Must say, I love the Timaruse and Avocado Sushi. We stopped here for some healthy gourmei type of fancy restaurant. Felt like family when we had a warm welcome inside. Pizza was good here. The only thing that I really liked about this place was that it was quiet and it had seating available. Unfortunately I only brought a credit card so my friend has to pay for my meal because only he had cash. It's not often that you go to a restaurant that doesn't accept credit cards. I had a lox and cream cheese wrap and an avocado sushi roll with brown rice. I have had the same lox and cream cheese wrap elsewhere and it tasted much better. But it was nice that they have an option to have a whole wheat wrap. The sushi was disgusting and mushy. The rice tasted wet. I hate sushi like that. To me good quality fresh sushi the rice isn't wet and mushy. And to add to that I thought there should have been more avocado in the sushi, and less rice. Plus they charged extra for brown rice, which is not something I am used to paying extra for. They add a 10% gratuity to the bill as well. Not a fan of places who do that. And my friend wanted to leave a tip because he thought he should tip more but the waiter was like that's ok don't bother. Maybe I came during a weird time. The lighting was dim, the store had a funky smell to it, and things looked kinda..filthy. Looked like I was more likely to get murdered than get food. Great staff, very nice and friendly, there also a cafe and offer food which is nice. The place is not too big but it wasn't really busy neither when I had went. They offer lots of different flavor types of ice cream and shakes, they also have vegan, kosher and non dairy products which is cool. I had me a nice pistachio milkshake and it was so good. It was tasty and smooth and had a nice crunch from the peanuts in it. Only thing is that it cost me $6.00 and it wasn't even a big cup! So that was my only down fall. Scoops has SO much more than ice cream, but their ice cream is delicious too... and guess what? They have VEGAN ICE CREAM! I think this is the only place on Staten Island that has vegan ice cream. Chocolate, butter pecan, and much more. They make all of their foods fresh. They bake FRESH BAGELS every day. The man that runs Scoops is super nice, so if you have a preference, he'll make what you want for you. They do juices, smoothies, breakfast, salads, paninis, wraps, and Mediterranean dishes. Their food is cheap. You can get a full meal for under $10. It's local, it's yummy, it's personable. Nice place, delicious food. The mozzarella sticks were the best I've ever tasted, made with fresh cheese, not the dried version. Out of this world. Also had avocado sushi and eggplant parmesan, which were both very good. Very pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff. Not fancy, but good food and owners seem like nice people. We also have the iced vanilla frappe...OMG I don't know what they put in this (I think it's real vanilla bean) but it tastes amazing, like a milkshake!
