Og burger in lettuce, fries and dulce de leche shake.
Caitlin S.

The milkshakes are great! My friend and I got the og burgers. I asked if they could wrap mine in lettuce and they did. Thankfully a place that seasons there burgers. Only down side was they burnt my friends bun and the fries made us nauseous.

I have to give The Buttery a 10/10. It's rare that I get a burger and fries and don't feel the need to either season or douse them in sauce. Despite not needing it, the cashier remembered that I asked if they had honey mustard and it was unquestionably included in my order, which was appreciated. I ordered the Mild Chick Burger, the Sweetie Burger and Golden Tallow Fries and each of them were cooked to perfection. Everything that needed to be crispy was crispy and none were greasy. All in all, if you're in the mood for a juicy, flavorful smashburger and a cute, clean spot to grab a quick bite in, The Buttery is the place.

Sweetie

Me and my girlfriend came here and we split the Sweetie burger along with the mild chick chicken sandwich, some fries, a peach lemonade and a Salaam cola. We immediately regretted we didn't come here earlier. This place is delicious! The staff is very attentive, the vibe inside has a classic burger spot feel and overall the pricing is very fair especially if you pay in cash. I WILL be coming back here often, probably the best burger I've had in the island that isn't from a more traditional pub.

Cheesesteak and Raspberry Lemonade

I got a cheesesteak paired with the Raspberry Lemonade, It's dangerously amazing at a great price. Came with my family and we all left with full belly's. I definitely am coming back soon. The staff were kind and quick! The restaurant has a really great environment come by and try it out.

Menu with $1 credit card per item.

CASH ONLY OR SIGNIFICANT CREDIT PREMIUMS GrubHub premium for pickup even more crazy. So walk in with cash. Walked in (thankfully) and ordered classic dog and classic burger. About $20 cash with tax and a counter tip. New and clean store. Brought home and they were both ok to good for the price. Other options and cheesesteaks available which I will try one day walking in with cash of course. So they add $1 for each item for credit card. Yes each item no matter the price. CREDIT CARD PREMIUM 5-17% wow! Cheesesteak $18.95 to 19.95 "only" 5.2 percent Burger 10.95 to 11.95 9%! Dog 5.95 to 6.95 16%! Fries 11-17% Lemonade 14% Cookie 17% GRUBHUB PICKUP MORE CRAZY. 30-46% Premium! Yes GrubHub charges high percentage and many businesses do charge something more for the convenience but 46% is nuts. Dog 5.95 to 8.69 46%! Burger 36% Cheesesteak 18.95 to 24.94 31% Fries 43-46% A cookie 46%!! GRUBHUB UPDATE 10/19/25: Looking now, Grubhub pickup prices are now just $1 more per item. Better now. So just 5-17% similar to walk-in $1/item for credit. Unless that changed also.

About to hop a flight to NOLA from Newark so I hit up Tommy's Italian Sausage in Elizabeth. Wanted…read moreto also hit Jerry's but he closed the gate as I was walking up...maybe next time. I've had the sausage/dog combo before that's like an Italian Dog and I loved it but I had never just had some good old doggies here so I grabbed a couple. Went with 1 with red onions and mustard and 1 with chili, diced onion, and mustard. I love red onions, just a big nostalgia thing to my youth getting dogs in Coney Island at Nathan's. These onions were tasty. The chili wasn't what I was expecting but the crunch from the diced onion was welcomed. The rolls tasted fresh and the dogs had a fantastic snap and delicious flavor. No surprise here - Tommy's - Didn't Suck!

(And that ATM machine at the corner? It looks like it'll not only steal your identity but your soul as well.) My last visit (2023-ish) I tried their 'combo' (one hot dog, one sausage) which was... okay. But when they're slinging a double Italian hot dog? They're firing on all cylinders. Tommy's is not shy to pile a wicked amount of grub into that pizza bread. The hot dogs kind of get lost under a mountain of deep-fried and oily (but delicious) sliced spuds. (I do wish they weren't so stingy with the peppers and onions to really balance out the meal.) The 'Holy Trinity' when it comes to Italian hot dogs in North Jersey is a no-brainer... Dickie Dee's, Jimmy Buff's and Tommy's. (For me - no one comes close to Dickie Dee's but my one kid said Tommy's was his [current] fave.) As for that couple that came cashless? A good Samaritan behind me pulled out a wad of cash (it's not wise to pull out a fistful of cash anywhere you go but it's ESPECIALLY not wise when you're in the rough and tumble streets of Elizabeth, let's be real) and after swapping Venmo information everything was a-okay. Take-out/to-go only. Parking is atrocious. Guy behind the glass - always aces. (Oh, and... cash only!)

Here's a tangential yarn just to get over 100 characters. At the PNC Bank Arts Center they have…read morenormal concert price hot dogs but also a $2 special hot dog. They don't say up front what's different. My friend asked and wasn't deterred upon learning that it's turkey. At least it wasn't a Tofu Pup. In short, not all hot dogs are the same so I don't think you'll regret overcoming the $6.49 sticker shock at Nathan's. Who knows if it's a secret metallic component in the pan or the salt air but the dogs are different here. Get the grilled onions. The hot and spicy dog wasn't much different than the normal one. As with Ripper's in Rockaway, I give an extra star for public service. At Nathan's that means bathrooms that are cleaned often, helping address a severe imbalance in the neighborhood's crowd-to-bathroom ratio.
