BlueStone is a lovely place. Really nice decor, staff always very helpful and friendly. The food is, I think, really good. Not sure what keeps it one notch down from great, but it never quite makes it over the top for me. (Although I did have the best asparagus ever there, and I don't even particularly LIKE asparagus.) But I go there a lot and I'm happy with the experience. I'm a fan of their version of calamari, and the chicken / avocado salad. The creamy crab and Maryland crab soups are both good. The Crisfield is a delightful seafood soup-sort-of-thing. Very nice. Great place to go for both lunch and dinner. read more

Really enjoyed my experience at Bluestone. The service was exceptional! The waiter to the hostess. We were seated right away. The restaurant was spotless clean!! The service was very nice. Since Blue Stone was participating in the Baltimore City Restaurant Week, several couples decided to go there for lunch. Unfortunately, the only menu posted on the Restaurant Week website was the dinner menu. I called several times and was assured that they would be also doing a lunch menu and to check back on their website to see it. They finally posted the lunch menu, and I called again to confirm that they were offering the lunch menu on Sunday, August 1, the date of our reservation. They said "Yes." My husband and I arrived first for our 12:30 pm reservation and were seated in a quiet room as we requested. Imagine our surprise when they handed us a dinner menu! My husband went to ask the hostess and was told that they only offer the dinner menu all day on Sunday. Our entire group was very disappointed. So, we cancelled the reservation and went somewhere else for lunch. We felt strongly if you are participating in Restaurant Week and offer a lunch and dinner menu, one should be able to order from the lunch menu at lunchtime. read more

We went (unintentionally) during Restaurant week. Aside from the wait staff being overwhelmed,the food was excellent. Our group started a beet salad,- excellently prepared, a Bluestone- baby greens with pecans, warm honey bacon and a honey mustard vinaigrette, and an arugula and goat cheese salad with a balsamic glaze. For our mains we had a mahi mahi served with a honey garlic glaze and shrimp- cooked to my version of fish perfection- cooked just about through but leaving the inside tender and moist. The rockfish stuffed with a crab cake (does it get more Maryland than that?) and lemon buster blanc sauce was yummy. Diver scallops on a risotto were also perfectly finished- seared outside and tender in the middle. Chicken Francaose came out crispy and the lemon wine flavors were well balanced. For dessert we all agreed it was one of the best crème brûlée we've ever had. Some places keep them in the fridge and they get almost like Jell-O consistency. This was light airy and really you could taste the vanilla. The Keylime pie was excellent and the chocolate mousse was good as well. This place takes new American food and always presents it in an original yet approachable fashion including elevated side dishes. They also have an excellent large enclosed patio, which is perfect for private events. The convenience of the location and parking certainly help. We decided to eat here unexpectedly on our anniversary after another restaurant in the area didn't work out. I'm glad we did. The food was really good. We had the calamari appetizer, my husband had the catch of the day which was a red snapper and I had the shrimp salad wrap with a side of asparagus. Calamari is excellent. The red snapper was great. Shrimp salad wrap was ok, not the best I've had. For dessert, I had the key lime pie. The pie itself was good but I could have done without the mango topping. The mango flavor is overpowering and kills the key lime flavor. I would go back again and try different items. It also would have been nice if they did something extra for us knowing we were there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary...those small gestures go a long way when it comes to good customer service. read more

Valentine's day dinner with my mom. The servers were very pleasant & attentive. We both ordered 2 of the White Cosmos. They were delicious! My Seabass was pretty yummy, cooked to perfection! We also had the seafood bake which we thought would be more like crab dip but it was tasty nonetheless. The complimentary bread was also very good!! and warm. The vibe was chill but in your reservation ensure to put seating preferences like a booth or if you'd like to be in the main dining area which looked much more desirable for a date or intimate dinner. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Vday Special for the Lobster Pasta. My mom still ordered it and asked to replace the Lobster with a crab cake. They still fully charged us for the crab cake. Fine. We were invited here for my Cousin's 60th Birthday party. I found out this is her favorite Restaurant. When I received my Invitation I immediately RSVP because I've had this place in my Bookmark for a while and was excited to attend. The restaurant is really nice, a cozy Log Cabin feel. She had a party of 22 and we were in a Private Dinning Room. We had our Special Menu to pick from and a Appetizer Table set up, with Caprese Flatbread Pizza, Seafood Bake and Fried Calamari. I had their Bluestone Salad, with a generous amount of Brownsugar Bacon on top, it was so good some of the best Bacon I've ever had. For entree I got the Tenderloin Filet with Mash Potato and Asparagus. The Steak was just ok, a little on the tough side. My Husband got the Crabcakes they were meaty and flavorful. The Staff was very friendly and attentive. I will be returning soon to try other menu items. read more

Service was 5 stars! Food was about 3.5 stars. I ordered half and half crab soup and crab dip. The soup was very flavorful and a good portion size, 5 stars. The dip was okay (3 stars), but I hated the heavily seasoned bread (0 stars). The bread was like extra old bay or cajun pita pieces. We didn't receive the complimentary bread, so I had to ask for it... the dip went better with the complimentary bread. My friend ordered buffalo chicken wontons. I tasted one wonton and it was very spicy. If you like spicy, you'll enjoy it. I'm not a spicy food lover, but I don't mind a little spice. The wontons were too much for me. My friend also ordered salmon, mashed potatoes and aspargus and said it was good. My favorite part (outside of the excellent wait staff service) was the black owned ice cream. Wow! Great place to go for date night dinner if you love seafood. Everything was so good I completely forgot to take pictures. New to their menu is a starter with 5 mini crab cakes served with a mustardy aioli. Really jumbo lumps of crab! My partner got the Pasta Diavolo, a pasta with a creamy red sauce, shrimp and scallops. Scallops are one of his all-time favorites and these were the best he's had outside of Scotland. I got the Goat cheese and arugula salad with chicken and cream of crab soup. The chicken was so juicy and tender, and beautifully seasoned! The salad was delicious, with toasted pine nuts and strawberries. I love cream of crab soup; this was a real winner. Just a hint of sherry and large lumps of crab. Our server was knowledgeable and fast. Everything, even the rolls, were delicious! Well yesterday we went back to Bluestone and made a reservation for 2 in the Atrium with Dennis as our server. Dennis is simply the best server. Their old menu is back and all the food from the fried green tomatoes and sesame tempura shrimp was excellent. Tara is a manager and always checks on us and is the best. Was greeted upon arrival and we all gathered around the bar area for happy hour til we were able to be seated. The servers were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The burrata salad with chicken added had the most amazing yellow and red tomato wedges and the dressing on the greens was outstanding. The chicken was moist and the burrata creamy! The BBQ chicken flatbread was enormous and absolutely delish. The Caesar salad was great, but even the small was large! We also had the Maryland crab soup that was exceptional. Bluestone is perfectly located not too far away from i83 and York Rd with ample parking and easy handicap accessibility. Upon entering the restaurant, a large half circle bar takes center stage with a bunch of high top tables, perfect for after work drinks. Beyond the bar, there are several seating areas with various table configurations with the ability to handle any group size. The decor is inviting, with plenty of ambient lighting and warm colors. When the restaurant was first built back in the 2000s, the vibe was very modern chic for it's time. However as years have progressed with little to no upgrades in the interior, it is beginning to show it's age and now considered a more classic, family dining atmosphere. Service: 5/5. The staff at Bluestone has always been a joy to dine with. On my most recent visit, I had a group of 8 birthday reservation that I called in a week in advance. The hostess was great at locking in my reservation, even with the restaurant being at capacity due to Maryland Restaurant Week coinciding with the dinner. During our visit at peak dining time on a Saturday night, our waitress did a great job tending to our table. Food came out punctually as well as drinks. When it was time to settle up on the bill, they had no problem splitting the check several ways. Food: 5/5. Time after time, Bluestone does a great job executing their elevated American fare menu. During my latest visit, it was Maryland Restaurant Week which gave diners the option to have a 3 course prix fixe meal for a discounted price. My group of 8 all participated in the Restaurant Week special, ordering various Bluestone menu staples. Big winners from the meal were the cream of crab soup, short rib main course, anything crab cake oriented and all 3 dessert options (chocolate mousse, key lime pie and creme brulee). I have only been to Bluestone a few times. I do like it here. Great atmosphere. Always fairly crowded when we come, but service is usually good. They have Sunday specials, so I decided to bring my parents here on a Sunday. They loved the value of getting three courses for a few dollars more than just the entree. My only issue with our Sunday dining experience was that the food temperature wasn't exactly to my standards. Many people don't seem to mind food that's not piping hot, but we are discriminating when it comes to the temp. I think it was because of the volume of food going out-they make some plates fast but as the food is waiting for the other dishes the easily prepared ones sit. So my plate wasn't cold, but just warm. Not cool enough for me to complain this time. Crab cakes were tasty-they go have a mustard zing. They were great to allow for substations of veggies for my parents who don't like sprouts. Salads are fresh and tasty. My husbands salmon was very good. My dad loved his seafood plate. We will come again. read more

We were greeted with a matter-of-fact question of "How can I help you" in a stern manner, as if we were there to repair the roof. Uuuhhhh... it's a restaurant and we are here for dinner so the appropriate question should have been "two for dinner tonight? Or just simply how many in your party? Or table or bar seating? We were taken back by the unwelcoming attitude. Other than that aspect of the dining experience it was okay. I went in for lunch to BlueStone one day on my own to try it out. It's a very spacious restaurant and I was sat right away. Afterwards, it seemed like it took quite a while for a server to make it over to even great me. This was during a slower time (late mid day). Since I'm a server, while not thrilled, I gave the benefit of the doubt. Eventually, a server came over and took my order. I already had known what I wanted to get, which was the Branzino. The fish came pan seared with a couscous salad featuring spinach, arugula, red grapes, onions, peppers, and a white balsamic vinaigrette. The dish seemed to fall flat to me flavor wise. Nothing about it really stood out. Everything was just okay, nothing great. I had heard wonderful things about the fish there from people and was excited to try it. That being said, it just didn't match my expectation. Once the server did come over she did a good job. Based on my experience, I just was not super thrilled about my experience. There was even a big tivi-monitor in the room, which was nice but we did not use it. There was a cheese bar outside of the room that was ready for us! But they even brought it in to our table for us! They brought us a lot of appetizer that I even couldn't count or remember, and I was so full before touching the main menu! As we reserved for the table, they gave us a nice printed menu with choices of "appetizer, main dish and dessert". Apptizer selection : caesar salad or blue stone salad. Main dish selection: crab cake, filet, salmon or veggies stirfire. Dessert selection: got brownie, eggnog creme brulee, or key lime pie All of the food was very good. Came here with some friends on a Wednesday night. The place is pretty large and was busy! We asked about happy hour and they let us know they weren't doing it anymore (bummer). The short - we enjoyed the food but not the drinks. Food - for apps we had the cream of crab soup, calamari, and shishi cauliflower. All were delicious! The portion of calamari was large for the price and fried to perfection. Couldn't get enough of the cauliflower! I had the steak salad (pregnant, so didn't get my steak cooked to the level I normally would and had to skip the brandy vinaigrette which sounded delicious) but I still really enjoyed it! Plenty of bleu cheese and the balsamic vinaigrette had a great flavor. My friend had the chicken avocado salad and holy sh*t the bacon on this salad was a highlight of the whole meal! It was amazing. Brown sugar bacon I think it was. My husband got two way tuna with crab fried rice and died for it. It came with cucumber wasabi...yeshhh yum!! I didn't drink (preg) but got a lemonade mocktail and did not like it at all. My husband tried two different cocktails and said they both were a miss. This place was absolutely beautiful. However, I came for a birthday dinner and it took over an hour for anything food to come out. We sat in one of the private rooms and we only had one server. Personally I think there should have been another person to help her out, maybe this caused the delay in food. I ordered the cream of crab for an appetizer and it was good, however it came out lukewarm as if it had been sitting. I also ordered the mahi-wahi for my entree (I replaced the rice with roasted potatoes) and it was okay. The asparagus and potatoes were well seasoned however the mahi was absolutely terrible. It was dry, unseasoned, and it came with no sauce. For as long as I waited for the food, I expected it to be spectacular. It was not. Maybe a bad night?? read more

Bottom Line: A nice seafood restaurant with polished staff in an unexpected location. After going to the Maryland Home and Garden show at the fair grounds, which was a total bust, we decided to recover our Saturday by going for a nice lunch. I found BlueStone on Yelp and off we went. The location is a bit odd since BlueStone is effectively a nice restaurant in a business park, but that was ok by us. Parking was plentiful and the restaurant had a nice looking exterior. We arrived shortly before lunch time and we were quickly seated in the back dining room. The Maryland inspired menu was full of seafood dishes that all sounded very appetizing. I decided to go big with the Seafood club consisting of a fried crabcake, shrimp salad and bacon. My husband had The Crisfield which was a tomato broth full of fish, shrimp and mussels with a crusty piece of bread on the side. I consider the Crisfield to be the Cioppino of Maryland . . . maybe even better than what San Francisco is serving. Our waitress's name was Courtney, just like me, so she got bonus points from the start. She had a trainee with her so more bonus points because you know you're going to get great service. Both Courtney and her trainee were friendly, acknowledgement and attentive. I appreciate that the manger came by to check on us as well. The interior of the restaurant is a bit contemporary but elegant. But not too elegant that we felt out of place in nice shirts and jeans. I think for dinner I would dress up a bit more than I did for lunch. On my next trip to BlueStone I think I will consider sitting in the bar, which I believe is called the Tavern. What I didn't know about BlueStone is they are well known for hosting private events. Unfortunately we got the noise overflow from a bridal shower so we kinda rushed through our meal to get out of there. On the way I out I noticed the deserted bar would have been much quieter!
