This was our first time and we tried the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich, the KOVA Breakfast, and spicy fries. We both asked for our eggs to be cooked medium and they were probably the closest to over medium we've ever received at a restaurant! Most of the time, they end up coming out over easy, so this shows their attention to detail. The food was absolutely delicious. We also tried an iced matcha and iced lavender mocha coffee, both of which were very good. The inside of this place is very clean and chic. The KOVA is a super cozy little brunch place on Staten Island. The first time we ever had it was during covid and we loved it so we finally decided to come in on a Thursday afternoon. There were just a few others there. The staff are so super friendly and attentive. We loved the beef roti a lot and the eggs Benedict was good. The cheeseburger was lacking no in seasoning. They were trying, so I absolutely don't fault them, but want to raise that they do need to tighten up service a bit (missed order, given a different order than asked, slow to receive order). One note that is if you sit in the back, the bench makes a lot of breaking sounds; and I promise the people sitting on it were of average build. The food; I personally ordered a strawberry matcha latte, hot and a lobster croissant. The latte was the perfect level of sweetness for me (just enough a touch more to mask the bitterness of matcha but enough for the matcha to come through). It was nice and creamy and a good size. The lobster croissant with fries was not lacking in quantity but a miss in flavor/execution. It wasn't bad, but didn't live up to expectations. The croissant was toasted to the point of being a bit past crunchy. And while there was a decent amount of lobster, I couldn't really taste the lobster with all strength of the dressing. Nice concept but too expensive for what it is. I got a $7 latte. It was ok. Not better than the one I get for $3.50 at my neighborhood store. Croissants were massive. They had a lot of cream inside and outside. They were a bit bigger than normal and to me, looked more like cakes than croissants. I got the chocolate and strawberry flavors (my kids tried them and liked them - I couldn't, gluten allergy:( ). The kids couldn't finish them and just had half. The cost of a croissant- close to $10 each! The place was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and I liked that Turkish tea gets served on a tiny Persian rug. We visited Kova right when it opened on a Saturday morning and were allowed to seat ourselves! The interior was small and a bit dim but had a nice ambiance. We were asked several times if we wanted any drinks besides water which seemed slightly persistent, but I do understand that they pride themselves on their beverages and coffees with latte art. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with spicy fries and the egg royale. The eggs benedict was solid, with a neat pile of smoked salmon, a perfectly poached egg, and the classic hollandaise sauce. It came with a side of breakfast potatoes which I found to be a bit bland and lacking. My boyfriend had the fried chicken sandwich and he said the chicken was nicely seasoned and not dry. However, he did note that some parts of the chicken tasted and felt undercooked. He also wished the spicy fries were spicier, but overall it was a decent meal. I enjoyed my time at The Kova, but the menu is limited and the food is average. Found this place after realizing our regular cafe wasn't open on Mondays and we are so glad we tried something new! Very warm and inviting cafe with friendly staff and excellent food. No staff was available to deliver them to the table. Food just stood there, getting cold, waiting on the counter. Small menu, simple breakfast/brunch dishes and beverages. $4 latte was tasty. $6 Sweet potato fries were light and crispy, however they desperately needed seasoning, as they were not seasoned at all. Used a lot of table salt & pepper. $12 beef rotti was flavorful--well seasoned, with some heat to it. However, this was very oily, so dab off that excess oil with a napkin. $14 pulled chicken sandwich with sweet fries was a good option. Filling, but not too filling. The pulled chicken was flavorful, slightly spicy, great seasoning. The sandwich is on the smaller side. Additional sauce will cost you $.75 per tiny plastic cup. read more

The potatoes were excellent exactly how I like them soft but perfectly browned and didn't taste like they'd been sitting out like at most diners. Came on a rainy Saturday afternoon, not too busy. The food came out pretty quickly. We got a chicken sandwich with sriracha mayo instead of wasabi mayo, spicy fries, and a bacon, egg, and cheese. The order of fries is a pretty big basket of fries. There's ketchup and condiments on your table. We also got a milk tea and latte. Both drinks were pretty big cups. The chicken in the sandwich was a very large piece and very juicy. The fries were seasoned well and had a kick to them, also some subtle notes of sweet flavor from the seasoning blend in the fries. We decided to split the Eggs Benedict and the Fried Chicken Sandwich. The Eggs Benedict was classic and everything you expect from an Eggs Benny. They offer two variations to the classic: spinach and salmon instead of Canadian bacon. The hash browns were flavorful and had chunks of fresh onion and bell pepper. The fried chicken sandwich is served with a mound of fried chicken tenders rather than a piece of chicken, and because of this I decided to tackle my half with a fork and knife. This is a super cute brunch place out on Staten Island. They do have about 3 tables for outdoor seating and it was pretty filled up by the time we got there on a Saturday afternoon. All the staff were wearing masks and the tables were decently separated from each other. They have a variety of drinks and food on their menu and you pretty much order inside and then they will bring the food out to you. We decided to go with the Fried Chicken Sandwich which was amazing. The chicken was super crispy, the fries were also super crispy and the flavor was absolutely amazing. Not to mention the portion size was HUGE. My boyfriend's sister went with the Egg Royale which she also liked as well. For drinks, I got the Lavender Latte which was super cute presentation wise and the flavor was not bad - I did wish they had slightly more lavender flavor too it. My boyfriend's sister got the Homemade Lavender Lemonade which had the opposite problem of mine which was that the lavender flavor was wayy too strong. Their ice coffee was pretty good tho. The only downside was that the food took quite a long time to come out for us. I believe they were making everyone's food together but we definitely waited a solid 45 mins - 1 hour for our food to come out. The Kova is a nice place, however the food is underwhelming. This is the French toast with fruits, a side of bacon, and an orange oolong latte. In total my portion of the meal is $25 (including tax). The price wouldn't be a problem if the food was not disappointing. You can count on two hands the amount of blueberries on my plate, and there is 1/4th of an orange on my plate. 1/4th!!! At least include a nice amount of fruit with the meal also the side of bacon was $4 for 3 pieces of bacon. How is that worth $4. Additionally the orange oolong latte was $6 for literally tea and milk, absolutely nothing extravagant or deserving of the $6 price tag. I don't even know why it was labeled a latte. Their lemonade is freshly squeezed, which is always a huge plus. For breakfast I chose their eggs benedict and my brother had their mexican omelette. I was very happy with my choice, and even happier at the end of it because I wasn't starving like I normally would after eating brunch. We stayed after eating to continue working and they were very welcoming. We stayed long enough to order another round of food. We decided to order their fried chicken sandwich and cheeseburger this time, and got an extra B.E.C for a friend who joined us at the cafe. My brother and I also ordered their coconut juice to share and it came with two straws and a spoon (to eat inside the coconut). Their fried chicken was so soft on the inside and absolutely delicious. If you like wasabi + mayo in particular, then you'd really dig this chicken. I ate their cheeseburger as well and enjoyed that even more than their fried chicken sandwich. They gave a huge portion of fries and I swear I almost could not move after consuming everything.
