As first timers, our waitress was quick to point out the menu was 'wack' and it took us a minute to understand what she meant. But quickly it became clear what she meant. The menu was designed by a crazy person. Once we got our order in, and started glancing around, I'll admit, I got a little worried. To say this restaurant is grimy would be an understatement. Everything is sticky and a little worn out, and with a ton of TVs all broadcasting sports, while bad grunge music playing in the background... let's just say we won't be back for the vibes. But the food? Honestly it's pretty solid for bar food. Sure, there are salads - and yes, the Paddy's Salad is 1000% a direct rip-off of Grumpy's garbage salad, oddly minus croutons and served with a not quite right creamy poppy seed - but the star of the show is also the main attraction - grilled cheeses! Today I tried the "Popper Melt" which tasted *nothing* like the name would imply. Imagine instead of jalapeño poppers jammed into a sandwiched, a chopped salad of deep fried slices of jalapeño, mixed up with cream cheese and bacon was smashed between two slices of greasy, griddled bread. Absolutely zero spice, but it was delicious. A refresh of the interior, a slight rethink of the menu, and an adjustment on the entertainment would make this a really amazing option. And I suspect if I still drank alcohol, I'd be back often - but for now, when we're in the area and hankering for some heavy food, we'll stop by. But this is definitely not a restaurant we'd go out of our way for. read more

Had a terrible experience Saturday. Went there to celebrate multiple birthdays. Our waitress was pushy and removed plates with food people were still eating from. She also took a water from one personand gave it to anotherbecause she felt they weren't drinking it. Then, had the audacity to tell us about tipping her over the required 18%. Paddy Jack's is a bar and sandwich restaurant which up till now I had never tried. I went to visit during happy hour with 4 of my friends and they recommended I try the Pepper Jack sandwich since I am a fan of pepperjack cheese. We also ordered 3 appetizers which included their fried pickles, jalapeno poppers and the pepper jack cheese cubes. All the appetizers came out relatively fast but our waitress didn't give us any silverware or napkins and didn't come check on us for several minutes. Finally we got sick of waiting and I just got up and went to the register to get us some.... The service was pretty much the only problem I had here because despite it being happy hour they were dead which should of meant we could have had a lot more concise service but that just didn't happen throughout the entire meal. I may return if the service improves; the food is very delicious. read more

I went for the first time and their options for grilled cheese were endless. We ended up getting the jalapeño poppers which tasted fresh and crispy. The portobello sandwich was very heavy on the goat cheese and the mushrooms and onions were caramelized well. The pepper jack was more of a typical grilled cheese. Regular sports bar feel... tvs everywhere and the waitresses all wear skin tight clothing for the drunks to oogle. I had the Loco Jack, a self proclaimed "local favorite"... it's a grilled cheese with smoked turkey, doritos, and "special sauce". I was disappointed at best. It was fine, but nothing special. The "special sauce" is undetectable, the doritos go limp, and the turkey is simply filler. The never-ending fries are really good, crispy outside and soft inside. If only they didn't take 20 minutes between refills... during off-peak hours and only 1/3 of the seats were filled. The waitresses are all very cordial and helpful. read more

Where should I start? At the beginning I suppose. When I was but a wee lad I loved cheese. Couldn't get enough of it. I swear when I was 4 years old my mom caught me sneaking into the kitchen to snack on some cheese. Boy, was she mad. She told me I was a disappointment and if she knew I was going to turn out to be a "cheese-eating crybaby" she would have just kept drinking (alcohol) while she was pregnant. Well since I was only 4 I didn't really understand anything she was saying so I just kept picking my nose. Anyways ever since that day I've just been crazy about cheese. I love it so much I've learned to say cheese in 2 foreign languages. In Spanish they say queso. Its such a fun way to say cheese! In French they say formaldehyde. The French sure have a beautiful accent! Anywho, I've tried lots of different cheeses. My favorite is probably cottage cheese. Just kidding, cottage cheese is a joke and anyone that denies it is a filthy communist. The best cheese is definitely cheddar. Its so good, you guys! It comes in white OR yellow, and sometimes they say its sharp. Don't worry, it won't cut your mouth! So as I was saying, big cheese fan here! Just love it. One day I was a little bored so I decided to go for a drive. I drove and drove and drove, probably the longest anyone has ever driven before! I was on this country road when out of nowhere I see a sign saying "Welcome to Michigan". Oh my gosh. I've never left the great state of Ohio (Go Bucks!). I had so many concerns racing through my head. 1. Am I even allowed to drive in the state of Michigan since my drivers license is from Ohio? 2. If I am allowed to drive do I have to go straight to the DMV to register my car? 3. I'm starving, where can I get some snacks?  I immediately pulled over into the parking lot of a nice looking building. I went inside and they asked for my ID. Boy what kind of convenience store is this? I guess Michigan just does things a little differently. I went inside and they had a bunch of really small salads that smelled really skunky!  That lettuce must have really been old because I could still smell it even though it was in a glass case. I gave up hope of getting a snack until I saw a whole wall full of gummy snacks! These were some real exotic, gourmet looking treats. I bought a bag of some gummy snacks and thought I was overcharged. Most expensive bag of gummy bears I've ever bought! The nice cashier named Bud Tender (at least thats what his shirt said) told me it was a good deal. I got back in my car and ate 7 or 8 of those gummy treats and you know what, they were pretty tasty! I decided since I had my snack I should go to Toledo and get a proper meal. As soon as I got to Toledo I started to feel really funny, like when I used to sneak some of my grandpa's special tea he kept hidden in the garage. Anyways I saw a restaurant called Patty Jack's and thought well gotta eat somewhere, am I right? I went inside and found a nice table. By this point I was getting SO hungry. The wonderful waitress brought me a menu and boy was this the place for me! Its ALL KINDS OF SANDWICHES BASED ON GRILLED CHEESE! I ordered a Philadelphia style cheese steak. The waitress said what kind of bread do you want? Guys they have bread made with cheese! Asiago cheese bread. Oh my gosh, it was great! They also offer free refills on fries. FREE FRIES! I still felt weird so I decided to eat more fries. I must have had 8 refills. The manager finally came out and said I set the record, and could I please stop eating fries! I dont know why I was so dang hungry. They were playing really amazing music. Really edgy, yet sensitive, alternative rock from the early 2000's. I dont usually enjoy it but boy was I loving it. I just felt so good all over. I dont know what happened next but i woke up in Minnesota! Anyways, this restaurant is great. Great food, prices, and service! read more

Hits: The food was excellent. It's an open style kitchen so you can see the food prep, which is cool, and it was clear to me the cooks cared about their work. The fries are very good so I suggest sticking with fries rather than upgrading to salad or tater tots. We also had a great waitress. Very friendly and good at her job. And for the sports lovers, there are TVs everywhere. Misses: The menus definitely needed to be wiped down. Not a huge deal but it qualifies as a miss. And as an advocate for women's rights and women's equality, especially in the workplace, I'm not a huge fan of the plaid skirt uniforms the girls have to wear. They all looked beautiful and everything, it's just my personal opinion and I hope they get a choice between the skirt and pants or something. Wow wow wow, is all I can say! Food is amazing, comes out quick and hot but honestly the food can be great anywhere but without great service it doesn't matter. They are so lucky to have Karissa! She was literally the only server/ bartender and she rocks this place like a boss. Perfect personality, exceptional service.. she even had the personal touch of saying hello to her regulars by name as they walked in. You've got one amazing employee and should consider yourselves lucky. Good service is hard to find and what we experienced today is the best! Please give her the biggest raise and a promotion! Service was very, v e r y slow - that's the only downside - it was packed when we were there, though so I can overlook it this time. Came here with the whole family and none of us left hungry or disappointed. My son doesn't like grilled cheese but we figured he'd find something on the kids menu he liked....... he didn't...... BUT they put together a Paddy burger minus the cheese for him and he was thrilled. If you enjoy eating here, you either: are just discovering what food is and what food tastes like, you don't get out much, or you are a prepubescent boy who is enamored by the sleazy waitresses in low cut tops and Catholic schoolgirl skirts. The girlfriend and I thought it would be interesting to see what all the hype about Paddy Jack's was, so we decided to go for lunch one afternoon. We still aren't really sure what the hype is all about. Since I already brought it up, I'll start with the atmosphere. It can be summarized by simply saying it's a typical dive bar setting with some fresh paint on the walls that tries to class it up a little bit, but fails miserably. Don't get me wrong. I am in no way whatsoever one of those religious freaks who is appalled by a short skirt, nor was I embarrassed to be at PJ's with my girlfriend, or anything like that. I just don't find sluttiness to be necessary for this type of place in any way. Plus, the waitresses I saw were not attractive in the slightest for this type of appearance. If you have to go to a sandwich place to get your rocks off, there's something wrong with you. It just seems weird and out of place at PJ's. Every town has its awkward Hooters wannabe spot and this is it. That's my two cents. If you've been trapped in Toledo all your life, I'm sure this food seems good to you. I've stumbled into legitimately executed sandwich places all over the country. This isn't one of them. There are lots of sandwich places in the world, and Paddy Jack's ranks right in the uncreative zone. There are a few bread options, but nothing to get excited about. Each sandwich is the same template of super thick sliced bread, with a slice or two of melted cheese, and about 4 slices of meat in between. Their fries are obviously store brand, frozen, crinkle cut fries. There are supposedly free refills on drinks, but I never got one. I ordered their reuben, fries, and an iced tea. Add tax and tip onto that, and you're gonna have to shell out about $16 of your hard-earned dollars, which will leave you guessing what the eff cost that much money. Boring, typical, overpriced lunch spot. I'll give it two stars since it wasn't a total disaster. read more

I was excited to see a new restaurant in Sylvania that promised a grilled cheese theme and great beer selection. It sounded like they're trying to imitate Melt in Cleveland (Lakewood), which would be a good thing. The food was actually good - good enough that I'll come back despite the atmosphere. The "worldwide beer selection" was mediocre at best, but they did have 21st Amendment on tap which is a plus in my book. The atmosphere was awful in my opinion. Horribly bad pop music played at a level that made talking difficult. TV's were literally everywhere. The decor was cheesy (no pun intended) and didn't fit with irish theme, with a back bar that would look more appropriate in a strip club. The owners clearly want this place to be considered a bar before a restaurant, which is unfortunate because I wouldn't come back at night. This place is nothing like Melt but it's decent enough that I'll come back since it's close. read more

Went in here for a drink at the end of the night. Prices were reasonable and the place was clean. That's everything good I can say. The bartender tried to charge me for a beer I never ordered or received ("I just bought two beers, one each for me and my girlfriend. We just drank them right in front of you."), then tried to convince me that she somehow remembered me ordering it and that I should pay ("No, you ordered a third beer for somebody; who was it?"), and then gave me dirty looks the rest of the time I was in there. I've had bartenders try to pull that scam on me before -- if somebody looks drunk enough to not notice, charge them for an extra drink or two and pocket the cash. Sorry, not falling for it. That, and the many TVs all looked regular definition, so don't bother going there to watch a game. As far as sports bars go, you can do much better. read more

I went to Paddy Jack's with my family a couple of weeks ago, because we all love grilled cheese. And, really, who doesn't? If you say you don't, then you must be lying, crazy, or in denial. Anyway, we all loved our sandwiches and fries. I got the blue cheese burger grilled cheese. It was creamy and delicious. I don't remember the name of the sandwich that my wife ordered, but it had pulled pork and mac & cheese on it. This sandwich may have been even better than the one I ordered. I will say one "negative" thing: I am glad that we went during lunch time. This place is definitely focused on being a bar rather than a restaurant that serves a few different beers and drinks. Also, the waitresses wear outfits somewhat like the Hooters girls wear. This doesn't bother me (and the service was great), but I think people should be aware of this before they bring their children here for a grilled cheese indulgence on a Friday or Saturday night. Went to Paddy Jacks (a new grilled cheese resteraunt in Sylvania) today. and . . . 1. It pretended to have an Irish theme, being Irish, it was tacky at best, bordeline offensive at worst (I hate that) The name of the placed was branded using an Asian inspired font ( I Hate bad fonts even more) 2. The food was lousy, tell how do you screw up grilled cheese? mine had avacado's that had the same consistency as uncooked potatoes. 3.The wait staff dressed like Irish school girl hookers on purpose no less. It did not offend me, but would not take kids there or a date. 4.The manager/Madame was wearing a white button down shirt as a dress. 5.There was hip hop music playing? I thought this was an Irish theme? 6. Finally, my 4yr old complained that her grilled cheese did not taste right! If you cant make a 4yr old happy with grilled cheese then . . . welll . . . Oh and my wife would like it mentioned that she thinks there may have been to stripper poles located in front of the kitchen area and thier seemed to be a strip club bar as well? $2 Miller light bottle, paddy melt-o-rama... stopped in before the Toledo Mud Hens (Detroit Tigers farm team) game. Had a little weird thing where the Miller lite bottle I started to drink got chipped in the popping somehow and I almost swallowed the shard thinking it was a sliver of ice... but, whew, thank God I grabbed it in my teeth as it was about to go down and saw what it was. When I took it back to the bartender for a new one she said: "How did YOU do that?!" Right. Funny. But, disaster averted, the paddy melt was delicious. Really cheesy and yummy. Open kitchen. Super cute servers in plaid skirts (when is that ever a bad thing?), lots of TV screens for sports and booths for people who wanted to get some privacy. Miles of parking and, if you really want to get ridiculous, the Waffle House is right next door for desert. I would definitely hit up this place again before a Hens game. read more

Really enjoyed this place, I've been a couple times now. The cowboy burger was amazing, as well as their eggplant sandwiches. The adult grilled cheese idea is pretty ingenious, every time I've been the food has been excellent. This is fun if you are looking to go to a bar and have a tasty grilled cheese, not gourmet, not quiet. The last time I went, there were guys at the table behind us that kept hitting on a friend of mine and had obviously been drinking for a while.
