Party of six was easy to accommodate in this every welcoming place! Greeting was warm our service was great. Kids all got hot chocolate with a tower of whipped cream! For meals we had the southern skillet, coney dogs, coney fries, crispy chicken wrap, fries, burger and Philly cheese sandwich. Everything was great. Our son claimed the best chili cheese fries! While it looks like an abandoned strip mall....you'll find Bennys in the corner! Great food and great people! read more

Do like me some bennys! Was a little underwhelmed at first. Just a simple diner which (at this point) is practically the only occupant of an old shopping center. But the portions were ridiculously generous. Nice diverse menu offering lunch and dinner. Maybe the most decadent looking hot chocolates I've ever seen. I ordered a Philly steak sub. Last minute pick for a quick date after our cat knocked the big breakfast I made this morning all over the floor. This place had EXTRA good food, and wonderful staff! Extra friendly regulars who obviously add to the awesome atmosphere here. Staff was very helpful and food was phenomenal. How often do you go to a restaurant and you don't smell anything cooking? I've been to Benny's many, many times and found out the only thing cooked fresh was the eggs. Everything else is mostly warmed up and cooked in a microwave oven. The owner and staff are very nice, the place is extremely clean so that made a tough decision but ultimately had to stop going there. Fresh cooked food is usually cooked on a grill - cooktop. Not in a microwave. Pay attention next time you go here and you'll notice the sound of the microwave oven not someone cooking on a grill. read more

Couple brothers Elton and Al run the place, looks like Benny's retired. Elton straight outta Lincoln Park and the waitress too. Three of us had a fantastic meal. Grandson Pancakes n Bacon yeah he like it, she had a mega Omelette slathered with Country Gravy n Taters. Me a outrageous Delicious OMG mega Walleye Fillet I so Loved the long deep Fried Crispy Crunchy Walleye, available anytime. Actually a instant Addiction will get me back really soon. First time stopping by after some fine Yelp reviews. I have to agree. It's a small place with big flavors and friendly staff. Just got the basic breakfast and my friend got the biscuits and gravy. Have heard good things about this restaurant. I have never dinned in but have always taken my order to go. The food is home-style cooking which was good with good portion and moderately priced. A wide variety on the menu with daily and weekly specials. Seemed to offer a lot of seafood I thought. I wanted Meatloaf the one day and it was not available that day for a reason I can not recall maybe not available daily but perhaps only as a special. My family of five came here for breakfast. Boy we were pleasantly surprised. Bennu's is in the corner of a pretty much empty shopping center. Please don't just drive by it is worth the stop. I had veggie scramble...it was outstanding. It was loaded with vegetables and cheese and the hashbrowns were perfect.My husband had the corn beef hash and Swiss omelette he said was amazing. The meat was very fresh and it was not fatty. My son had the kielbasa and swiss omelet He thoroughly enjoyed it. Chocolate chip pancakes were also a hit. Had been checking out on-line and decided to go try out. Lucked out and went on an all you can eat fish (cod) Friday. We ordered the cod and fries, you also get a choice of soup or salad. We went with the salad, but I had to have a boil of the chicken noodle soup. Also the meal came with green beans and a bread basket. Everything tasted great and as in previous reviews I have read there was generous portions of everything. The soup was an larger bowl then expected. Before I could finish my soup the salad was there and before I could get a quarter into the salad our meals were there. The second batch of fish were as great as the first and came out just as fast. Service great, food great, portions great, cleanliness great. Will definitely be back again. read more

I know I have written a review for this place...but it seems it has disappeared. For a small diner...this is the place to go...period...best in the Monroe area. Great breakfast's with real potatoes...not what is found from Gordon's like most places. Good coney's but I must admit...they seem to get their chili from the same place that most in town do...I feel that if I was selling coney dogs I would make my own chili sauce to make it...MY OWN...such as Vince's...but with saying that...I still give this place 5 stars. read more

We are regulars for Saturday morning breakfasts here. The ambiance is only what it needs in tables, booths and chairs to serve the food with the only embellishment the two t.v.s on the wall.BUT, the food is quick and good, the service friendly, coffee cups kept full and bargain priced. For less than $7, you can get the Benny special: 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage, ham slabs, hash browns and toast. I can not vouch for their other meals, but, for breakfast, if you are hungry for good basic food, this is a great find. read more

Lots of daily specials on a hand written sign. Adequate service. Nice middle of the road family restaurant. Not much to complain about, not much to wow about either. The cooks do tend to overcook the pork offerings. Much better atmosphere now that they don't have a smoking section, as it was not ventilated properly. read more

We have been there six or seven times for breakfast. Service is a tad slow (but they do seem to be quite busy every time we have been there), so that slowness can probably be overlooked somewhat. 5/11/13 I ordered the Walleye special for $9.50. I was server a skimpy piece 6" by 1 1/2". Called for the manager who was in his 30's. His reply was "That is the way it comes". My dinner companion had 4 nice pieces of cod which I referred the manager to and he said "That is cod you have Walleye and this is the way in come" Do not order the Walleye! read more
