Stopped by after my daughter's basketball game. Got a warm welcome and even got the eat I requested. I was in full view of the oven where they make the hot bread that's to die for. I had the virgin mojito. Refreshing and not too sweet. My dinner choice. The lamb chops opted for fries and not rice. They were cooked to perfection and seasoned well. My husband had the Mix Pide. A thick-crust pide loaded with chopped beef, Turkish beef sausage, vegetables, mozzarella cheese and spices. The portions are generous and the staff all work well together and they check in frequently. The best part it does not break the bank. This was my 3rd time and they have been consistent each time. Added to rotation.

Small smoked salmon sandwich with red onion, capers and SOUR CREAM accompanied by seasoned ice cold fries and cold hot coffee.

Tried Opera Cafe Lounge Staten Island today for Father's Day breakfast for the first time. Have to say we weren't impressed to say the least. Waiter was so sweet and tried so hard updating us on breakfast order. Only half the order came out at first after a considerable wait. Had to wait at least 20 min for rest of order to be brought to the table. "Kitchen and coffee stations were behind". That's what we were told. Mind you, it really wasn't THAT busy and how long does it take to make eggs and brew coffee?? We waited patiently, only asked once and waited. All orders came out with cold seasoned fries and food itself was also cold. Service was confusing and disorganized. People running around in circles literally. The decor was BEAUTIFUL!!! Chairs were upholstered in a rich red velvety fabric, so comfortable with shades of Mediterranean charm throughout the eatery. We will try it again, but this time for their dinner menu. Hopefully next time I will have a more encouraging experience.

They made suggestions that we could eat family style and even though we didn't feel like eating we all ended up enjoying the trays of pita with chicken and beef skewers , humus, mezze along with Greek salad and some crispy thin crust pizza . All were delicious . It was followed up by desserts including a bavklava cake and tiramisu cake and crispy zepploles with chocolate dipping sauce. They are truly caring people at Fava who care about fresh ingredients, cooked perfectly and presented in such a way we wanted to try everything. I will be back under happier circumstances soon.

After I checked in, they told me it would be another 20 minutes and gave me a gift card, which felt a little odd. As I waited, it became clear things were really off. People were waiting a long time, orders were coming out wrong, and customers kept asking for updates with no real answers. You could also see staff going back and forth with the kitchen, which didn't help. I ended up waiting almost an hour and just left because it didn't seem like my food was coming anytime soon. In that whole time, I barely saw anyone actually get their order, and everyone looked frustrated. I get that it was Mother's Day, but the place wasn't even that crowded, maybe 15 people. They were still seating new customers and taking phone orders while clearly struggling to keep up with the ones they already had. Definitely a frustrating experience

I found this place by accident. I was heading down. Hylan, toward a diner that I like. I saw name…read moreon the sign, and it looked like a nice restaurant. Not knowing what type of a restaurant it is, I decided to stop in. What a pleasant surprise. It was a Turkish restaurant. There was a good amount of people in there, but it looked like I was the only "white boy." Everybody was very friendly, and the place was clean. I liked the atmosphere. I started with the baba ghanoush. I loved it. The flavor of the roasted eggplant was delicious. And the roasted flavor kept it from being too rich. It was creamy and delicious. I almost didn't have enough bread to put it on. And believe me, I was piling the bread high with that stuff. There was also a small bowl of marinated green olives on the side. I normally do not like green olives, but these were fantastic. The olive oil marinade kept them from being too bitter for me. For my main course, I had the Adana kebab. Ground lamb, red bell pepper, and paprika. I had a small, which was one kebab. It also came with a very nice marinated salad, and a decent size portion of rice, which was tender and had a good flavor to it. It also came with a red sauce and a tzatziki sauce.. the red sauce was too spicy for me, and the tzatziki I put some of it on the rice, and then the rest I dipped my kebab. The kebab wasn't spicy at all, and the red bell pepper, and the paprika gave it a great flavor, it was not gamey like lamb can be. It was also very tender. Everything was so good, I ended up finishing the entire dinner, and I was stuffed. I would've loved to try a Turkish coffee, but it was like 8 PM, and I didn't want to be up for the rest of the night... :). The price was reasonable. The only reason I'm taking off a star, is because they add an automatic 18% gratuity to the check, and then there's also a spot down at the bottom for a second gratuity. That's why you need to read your check very carefully. If you don't notice the automatic gratuity, you might end up paying a double tip. I thought the automatic 18% gratuity was more than fair. This was a great place. They also do breakfast. I would like to come in and try breakfast sometime. Thank you.

Parking is convenient, with spots available on both sides of the restaurant and across the street, which is always a plus in New Jersey. Once inside, the atmosphere completely shifts. The interior is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed, giving off an authentic and comfortable vibe. The staff were equally impressive--attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The food lived up to the experience. Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared, though I would say it leans toward the more expensive side. Paying 18% and then 2 % card fee seems a bit much on the top of that the courses were a bit pricey. That said, the quality is there. The fresh bread and olives served at the start were exactly what we needed--simple, delicious, and perfect after arriving hungry. Overall, a great find that rises well above its surroundings. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Now onto the main topic, the food: This is by far one of the better middle eastern/seafood restaurant in all of Staten Island! The appetizers that were amazing were the chargrilled octopus, which is a MUST-GET, and the half dozen oysters which was by far one of the sweetest oysters we ever had (it was so good we ordered 3 orders!) The tuna tartare, calamari, and lobster bisque were all decent but nothing too special. For entree, the lobster pasta was perhaps one of the best tomato based pasta I ever had! Although the amount of lobster in the dish was on the smaller amount for its price, the flavor was so savory, sweet, and perfectly tangy, highly recommend it! The sea bass was good according to my family, but the flavor was on the milder side in my opinion; they liked it nonetheless so perhaps it's just a personal preference at this point. The lamb shank I would not get due to how overpowering it was; the sauce was salty and intense, where it overwhelmed every part of the dish. It was unfortunate because the lamb was so tender and had a nice proportion between its meatiness and its fat content. The dry aged steak was only okay too, since the spinach was so watery it soaked the steak in its liquid (as you can see from the photo), which detracted from the dish unfortunately. Overall it was a decent dining experience, where some were amazing and others were less so. It's a pricey dining experience but if you get all the right dishes, it's worth the price tag! Definitely recommend giving Sea Bar a try and I can't wait to come back again one day to give them the five stars I know they can definitely accomplish! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:
