We love R Diner. Have I really never wrote a review here before? Been coming here for years and haven't ever really had a bad experience. The staff and management are great! Friendly, helpful and some are even like family at this point. We love Terri! We always hope to have her as our waitress when we visit. She adores my son and I adore her for it. She actually remembered his birthday last year and gave him cash from her apron. The coffee is always hot and someone is always coming by if you need a refill. I ordered 2 eggs, hashbrowns and toast on my last visit and it's plenty of food! Red hot is already on the table so you don't need to ask for it. My son is simple and gets his chicken and waffles plain. I think ordinarily they come with gravy on them? They open at 7am on Friday, so when we go there it wasn't very busy. Only a handful of booths were filled with regulars - older folks dining alone or with friend's gossiping about the news and things going on in their lives. Pretty chill and lowkey. Music is always random too but it's never anything that bothers me or that I don't like so that's a bonus. read more

What a cute little hometown diner - you walk in and you feel transported to home. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable about the menu. The portions were all huge and the prices were relativley cheap! I got the turkey dinner plate with chicken and dumpling soup - it was delicious! The soup was the star of the show! Decided to grab a late lunch at 2:30 pm on a Friday at the parking lot was full! Got seated quickly. First time ever trying R Diners as a recommendation from a friend. (Thanks Brian!!) TAKE OUT: Piping hot. Ready when promised and the restaurant was standing only. Line out the door. Not a single open table. Lots of smiling faces in front and behind the counter. The place appeared clean and inviting. The service was busy busy and still very joyful and polite. I ordered the French toast (4) with sausage links and eggs. The French toast was tasty but because they were packed, it's reasonable the cook rushed the egg wash soak before cooking. But when using thick Texas toast, if you don't allow a moment for the bread to soak up the egg wash then you'll end up with some dry French toast pieces. A few were just that but-- I'm not complaining because this place was JAMMED PACKED! It was still pretty good. The 3 sausage links, unlike all the other restaurants around, these were Huge! Not those pinky finger sized links but big round fat and juicy sausage links. Delicious. 3 eggs over hard arrived as one giant egg with 3 yolks. A big ole pancake sized egg. lol. It was cooked well done as I asked with a little too much of the brown crust on the whites. But still yummy and I'm still not complaining. I just prefer less of that browning. It's simply from an overheated grill (too hot singed the egg whites) so No big deal. I'd rather be over done than underdone. Still very good and flavorful with a little sale n pepper. And last but not least: fried breaded dill pickle spears with generous amount of ranch. While I prefer a batter dipped fried pickle over breaded, these were AMAZING! Cooked to perfection. No hint of frozen taste. They tasted homemade! The ranch dressing dip is what we call the "good ranch" you can't find at the stores. The homemade stuff that elevates you 3 inches off the ground because it's so good. Prices were reasonable, the portions filling with left overs for lunch . The meals included generous amounts of dipping sauce, syrup and butter in my to-go without asking for more. This is my new favorite place to go for diner foods and by the overflowing parking lot, looks like I'm not alone. This is hands down 1000x better than anything I've ever ordered at Leo's Coney. Totally worth the extra few minutes to head over to R Diner and skip Leo's all together. read more

Service is always excellent - always greeted with a smile and friendliness - restaurant is always kept clean - table turn is quick even during busy times - good delivery is always within 5-19 mins after ordering without fail - quality if food and ingredients are always top notch - with typical diner fashion quantity of food for the price is always very high - perch was well cooked with juicy flavor taste good hot or cold, tarter sauce has good depth and flavor not your typical bland sauce - omelette was not as juicy as previous ones I've had here but the way it's cooked the ingredients cooked within the eggs is a unique style I've not seen at other places with the cheese folded in the middle, fresh shredded cheese not the bland tasteless sliced cheese used most every other diner a welcome distinction - the ham is sliced deli ham rather than the desired "real" ham cubbed but still good flavor, sausage appears to be a good tasting juicy flavor links cubbed, and bacon is a nice juicy well cooked variation chopped up all together in great quantity providing a quality meat omelette taste with every bite - never just eggs alone either these guys - the potato hash browns in typical diner fashion well cooked and juicy enough flavor profile - the coffee is good here not acidic tasting but also not a unique deep rich coffee I'd wish any great diner like this would consider serving - all in all you can never go wrong when choosing this diner for your finning experience whether it's breakfast, lunch, or diner you will always enjoy a great meal and terrific atmosphere with exceptional service - Bon appetite!! read more

Took my Mom here this afternoon for brunch. She got the coney combo and I had the grilled chicken salad. I also ordered the stuffed cabbage soup. The food was tasty and the soup was wonderful. I ended up getting an order of the soup to go. Soups are homemade! The salad was good. The chicken breast was a bit flat and dry. The seasoning was good though. The service was great! Very attentive and helpful. They have a typical diner atmosphere here with booths and tables. They were really busy but the wait wasn't bad. Eggs were cooked perfectly sunny side up. Nice unbroken yolks perfect for dipping. Pancakes were huge and three came in the order. Very fluffy and a little sweet. My friend ordered the steak and eggs which included hash browns and toast. His steak was cooked exactly as he likes, medium well. Tons of hash browns. His three eggs were also cooked to a sunny side perfection, perfect for the toast. Wait staff was all very nice. We had a slightly long wait for a table but the servers kept checking on us. Our table had the beef ravioli, Ruben, chicken schwarma wrap. I tasted each of these and all were super yummy. However, the best part of the meal was the chicken noodle soup which was my absolute favorite I've ever had and the ham and bean soup amazing!! Definitely check this place out! Going to Toledo from Detroit, needed a place to eat. A quit web check found this place. It was crowded when we got there. The menu is extensive. I had the Rueben sandwich with fries. The Reuben samminch was great, tons of meat and kraut. The bread was nicely toasted, but wasn't dry at all. The fries were the ultimate. Very crispy outside with pillowy tater underneath. I put some ketchup on the plate, but didn't even use it. They almost seems like they had a batter on them, but I don't think so. Good prices, great service. We were there past closing time and didn't realize it. Who looks at the hours if the door is open? They never said one thing to us to get our butts outta there. We went to Monroe, Michigan for a wedding. The morning after we wanted a great breakfast, and that's when we found R Diner. I'm glad we did. We walked in and were quickly greeted. We were allowed to sit at any open table, which was great. The server was very friendly and very prompt. She had my coffee to me lickety-split. And kept it full! I was blown away by the portions. I forget the name of the breakfast I enjoyed, but it came with a little bit of everything. It was huge, it was delicious, and it only cost $10.99. You couldn't get half of that for 11 bucks in Las Vegas. My wife had the nachos. She did have kitchen hold the meat...yes, I think that's crazy too. The nachos were very good. They melted actual cheese on the chips versus drowning them in nacho cheese. My wife really enjoyed it. We were very happy with the look and cleanliness of the restaurant, the quality and pricing of the food, and the friendliness and service of the staff. The soup was flavorful and the bowl was really good with fresh veggies, salad and homemade tzatziki sauce that came with it. You could also choose garlic sauce or hummus with the bowl. I am a big fan of Greek salads, okay? I just can't not order it when I see it on the menu. Don't question me, it's a rule I live by at this point in life. I saw it on the menu here the first time I visited and it's what I order every time still. First off, this thing is huge. Very fulfilling. No cutting is required for the items in this salad, unlike many other restaurants. I can just dig in. I like that. Also the chicken was DELICIOUS and a nice portion for the additional cost! The pita bread it came with was a little toasted and I like to fill them with the chicken. Perfect combination with the dressing. Omg. I also love the fries here. Just can't go wrong with them. I'm a simple person, I know what I like. And it's the Greek salad with shawarma chicken and a side of fries at R Diner. Also the ladies who work here are just the nicest people. They are always so busy when I go, but despite that they are working so hard to keep up and be kind in the meanwhile.
