And I love bacon. I asked for mayo on the side and got sour cream. Another time ordered bacon skins. The bacon on the potato skins tasted fine. So not sure was going on there. Menu says comes with sour cream. Not this time. Had to eat them dry. They don't care. Ordered cheese quesadilla. Got home and had to throw it away. The tortilla was not browned at all. It was totally stuffed to the brim with raw onion and raw green pepper. (That's wasn't on the menu. It simply said cheese quesadilla) And it's gross. Plus an orange blob of unidentified cheese. So I gave Flatrock Leo's another shot but sadly I was very disappointed. The bathroom was filthy. There was a bad ring in the toilet and all the touch surfaces were obviously dirty. My feet were sticking to the floor. I ordered chicken fingers which were good but the fries were terrible. They tasted old not even ketchup or ranch would help. My daughter had fish and chips. Her fries were bad too. The coleslaw was like liquid. The coffee tasted old or burnt. We did have a slice of their pumpkin roll which was good. The staff was friendly and did a good job overall. Good location in the middle of a shopping area. We ordered carry out. Girl in charge of carry out was very busy flirting with the cook, but whatever, do what ya gotta do, girl. The famous Greek salad had a lot of feta, tomatoes looked great, more than one pepperoncini (the green yellow peppers, yes, usually I only find ONE) the gyro meat was a little dry, but I didn't care since I put dressing on anyway. The black olives had pits, my fault for diving in too fast. Waffle fries were regular. BLT was delicious, good amount of bacon. The food itself was good but the service was horrible (We dined in at 7pm January 20). I ordered soup and didn't receive it until we were totally done with our dinners and I reminded the waitress. My son ordered dessert, granted it was a free dessert, he got his hopes up, we waited another 30 minutes sitting there with an empty table and we had to leave. We were there for well over an hour and a half and were never checked on while eating and spent our entire visit watching the staff chat in the back or sitting in a booth talking. Our waitress was nice when she took our food order, but after the food was set on the table - the food we did get - good service stopped...actually, all of the service stopped. Again this is your typical Coney Island place. My food was prepared correctly and out in a timely matter. Thank you to my waitress Lindsey. One of the strengths of Yelp is that all kinds of restaurants are reviewed, not just the upscale or expensive ones. In Michigan, Coney Island restaurants provide basic food and good value. The Leo's chain (which has both franchisees and corporate stores) is known for consistently solid food. This one is Flat Rock is a cut above. I have been here for breakfast, a quick lunch and dinner. The food is very good and they have excellent specials tailored to their clientele. Service is also good. However, what makes this place special in my view is hands on and friendly management. Every time I have been this restaurant, a manager has asked me how things were and actually cared about my response. She had made sure that her staff is responsive to customers. I also think that managers/owners that read yelp comments and respond show that the customers' experience is very important. Leo's Coney Island When I arrived there were approximately 20 customers on a Saturday morning around 9:00. There seemed to be an appropriate number of workers. Service was great, there was no waiting for a seat or a server as the staff was very attentive. Employees were all neat in appearance. My meal arrived in around 15 minutes. I was asked about my meal and coffee was offered to be refreshed/refilled three times. The food was appetizingly arranged on my plate. The eggs were perfectly cooked as ordered (over-medium). Hash browns crispy on the outside yet fluffy in the middle with no residual grease. Ham perfectly heated through with slight browning from the grill. Choice of wheat toast (rye & white also available) was perfectly toasted and the butter reached to all edges. Coffee was average. Restroom was clean Atmosphere Leo's is located in mini strip mall on the corner of Telegraph and Vreeland. An adequate number of tables/booths; everything is shiny and new for the time being. Brunch today at Leo's Coney Island on Telegraph Rd. in Flat Rock, MI. I selected a Blueberry Waffle and Bacon with Coffee and an Apple Juice while my wife opted for the Western Omelet, Home Fried Potatoes, and an English Muffin and Coffee. Our server was "Annie" and she was superb; friendly, attentive, very professional, and efficient. The food came without any undue delay and was outstanding. My waffle was done perfectly, crispy on the edges, fluffy and tender inside with blueberries liberally sprinkled on the top, and of course with butter and maple syrup added. My bacon was also done to perfection, crispy but not over done, and not greasy, and a more than adequate portion. The apple juice was a large, chilled, and was a nice accompanying flavor to the waffle and bacon, and the coffee was some of the best ever. My wife's omelet was also done perfectly, and she drizzled a bit of hot sauce over the top for that xtra little bit of flavor and "zing" we love on our eggs, and the potatoes were heaven on a plate. All in all just a great dining experience with great food, great service, and a more than reasonable price, but then we have come to expect nothing less from Leo's since we have been going there a lot over the years, and have yet to be disappointed. Had to at least give it 1 star. Somehow my previous review was deleted. So I will repost and contact YELP to find out how this happened. But I would never return to this restaurant. They charge for condiments. This was not the fault of the waitress, but when I requested whipped cream for my sons pancakes the server came back and said the OWNER said there is a charge for whipped cream in lieu of syrup. At this point I have no choice but to accept the additional fee so we can continue on with our meal. But the small squirt squirt of whipped cream was ridiculous since I was already paying extra for it. So we requested more. So the OWNER charged us a 2nd time. NEVER have I been charged for condiments until I visited Leo's Coney Island in Flat Rock. read more

Thank god Leo's opened on our side of town now , we always dined at a Leo's by our old house it was our go to coney joint .... Went in to pick up our carry out for first time in this location service was very apologetic for making us wait an extra 5 minutes for our food , but upon getting it home it was well worth the wait we ordered chopped steak with extra mushroom and mashed potatoes , upon opening up carry out container it was loaded with fresh mushrooms and onion (+1 ) it had a side of veggies which were never mentioned when ordered (+2) the salad that came with it was delicious for a side salad , Mac n cheese ordered for kids was homemade and delicious and a huge portion compared to any other places , my kids loved it .... On to dessert we got the rice pudding , it was a touch watery but had the best flavor of any rice pudding I've had in a long time . I am back to making Leo's my go to coney place . We love Leo's for breakfast and when I want breakfast for dinner. My husband loves their sandwichs. The staff is always friendly and service is great 99% of the time. Only improvement I could suggest relates to the gentleman who does card tricks on Wednesdays. Please get rid of the cologne. Lots of people are allergic to strong cologne, including me and most people don't want to smell that while they are eating. Use it sparingly if you insist on wearing it, bathing in it is not necessary. Only reason I could not give it a 5 star. Overall it is a great place. read more
