Went there for breakfast, which I assumed that they should be great at, and was somewhat disappointed. The breakfast special is quite a deal, with pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and sausage. Hashbrowns and eggs were good, but the pancakes were just okay and surprisingly, the sausages were overcooked and dry. Isn't this suppose to be a Bob Evans, where they specialize in sausages? So disappointing, I traditionally love Bob Evans. I gave this location 3 different tries before i decided i was done. The location is in a great location, and very clean and the first impression is great. But on our first visit we were sat in a back corner at a tiny 2 person table when the restaurant was basically empty. We ordered our food and they table wasnt even big enough to have the 2 main plates let alone the plate of toast and to cups of coffee. But I can get over that. The second first was worse, we never even got to order. We were sat at a table, much better this time! But the waiter never came. We sat for about 10 mins before we waved someone down. She was apologetic and brought us drinks and told us our actual waiter would be right with us. We finished our drinks which was about another 10-15 mins, and decided to stop another waiter and asked if they knew who are served was suppose to be, he said he wasnt sure i would have to check up front. So we did and calmly explained no one had helped us yet. They grabbed our waiter and ask him to help us ASAP, he said he would be right over. Went and said down waited another 10mins and still know one. So we just left. Arrived at 9:10am and was sat right away left at 9:43am with no food. And the final time we visited the server was amazing. She came right out took of orders got our drinks and food to us, just as you would expect from any restaurant. BUT, always a but, the man cleaning the table seemed to have a bad attitude. we could hear him moaning and complaining under his breath. Now i am a reasonable person and understand people have bad days. so it would take a little than that to upset me. He was cleaning the table across from us when he threw a kids cup full of milk into his tray that he had laying on the floor, the cup was full and the lay blew off and milk went everywhere, it was all down the right side of my husband face and beard, all down my pants and in my purse and to top it off all across our table and food. He grab the tray and stormed off without as much as a sorry, maybe he didnt even realize it happened. But the two tables around us notice and the one customer brought over napkins for us. When our server came back she seen us cleaning up and asked what happened we told her and she seemed horrified and got the manager. The manager gave us a coupon fro our next visit, even though we werent able to eat the food we got, but i paid anyway, and left the coupon. But took good care of the server, since she was so nice and understanding. read more

Bob Evans is one of my favorite places for breakfast. The patty sausage with biscuits and gravy are great! The homestead is my favorite however, ask for an upsized "bowl" of gravy because what they serve is a small "cup" which is actually less than a cup. Service here is really good. I had one bad experience but I think the server was new and it was a very busy day. Another nice improvement is they serve coffee and leave extra refills on the table. read more

Dreadful service. We were there for 3 hours had three different servers and they acted like they had been drinking the juice. The first one took a half an hour to take our drink order, and then got it wrong. Then she finally came back around in another half-hour and took our order and vanished. Just vanished. We were invisible. Finally, our second waitress brought out our order 45 minutes later and it was wrong. I mean there were four of us and not one order was right. This waitress took a attitude with me because I was desperate to get it right. When she came back the order was still not right. Later, we had to get up and find her for more refreshments. I also got up to get condiments (that we asked for) off other tables. I really can't imagine that service can get more negligent than this. I usually go to Bob Evans for breakfast, but thought I'd try the for lunch for a change. Bad idea. I ordered the fried cod with fries and green beans. The cod was about eight inches long, which seemed like a decent sized piece until I broke into the crust and found that a good three inches of it was AIR. It was maybe five inches of actural fish. The actual fish was thin and partially uncooked. It didn't even taste like cod. There were about twenty or so small shoestring potatoes and a small bowl of canned string beans, limp and salty, with a couple of tiny pieces of processed ham thrown in. It was over thirteen dollars with tax, and I left there feeling really angry that they could have a beautiful picture of the meal on the menu that bore no resemblance to the actual food they served. The manager gave us a discount for our trouble, but I'm more angry with myself than anyone that I didn't return it when I saw how terrible it was. IThe waitress was apologetic, but it wasn't her fault, and it didn't affect her tip. I just wish they could get cooks who know how to prepare the meals correctly. Breakfast is usually great, so this came as a big shock and disappointment. I've got to say that the biscuits were good inspite of what was going on in the kitchen that day! read more

Stopped on return from a family reunion...worst experience being in MD for that weekend. We waited 30 mins, party of 5 with 2 small kids, when we finally got a table there were at least 3 empty booths available. Waited another 15 mins before anyone came to take our order, we ultimately left when we approached the server inquiring what was taking so long and she too responded with an attitude that she can take our order (she had been chatting up a table ahead of us all this time) Two workers at front booth more concerned w/ 'shouting out to their people'. Approached hostess w/ pony tail (young girl w/ a gun tattoo). 'I am sure the waitress will get to you soon'. Cared less about customers being served. I eat here for breakfast frequently and it's always hit or miss both with quality and service. To me, the measure of how well anyone can cook is if they can get an egg order correct. I asked for over medium and my spouse asked for over easy. We got the same thing....not quite over easy and not over medium. I ordered dry toast, meaning don't brush on some fake liquid butter. I received crunchy (like a cracker or chips) toast with fake butter. I asked for crispy hashed browns. Instead I got soggy yet burned hashed browns. I don't even know how that happens. Cooked low and slow on a griddle with no oil? My husbands biscuits were too crunchy to eat so he left half. The bacon, while done, was limp as a noodle. Service was no more than ok. It wasn't busy. Server took a long time to take order. Food wasn't that hot when delivered, indicating it was sitting. The servers were talking so loud to each other that it was distracting. Rude and unprofessional. Had to wait to pay because no one was working the register. Only about 8 tables filled and at least 5 servers standing around. read more

I love this spot. Good food at a decent price. I tend to favor their breakfasts (which they serve all day). I live nearby so it is one of my regular places to hit Their Carry-Out operation is great. This is a tough review because I love the food, but the service could be better. Most of the wait staff are teenagers. They often seem to be more interested in seeing who is going home first when they are over staffed, or having side conversations. There are times that certain things are not mentioned until late as well. On a recent visit, we requested twisted cheese sticks and we were not told until our food came out that they did not have them. I will still go because I like Bob Evans waaaayyyy better than IHOP but its just not a favorite when it comes to the service. read more

I haven't been to bob Evans in Bowie in about a year, food is usually good but this time I didn't even get to eat.. it was around 2pm on a Saturday basically not busy morning rush was gone. Gentlemen told me to wait to get a table. 5 min later I get sat, waited another 15 min. Never got approached by a waiter, had 3 different ones pass by me never said a word. I ended up having to walk out I'm pretty sure no one noticed that either. So guess what I had to do drive all the way up 301 and go to ihop. Extremely unpleasant experience, never again! read more

After the Gambrills Bob Evans closed, my parents and I decided to drive a bit further and visit the Bowie one just to have the comfort food they are known for. Turns out, this was the first and last time we are will eat here, after having a frustrating dining experience. It took forever to even get our drinks and almost 40 minutes to receive our food. We had to ask for silverware, which of course, took another 10 minutes. At one point, the Assistant Manager walked by, and we asked him if we could at least have the bread, salad and soups we ordered (normal request, right?), and he told us that they were extremely busy, everyone is waiting and there are only five servers. Almost making us feel guilty for even asking for OUR food. Needless to say, the service was horrible as we were treated as if we were a bother. We will certainly not be returning. read more

My boyfriend & I dined at the Bowie, MD location last weekend and the restaurant was virtually empty when we arrived that evening. Though the service was slow (due lack of enough waiters and cooks when we were there), we were lucky to have a very accommodating waiter (TAYO). He did everything he could to correct things and even juggled assisting in the kitchen (due to matters pertaining to the cooks), to expedite the preparation of our meal, while still waiting tables. It was not his fault the restaurant was lacking and he went above & beyond to assist with things. It's because of his superior customer service that I am giving this review a higher rating than I ordinarily would have. If I wasn't convinced before not to come to Bob Evans, (and I was) now I'm officially done with this place! After we were seated, it took a while before we were even offered drinks (10-15 mins.) By that time, my wife and I were ready to order our food. My wife, to be healthy, ordered a vegetarian omelette. Me, I ordered french toast. After about another 20 to 30 minutes we finally got our food! However there were many mistakes. The biggest mistake was that my wife had bacon inside of her veggie omelette. the waiter offered to exchange it for the correct omelette, but my wife hesitated as it has taken a long time for the first meal to arrive. She did ask him to exchange her meal, once again it was incorrect... With bacon inside! the waiter brought over the manager who insisted that it was going to be corrected this time. another omelette came out and this time it had no bacon! But... It had no cheese, lol. You can't make this stuff up ! That was the biggest issue, but they're were plenty of other issues. The wait staff is not attentive, and the food just did not taste good at all. I'm a very dissatisfied customer and will never ever visit Bob Evans again. read more

I like coming to Bob Evans because I can get excellent and satisfactory service and hospitality from it's managers and employees who work there. There is one manager I like in particular (Lourdes) who is always smiling, very courteous and very professional. I like the way she attends to her duties as well as duties that are assigned to other waiters/waitresses assigned to her. Everything during my visit was done in an excellent and professional manner, and in the very near future I will be more than happy to return to Bob Evans. read more

My husband went to the manager to provide feedback on the level of service and he said someone would be right with us. Another 7 minutes passed and we'd had it!!! I have also written this to the corporate HQ about my experience... EXTREMELY disappointed in our service. We were a party of 4 adults/3 kids and our male Hispanic server took 5+ minutes to get to our table to greet us, we then ordered our meals and beverages at the same time. Our food took over the avg time frame that I'm used to for a BE resturant (we ordered simple pancake and egg meals). Once all of the food arrived there was still one child meal of pancakes that had not arrived. That took another 5 minutes. When he brought it out it was incorrect and chocolate chip, we then had to wait for a new plate. Our server never once asked if we needed refills and even when our entire table had finished he never brought the check. One member of our party had to request the bill and when I asked for a comment card the mgr said that they no longer provided it. I proceeded to tell her our experience and her response was a simple apology and asked if we wanted more coffee, we already had half the party in the car and were standing to pay, so that was an obvious NO!!! The resturant was not busy and there were several wait staff available for the sections so there is no reason our server should have been that inattentive. Also, for a 730am visit the womens restroom was disgusting and the first stall had no toilet paper in the dispenser. There were several rolls available to refill, but at 7am it shouldn't be empty and if they just went through a rush a staff member should be checking the restrooms more often. I used to go to this location all of the time but within the past year, the service has been on a steady decline and I rarely go. I stopped by here Sunday morning around 10 (peak time) with a party of 5, when the hostess told me the wait would be about 30 minutes. 1 hour later, I still have yet to be seated but everyone else (even those who came in after me) have been seated, even a party of 13! There was no accommodation, care, or effort made to seat my party of 5 even a hour later. The hostesses (young girl with puff ball and a gun tat and young man) couldn't have cared less. The food is a notch above fast food, but Bob Evans will always be best known for its breakfast menu. Prices are fair. If you want something nicer, I would suggest the Silver Diner chain. Locally there is Rips down 301 but Bob Evans is clean and the prices are fair, two things you can never say about Rips. Most of the negative reviews focus on service and it can be poor. For breakfast get there and be seated before 9 am for best service. It is value for money, no more and no less. read more
