Beef cabbage soup. Excellent!
Andrew M.

No need to wait for Thanksgiving for a fantastic turkey dinner! Roasted turkey (white and dark meat), mashed potatoes & gravy, dressing, corn and a slice of cranberry roll, as it should be (Friday and Sunday special as of 8.30.24). And started with a phenomenal cup of clam chowder soup! Outstanding!

South Rockwood has 1 bank, 1 gas station, a post office and the wonderful Dixie Cafe. I've been frequenting this place since I was a little kid. They have the best home cooked meals next to your Grandma's cooking. I've never had a bad meal here. They always have daily specials. On Thursday they have a Polish plate and it's amazing. They make their own cabbage-kraut too. I just had breakfast with my boyfriend here this morning, and he had the cinnamon roll pancakes with a side of hash browns and I had the veggie omelette with hash browns and rye toast. It's the best veggie omelette I've ever had in my life! They even put broccoli in it! Their coffee is delicious too. All of the waitresses are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is laid back with lots of regulars. You should eat here.

Mexican omelette and hashbrowns. Big breakfast with half order of pancakes

We have lived in the area for almost three years and kicking ourselves for not visiting sooner! Excellent food and service. Will be back again very soon.

We LOVE "mom & pop diners" vs going to chain restaurants. I read reviews that were great. We headed there for lunch after walking a few miles at the Detroit International Wildlife Refuge (it was really muddy). It was busy so it took a bit for the food to get to us - no biggie. We got an omelet with pancakes and wheat toast; and the big breakfast with American fries (after seeing all the reviews about getting them). Everything was very good. The waitress was great! We had drink refills prompt, she was friendly, and even brought us cups to take a refill to go! They also had a lot of to-go orders happening. I'm sure we'll be back at the Refuge soon and will stop here again!!

Baby Greek and chicken gyro.

A diner with happy employees and good service. Several specials and breakfast served all day. Fair and reasonable prices. Large and good portions sizes. I ordered baby Greek salad with chicken gyro. Make your own omelet, Philly cheese steak and beef gyro also ordered , Nothing fancy, just plain and simple.

Custom omelet. Two meals in one. Delicious.

LARGE PORTIONS and DELICIOUS FOOD. Omelet and hash browns is enough for two meals. Club was good - ordered it for lunch, but toast with Mayo on it doesn't travel, so I took apart and will toast some bread later and build. Perfect PRESENTATION. Glad they reopened and I will make it a frequent trip to support them. They have a nice wide variety menu.

Very berry french toast

Oh Happy day, this place closed months ago and was put up for sale. This great Greek family just reopened Monday, we had to visit. Yes same family, Ma & Pa with the daughter welcome all those long time customers with a smile. Thanks Sidney our superstar waitress, you a keeper. Check they Facebook page everyday for Specials. Had a outstanding sandwich named the Smokestack OMG. Corned Beef, Ham n Turkey on Toasted thick Greek Bread with Cheese and sauce. A true gut stuffer, could barely finish it. She had the half Deep Fried Chicken spot on delicious. Marvelous Bean n Ham Soup made in house. This folks a Downriver Gem , place been a restaurant over 80 years with different names. Easy to find just a hundred yards off I-75 the Rockwood exit. Spotless clean everything and friendly staff, a must visit. Support local small Ma n Pa business, I also have how about you?? #dixiecafe #rockwoodmi #greekdiner #familyrestaurant #greatfood #downriverclassic #downriverfriendseat

Best southern omelettes around! Highly recommend them - they set the bar for all others.

I've overpaid for a bad meal before, but this is beyond anything I've ever experienced…read more I was invited to join friends for an Easter buffet here. Nothing prepared me for what happened. No signage mentioned any pricing, but I was completely blindsided by the charge. Even half would have been too much for what was offered. Probably half the food was breakfast stuff (at 5pm), arguably because pancakes and waffles are cheap and the other half was probably Golden Corral-level food in chaffing trays. No carving station. Ham, a pasta dish, and very dry bony chicken were the main courses. When I got the bill--attached, for $65-before tip! I almost fell over. Flemming's prices, not quite Golden Corral quality and selection. I get it was a holiday, but come on now! I've paid less for high end buffets at casinos. I can't imagine ever going back but if I can save one person from being gouged and exploited like this, I'll be happy.

Over the years, I've tried many things on the menu, but I consistently go back for their ribs, wood-fired pizza, and filet mignon--all are top-tier and cooked to perfection. If you are looking for a place for holiday celebrations, their Easter and Mother's Day brunches are truly top-notch and a family tradition for us. Pro tip: Definitely join their rewards program. One of the best perks is getting your age as a percentage off your meal for your birthday, which is easily one of the best deals around. Highly recommend!

If you're ok with hit or miss food quality-- this is your place. If you're ok with shady business…read morereputation or massive cost cutting-- this is your place. If you can tolerate rude owners and shady customer service then you'll love it here. READ THE REVIEWS. Some of the food is ok then you get something like THIS! See photo. That's SUPPOSED to be an order of hummus appetizer . They took it as a hummus SUGGESTION. I got home, opened this and broke out laughing. No bread to be found. I got my measuring spoons out and recorded 2 tsp of hummus. A handful of vegetables (for what?!) and they call this a $7 appetizer? I call it a blatant rip off. The cook knew this was a joke and sent it out anyway. HE KNEW! Bottom line: they don't care. The BLT tasted like they dipped the bacon strips in liquid smoke. Very unpleasant flavor. And I love bacon. I asked for mayo on the side and got sour cream. Another time ordered bacon skins. The bacon on the potato skins tasted fine. So not sure was going on there. Menu says comes with sour cream. Not this time. Had to eat them dry. They don't care. Ordered cheese quesadilla. Got home and had to throw it away. The tortilla was not browned at all. It was totally stuffed to the brim with raw onion and raw green pepper. (That's wasn't on the menu. It simply said cheese quesadilla) And it's gross. Plus an orange blob of unidentified cheese. No salsa. But this time I got the sour cream! Then these folks wonder why I don't tip online. Because you never get it right!! You're rolling dice ordering take out here. But I'm done.
