Been to the old location…read more Been to the new location. I don't get the hype. The food is basic at best. The fish (catfish and croaker) always tastes like it's been fried in grease that needs changing. There's no flavor profile in the food which is weird for a soul-food restaurant. The mixed veggies were absolutely disgusting-- gave them back. I paid $65 for fried catfish with two sides, fried croaker with two sides, a cookie and two drinks---and sadly, the only thing that was sort of worth it was the cornbread, but it tastes like it has coconut in it. I hate coconut. The item that was the most flavorful for me was the black eyed peas/hoppin John (minus the big pieces of fatty meat in them).

This restaurant was very new, having opened less than a month before our visit, and it was packed with people on a Monday morning. One thing that immediately stood out was the atmosphere. The restaurant had a fresh, modern feel, and the space was noticeably larger than most First Watch locations we've visited. It felt open, bright, and welcoming despite how busy it was. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming. We waited about 25 minutes to be seated, and our food took a little longer than usual to arrive, but given the crowd, that was understandable. As always, First Watch delivered a great experience. Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. My husband and I had a good laugh when she asked if we wanted separate checks at the end of our meal. LOL The food arrived hot, fresh, and well-seasoned, just as we've come to expect from First Watch. Overall, it was another enjoyable visit, and I would definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

Service was slow but pleasant and apologetic for being short staffed for crowd they were facing. We were in no rush so it didn't matter. Stocked with standard beer, wine and simple bar alcohol. No long waits to be seated or for a waiter to come and assist you. The ambiance is like any other sports bar/pub. I ordered the margarita flight and i asked for LALO tequila in all of the drinks. All of them were pretty interesting. I didn't really like the blood orange margarita, but the others were cool. I decided to order a ribeye steak (never had it before at BJ's decided to step out of my norm) As did my Bf. I was a little disappointed when received our food because our steaks were different shapes/thickness, too salty & not properly cooked to our preferred doneness. We brought this up to our waitress and asked for the Head Chef to re-make the steaks. She apologized and sent it back. In the interim, we enjoyed hot honey wings & you can never go wrong with the wings! no complaints, always a solid choice. The kitchen brought us both fresh steaks, and asked us was it cooked to our liking. The ribeyes looked like ribeyes, and rather than less seasoning, it tasted like there wasn't any seasoning at all. It was better than before but not 100%. However we agreed to avoid feeling like we are complaining too much. We continued our meal, paid, tipped & left. This felt like an honest accident as this location was fairly busy due to graduation season in the area. I also felt like I couldn't expect steakhouse quality from a tavern-styled restaurant. Moreover, it's BJ's food is good for what you get. I do enjoy BJ's, I do enjoy sticking to the food I know from there, and will see myself visiting again.

It's a Caribbean spot with a full brunch menu, so yes, the food takes a little time... but that's part of the experience, not a flaw. Given the size of our party, the service held its own. It was steady, attentive, and friendly without feeling rushed--which honestly matched the vibe perfectly. If you come in expecting lightning-fast turnaround, you're in the wrong mindset. Come to enjoy your time. Now let's talk food. I ordered the steak, and it did not disappoint--well-seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the real surprise? That biscuit and butter. Listen... I could've made a whole meal out of that alone. And the mimosas? Nice and light--exactly how our group likes them. I didn't get the oxtail and grits, but I didn't need to. One look across the table told me everything I needed to know--full-on bowl-to-the-chin action. If you know, you know. It wasn't overly crowded for a Sunday, but the weather had randomly dipped back into winter mode after teasing us with 80 degrees, so I'll give them that. Overall, great experience.
