it says nothing about that or an age limit. So I ask for a manager and guess who returns from her break and says she's the manager yup that's right the first waitress we had. Absolutely ridiculous. Food was ok but the place looked nasty. My family and I will not be coming back. read more

This has got to be the worst place ever to eat, their service is horrible and the food taste like actual shit. The bathroom floor looked like it, had shit rubbed in it and was absolutely disgusting. As a server myself this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Called and ordered on the phone and the woman was rude from the start. She said she had a hard time hearing me, which happens, so I did everything in my power to ensure that she could hear my order. And I even confirmed what I had ordered at the end of the call. I arrive to pick up my food and once again ask the woman if this is what I ordered. She once again confirmed. We get home and open what should have been two chicken shawarma sandwiches and instead was two lamb shawarma dinners. When my dad called back to inform her that the order was completely wrong the woman said she couldn't hear me and "took me through all the prompts" when ordering. Not a single Im sorry or offer of fixing it all she had were rude, and sorry excuses. I would never speak to a customer like that myself or inherently blame them for serving them the complete wrong food. If you can't hear someone well on the phone repeat the order back plain and simple. read more

Thankful that you were open on Thanksgiving. We are from Arizona and in Monroe, MI for my husband's job. It was a sad day not being able to be with family this holiday. We drove downtown and saw that American Grill was open. Sarina greeted us with a big smile and wished us a "Happy Thanksgiving". She told us that they had a Thanksgiving dinner special. Turkey, dressing,( or stuffing depending where you are from) mashed potatoes, gravy, bean beans for 9.99 and free desert. The turkey was delicious and thick cut. Every thing tasted wonderful and Salina's sweetness added to a lovely dinner. Husband meal was free because he is a veteran and mine was 20 percent off because I am a senior. We had such large helpings, we were able to bring half back to the hotel for leftovers. We will he back. Thank you for heing open today. read more

My wife wanted to have a breakfast meal in the afternoon and I wanted a hot Turkey sandwich and a bowl of chili. The wife sent back her omelet because the gravy tasted too much like flour. The hot Turkey sandwich was ok with the mashed potatoes. The side salad was a little bit wilted but ok. The chili had a little spice to it but nothing to write home about. Of course I received my chili and the meal at the same time when I had asked for it as an appetizer. Our food also sat in the window for a few minutes before being brought to the table with only few customers there. The waitress brought our food and then never checked on us. My wife had to flag her down to have the meal returned. I kind of doubt we will be back. read more

My husband and I went to American Diner for a quick inexpensive dinner, we each had water for our drink, he wanted coney dogs, on the "special board" it had two coney's and fries for $ 10.99, however in the menu coney's are $2.99 ea, add fries for $1.99. so two coney's and fries from the menu is $8.00. so if you order the special you pay $2 more!!!!! I had the French dip and fries special for $10.99. I asked to replace my fries with onion rings, I figured there would be an upcharge but when the bill came they charged me $6.99 for onion rings!!!!!!! No money deducted for not getting the fries. Also my husband asked for heavy onion and was charged $1.98 for that!!!! So our inexpensive two coney's, French dip, fries and onion rings was $29.61. we let them know what we thought about this and demanded the fries we paid for!!! It is now wonder there are never more then 4-6 people at a time in this place!!! Never again!!!! read more

Nope. We really wanted to like this place because we miss Fino's so much. They aren't anywhere close. Food is pitiful with no seasoning. Seriously, eggs with NO SALT, NO PEPPER. Why bother? Their grits are like glue--the worst ever. Overcooked bacon that's dessicated and tasteless. Biscuits and gravy look like vomit. Popcorn oil for "butter" on their toast. Slow service, even in an empty (for reasons) restaurant. Extremely noisy cook constantly banging his metal spatula on the metal cooktop, creating a cacophony in the dining room. Did he think he was working at Benihana? Just stupid. Once and done. Will never return. Still missing Fino's. read more
