On Sunday my Girls and I had our 5th annual Sister's brunch at Violette's and it was fantastic. The decor and ambiance is cozy and warm (or cool based on the time of year). There is the main dinning room, as well as three additional private rooms for different sized parties. Service was great, the hostess and our server Matt were so warm and professional, Matt answered all of our questions and gave excellent service. The food and cocktails were delicious. I had the Chicken and waffles, served hot and the chicken had a nice crunch, I also had to have the Sally's French toast with Unicorn sugar, yes, I said Unicorn sugar! My drink was coconut caramel latte from the adult iced coffees menu. So delicious. One friend had the shrimp and avocado toast, she said it was great, her cocktail was Pineapple Mango Mojito Mocktail. Another friend had the cherry peach waffle and the Drops of Jupiter, that cocktail had Galaxy dust! Yup galaxy dust. Check out the photos. read more

Came here for brunch with my friend and everything was great. All the staff were very nice, the service was great. The spot is cute and cozy. Love the vibe. There are good amount of choices and interesting options on the menu. We went with the patata bravas, chorizo & gruyere grilled cheese, and the French onion omelette. For dessert we had the cookie butter tiramisu. Everything tasted so good! The only thing is that I wished the portions were a tad bit bigger. But that's cause we are big eaters. read more

Wait staff were friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. For our appetizers, the meatballs and chicken pot pie empanadas were both delicious. Inside the empanadas could've been a little saucier but shell was crispy, light and the whole thing was very tasty. Violette's meatballs were excellent. For mains, we got lobster/shrimp risotto and the short ribs. Both were very tasty as well. Dessert was crème brûlée and I had a decaf coconut-caramel cappuccino. All yummy. Little pricey for people who don't drink alcohol (Total $225 for two people) but still was a pleasant experience. Definitely recommend. read more

We had a family dinner at Violette's Cellar for my mother's birthday, and overall it was a great experience. The vibes and decor were really nice - warm, inviting, and perfect for a celebratory dinner. Our server was excellent. He knew the menu well, answered all of our questions confidently, and was super accommodating, especially with my two baby nieces. He brought out crayons and printed coloring sheets to help keep them busy, which we really appreciated. The food was pretty good overall. Most of us really enjoyed our meals. The only dish that fell a little short was the shrimp and crab taglioni - it was surprisingly underwhelming in flavor compared to everything else. That said, it didn't take away from the night. I was there for a party, so my comments are based on a preset menu. For the most part, the food was good. Service was excellent as the wait staff were efficient and eager to please however they could. My one gripe, and it is a common one in Italian restaurants (I myself am Italian) is that they do not cook pasta properly with enough water. My penne pasta was stuck together and I had to seperate most pieces with a fork before I could eat it. This is something restaurant management should, but seldom does, pay attention to in the kitchen. An easy problem to fix. read more

Very interesting selections on menu, creative continental with an inviting asian mix to my surprise. I was in the mood for tempura sushi type rolls and was very happy to find them amongst the plentiful varied cuisine menu. Take a peak at the menu you will be pleasantly surprised. Wait staff was excellent, helpful and knowledgeable, not overbearing but quickly there when needed. Very happy to have selected Violettes for a lovely time with another couple. My husband's Duck breast, selection was thoroughly enjoyed by him and our friends, another couple, had the Shrimp creation and her husband the sea-bass. We had dinner during the week and perfect for us quiet and peaceful dinner allowing for great conversation. Ambiance was excellent, loved the lumbar pillows tucked in on the dining chairs, very comfortable. Very cozy inviting and lovely feeling. We will definitely be back.We all enjoyed Violettes. The annual Cocktails for Cancer Fundraiser at Violette's Cellar was a spectacular success. Peter Botros has again provided an excellent night out in a beautiful venue, great music, cocktail tasting and contest and a delicious buffet, all to raise money for cancer research at Northwell Health, Staten Island University Hospital. Peter Botros has long been an advocate for cancer research on Staten Island and he will continue his support until he has achieved his goal- "F-Cancer". Thanks to those who came out to support a great cause! The ambiance of the restaurant is very classy and elegant, providing a fine-dining experience with reasonably priced items! The selection is also very varied and they were almost all delicious! The truffled cream corn, lobster benedict, and burgers were all very delicious, with our favorite being the corn with its very potent and delicious truffle flavor! The specialized vacuum syphon coffee was also delicious and was enough for four medium sized cups, though it was made for four! The service was also impeccable with Mario and Kevin providing us with quick and considerate service with everything we requested! Our least favorite was the yuzu iced tea which was bitter and did not yield much yuzu flavor at all, so I definitely recommend increasing the yuzu concentration to make the drink more enjoyable! This underground restaurant has a cool ambiance and a very tasty menu to go along with it. The food had here was finger licking good! From the appetizers to the main course to the dessert... sooooo good!!! The first thing I notice about a restaurant is the complimentary table side bread. In this case they use poppy sweet rolls. They are freshly made and come out warm. As for the menu items, you will have a tough time selecting. If you come hungry you will leave stuffed! Not one bad dish had here. Even the house-made cocktails are quite delicious. With a cool ambiance like this I can see this being a Valentine's day sellout or if you are trying to impress someone special this will due the trick. Make reservations to be on the safe side. I got blueberry peach bellini, and my friends got their special of the day drink and margarosa. Love the warm flakey croissant, salad was good too. Charred octopus was nice with the cube of sausage or ham meat, quite salty combo. But the salad made it work. My friends loved the oysters. Lobster crostini was refreshing, It was 10/10. Lobster benedict was also quite salty. But sauce was good. Think my favorite is the wild mushroom garganelli, and added shrimp was so tasty. Love the texture of garganelli. It was salty tho. But i added chili flakes and it balanced ok. Dessert was a fail, creme brûlée so burnt and bitter, and cheesecake wasnt yuzu but rather panna cotta feel. read more

Went there Sunday to celebrate our anniversary and everything about our visit was perfect. We started with the fig flat bread and the roasted Brussel sprouts - both were yummy (I would recommend a more pungent cheese on the flatbread, such as goat cheese, but it was delicious all the same; sprouts could have been a bit more "roasted"). We both chose steak for dinner. My partner had the filet mignon and I had the skirt steak ... both tender as butter, and cooked to perfect - just like we asked. Not over cooked, and not done raw ... the skirt steak was unbelievably tender (which is not always the case with this cut of meat). We shared the tiramisu for dessert, which I'm generally not a big fan of, but this was the most delicious dessert I've had in a very long time. And a special shout out to our server June - she was very attentive and had the sweetest personality. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be coming back! read more

Went here for a birthday party and the food was delicious, the atmosphere felt very unique with the brick walls and fun lighting fixtures, and the service was great. The only reason I wouldn't give this place 5 stars is because the waiter did not make any mention of the gratuity being included already in the bill which I feel should be mentioned out of transparency, especially with a larger party where that could be hard to notice on the bill. Ive been here multiple times in the past and returned for a dinner this past weekend. In the past I have enjoyed their brunches - albeit it may end up being a little pricey. I love their warm croissants that they start you out with, their cookiebutter pancakes and their nutella cappuccino. I find their dinner menu to be quite small although they have a very large variety and amount of appetizers. This weekend our experience was OK. Firstly there was a lot of commotion as it appears as a few parties before us made incorrect reservations, we had to stand on the staircase for about 10 minutes before being helped and the hostess was rude and looked annoyed. (Yes there was a situation prior but we didnt cause the issue - dont take it out on us). Our server was very nice (white/grey hair) and was very apologetic about the wait. We waited a long time to be able to order drinks and in between we waited for apps, main and desserts. The manager also came and apologized for everything which was appreciated. The creme brûlée is good but the blue melted sugar on top throws me off. I think they are a better place for breakfast than dinner. This was my first time in a separate room due to a large party but I'm not sure if I'd want to experience that again. read more

I had my birthday here in 2021 and been here for brunch with one of my girl friends. Their cookie butter spiked latte was amazing and I also love their sangria. The breakfast plates are so delicious, and the patatas bravas are perfectly cooked and seasoned. They were also accommodating for my mom since she has parosmia from Covid and needed to tweak what was on the charcuterie board. Great and quick service! Come here on a regular day and you won't regret it, but don't come during a pre fixe menu time (ie: Mothers/Father's Day) and you'll be disappointed in the portion size, amount of people present, and last minute menu changes. I went to Violette's Cellar is past weekend with a part of 15. The restaurant was super accommodating to my big party. Everyone loved the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. The food was outstanding by far the best thing I ate was the crab cakes and the cookie butter pancakes. Not to mention the cookies butter tiramisu was to die for. The only down side I would say was our waitress she was not too helpful with suggesting dishes. But will definitely do back for another occasion. read more
