    Bacon wrapped figs
    Heather K.

In Bend for the weekend and looking for lunch while enjoying a beverage at Crosscut. The bacon on the figs is crisp, not flabby, and the flavor combination is delicious. Wasn't too sure as I'm not a fan of Gorgonzola, but these did not disappoint. Asked if the spicy chicken sandwich could be made with a dressing other than bleu cheese, and he was happy to replace with mayo. Chef was super friendly and we would easily come back to Bend just for this food. Beautifully sunny day and laid back atmosphere definitely adds to the vibe.

Solid 5. Fantastic burger with tons of flavor and huge portions. The fries are crispy and plentiful, I was so full!

    Burnt Fried chicken sandwich

I brought a friend from Arizona to this food truck. And I love fried chicken and I ordered a fried chicken sandwich which was an edible. Again I was thinking to myself God this chicken is so bad it reminds me of a place I went to downtown. And I turned around and looked at the name and I said oh my goodness this is the same place. Just a different location. The chicken was dry. It was practically burnt. The bun was like mush and fell apart and the same thing happened to my friend's burger bun. you couldn't hold onto the sandwich because everything was sliding out. Once again, I was disappointed I would've never chosen that if I recall the name of the place, I had done a review on before. I don't know why they don't clean their grease because that's one of the reasons it's so dark and they overcook it but the fact that they can't even put it on a bun that will hold the food is totally ridiculous. Hopefully, I will not make that mistake again and forget the name if they have additional locations. Attached are the photos speak for themselves.

    Thunder eggs

We ordered some extra food from here to go with our pizzas. We got the chicken and waffles, fries, and thunder eggs. I liked the texture and flavor of the chicken more than the waffle. The fries were prefect to go with our drinks. The thunder eggs are best consumed when still warm.

Banana pudding ! So good! I needed something sweet after eating Thai food and this hit the spot.

    Chicken and waffles

Brought my dad here for early father's day since his favorite food is chicken and waffles. First of all, absolutely the nicest guy ever working there. So friendly and welcoming. Made me want to order the whole menu. Chicken and waffles were great and out a smile on my dads face. The syrup with the hot sauce was fantastic. My only wish is I personally like bone in chicken vs strips for chicken and waffles, I know that would take a lot longer so probably not as ideal for a truck. But I think that would have made it 5 stars for me. I'll definitely come back and try other things, great food and loving service!

Fried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes. Ordered a side of fries to try too.

Restaurant Review - Fire on the Mountain - Bend, Oregon…read more I had lunch here with a friend and his wife, whom I just met. This is a very casual restaurant. In fact, pretty much everything about Fire on the Mountain is casual. The staff was mellow, and it is a standard walk-up, order, get a number, and find-a-seat setup. That part went smoothly. We sat outside, which was a comfortable space. The whole restaurant feels airy, relaxed, and yes, very casual. Our order came out fairly quickly. The food was presented well, but this is where the experience fell short. My Straight-Up Chicken Sandwich lived up to its name. It was just that, a straight-up chicken sandwich. Nothing really set it apart from what I could throw together at home. The tater tots were straight out of a school cafeteria or from my own freezer and air fryer. Two thumbs up, however, for the Hawaiian Punch. I checked with my dining companions, and they agreed their meals were on the average side. One mentioned her BBQ chicken salad was overdressed. "Doused" was the word she used. The other said the barbecue sauce on his sandwich was thin and bland. Prices are right in line with what is common these days. Sandwiches run about $16 to $17, with $2 to $3 add-ons for cheese, bacon, etc. With tip, lunch for the three of us came to about $59. That is standard for Bend now, though it still stings. I pressed the printed ticket button but never received one, and I did not bother to ask. Not a big deal. Overall, it was a nice lunch with good company. The space is pleasant, and the staff covered the basics. But the food did not stand out, and there was nothing about the experience that would make me suggest to friends, "Hey, let's go to Fire on the Mountain." I will probably pass on a return visit.

I opted for the Sticky Gochujang and Jamaican Jerk (six each), thinking that would provide two disparate tastes given my experiences with both. As it turned out, not so much. Both sixes of wings were well prepared and quite tasty but were also (over)loaded with sauce. I normally expect jerk wings to be dry. The Korean wings were not so much 'sticky' as drowned in sauce. Frankly, the flavors were similar. Prices are high but that's what you have to expect these days in Bend. The wings are not small as some have suggested. Fairly normal sized, I'd say. Haven't tried a crepe yet but the photos look enticing. I give this cart a thumbs up although next time I'll try the Old Bay style which friends have reported to be of the dry variety.

We arrived around 230 on a Wednesday and were surprised how many people were coming and going. After our experience, we understand why. We got in the short, quick line and looked over the specials and menu while waiting. I ordered the heirloom salad (but got the macha salsa on the side because I'm wimpy) and the elote corn, both on the " very, very specials" board. Randy ordered the chicken tinga taco and the carnitas taco and an order of chips and salsa. Corina got the beef and broccoli which came with a side of Jasmine rice. Everything was delicious although Randy was missing a couple things: a spicier salsa and thinner chips. I thought they were fine but he is quite particular where chips and salsa are concerned. He enjoyed the tacos, loved that they were street tacos and thought the carnitas were a little more flavorful but both were good. My salad was fresh and flavorful, all the components (minus the spicy macha salsa) made it exactly what I was hoping for. The corn was buttery, creamy, flavorful. The best I've had. It's a whole piece of corn broken in half and slathered with all the goodness with some slaw, cotija and lime on the side. Corina's beef and broccoli was scrumptious. I don't normally enjoy that dish but this one was excellent. The meat was flavorful and not grisly and the broccoli was cooked perfectly, not mushy. It was a huge portion. After eating a piece of the corn, she's got beef broccoli leftovers. Randy also got a raspberry soda which was good, not super sweet, and Corina got the apple mint lemonade which was very good. Everyone was nice and helpful and the music was a good level, plenty of seating. Apparently some outside too. We absolutely are looking forward to going back. I'm Chinese and my husband is Mexican, so in theory this place would be right up our alley. However the shrimp taco's tortilla was not made fresh which is is the whole point of the taco (the salsa and the tortilla). The chicken was decent but not spectacular. The mala noodle was good on flavor (kudos for keeping the "ma" part intact) and probably the best part of the meal, but the rice noodle needs to be cooked 1-2 minutes less.

The gentlemen behind us who had a straight shot of her backside were completely enjoying. We asked her to please come to the end of the table so we could ask some questions about the food/menu. She copped an attitude and immediately turned into a snot nose. At that moment, we should have got up and moved to another food servers area, or left because it went from bad to worse. Enjoyed the delicious burgers but my guest ran out of water, mine glass was still full. I looked around for our server for several minutes and finally saw her heading our way with a water pitcher with very little water & oddly, no ice. She passed up the booth in front of us and came directly over to my glass, which was totally full to the brim, and sloppily poured water in causing it to overflow. Oddly she never filled my guest's "empty" glass. Perplexing to say the least. I turned to get her attention as she made a B line back to the kitchen, ignoring mine & the request of folks in the booth behind me. I glanced at my glass, and it was milky/cloudy looking with food particles swirling around in it. She apparently scooped up dirty dish water from the kitchen and brought it out to serve to me. Wow! Appalling behavior & extremely disturbing service. It takes a pretty heinous individual to do something so disturbing / horrific. Needless to say she received zero tip, clearly does not belong in the food serving industry. I tried contacting the pubs owner, Greg, to no avail.
