We haven't even received our international shipment and we have received the worst customer service I have ever received. On Friday when I called them to schedule delivery, they didn't even know they had our stuff. We had to call the forwarding agent who called them and told them they had it. Then I called back and the first thing the lady who answered the phone said was that "this was her gig" like, this is what she said she had to do. She couldn't help me and I had to talk to "Jim" (who must be god because Friday he was the only one we were allowed to deal with and today, we aren't allowed to talk to him at all.) Anyways, on Friday, Jim said it would be here today and when we called today to find out what time, they had no idea we existed. So, it should come tomorrow sometime if we get a call this afternoon. On Friday, my husband was the only one who could accept delivery of the shipment and now the rules are changing and I can accept it. Go figure... UGH! I have never filed a complaint with a corporate office and I've already contacted corporate. I could go on and on about their customer service - or lack thereof. i just called their corporate office and because it's an international move there is nothing Bekins can do. We have do deal with the agent directly. Nice. read more

Bekins did a great job with our move until the delivery. It was a rainy day, they were un-prepared and didn't have any cloths to put down to protect the carpets. They asked if we would go purchase carpet runners at the local hardware store, which we did at the expense of $161. They said we would be reimbursed. We weren't! Filed a claim which was approved, got an official letter saying the check would arrive in 30 days, that was 6 months ago. We continue to call and write emails on a bi weekly basis and we can't get anyone to call us back. They are totally shady! read more

Bekins Moving Solutions (El Cajon Location) was in charge of delivering multiple items to my home. My estimated shipping date reported that it would take 1 week to be shipped to my home. After two weeks, I directly called Bekins Logistics center and was told that my items had partially arrived and they had no idea where the rest of the times where located. Two more weeks go by and I directly called the same center. I was told the same exact statement. A quality moving service should be able to track and amend any transit/shipping issue. Not only was this matter handled untimely, it was also handled in an unprofessional manner. read more

This company is the worst. Never will use them again and wish I had read the reviews before we signed up with them to move our home from Ca to Oklahoma. The movers did not deliver our $1000 air compressor and they broke our recliner and the bedroom set was missing the bed frame and the end tables were scratched. Yet they have the gall to say they have no proof. They have a scam going on with the movers to hide all the mistakes made by the mover guys and it is really disgusting. I haven't even listed all the parts that were missing to our furniture. I sent in a claim for $4000 and they sent me $150, what is wrong with these people. Do not use this moving company! The packers stole $400 from my desk drawer & never said a word. They marked every piece of my 14 month old furniture as scratched, chipped, gouged, stained or soiled on every possible surface so they could deny any damages as well as a later claim. The movers did a great job moving our stuff out of one place and delivering to the new place. They forgot the bolts to our crib when they delivered our stuff to the new place, but did overnight mail them which I appreciated. The one thing I was frustrated about was that there was very little communication about the time the movers would be coming to our place on the day of our move. I called several times the day before and the day of and could not get a straight answer about a window of when they would be coming. This increased the stress of an already stressful move given that I had to coordinate care for my 2 year old during the moving period. read more

They shipped it using Home direct USA..Bigger Mistake! it has been two months and they were unable to track my package, etc... NIGHTMARE. It FINALLY lands in San Diego to be delivered by Beklins. The girl that handles your delivery is named Jennifer she is rude and flip and truly uninterested in helping anyone out. I have had to speak with her three times. I just wanted to know when they were going to schedule delivery. She wouldn't tell me. She simply said they would call the night before. She basically let me know that speaking to me was like chewing glass. Sorry to keep you from filing your nails! After pleading my case with her three times. She finally flipped through some papers and told me they would be there Friday between 8 and 11am. Was that so hard?? read more

I chose Bekins Moving Solutions because their salesman promised me that my furniture and possessions would be loaded only once, in San Diego, on the truck that would deliver them in Northern California. Apparently, this was not the case, and from what I heard from the delivery team, the broken and lost items were the responsibility of the other teams that moved my things from truck to truck in San Diego and then again in Los Angeles. The packing team was fast and efficient, but the delivery team virtually threw my things into my new apartment. They slapped my bed together, never mentioning that much of the hardware had been lost and they didn't know how to assemble it correctly. On examination, much of my expensive furniture was scratched, chipped, scraped and missing pieces. Some items, such as my 40-year-old and prized Eames chair, have been moved at least seven times over the years, including three cross-country moves. These guys did more damage in one move than all of the others combined, and the dishonest, disrespectful behavior of the delivery team was completely unacceptable. My complaint has been met with a sympathetic email message implying that action would be taken to address my issues, but I have heard absolutely nothing from them. It's obvious that unless I put some time and effort into making myself a nuisance, nothing will be done for me. Buyer beware! Whatever you do, whomever you hire, be skeptical and ask a lot of questions, and watch everything they do very carefully. read more

I called Carlos after hours and he not only answered all my questions, but also got movers scheduled in time to keep my move on track to get out in the time I needed. Three movers came out instead of the two I expected and they moved everything quicker than I thought it would go. Great service all around! read more

Really bad customer service...my claim is 5 months old, sent in multiple times..I am consulting with a legal team about the way Bekins handle claims, cents to pound, they use a handbook with set weight, think 90 pounds for a solid wood double dresser, which the furniture store the item was bought from confirmed a weight of 375 pounds...Bekins sent an email from some manager insulting us and basically guilting us about the messages we leave to get reaction..the whole move was bad, not enough boxes at time of packing delay of four hours, delivery at 8pm when no light was available and furniture and staircase was damaged, stolen boxes etc. I am also involving a local TV network so people can watch out for this companies very bad way of doing business read more

I inherited an 18th floor condo full of stuff in downtown San Diego. I knew I needed professionals to get the items moved to Texas. Ed came out and gave me an estimate, i agreed to it, and left town, as I had pending surgery. I packed lots of items myself, however, the rest was packed by Bekins. They stored everything for about 3 months, at a better rate than a storage unit! I called when I was ready for the items, and was given a delivery window. The driver called me a few days in advance of the actual delivery. He arrived as scheduled, and everything was quickly and efficiently unloaded. There were several pieces of glass furniture and a 50+ inch flat screen involved. All of it was well packed and crated. No damage, nothing missing. Would not hesitate to use Bekins again. read more

Bekins Movers were SO awesome, they topped the scale! Mark Glazier came to do our estimate, and we chose Bekins based on the great estimate (as compared with two other companies). Mark is not only an extremely proficient estimator, he has also driven and worked on many moves. His hands-on knowledge made this move so much easier; the power of a "Can Do" attitude is immense. Lorenzo came with a team of 6 men to load the truck. Within 4 hours, a 2500 square foot home was emptied of its possessions, inventoried, and prepared for shipment to Idaho. Mark came to see how it was going, and even pitched in helping us pack some final boxes. My friend who was moving had a stroke several years ago, had lived there for 15 years, and was having lots of physical issues during the packing process. Due to the expert moving assistance of Bekins staff, I can honestly say, they worked miracles for her. Carlos delivered the shipment as planned in Idaho, offloaded all the items, found a particular piece of wood the client needed for her TV armoir, and completely moved her to her new home. Using Bekins was a horrible experience for me. I had a couch being delivered. I live on the upstairs apartment of a two apartment building. I had "UPSTAIRS UNIT" on my delivery slip and I also called Bekins to verify that my couch needed to be delivered upstairs. I asked my downstairs neighbors to leave a note on the door stating that the couch needed to go upstairs. When I got home I found that the couch was not only not upstairs, but was left in the middle of the walkway to the downstairs unit. When I called Bekins to ask for a delivery fee refund they were rude and unhelpful. My downstairs neighbor told me that she even spoke to the man delivering the couch and told him to go upstairs and he said "too bad". HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. He was very prompt (He was actually early and waiting up the street), very professional and well prepared. He was able to print my estimate on the spot, yes, hooked up a small portable printer to his tablet! I didn't actually go with the company, as they were a little steep, however, I would recommend this company if you can afford it, the promise to shrink wrap everything was very reassuring!! read more

I wish I had better things to say... I hired Bekins of El Cajon in January of 2011 and I am still dealing with the aftermath!! BEWARE.... they do not hold up their end of the bargain... even when you pay for it!! They packed and stored my belongings in San Diego until I was ready for delivery up in San Francisco, and I will give em props for this part of the move because it was flawless! However, the delivery part went from bad to worse. From poor SOCAL delivery drivers that apparently "hated" San Francisco (yes, I did quote them...) and could not take direction worth a dime. From where to park in the city to where to place my belongings, this was all bad. I even helped unload the truck because these guys couldn't be trusted to handle my things with care. I could go on and on about the delivery day, which changed 3 times by the way, and not at my request. But then everything after was absolutely horrible. There was some damage to some of my things... OK, no big deal, it happens when you move and trust me I have moved my share of cross-country moves... But the way it was all handled, or more importantly NOT HANDLED was truly amazing and not in a good way. The general manager of this office seriously needs a class or two in customer service, and what to do when they have to process a claim. I ended up having to take them to Small Claims Court up in SF since they would not handle my complaint fairly and I actually won. Unfortunately, I am still having to chase after them for payment, even though this guy they sent to court all-of-a-sudden accepted responsibility... It really makes no sense other than absolute arrogance for poor service and making the customer suffer unnecessarily. I strongly caution anyone who hires this firm to handle their move... It was unfortunately one on the most horrendous experiences I have had in the service industry. read more

A friend of mine had nothing but great things to say about Bekins, so I went with them as I have had some rough experiences with my previous seven moves. Ed came out and did an inventory and gave us an amazingly accurate quote. Josh B's crew of Daniel, Jose, Rafe, and Alex showed up as promised, and were efficient, prompt, professional, and seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. There must be well versed in "Tetris", as they fit everything into one less crate than predicted. Except for a very rare scratch, looks like everything went perfect. If I could give Bekins zero stars I would. They completely demolished all of my furniture in a cross country move and are refusing to pay to replace the furniture. All my furniture left my apartment in one piece and arrived completely broken down and in shambles. My experience has been awful. The drivers were scheduled to come between 8-9 and arrived at 10am. The movers proceeded to load my furniture without plastic wrap, which was included in the quote. Then argued with me saying my furniture would be protected with blankets. I said, "no" and to please plastic wrap all furniture. Two items were noticeably ruined with the move, but I didn't catch it until they left. I had a large glass panel broken into thirds. The movers, instead showed me a chip in another glass panel, but failed to show me the one broken into thirds. I submitted a claim, but I have no answer on that yet. In addition to all of this trouble, I was billed incorrectly by $100! I am furious with this company and will never use you again. read more

I must say I started out very thrilled with picking Bekins as our moving company. We spent close to 7 thousand dollars to move across country. Quite honestly the communication with the moving coordinator Rebecca was HORRIBLE. The customer service was non existent. The true heart of this company are the movers. They were truly great from start to finish. But unfortunately the corporate office was borderline incompetent. The thing that upsets me most was not spending the money but referring them to my loved ones who also had a TERRIBLE experience with the moving coordinator. Do NOT trust Bekins movers with your move!! My husband and I moved across the country using Bekins (Wheaton Van Lines). From the beginning they proved inept, unorganized and uncaring. They did not have the correct paperwork filled out. I had to do it for them. They did not call us during the move, or to tell us when our things would be arriving in Florida. They did not offer us insurance. Their customer representative was untrained and could not answer any of our questions. Worst of all, they lost precious family items. They were condescending, and told us to PROVE the items were shipped. In essence, they called us liars. Even though the items were listed on the bill of lading, they would not reimburse us for our loss. They were good at only one thing...making sure the five thousand dollars was paid by certified check or credit card. They did call us to check on their payment...they are experts on collecting their money, and completely uncaring about delivering your items. I cannot warn you more explicitly to find another moving company!!! read more

Do not use this moving company! They were very overpriced, and not worth it in any way. My estimator was arrogant and difficult to deal with. Initially, I simply asked him why he insisted that I use four movers when my last movers had used only two men. It seemed to upset him that I questioned him, and he coldly informed me that he was good at his job and knew what he was doing. He did not seem to appreciate the fact that I simply wanted to make certain that the extra cost was necessary. He did not like being questioned. I should have cancelled the move at that time. The men arrived over an hour late, after insisting on a start time that was earlier than what we wanted. Since we had already moved out of the house, we had to get up very early to get to the house at the pre-arranged early starting time. We sat and waited for an hour and a half for them to arrive. They did not bring the amount of wardrobes that Ed had specified and that I needed. Only half the required amount were brought to me. They acted quite annoyed that I needed more. Although I had paid for new wardrobes, the ones they did make available to me were in poor condition and not satisfactory. Since it was a Saturday, they complained that the warehouse manager would have to be brought in to open the warehouse so they could get the wardrobes. No one else had a key. One of the movers was very rude to me and questioned whether I should be able to have new wardrobes, even though I had requested them and paid for them. I never understood what they expected me to do with all my clothes. Eventually my rep got wardrobes from the warehouse and brought them to me, but was very put out by having to do so. The rude mover continued to behave coldly to me the rest of the day. The team leader tried to get him to apologize to me, but the mover just walked off. It was a very unpleasant experience. In addition, we have discovered that they did not screw in the bolts on a bed, simply laid it in the frame. Fortunately, this was a guest bed that was not used before we discovered this and had it put together properly. Similarly, they did not screw back the bookcase that attaches over a credenza. They just set it on top. If someone had leaned against this, it would have fallen over. These movers are so anxious to get away from the house after delivery that they do not finish things properly or even ask you about how you want things left. And this company presents themselves as white glove movers. They are the worst I have ever had. This company overcharges. They charged us about three times what the previous moving company had charged us to move the same amount. I was naive and thought that it would be worth the extra cost. It was not! First, let me say that this review is intended for the El Cajon office staff, scheduling/dispatch and the agent who gave me the estimate. I am an experienced mover having moved across country three times and within California 4 times. I know what the process should be and what good service looks like. This was so far from good service that I would love to be able to give minus 5 stars. First, at the beginning of March the agent came to the house to give me an estimate. The estimate was reasonable but I was particularly concerned about the delivery window. The agent gave me the window which put the last day of possible delivery on March 28th. I told him that would not work as I started my new job on that day and I could not have delivery then. He assured me it was no problem and said, "they will deliver on weekends so that is not a problem." Remember this for later in this review. My move date was March 22nd. I thought it was odd that by March 21st that I had not had any contact from Bekins. Past experience is that someone makes contact with you to explain when to expect the packers and moving crew. So, I called the office and only got a voice mail. No one called me back. On the morning of the 22nd, the day of the move, I still had not heard from Bekins. So once again I called the office. The person answering the phone said that I needed to talk to dispatch so she transferred me to dispatch. My call went to voice mail. This was at 9:30 in the morning on the day of the move. At 10:30 I had not received a call back so I called again. Again the person answering the phone told me I needed to talk to dispatch. I asked that he not put me through to voice mail again. He did find someone to talk to me. I explained again why I was calling and asked when I could expect the truck. The person I was speaking to me was unable to give me an answer and told me he would call me back in a few minutes. No, he didn't call back. Once almost another hour went by, I called again. I told the person answering the phone that I was very upset with the lack of response from them and I wanted someone to call me and tell me what time the truck would arrive. A few minutes later, someone from dispatch did finally call. He started out the conversation by saying, "I understand you are getting a little impatient." No, not impatient, furious. Day of the move with zero contact from this company does not create impatience. I again asked when the truck would arrive. Mind you, it is now almost noon on the day of the move. The person on the phone started rambling that there was a truck finishing up another job and they were going to have that truck come to my house to do the move. At that point, I said something to the effect that obviously they forgot to schedule me. The person on the phone denied this. About 2 hours later, a truck and crew arrived. The first thing the driver said to me was, "Forgot you, did they?". I have no complaints about the guys packing and loading as all of that was good. Moving forward, on the 24th, I am in my new city, waiting to hear when the delivery will occur. Once again, I heard nothing from this company. So once again, I was calling them to find out what the schedule was. On Friday, March 25, I connected with their office and asked when I could expect delivery. Remember what I wrote in the beginning about not being able to take delivery on the 28th? Well, after telling me he would call me back, the person at Bekins did call back this time. And he said, "Good news, delivery will be on the 28th." So I explained what I had said to that agent who did the estimate. The person I spoke with said he would have to check with that agent (translation: this means that once again, it wasn't scheduled). The Bekins person called me back and said that the agent didn't put that information in his notes so delivery would be on the 28th. Apparently that means I was lying. End of story, I had to take 1/2 day off my first day of a new job. This company screwed up from beginning to end and not once did they offer an apology or own their own mistakes. Moving is stressful for anyone and one of the goals of a good moving company should be to make your move as smooth as possible. RUN and find a different company if you are planning a move out of the San Diego area. read more

Bekins first moved us in 2007 and did a wonderful job. When we moved in 2014, we must have gotten the C crew. They packed up things we asked them not to pack, but there was a whole closet they forgot to pack. Plastic toys were carefully wrapped in several layers, while fragile works of art were crammed into boxes with no protection, and of course were damaged. My career has taken me and my family to many places across the U.S. and the World. I have had my share of bad and good moving experiences. Recently we sold our house in El Cajon, and hired Bekins. They moved our goods to their storage facility while my wife and I moved to our furnished condo in Carlsbad until we find a house in Carlsbad to move into. It took us a few months to find the right house and to close on it. So we had Bekins move our furniture and items from storage to our new house. Since our new house was also in Carlsbad we decided that we really no longer need to keep the condo so we solicited Bekins help again to move us out of the condo into our new house and to deliver some of our condo furniture to our son at UTC. In all honesty, I have never ever had as good an experience with a moving company as I had with these guys. Each and every time (in a total of 3 moves) they show up with a crew of four men, all are courteous, polite, capable and very efficient. Only one of the crew was on two of the moves (Jeremy). So we dealt with eleven different Bekins movers that were all top notch. I addition, we got the estimates and paper work from a very presentable young man by the name of Mark. We trusted him and dealt with him on all arrangements. Never have I or my wife had any bad experience with any of the Bekins crew, their representatives or the girls at their office that answer the phone and arrange for payments and confirm moving and delivery dates and arrangements. read more
