Our party of 6 enjoyed every single thing we tried and loved every bite. Stuffed pork chops, pasta with meat sauce, chicken Marsala, chicken parmigiana, ribs and a Rueben wrap with French fries. Generous serving sizes, quick, accurate service and very friendly staff. Our server, Brittany, was very attentive and on the ball. I met up with a friend that lives in Toledo. I had never been here but is a good mid point. The place sits in a plaza. It's a typical diner atmosphere. We were seated quickly. I was shown the drink menu and got a long island. It was not great and bland. The waitress was very kind and friendly. The menu had a variety from pasta,burgers, seafood and salads. I end up getting the fish and chips. The fish was great and there was not a lot of dough. I tried my friends patty melt and it was pretty bland. Lots of onions but not the greatest. This was a good go to for celebrations but since Covid you never know what you will get. And it also depends on the staff that night. When they are seasoned professionals, they keep track of the customer flow and you get seated promptly. You get menus and drinks on time, and someone tells you the specials. And when you get the newbies- well, it's like a toddler got to run the daycare. Nothing goes right and you wish you had gone elsewhere. Take your chances...you never know what you will get! Don't waste your hard earned dollars here! A group of us had dinner and we all were dissatisfied with our meals. Baked potato was not done, vegetable's were over cooked and lacked flavor, ordered a prime rib meal and they served over cooked dried out pork, ordered a large chicken salad and got lettuce that was brown and dried out chicken on it with no other items because menu said egg, tomatoes etc. wait staff were rude when we mentioned our concerns. One person ordered cup of soup got charged for a bowl. No adjustments were made on the bill and staff just did't care, the table that just sat down across from us heard our issues and luckily they decided to leave and go somewhere else. Pretty good place. Good variety and moderately priced. Good portions and friendly staff. Frequently have to ask for refills on my pop. Seems the wait staff doesn't come and check if you need anything often enough. Have had a couple of my takeout orders incomplete as well and have had to explain to the waitress on the phone what a loose burger is and still got my order wrong it's on the Menu. The food tastes good though. They now serve Alcohol. It doesn't compare as a coney island compared to Lafayette, American, National, and Leo's in my opinion or even Benny's locally. On a side note, no one wants green peppers in their loose burgers. No Coney Islands serve them that way, I have been to tons of coney's and have never got them that way. Just at Monroe Grill. I know they close at 8 pm. I called my pickup in at 725 pm. They call me at 740 pm asking where I'm at because they close soon. I told them I was on my way and be there within 10 minutes. I got there to pick up my food and I mentioned to cashier that I know what time you close and there was plenty of time so don't call and see how much longer I'm going to be. She said well I always do that when it's getting close to quitting time. I do not take it as a kind gesture. I took it as hurry up so we can get out of here. You are no longer allowed to vape in the restaurant at all or even at the bar counter like in past and you are not even allowed to vape in their bar next door! read more

Note - the rating is based on a comparison to other similar restaurants. Huge menu and quite a few daily specials. Lemon rice soup is often of the special list and is very good! My fav here is the city chicken - I would like to say it's just like mom makes but it's not.,,thankfully! Unlike mom's, this city chicken is very moist and had a wonderful gravy over it. This is the way that city chicken should be done! I also had the chicken parm one evening and really enjoyed that too! It was enough for a few meals for me (I don't eat much as I had bariatric surgery). However normal sized tummies can prolly get two meals out of it as well. read more

Took my family here for dinner and my daughter who ordered the fish and some in law who ordered the spinach pie . Both were not edible . When we tried to speak with the manager she argued with my daughter about how great the fish was . Instead of apologizing for the issues with there food . It honestly was the worst experience we have had a resultant in YEARS!!! I would NEVER EVER Recommend this place to anyone . As we were leaving i walked past the manager talking about my family . Monroe county jail serves better food..this is the first I've eaten of the dinner portion of the menu Breakfast was always decent! I will not return for a dinner, I ordered meatloaf I received some type of dried out slices which were orange around the edges smothered in gravy with a foul after taste. My side salad was good tho... my boyfriend ordered hot turkey sandwich 1 piece of turkey and a yellow gravy mustard yellow, he ate 3 bites and we paid our bill and left... My BF and I ordered carry out. I had the Philly Steak Sub and it was delicious! Fries are cooked just right. My BF had a burger, it wasn't anything to brag about but it was really good. If the burger was a hand patty burger and cooked to order I would have given this place 5 stars. I can't wait to try more items on the menu! So far I love the food here! Was busy for lunch today, so I figured it must be good. Got seated right away, and was met quickly with our drink order. Scanning the other tables I noticed they do not clean properly. When a table left, the busboy wiped 1/3 of the table and re-organized the table. This happened several times. Hold old was that towel water? Was it bleach water, or right out of the sink? No cleaning spray used at all, so this will haunt me all day. Food... We ordered a Gyro sandwich with Greek salad, Fish & Chips with side salad, and a Taco Salad. The side salad was 4 leaves of iceberg broken up by a third grader and a cup of dressing; nothing else in the salad! The Greek salad was good, but the dressing is missing some zing. Gyro was decent, the meat was cut into 1/2" squares (which was weird) with tomatoes and onion and there was no lettuce on the sandwich. Fish & Chips was fresh and great. Fries were good too. Advertised "with bread basket" but never saw any bread. Taco Salad came in a fresh fried tortilla bowl and the same iceberg from that 3rd grader. Good seasoned meat and extras in the salad. The salsa is not good... it's like crushed tomatoes with no heat whatsoever. Overall decent experience, but the cleanliness really bothered me. read more

I've had Monroe Grill a few more times since my initial review, so it's time for an update and it's not positive. First, I had biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were tiny... I was expecting four nice-sized biscuits and instead I received four very flat and cakey biscuits. They seemed to be frozen biscuits that were cut in half, so really it was just two. Or perhaps they were four, but not properly cooked. In any case, they were not good. The gravy was dumped on so heavy they were drowning. I'm all for a lot of gravy, but not to where there was enough for four or five times the amount of biscuits I received. Second, there was my club sandwich. The turkey on it was thick chunks of turkey, in some cases nearly an inch thick, and not properly covering the bread. There was no way to eat this sandwich like a sandwich. Turkey on a sandwich needs to be sliced and stacked, not thick chunks. There was almost no mayo. Maybe that's to make it more healthy? I'm not sure but I certainly didn't enjoy it. I might give Monroe Grill another go to try a more dinner-like food, but they are quickly losing my interest. read more

This our favorite place. Breakfasts are good with fast service. Their dinners are very good, large portions and fast friendly service. We have never had a bad meal between breakfast, lunch and dinners. If your lucky, the owner will come and greet you and ask about your experience. read more

Had to ask for silverware twice before we finally received it after our meal came, same with the couple next to us. My husband, sister, brother in law and I had dinner at Monroe grill on July 7th 2016. Very disappointing. Salad was a handful of lettuce thrown on dish, 1 cucumber and what might have been a chunk of tomato, I really am not sure. Shrimp that was obvious processed and frozen, probably bought from Gordon's. My salmon was not done and I think they need a cookbook on how to cook green beans. They were completely limp and tasteless. Bread basket, what a joke. Slices of white bread. Waitress not at all friendly and rushed us. There were plenty of tables empty. Evidently if you eat there once,you do not return. I would never eat there again. If I could give it a zero rating I would. I do not see a future for this restaurant in Monroe. read more

One of our favorite restaurants to frequent. I judge good Greek by their Greek dressing and this is the real deal. I love their Chicken Greek salad and their Vegetable Lasagna is excellent! My husband goes between breakfast offerings and traditional dinner fare and he likes them equally as much. You either have a hearty appetite for plan on taking home a doggie bag...the portions are huge. Oh and their garlic rolls are fabulous! Staff is great. Seemed like prices were good til the meal arrived. The 12 Oz sirloin was a hamburger patty and 6oz at the most. The salad never came. As we were leaving they asked us if we wanted the salad to go.
