We went for the happy hour fondue. What a great value and amazing experience! We ordered prime rib along with several other accompaniments for the fondue. Turned out to be way too much food, but we enjoyed all of it! The setting is in a large space with a central fire place; beautiful place. There is also outdoor seating but I found the inside to be so lovely. The server was friendly and we had an amazing time there.
I loved my meal here. It was a Thursday in July around 9am, and they seated my party of 7 promptly near a relaxing fireplace. I'm gluten free and had tons of options. I split the Soufflé Pancakes and Classic French Omelette with my husband. The pancakes were excellent and fluffy and so cute! The omelette was good particularly the mushrooms. The hashbrowns were the talk of the table and funnily looked like French toast sticks. They seemed to forget the double poached eggs on top of the Avocado Toast and brought them separately. Nevertheless it was reviewed positively. The matcha latte with oat milk was also very good.
Truly excellent meal. I only have prime rib about once a year but had a craving for it. 10 oz medium rare cut was perfect. Very savory seasoning. Served with au jus and horseradish cream. Had sides of roasted carrots and French fries. Salads were also very good. Servings large enough to share. Server was super friendly and efficient. The restaurant is very attractive with indoor and outdoor tables.
Food was alright, but it was really disappointing to pay $50-$100 per plate and have bad service. Took 25 mins to get our food upon ordering, and the waiter did not come by often. Portion sizes are small for the price.
I've never had fondue during happy hour so this was the perfect opportunity to order it! The happy hour menu has a nice variety of cocktails and food items. The fondue came with potatoes, cornichons, and bread cubes. We ordered a salad, fries, and the prime rib, perfectly cooked to a medium rare. The food was delicious. Our server was delightful. He did his best to make our time enjoyable. The restaurant had such a warm rustic vibe. We had a lovely evening.
My wife and I had reservations here and it was our first dinner and our first night in Banff! I was looking forward to coming to this restaurant because of the pictures and the ambience and I'm glad we sat next to the little fireplace. Definitely a great spot for a date night dinner. Food here was amazing.. For our appetizers, we ordered the mushrooms with chicken skin and that was absolutely amazing side dish. We paired this with the Alberta prime rib. The waitress also recommended the hashbrowns, but I thought they were OK.. The prime rib was really juicy and it was a big cut. Delicious, nonetheless. Prior to ordering our food we had a few drink drinks. And just a little feedback the waitress was a little pushy and kept asking us if we were ready to order our food when we mentioned we would let her know a few times. She seemed like a hard worker maybe she was just doing her job and that's her normal gig. Other than that, we had a great time here! The vibe checks out. Oh I almost forgot to mention the scallops here are amazing! I highly recommend this appetizer!
Nice ambiance, cozy and has a patio area for the summer season. The staff is friendly, they clarify things to ensure your order is right . The Benny eggs where very good, but there wasn't enough hollandaise so we had to order an extra side. The prime rib toast was simply delicious. I'll come back again! :)
My friend and I were eager to try Canadian beef and decided to eat at Bluebird for dinner. The restaurant is really cozy. I felt like I was in a high end log cabin lol. Service was great - Our server Daws, an Australian guy, was super friendly and checked in on us often. I got the classic prime rib cut with sides of asparagus, cheesy mashed potatoes, and mushrooms. The beef was juicy, tender, and perfectly cooked. It paired well with the au jus and horseradish crème. Sides were all tasty. We thought the crispy chicken skin on the mushrooms gave it a nice crunchy texture. Lastly, we got a key lime pie to go and it blew my mind. I never get anything lemony or limey because the taste is usually overpowering... but the key lime curd is super lowkey, rich, and creamy.
My fiancé surprised me with a Banff trip and booked this restaurant for dinner. It's a bit congested upon arrival, but love the atmosphere. I like how they hang your jacket so you can sit comfortably. Our server is Dylan and he was so attentive and helpful for being first timers. All the food and drinks were delicious. I hate that we were so full for desert, but I want to visit and order desserts next time. Highly recommend.
Favorite meal in Banff!! Incredible happy hour, the fondue is a must. Lots of add-on's for dipping in the delicious cheese, our favorites were the hash browns. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and pre-sliced, the seasoning was spot on. Wide variety of drinks, and great deals during happy hour. Vibes were A++ and staff is super friendly and attentive. The food here was delicious and they had some unique dishes on their menu. Below is what we ordered: french onion soup -- this was so delicious and a great way to start our meal. The crispy cheese on the edge was the best part! 45-day aged porterhouse -- this was prepared perfectly and was so good! Definitely one of the best steaks I've had at a restaurant. broccolini -- perfected roasted and was a solid side. rosemary fries -- these were SO good and fried to perfection. I highly recommend getting this! roasted savory cabbage & chimichurri -- the flavors were so unique and I recommend this if you like cabbage. The sauce was absolutely delicious! key lime pie -- this was definitely the star of the show! This was the BEST key lime pie I've ever had and I'd even consider ordering this for takeout the next time I'm in Banff! It got pretty busy here during dinner time and it took a long time for our food to arrive; we easily waited upwards of 30-40 minutes for our food. Our server was great about updating us on the status of our food and we appreciated the dessert that he comp'ed since the food was taking longer than usual. Overall, I recommend Bluebird if you're looking to have a fancy dinner while in Banff.
Came here for our fancy honeymoon dinner night and left bummed with the outcome. We got the 12oz prime rib I believe it's called Bluebird Cut and the BC Sablefish. Could not seem to grasp what exactly was off but out food was simply not good. It lacked flavor, and the flavor it did have was just extremely odd and not very great. The creamy doughnuts were not terrible. The service was good, but unfortunately this meal was terrible. I would say this was definitely the worst meal we had in banff and would not go back, especially because when paying these prices you would expect better of the food. I'm sure there is better steak and fish in town.
The medium rare tenderloin was done really well -- tender and flavorful. Service was great too. Solid choice if you're in the area and want a good steak night.

Everything's pretty pricy there but it's Banff so. The steak was good, it had a nice char and was cooked to a nice medium rare and nicely tender. The broccolini had an amazing char on it. It was perhaps the best thing I had there. The hash browns were just fried potatoes nothing too bad or good on it. The ambiance was very nice as well. read more

Just skip the steak and you'll be fine. Don't be fooled by the picture of this bone in ribeye. It says prime grade and Canadian beef etc etc but the steak was very chewy, fat wasn't rendered properly and a lot of it was connective tissue and stuff. We could only eat 50% of it, the rest of it was dog food quality and I'm not even a steak snob. Service and the sides were great. They did discount 50% of it but I'd have ordered something else had I known before or some other reviewers mentioned steak was below average. Literally there is nothing 'restaurant' quality about this steak, not even flavor let alone the chewiness. If they are serving steak so rubbery and chewy like this they should probably sharpen their steak knives which were so blunt It was too late for us to go out and eat somewhere else so we ate protein bars and milk so we don't go hungry to bed. The 3 stars is mainly for service, ambience and because management was gracious enough to discount 50% of the steak. read more

Awesome food, service and atmosphere. Our server, Gabriel, was amazing especially to my nephew with special needs and even showed some magic tricks... Out of the many restaurants we've tried, this was our first to have all the staff sign a birthday card for me... that was so thoughtful! read more
Crab Caesar salad - this was satisfactory but not outstanding Shrimp scampi - the shrimp was perfectly seasoned, but the sauce could have been a little saltier (for when dipping bread) Bone in ribeye - delicious and cooked to right temperature (medium-rare) Maitake mushrooms - the sauce was rather sweet Key lime pie - too much of the top layer but the key lime part was on point read more

Our party of 3 had a fun and delicious dinner here. At the better places in Banff, you should make a reservation and that's what I did here for a 6:15pm slot as prime times disappear readily around here. We decided to have everything family style so we could sample every dish. We started with a butterleaf salad and their cheesy donuts for appetizers. For the mains, we ordered the West Coast halibut, a 10 oz prime rib, and a 20 oz bone-in ribeye. The meats default to a medium rare temperature unless otherwise specified and that was perfect for us. This is a unique wood-fired steakhouse and you could taste it in the steak and it was a little different and also delicious. Everything we had was excellent, as one might expect here, except for the halibut which was disappointingly not moist and tender, was either a bit overcooked or maybe previously frozen. For that, I'll go with 4 instead of 5 stars. We finished with a slice of their key lime pie which our server Kate said was voted by locals as the best pie in Banff. It was a denser than average rendition and decent I would say but not the best ever for us, just saying. With the exchange rate where we get about a 25% discount, the pricing here in Banff for premium dining turns out to be in very reasonable range for us in USD's despite being in a very touristy town. My wife and I wanted to have a steak dinner before we left. A few locals and tourist recommended this place. We are glad we listened because the food was amazing. We had the 10oz ranchers ribeye, cheesy mash potatoes, grilled broccolini and the shrimp appetizer. The waitress, Morgan, was very nice and helpful. The location is warm and inviting. Back to the food, the shrimp was amazing along with the potatoes but the star of the night was the steak. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and extremely tender. I have had steaks in many restaurants and this steak is up there with the best of them. If you are in the area, this is a good steakhouse. read more

Restaurant was recommended to us by a tour guide and we couldn't be happier with it! The ambiance was so cozy and warm. It was a perfect getsway from the chilly weather. The service was excellent and so pleasant (Ash was the best)! All the food choices were so succulent and rich!! We still can't get over the entire meal and it's been hours. And the cherry on top was sweet birthday card surprise when we got to the restaurant. Thank you to the staff for making our experience so lovely! read more

Very nice restaurant with fondue as an option. We read fondue was a speciality here in Banff so we wanted to try it. Our server (as all servers here was very friendly and helpful) she helped us but there was only one fondue with cheeses options but what you dip in it had options! We split a pot of fondue and a salad with two beers and we were full! read more

The cutest cozy cottage style restaurant with an excellent menu! We went during the winter for a Saturday brunch. They have a really nice patio but it was covered in snow, so likely a great summer spot. Service was above & very helpful on menu recommendations! This is our second time to Banff but first time here, however we will for sure be back each time we visit. Their dinner service menu looked really good & we knew a couple that ate there & really enjoyed it. You absolutely have to try the cheesy doughnuts for an appetizer! read more
Super bummed to give such a low rating as I had handpicked this spot for a celebratory meal and the food just did not live up to expectations. Bluebird touts its prime rib, yet it was extremely mediocre. Another reviewer nailed it - was overdone in parts, but right in others. Overall, lukewarm. I think I was most disappointed in how fatty it was though. I like a bit of fat, but I did not get a good cut of meat and it was just gristly. I've had better prime rib at all you can eat buffets sadly. I have to agree with other reviewers that there is just a massive miss when it comes to flavor on all their food. The cheesy mash had no cheese in it??? The horseradish was SO bland. Service also missed the mark. I did not appreciate that our server kept trying to upsell us every point of our meal. She started things off by saying we should get 2 apps, 2 mains, and 2 sides. The meat itself and one side to share was already plenty! Then at dessert, she was relentless in trying to push something on us, even asking if we'd like liquid dessert (coffee, tea, dessert wine) instead. It just felt odd and off-putting given that we were already spending good money there. Overall, I would give Bluebird a miss given the better options in the area! read more
We came here to eat after running the Banff half marathon. We actually had a reservation at a different spot but they told us they stopped serving brunch at 12pm and recommended Bluebird. Well they don't have brunch past 12pm either, but they did have a few breakfast items on the menu. I got the eggs Benedict. It was really good. I like that the ham was more shredded than a thick slap like a lot of places. Hash browns had the perfect crispiness. I also got the hard coffee which was so good. I ended up buying some at a liquor store later in the trip. Service was friendly and we got seated right away without a wait. I'd put this between 4.5-5 stars and rounding up. I'd come back and would love to try more of their menu items. read more

I told my family that I wanted eggs, bacon and a pancake for brunch and this is exactly what I received! We were able to sit on the patio as the weather was beautiful! It was one of the best pancakes I have ever had. It was called a soufflé pancake and it was thick but so light. It also had a lemon flavor and was just delicious! My son had the Croque Madam dish and my husband had the Philly cheesesteak. I would highly recommend this spot for a yummy brunch! read more
Was able to do walk in for brunch twice (group of 4 on a weekday). Service is great - friendly and food wait time was moderate. Love the aesthetic - gives a mix of vintage and modern vibes. All dishes that were filling. My favorite were their version of hash browns, they were extra crunchy which is right up my alley. My friend enjoyed their oatmeal, she even considered ordering it again on our second visit. But we both ended up ordering their pancakes, which came out quite fluffy and not too sweet (which we like!). We also ordered a side of fruits which was a nice touch with the pancakes. Amazing breakfast. We said it was our favorite meal while in banff. The classic French omelette was awesome and well cooked and my husband loved the prime rib toast. The bluebird colada was fantastic and we hope to recreate it at home. Service was good & place was clean with nice bathrooms! read more
This was probably my favorite place that we ate in Banff. We actually ended up cancelling one of our other reservations to eat here again! For the appetizer we had the cheesy donuts both times because they were absolutely delicious. It came with 4 and they are quite small, so it's a fine portion for 2-4 people. For the main meal we both had steaks the first night. My husband had the medium sized prime rib and I had the filet. The steaks were cooked perfectly and delicious. The next time I had the green pea gnocchi. It needed some salt in my opinion, but the gnocchi itself was really good! On the side we had the hash browns which we loved, and also the snap peas. I am not someone to seek out snap peas generally, but they came over a nice sauce. Finally for dessert the move is to get the key lime pie. I also tried something like a brownie sundae, but the key lime pie was better! It's probably one of my top key lime pies ever. Maybe the best I have had. I love that they give plenty of the topping on it too, and the crust is fantastic. My husband usually avoids the crust of a key lime pie, but he actually was eating the backside of the pie where there is the most crust. Wild. Also their strawberry daiquiri is fantastic. read more

It was so good we had it 3 times during our stay in Banff. Great atmosphere paired with delicious food and amazing scenery, what could be better? The prime roast and steaks are cooked to perfection, nice woody and beefy flavors. Their breakfast selections are fantastic as well. All the dishes are very well balanced. The salads have a nice vinaigrette that cuts the fattiness of the mains while the mains pack a punch of flavor. Definitely come here to relax and enjoy a delicious meal! This is a breakfast review as I haven't had lunch or dinner here. Hands down one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Eggs cooked just right (which surprisingly is hard to find!). The hashbrowns are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Get the rubarb jam with your toast. You won't regret it. Soufflé pancake is out of this world with hints of orange in it - bonus it's gluten free if you have sensitivities. Even the maple syrup tastes superior. Ordered the Caesar's (they are not on the menu but ask for them). We wanted to try them because it is Canadas version of a Bloody Mary and was on every menu. It blows any Bloody Mary I've ever had out of the water. Prime rib toast just melts in your mouth with flavor and textures and juices. Even the champagne vinaigrette on the salad made my mouth water. Every single bite was heavenly. Service was amazing. Ambiance is so awesome. We are so happy we came here. After going to Farm & Fire, and not being greeted by a server for almost 15 min, we walked out and came here instead. So happy we did! Can't wait to come back. read more

Everything went well here. Both times I sat at the bar. Party of 1, single female wanting some yummy food. Night 1 I ordered the fondue with the price rib. It was ok. The customer service was not ok...it was excellent. I came back the following night. It happened to be new years eve. You needed reservations everywhere practically. I'm winging life when I travel solo, so I went in with hope in my heart. The hostesses/ managers pretty much turned me away and explained why, but my face must've dropped or a miracle took place cuz one of them made it happen! I had a set time to devour my food n libations, for that bar seat upstairs was booked. I ate what I came for, and discovered what a Ceasar is. The bartender up top was the best. He made the most delicious Ceasars, had it all under control up top with no barback or help. His customer service made me wish I had another day in Banff, cuz I wudda came back. I highly recommend this place! Ps: thank you to those ladies up front who let me come eat on NYE, even though I was dressed like a lil lumberjack, not cute like all the other patrons. Yum. This spot is wonderful and absolutely beautiful inside. We didn't have the best experience - but we also had a wonderful one. Let me explain. It's recently opened - within the last month and they're still working on things - but the inside is gorgeous. Very well done. It's got a large and beautiful bar inside, wonderful seating and ambiance, a ton of tables, and a nice outdoor patio with fire pit tables. Upstairs is another bar and entertaining area with more seating, a large room for parties, an open space looking into the downstairs below and fireplace, and two more beautiful bathrooms. The menu is mostly beef, steak and prime rib. Prices are high - like $40 for an entree with no sides. So think more fancy steakhouse. We stopped in for our anniversary and asked to be seated outside on the patio at one of the fire pit tables. While not the plan, they easily accommodated us and gave us the last available tables outside and then adjusted the fire for us. Shortly after our waitress came over who was very friendly and polite. We chose the TOMATO SALAD - with chickpeas, parsley, mint, and sesame for $18CAD. Next, we went with the CACIO E PEPE MAC & CHEESE - with pecorino, butter, and black pepper for $22CAD. Lastly, we chose Prime Rib ENGLISH CUT - 10oz thin sliced for $49CAD. We also wanted the side order of roasted carrots but they were sold out, bummer. Food was out pretty quickly and the tomato salad was good - but not $18 good, the cacao e Pepe was wonderful and delicious but had no pepper so I had to ask for some fresh grated pepper on it, and the prime rib was awful. We saw "thin-sliced" and thought this might mean less fat. I understand some people love to chew on absolute fat on meat but this disgusts me. I'd say our $49 cut of prime rib was at least 65% pure gristle and fat. I took one bite and was out. My husband, the same. We informed our waitress that we wouldn't be eating it and gave it back to her and finished our other items. Since the menu was limited and we didn't want more red meat, we decided to settle up and go elsewhere for something light to finish the night. When the bill was presented - we were told the tomato salad had been removed for our trouble - but the prime rib we took two very small bites of, had not. My husband asked to speak to the manager when the server said she'd have to discuss it with them. She came over and was immediately apologetic, said of course they'd made a mistake and would remove it and were so sorry they'd love to make us anything else at no charge. This was wonderful. We didn't allow it but said thank you and she proceeded to make small talk with us for the next 10 minutes or so about Banff and hiking and bears. Such a sweet gal and a wonderful reaction to the situation. I was highly impressed both with the decor, but also the staff and how this was handled. I have no doubt they will be successful with that mindset. Although it didn't work out for us - the food we did enjoy was delicious and I would come back and give them another chance in an instant. read more

Was visiting Banff and went here for my birthday brunch! The food was amazing with my favorite being the eggs benedict. I liked how you could order just one of the soufflé pancakes (I couldn't commit to a full plate of them). The interior is cozy, relaxed, and comfy! Would recommend this place although I only went for breakfast! read more
