I brought my husband here to celebrate his birthday and we had a lovely time. We were seated outside with a view of the water (and ugly industrial NJ), but it was still nice to see the sun set and listen to some good old tunes (Sinatra, Etta James...). The ambiance was nice (minus the mosquitoes that attacked right as the sun set). We ordered the goat cheese and scallop purses which were both delicious. We shared an arugula salad with our dinner entrees (SUCH a tasty salad), he got the "love letters" and I got the flounder. We both really enjoyed our meals, but we found his to be a bit too much on the salty side. We were too stuffed for a proper dessert, but pushed ourselves to get some chocolate mousse, since we were there to celebrate his birthday. And that was scrumptious! The worst thing I ordered was the Azul margarita- super weak and not too flavorful. I might recommend sticking to wines/liquor. Drinks are nowhere near as good as they are at Bayou. The servers were all really nice and attentive. We definitely plan on coming back for more. Definitely check it out! read more

I dined here the other day for the first time with some of my family. Overall, the food was pretty good, the service was decent, the ambience and decor of the restaurant are nice. I'm basing this review in comparison to other Mediterranean cuisine I've had, so it makes it a bit more difficult to just give this place 5 stars. 3 stars because they didn't have a couple of things I was looking forward to eating but they were out of for that day. Also, I didn't really like their breaded lamb chops, they were so oily and not well done as requested. Anyhow, I'd probably give this place another chance. I had a bad experience at beso so I should have known better than to go to blue. I figured I would give it a chance being that it is a new establishment. There were seats available and it took about 15 minutes to get seated in addition 25 minutes to be seen that we contemplated getting up and walking out. Just as I stood up the server came over. Not once were we told about the specials and service was very, I mean very slow. My boyfriend ordered the calms over spaghetti and I got octupus. We both got sick when we got home from the food. Not so great experience. One star for the view of the water and its romantic feel. read more

I definitely recommend just ordering appetizers because there are so many good ones to try. I have had the thai caesar salad, the wonton scallops, the grilled octopus, the clams, the spicy beef satay and crab fritters. All were really good, my favorite being the wonton scallops and my least favorite being the grilled octopus. I thought the thai caesar salad was inventive and delicious. came to blue last night to celebrate my brother in laws new job! We started off with the Thai calamari which was lightly breaded and out of this world delicious. We also had the mussels which had feta and sausage crumbles in the sauce, which was delicious. We just kept dipping the bread and pita in the sauce! We had the pork medallions with risotto which may have been my favorite entree! We also got th brisket which was good as well. The risotto was so delicious and cheesy! Over the years I have been in blue many times and always liked their food. Spacious seating , location is some of the pluses. Everything is excellent. Service, food and atmosphere. But... This is the second time (last time at Bayou) I called ahead to see if I needed reservations. The hostess said walk ins are welcomed. So when we got there it was fairly empty and fifteen minutes later the hostess proceeds to tell us that they have reservations coming in at 8pm so we would have to be out by 8. It was 6pm when we got there. Now I understand sometimes customers like to sit and hang out all night Mind you it was a Wednesday night and a family of four. Trust me, we didn't plan on eating for two hours. But they did the same thing when I went to Bayou. I find it rude. If I ever go back I know to make reservations. read more

The renovations made to the place are really quite beautiful. The service this time (our second) was MUCH better than the first time we visited this restaurant over the summer. Maybe they've changed their reservation policy, but we had no problem making a reservation for 2 on a Friday night. However, the food just isn't that good. Which is disappointing because we do so enjoy Beso and Bayou. Goat Cheese Wontons - the marmalade they were placed in was really sweet and syrupy - which would've been lovely against the tang of the goat cheese, however, the wontons tasted like they were filled with ricotta ravioli filling. Sesame Tuna - was bland, eh. My husband and I both had the ribeye which was incredibly incredibly salty. To the point of almost too salty to eat. The tri-color potatoes were tasty, particularly the sweet and blue potatoes, but again they were also really salty. The wildflower cocktail was delicious. Your dinner is better spent at Bayou or Beso, they seem to have a better handle on the cuisine they are attempting. read more

Awesome gem on Staten Island! Sit out on the beautiful outdoor terrace and watch the tugboats go by, it's simply gorgeous out there. The wait staff is excellent, the food delicious. Lots of vegetarian options. I highly recommend the avocado carpaccio and the blue vegetable terrine. Yum! read more

I visited Blue for the first time this past week and was really pleased with the food, ambiance and overall service. This is a great date night restaurant! The food selection was fantastic. There were plenty of seafood options with really unique creations. There appetizer selection was great and offered an abundance of great choices. The ambiance was really nice. The room was dimly lit and since we were fortunate enough to sit by the window, we were able to look out on the water and see the ships go by. For someone not from Staten Island, it was interesting to see. The servers were knowledgeable and friendly and came over to check on us frequently. Went for Valentine's this year & last year. I wasn't thrilled with the food. I got a Thai themed app & I'm pretty sure the sauce was Trader Joe's sweet chili sauce. I had the seafood pappardelle, & I found the sauce too salty too eat. My husband switched with me-he had no issues with my dish. I went for lunch...amazing! They sat us outside, very peaceful and relaxing. The goat cheese wontons were great. My lamb burger was delish, the bun was soft and flaky. Zucchini fries were crispy. Well my husband and I decided to go out on a Wednesday night date. We decided to go to Blue. We were seated immediately. When we were presented the menu we noticed the menu had changed and were very limited. For appetizers we ordered clams which I thought were going to be sauteed in a broth or sauce but when they reached our table they were essentially baked clams...very disappointed. We also ordered a beetsalad with goat cheese. Now I would expect some greens on the plate but instead it was sliced beets with some basil and a blob of goat cheese in the middle. Now you know how pungent the goat cheese is and I feel it should be used sparingly. For my entree I ordered a lamb burger. Which was very gamey. Lamb should be well seasoned with garlic ,black pepper, thyme. Red wine and worchester sauce. All n all a very disappointing menu. On the bright side the waiter was fantastic!We use to come here regularly but sadly we need to move on. read more

Dinner at Blue felt as if we were being transported to the Mediterranean for the night. The atmosphere & ambience are perfect for a date night or a comfortable dinner with family/friends. We didn't have reservations, so just hung out at the bar for 15 minutes before a table was ready. Since I wasn't drinking that night, the bartender offered to make a virgin mojito. It was delicious! I can't wait to try the regular mojito next time. Our waiter for the night was Paulo. I couldn't have asked for a better waiter! His menu suggestions were terrific, always polite & seemed to appear whenever we needed him. The whole staff at Blue was courteous & very professional. We started out with the grilled Octopus as an appetizer. The Octopus was fresh and very flavorful, so glad we tried this dish. For the entrees, I chose the Surf & Turf (Filet Mignon & Shrimp) while my husband chose Lamb chops. The shrimp was succulent & my Filet Mignon was soft and juicy. My husband had no complaints about his dish either. We chose the Tiramisu & decaf Cappacino for dessert. The Tiramisu was the perfect way to end the night, absolutely delicious. This is one of the best restaurants on the Island. Excellent food, I couldn't get enough. Same goes for their service. We had Thai calamari and burrata ( never had a better one anywhere else) for appetizers; grilled bronzini and shrimp strangoloni for our entries. Cucumber mojitos are awesome, one advice is ask for less ice and more liquor, it's a bit weak. read more

Great place for a romantic date night! If you're fortunate enough to snag a table outdoors, the view and atmosphere is one of the nicest on the Island. Food wise, the menu is varied and original. The flounder topped with crabmeat and served with a ginger fried rice on the side was perfect. Also enjoyable are the unique cocktails, specifically the orange Fizz Martini. For Dessert, the three Gelatos were a little bit disappointing as it had some pieces of ice in it. The service was attentive without being annoying and not rushed, despite the long list of waiting diners. Jeff, the manager, always friendly and welcoming, will make sure you enjoy your meal. Tonight I visited Blue for the first time. All my friends had been raving about it, especially this "clam bake" special on Sundays ,so we decided to give it a try... Boy was everyone impressed. We came with two other couples and sat at a lovely spacious table. The gentleman who took care of us was friendly, fun and informative. He recommended a great wine for me and an even better cocktail for my wife. All the other waitresses that stopped by our table to clear a dish, or ask if we needed a refill on our drinks were super friendly and the decor was gorgeous. They have really fixed up the place since it was Tuggs. The clam bake was excellent. What a deal! 3 course meal with lobster for $25... Sign me up!!! Overall a great experience. I've been to Blue a few times now. Every time I go I've tried something different. And every time the food has been really great! Service-Perfect. You couldn't ask for a better staff. Very attentive and fast. The food also comes out very fast from the kitchen. Bar-Full bar. They make mixed drinks well. They have an above par beer selection and a great wine list. Kitchen-Very fast as I said earlier. The food has been consistently great for me. I recommend the goat cheese wontons though. So good. But everything I've had here (which is a lot) is great. Price-Not too expensive. But not cheap. For dinner your bill can grow quickly. especially if you like to drink a lot like me. Atmosphere-Clean, elegant but not snobby. Casual and homey.
