One and Done We went on a Sunday and expected it to be crowded, which was fine. We ordered at the counter: one avocado toast, pancakes (which had to be plain because they ran out of the other options), and French toast. We were told the wait would be about 30 minutes but could be closer to 20, and that our name would be called when the order was ready. We sat with our drinks and waited... and waited... and waited. Eventually I walked over to the wall of take-out bags and asked if our food was there. It clearly had been sitting there for quite some time based on the look of the bag and the reaction from the staff member. I could look past that -- it was busy, I get it. But when we got home, the food was completely inedible. The French toast was overcooked and rock hard. As we were trying to cut through it, we found a hair in the food. Into the garbage it went. Next were the pancakes -- burned on one side. Also went straight into the garbage. Finally we opened the avocado toast, which was literally half an avocado smashed onto a thick, rock-hard slice of toast. $65 later and every single item ended up in the trash. You need to order at the counter as they don't have table service. They will give you a number, and they bring out the food to the table. The drinks you need to pick up at the counter. I got it with oat milk, literally exactly how I like my shaken espresso. I had the French breakfast plate with feta cheese instead of goat. Always a fresh idea that I have trouble finding at other places on the island (ex: their seasonal citrus apple cider and my favorite pistachio latte) Their breakfast plates? The potatoes are always spiced so well, and the citrus vinaigrette on their side salad is something I wish I knew how to make myself. The presentation is also 10/10 every time. Their service? I've never had to wait longer than 5 mins for a table and their food comes out relatively quickly. The one time I did come and they had a wait, the owner started pulling out more tables and seating everyone himself. The ambiance? While the café still gets sunlight in the winter, I mostly come for their outdoor seating on the warmer days. I had also paid extra for a few add-ons, which were completely ignored. No apology, no adjustment, just shrugged off by the staff. The staff seemed more annoyed than concerned, and it honestly felt like they couldn't care less about getting the order right. For the price, you'd expect at least basic respect and edible food -- got neither. I won't be returning, and I'd suggest others avoid this place unless something seriously changes. It was so bad. They are rude and overpriced. The food was so burnt snd dry it was not edible. Wasted a lot of money and they laughed and were rude when I said something. My initial impression is that the items are quite pricey and the wait was a bit extensive. For example, a sandwich costing 15 bucks and waiting half an hour for our food to arrive. So given these two complaints, which is it still a 5 star review? That comes down to the quality and preparation of the food. It became evident that the long wait and the higher price tag was due to how much effort the chefs put into constructing the dishes. One by one we saw how each dish came out consistently beautiful and plentiful. The accompanying salad had just the right amount of dressing and paired perfectly as a sweet and tangy contrast to the savory main course. I got the world's best pastrami sandwich and although it could've use one or two more slices of pastrami, it was very delicious nonetheless with plentiful of avocado and egg to enhance its flavor profile. My wife got the crispy egg and brioche and the brioche was so buttery and soft with a generous amount of avocado slices. Both were very delicious and my wife even chowed down the salad when she normally NEVER eats salad. I also got the iced latte that I found a bit burnt, but that could just be my own preference. Overall it is definitely a great brunch spot and it's becoming more and more popular compared to earlier reviews. It's spacious but all the tables can be filled on the weekend. So come early or come during the weekday when it isn't as crowded. There's a lot of people here so be prepared to wait at least half an hour if you come on the weekend, it's worth the wait. They completely ignored my allergy instructions and added everything I clearly said I was allergic to -- which is not only careless, it's dangerous. On top of that, I found small hairs in the food.
