    Apple Crumb Pancakes

After watching my alma mater, Norfolk State University, take a tough loss to Wagner College in football, I was in need of a pick-me-up. I decided to stop at Staten Island Diner and ordered the Apple Crumb Pancakes. The pancakes were solid, fluffy, lightly dusted with powdered sugar, and definitely hit the spot. While I can't say I completely fell in love with them, I still enjoyed the meal and would recommend this diner to anyone in Staten Island looking for some good pancakes.

Stopped here for quick breakfast. This one will be short, nothing really wowed me. Service was ok, place is fairly small, food was just ok. Expensive for my liking, two meals, a coffee and oj was over $50. I might stop by again in the future but only if in need of a quick bite.

This place is a go to staple in the north shore. The service is quick and they have a great selection of breakfast you can enjoy. It's a humble place diner style. Usually the food is consistent but this time I came they were a bit off forgot something in my order hashbrowns over cooked. However they are usually super on point. I'll see you there oh and get the mimosa king size.

One of the smaller diners I've been but there is the feeling of actually eating at someone's house. The food here is on point. The portion sizes are large and the price is similar to other diners. Service is attentive and quick. The only downside is no parking lot. But there is street parking.

I liked it. A good breakfast spot with some updated takes on diner food. Inside is simple. Narrow interior so it's best for small groups. I got the sloppy breakfast. Real good. Plenty of meat and cheese. Great for soaking up last night's bad decisions. My friends got the Belgian waffle and bacon, French toast, and breakfast burrito. They liked them. Good portions too. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Had to be in Staten Island last week for an appointment. We found this place nearby. Decided to give it a try. Cute little diner with very nice menus selection and very good service. The omelettes and egg dishes were very good. Prices were reasonable. Only thing I was not too crazy about was the corn muffin. I felt like it was just very cakey but all in all cute place.

Enjoyed a great breakfast when visiting fam here in Staten Island! Will be back for breakfast in the future. LARGE portion sizes, food got prepped quickly, clean, friendly staff and made the whole experience great.

Food was not good today. Dont know what happened. Service was not great and mood/ambiance was off. Definitely disappointed. I always order Eggs LA LA they were terrible swimming in something that looked like Hollandaise Sauce . And my husband had hungry man bfast. Lol It had 2 eggs and 2 small pieces of bacon. Lol dude change the name!! No one came with water, and no one came to offer coffee refill. Definitely an off day.

Been coming here for years. The only decent diner on the island but May think twice about returning. Visited on a Sunday afternoon. Barriers between booths were dirty, as well as our table. Even one of our waters-we had to switch out. Not sure why it was so cloudy and dirt but you can see the difference between the two glasses pictured. Waiter was MIA. Had to ask other servers for napkins and silverware etc. Not sure if this was his first day on the job but these were customary requests. Also had to get up to pay the bill because once again-our server couldn't be found. There's a short Hispanic guy that's always around and eager to assist. Hes consistently amazing. This is a small place but i feel like the quality is lacking now. Food is average and the space is crowded. This isn't new but there really isn't a reason to return.

Hands down the best diner I have ever been to. Everything - service, ambience, the friendly waitstaff, the food, coffee, king sized mimosas, EVERYTHING was amazing. The portions are huge and filling, the ingredients fresh and prepared well. The coffee is hot and exactly what you want from a diner. If I had to criticize anything, it would be the parking situation (there's 3 spots out front - that's it). Just be prepared for that, but otherwise this spot is it. Will be back every time I'm in town.

Service was incredible, thanks to David. For food I got strawberry milkshake which looked very pretty, 4/5 a little too sweet. Pastrami sandwich is incredible and the curly fries with chipotle sauce. Very comfy spot with music and good food, definitely recommend it

Come for the menu, leave with a happy belly! This place is located in a small shopping strip with limited parking on a main road. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seats available for dining. The staff is on point and quite personable. The menu is going to make you hungrier than you are and you'll be quite pleased with any selection you choose. I was super impressed by the Nutella Peanut Butter Banana pancakes. They were packed with flavor and one of the most fluffiest pancakes I've ever had... moist and not dried out or overcooked. Definitely a nice brunch spot if you're in the mood. They serve alcohol and some signature drinks. Music is pumping for the outdoor diners and it gives off those good vibes.

Went here after running a 5K on July 4th and let me tell you, what a unique place! The servers were friendly and the owner (or at least someone who I think is the owner based on how he was stopping by every table to celebrate) was such a friendly fellow. He was pretty high energy. I had Mike's Omelette with a bagel. So perfect after running in the heat and needing to nosh on some comfort food.

He's a true gem. Unfortunately, today's experience left a bad taste. I came in for breakfast with my daughter, and the woman who served us was incredibly rude from the start. She barely acknowledged us, didn't engage at all, and was so unpleasant that even my 10-year-old said, "Mom, she's not nice." She dropped our food on the table without a word and walked away. When I asked for butter, she looked annoyed. I later asked for the check and a to-go carton, and she rolled her eyes. That was it for me. I let the hostess know on our way out, and she simply said the server was overwhelmed. I told her Juan is busy too -- and yet he still found time to stop by, smile, and even refill my drink, which our own server never once offered to do. I'm giving this visit a 1 star because of how unwelcome we were made to feel, but I want to be clear: Juan deserves a 10. He's a perfect example of what great service should look like. The other staff could definitely learn a thing or two from him.

Well, WAS is the key word. My husband gave it 3 star because of the mission of the Cafe, but the food he would give a 2. We ordered the cheese grits bowl for pickup. We got a container of cheese grits- okay but they needed salt and more cheese. A container of scrambled eggs cooked soft like we asked but they also needed salt, and a container with 2 sausage patties (which were flavorless). We also got a side of biscuits. Dry, seemed like the kind in a can- with no butter or honey, just a bunch of ketchup! My husband saw the banana pudding in the mason jar- so he added that to our order. $8. He went back in because he didn't see it. They said it was in a container. He returned and it was in there- in a very tiny container barely filled halfway- looking nothing like the one in the restaurant, and it wasn't that good, the bananas weren't ripe, and still hard. I'm thankful for the mission, so we may give it another try but maybe eating in is the way to go- we won't do takeout again!

I ordered a Greek salad with chicken cutlet (dressing on the side), and my friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich. My friend immediately noted that the chicken salad was overly salty and had an overpowering onion taste. She didn't complain--just quietly set it aside and didn't even mention it. As for my dish, I had about three slices of the chicken before realizing it tasted off--like it had been cooked in old oil or was leftover and reheated. Then I noticed the lettuce was soggy. When I moved it around, I saw a pool of water at the bottom of the bowl. It was clear the lettuce had been rinsed but not drained--at all. I showed our waitress, who casually said, "They probably didn't rinse it well enough." What made things worse was the price--$30 for a soggy salad and subpar chicken. We spoke with another waitress, who had it 'reduced' $9, which still felt excessive given the quality. I then waited nearly 20 minutes to speak with a manager. When a young woman finally approached, her attitude was immediately defensive. She questioned my reaction, even asking, "Why are you looking at me like I have five heads?"--in front of other guests. She was literally gaslighting me blaming me for my bad food experience. I admit, that was probably the look on my face.... dumbfounded that someone was speaking to me like that... She accused me of overdressing the salad (I hadn't used any dressing at all) and claimed our original waitress had offered me something else (she didn't). The manager refused a full refund because I had eaten part of the chicken and a few bites of lettuce--despite the dish being genuinely unappetizing. I was asking myself in the moment if this was really happening.... Over the past few years, our takeout orders have often been wrong, and the food has consistently been overly salty or just mediocre. We never made a fuss. Once, we received pita bread with a bite taken out of it--the owner denied it was teeth marks. Another time, my friend was served a completely burned burger. Still, we let it go. But this time, being treated with rudeness and condescension when I finally voiced a legitimate concern was unacceptable. As someone with 15 years of restaurant experience, I understand things happen--but hospitality and accountability matter. Sadly, Annadale Terrace no longer reflects the service, quality, or professionalism it once did. I won't be returning. 7/16/2025 Response to your response, which has the same exact tone as I experienced in person and now readers will see for themselves: Your reply is not only disappointing--it's wildly off-base and exactly how you'd respond. I've dined at Annadale Terrace for over 12 years and had more than 400 meals between myself, friends, and family. Do the math on how much we've spent over the years. We dined in/take out 3-4 times per month- do the math. Never--not once--have I asked for anything to be taken off the bill. So to suggest that I suddenly had an issue just to get a "free meal" is not only insulting, it's ridiculous. The lettuce was waterlogged and wilted and I pushed the lettuce to the sides of the bowl so I could see how much water was there. The chicken tasted off too--facts I pointed out to a second waitress who knows us, who actually came over to inquire, and has waited on us many times. She saw the dish herself and I took pictures of it. Instead of accountability or a sincere apology, your manager chose to gaslight me in front of other guests going so far as to say, "Why are you looking at me like I have five heads?" That wasn't service--it was condescension. To be clear, this was the one time I shouldn't have had to pay for a salad I didn't eat. No one offered me an alternative dish, and we waited an excessive amount of time for someone--anyone--to respond or come to the table. The manager never approached us at our table. Yes, $9 was removed from the bill--but without an apology or explanation, it felt dismissive and transactional. The waitress came back and dumped it on our table. That, combined with the tone and attitude we received, was what made this experience intolerable. I mentioned my background in the restaurant industry not to be lectured, but because it's exactly why I've always given you the benefit of the doubt when food didn't come out right, or take out order was wrong, cold or when service fell short. We let a lot slide over the years--a lot. So don't throw my experience back in my face as if I don't know what I'm talking about. This wasn't about a free meal. It was about your team's refusal to own up to a problem and treat a long-standing customer with even basic respect. Your dismissive response just proves my point: the quality--and the hospitality--at Annadale Terrace is no longer what it used to be.
