Veal medallion special
April T.

This is a super cute Italian restaurant on Hylan Blvd. I love the clean and modern design of the space. We arrived with a large party but also at the same time as 2 other parties. The server was quick to give us water, but unfortunately there was only one server the entire time we ate. This made the ordering, requests, drink refills incredibly slow for all the parties not just ours. The server did tell us there were supposed to be 2 servers, but the other called in sick. The server did his best to accommodate everyone at the restaurant. We were quickly served beverages and bread for the table. Since we were a large party, we understood that it would take a little while for all the orders to complete. We got the seafood appetizer special, my husband got the linguini gamberi and I got the veal medallion special. My husband loved his linguini! Although the seafood appetizer was a bit pricey, the table did seem to enjoy it (I'm allergic). I though the veal was also quite good and a generous portion! Overall this restaurant is a nice local spot for Italian food in the area.

I haven't been to a restaurant that I really enjoyed every single item ordered in a while. We randomly chose the place based on its Google reviews and it didn't disappoint. I have lived in this area for a long time but this was the first time visiting Staten Island on purpose. Learned that it has some really great Italian restaurants. We'll definitely return. The staff were great and knowledgeable. The restaurant is very cosy and welcoming.

Heard good things about this place but was very underwhelming. The food is very mediocre but they offer a very generous portion for everything. The calamari is probably the best thing they served here. They also add operating fee to your tab, i guess that is a thing now.

I waited until I went to this restaurant a couple of times before posting my review because consistency is more important than a first impression. My first impression would tell you the place is beautifully and meticulously decorated for a good dining ambiance. The consistency I was happy to see is: The staff is super attentive and their service is nothing short of welcoming. The owner overlooking the operation and making sure everyone is happy is a nice touch. The food is outstanding in the few times I had gone. From salads, pizza, pasta, chicken and seafood no one in my party has ever had a meal they did not like. This has quickly become a favorite restaurant amongst my family and friends whom I've dined with. Lastly, the pistachio cream cake is so decadent and different, I was very happy the waitress recommended it. Must try *****

Rigatoni alla Butera

We have been here a few times and it's consistently excellent. The place is on the smaller side but its very comfortable and the space has a nice atmosphere. We have enjoyed everything we have tried so far.

Mussels and clams- not my favorite...

We came here the other day for lunch. It's very pretty inside and the staff was attentive. We really enjoyed the grilled octopus and the salad with beets. We added shrimp to the salad. It was delicious. However, we didn't like the mussels and clams dish.

We chose to dine on the first floor, which has a chic, elegant vibe with beautiful décor and a relaxing ambiance. There was a special set menu for the day, and the selections did not disappoint. I had the Burrata Salad followed by the Branzino--both were fresh and flavorful, and the portions were huge! I couldn't even make a dent in my main dish. My husband enjoyed the crepes and the seafood linguine, and he was just as impressed. The kids' menu was a cute touch, especially with the clever dish names. When I asked my 10-year-old what she was having and she replied, "I don't care," I was caught off guard--until I looked at the menu and saw that "I Don't Care" was actually the name of the mac and cheese! So creative and fun. Drinks were great too--strong and satisfying for my husband, and I was happy to see a solid mocktail selection for non-drinkers like me. The only downside? There were only two dessert options available. I was hoping for a bit more variety, especially since everything else exceeded expectations. Overall, it's a 10/10 experience, and I absolutely can't wait to go back!

I know some people might say, "Well, that's their job," but you can tell when someone really puts their heart into it and truly wants to make sure you have a great experience. We also had someone joining us later, and she never made us feel rushed or inconvenienced. She stayed patient, continued checking in, and was genuinely kind the entire time. The food was very good. I wish we had been sat in an area showing off more of the restaurant and its decor. The service was ok. It wasn't anything memorable. However, the owner (?) came over to us a few times to ask how everything was. We ordered a couple of cocktails. They were pretty pricey, coming out to ~$20 per drink. The branzino was delicious. It was everything I hoped for in a bite - buttery, soft, with some crunch and nuttiness from the hazelnuts. It all blended together very well. My fiancé ordered the maiale. His order was also very good and he enjoyed it.

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, I would be driving back to NY from Maryland and would pass through Staten Island so I checked earlier in the week if there were any reservations available. Each seating lasts 2 hours starting at 12:30pm through 7:30pm. I joined the waitlist for 12:30pm and I would receive a notification via text and/or email linking back to the reservation page to try to book a reservation once more on a first come first serve basis if there is a cancellation. Since I didn't get any notifications on Saturday, I decided to check the reservation website and saw that reservations for 2:30pm were available and I secured it. At the time I made the reservation, my credit charge was charged $87 per person, which includes a three-course meal, tax and tip. On the day of the reservation, I arrived to Nonnas of the World Community about 10 minutes before our reservation and found street parking. I went into the intimate 35-seat room and provided my name and was told to go back outside and wait a few minutes. At 2:30pm, we were seated and Nonna Rosa came to our table and greeted us. I immediately felt so warm and welcomed. Also, we made acquaintances with our table neighbors. Our server came and explained the menu. The menu consists of specialities from today's Nonna's and additional items on the house menu. Our reservation includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. Any wine, beer, coffee, and additional items can be ordered as well and paid with cash or Venmo. Nonna Sabbia from Italy was featured today with an appetizer: Panzanella Salad and two entrees and Nonna Yumi from Japan had an entree: Eggplant Dengaku and was in charge of desserts. Our orders for appetizer, entree, and dessert were taken all at once by our server. I ordered the Burrata, Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa, and Basque cheesecake. My husband ordered the Panzanella Salad, Spezzatino di Manzo, and Nutella Cheesecake. Food came out fairly quickly. A plate of focaccia and salad came out first. The focaccia was very soft and tasty. Then, the appetizers came out and it was very refreshing. I've had burrata a few times, but this was probably the freshest and best burrata I had. Then, Nonna Sabbia brought out our entrees and explained the ingredients. I really enjoyed the Orecchiette con Cime di Rapa; the pasta, sausage, and broccoli rabe was delicious. My husband's Spezzatino di Manzo was not as stewy as he hoped and some parts of his meal were uneven temperatures, but the beef was tender. The Basque cheesecake was smooth and creamy. The portions were a great size. Nonna Rosa and our server came by a few times to check on how we were doing and were both very friendly. I had a wonderful and memorable dining experience at Nonnas of the World Community. I loved the story, the mission, and the whole environment.

I scheduled time for the trip from Philly to Staten Island NY and made the reservation for lunch. You must pay for the prix fixe meal in advance when making the reservation. Lunch starts at 12:30 and they literally make you wait outside until exactly 12:30. Enoteca Maria is a small restaurant, with lots of superhero action figures scattered about. Lunch lasts for 2 hours, and you get to choose an appetizer, entree, and dessert from a limited menu. The meal starts off with a bread service. The bread was just OK. For my appetizer I had the meatballs. They were the delicious juicy meatballs you would expect from a nonna. My girlfriend has a cheese and tomato appetizer that she liked as well. We both could not resist that meat lasagna entree. It's huge! It's enough for two meals. After the first forkful I was in love. The best lasagna I've tasted. The noodles were so light, with the perfect ratios of noodles, cheese, sauce and meat. My only small complaint is that I wanted more meat. I ended up with some meatless bites. But the bites with the meat... Wow... I was so happy I was going to have plenty to take home for the next day. For dessert I had the carrot cake. After such a heavy entree I was glad the cake was a small piece. The cake was moist and provided a nice sweet ending to the meal. Enoteca Maria did not disappoint. If you've seen the movie and have been curious about what the real restaurant is like, make a reservation and find out for yourself. I think you will be happy with that decision. Unfortunately, the service left a great deal to be desired. We noticed that several people who arrived after us, apparently regular customers, received considerably more attention from the staff. Meanwhile, we struggled just to get the prix fixe menu, which was never offered to us until we specifically requested it. To make matters worse, customers who arrived well after us were served their meals around the same time we were. The service was so slow that I eventually had to remind our waiter that we had a show to attend. As a result, we had to take our tiny desserts to go and didn't even have time to enjoy a cup of coffee. The atmosphere was also quite loud, which took away from the overall dining experience. My impression was that if you're a regular, you're treated exceptionally well. If you're not, you're pretty much on your own. What makes this experience particularly disappointing is that the food was truly outstanding. I would have loved to leave a glowing review, but excellent food should be accompanied by attentive and consistent service, regardless of whether someone is a first-time visitor or a longtime customer. Such a shame, because the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I just wish the service had lived up to the food.

We looked for a spot. it's extremely hard to find parking in this area.. there is a small lot but seems like it gets filled quickly. We didn't have reservations but it was rather early and didn't think it would be hard to get a table. We walked in and a cute older man was energetically running around waiting tables and making drinks. I think he was the owner. He was funny and super nice. He seated us. There was two super large parties in the restaurant. They were loud and tbh obnoxious! We looked at the menu and we settled on some light options. Fried calamari 19 , a salad( Pera ) Bibb lettuce with Gorgonzola, candied walnuts , poached pears in a balsamic glaze 18 we added salmon and a meatball pie 21. Tiramisu So let me break it down for you. We had hot bread with a beautifully seasoned tomato sauce. It was really amazing! It really set the tone for the meal. The fried calamari was really good. Crunchy, fresh and not dripping in oil. Lightly seasoned and the sauce was perfect with the calamari. The only thing the portion was small for the price! The pizza came out and again this pizza was like a personal pizza again the price is off . I wasn't impressed with the cheese they used. It didn't seem like fresh mozzarella. First impression there was way too much sauce the crust was like a wafer. Super thin! I wasn't impressed. I took a bite and the sauce tasted raw ! Like not cooked. Had an unpleasant taste. I actually got a little nauseated. Moving on we order the Pera salad and wanted to top it with salmon. We expected a full salad and salmon right on top. It might have been our fault for not asking the price for the salmon but that's what we wanted. Anyway our salad comes and literally it's a side salad with a 3 or 4 oz portion of salmon. Super small. We couldn't believe it. We were still hungry so we order a tiramisu. It was light, fresh and just a simple dessert. This place is by far not a date place. It's loud and somewhat chaotic. You def can tell the owner is busting his ass. It's really unfortunate The food is not consistent with taste, flavor and consistency . Which is a shame. The price point of the food is way too expensive for a place on Staten Island! Speaking of price we get the bill and the price for two side salads and a small piece of salmon each 80 F'ING DOLLARS!! The guy literally ripped us off ! We pay the bill as we both shake our heads and walk out and the owner goes " hey make sure you tell 5 friends to come visit" yea sure and get ripped I would have loved to say! Patrons be aware!
