They asked the manager and they said no. We were denied service because we had a dog even though their website promotes they are dog friendly. My family and I were there 2 weeks ago. Good good and good service. The crispy calamari is good for starters. The New England Clam Chowder is creamy. The fish and chips do not disappoint. The French fries/ chips are excellent and to die for! Better than other restaurants. The server is courteous and listened to our requests. We were served promptly. We were in Coronado and wanted to grab a dinner and this place was close by and seemed nice so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away since it was before the dinner rush came in. The appetizer crab dip was nice. Good seasoning, a little bit of heat and the chips were still warm, a nice bonus point for that! A friend got a halibut dish and she really enjoyed it (no picture here). My other friend got a burger, he was not impressed saying that the burger didn't have much taste. I tried it and he was right. So, when you go out to eat, the server plays a big role in how the meal plays out. He started out very friendly, joking, but did not bring things out in a timely manner. Every other table around us had water service and we had to ask three times before we got the water. We were already on our main courses. The seafood was fresh and tasty, the sides were extremely salty and I love salt. I add salt, to salt! The scallop dish was on point with all the flavors blending wonderfully and they were cooked perfectly. The mahi was overdone where the cut was thinner. We also had requested a certain view which was not available when we got there, but instead of going to look to see if someone was leaving, the hostess sat us elsewhere. One of our party walked over to where we had wanted to sit and observed a table being cleared. So basically we had to scout our table for the special occasion we were celebrating. It was almost noon time and we were easily seated for 6 pax. Place was not full and were even made to choose our table. Our server Adriana was very pleasant, quick, efficient and attentive to our needs. The complementary freshly baked hot bread and butter was very good and replenished when requested. We had fish tacos, pan seared salmon, beer battered fish and chips, swordfish sandwich, and phoenix roll. Great happy hour spot! So many cocktails and food items to choose from. I was surprised at how large the shrimp was in the Firecracker Shrimp tacos! Really great flavor and would order again. My family of 5 went here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, and were very disappointed. First of all, this place is extremely loud. My husband remarked that it reminded him of a "cafeteria vibe" due to the noise level. it was impossible for my family to carry on a conversation. Dinner was disappointing as well. My halibut was overcooked, dry and tasteless, as were the vegetables. My granddaughter's swordfish was the same. We spent $40 each for these two meals alone. My other granddaughter had the prawns and linguine, which was mushy and contained just 4 shrimp. The best part of the meal was the sourdough bread, which was delicious. Bluewater has become our go-to place in Coronado. We have been several times for lunch. This was our first dinner. The place and the staff are always wonderful. The location is wonderful. Parking is easy, and free. Our favorites are their calamari and the clam chowder. Savannah was our server. She is wonderful. We expressed our appreciation to her manager, Sean, about Savannah. Hannah, my server was AMAZING as always . My dinner was incredible except for my New York strip tasted like there was no seasoning on it but that's what table salt is for !!! The two young girls at the check-in desk on the other hand need to find other work though! I made a reservation nine hours in advance, under special request section I asked for a window seat ! When I mentioned it to them if I will be able to have a window seat as requested , they both acted extremely bothered, annoyed and burdened, like the place was packed ( which it wasn't ) that included some eye rolling! They made no effort to fulfill my request , and when I asked the one that escorted me to my seat , about my request , all she could say was, " all the seats are first come first serve, reservations are so you don't have to wait" and sat me at booth that fits six ! ( I know I've been there dozen of times before) I was cordial and respectful the entire time, saying please and thank you, and they acted like they were overly inconvenienced by their job!!! sidenote I was there by myself for my birthday. The restaurant is located on beautiful Glorietta Bay in Coronado, CA, and just down the hill from the Hotel del Coronado. Our server was Gloria and my party had lots of questions for her about the food and how it was prepared. We also wanted to know what sauces were on a given menu item. She was on top of all of that. She also allowed us to sub an alternate side for the fries listed on the menu. When the amber ale that I had selected was not available Gloria suggested another that I was not familiar with, Bay City Peninsula Lager. When I hesitated to order it, she offered to bring a tasting sample for me. I understand that may be SOP but I was surprised and pleased to have the option to taste it before ordering. It was an excellent beverage choice for lunch. When our orders came, my lobster roll with fries was delayed 90 seconds to 2 minutes. I was mildly perturbed but she brings it to the table and announces that the chef asked that she delay the plate so he/she could place the hottest fries available on the plate. Kudos again to the staff. The food was delicious but my attention was on how well the staff, especially Gloria, took care of us. My brother wanted to know the market price for the crab. Many servers might have delayed answering before retreating to the kitchen to consult someone else. Gloria knew the answer and was able to discuss alternative ways of serving it. It was a terrific meal and experience and though, I do not frequent Coronado, I am looking forward to coming back to the Bluewater Grill. read more

Came for the Cedar Plank Salmon I've tried at the Carlsbad location but did not see it on the menu offered at Coronado. I could've asked but I didn't see it on the website either. I ordered the Gemelli Pasta, it was a large portion which came out hot and not strikingly flavorful which pesto usually is. Not the worst not the best. We also ordered Wagyu hamburger medium rare which was huge and tasty. Bathroom needs constant eye as TP was low and women were exchanging paper under the doors. Views were great.
