Came into town to visit friends. They suggested this place for lunch. There is parking in the bank across the street and we found a spot. Street parking is difficult. It is a smallish, cozy spot with about 12 tables on a corner lot. There is a tiny bar as you enter on the right. Service was prompt and friendly and we were seated at a round table by a window. There is a small bathroom at the back of the dining area which was clean and well stocked. We ordered a few glasses of Chianti and perused the menu. There were many offerings and a prix fixe for lunch. It is northern Italian. I got the veal chop and a side of pasta and started with a small Caesar salad. The salad was quite good and the veal was fabulous. It was pounded paper thin and covered with a very tasty breading. The dish was offered with a salad spread over top I asked that it be served without. It was very good highly recommend. Others got various pasta and seafood dishes and all were pleased. Horrible experience. The boss and the manager are very rude to woman. Had booked several events there, my last event experience made me and my family know never to go back. They are horrible and sneaky when it comes to the contract of booking an event. I had my baby shower there and had only 45 people so we knew we would have the downstairs. My last event was my daughters baptism and I was told if I had 60 people I would get upstairs thats why I booked it cause I had 60 people. Upstairs in my opinion is more modern and nice. It disgust me how they lie on the contract to get you stuck dealing with what you got. On the contract they (waitress April) makes sure to write 25 on the line for minimum people and leave max and kids line blank. She acts all nice doing it saying that shes just writing it because you have to have at least 25 to book the room. But thats the scam. They do this so that any other parties that book they also do the same and they can book a last minute party and cram you all on one floor. I was told id get upstairs floor, then day before when I dropped off party supplies they told me no I have downstairs, I had to cram 60 people including 12 children downstairs, or be sharing upstairs with another party. When I argued they then told me downstairs requirement is max 60 people so thats their catch as well, even if you have 60 you can be placed downstairs. Bottom line we were crammed downstairs, waiters were running inbetween our chairs and tables, very hectic, very tight. When I told the boss and manager I was upset and I have been a reoccurring customer they couldnt even throw in anything for how upset I was, not even a dessert. NOTHING. The owners response was "I have nothing to say sorry for" and all he could keep stating is "the contract." Hes arrogant and could only boast that hes opening another location. Couldnt even say sorry for how upset I was. I will never go back. Many others I know have also told me of this issue after expressing the issue I had with them. At least at the very least the owner could've said sorry. Very rude. Also after eating that day at the party ironically I was sick with food poisoning the next 4 days. read more

We were a party of 5 and were welcomed warmly on a slow Thursday night. Ordered drinks, sangria and hot antipasto dishes. Sangria was on the bland side and the calamari was on the tough side. Most of what was ordered on the table was decent. I had a sea bass special which was nicely arranged with shrimp, clams and mussels. The accompanying seafood was good but the sea bass was mushy. The sauce they used was also good. Not a bad experience but there are too many good Italian restaurants to return to this one. Service was spot. read more

I had my nephews baby's Baptism on the 7th of this month. I was one of the worst experiences ever. The staff was extremely rude and nasty to the point that you were afraid to say anything because you felt if you did the would spit in your food. The food was not worth the money they paid. Their party packages are terrible. If there was bigger portions for both the appetizer and pasta course, I wouldnt complain, but what was passed around was like 3 rings of fried calamari each. The stuffed mushrooms were very small and had a strange reddish sauce inside of them. The fried calamari tasted overly breaded with literally no taste of squid. The pasta was half pesto and half bolognese. The pesto was Ok, the bolognese was like 5 rigatoni with what they call bolognese, but its chopped meat sauce. The fish was good for the main course. Bass in a francese sauce. Which is why it gets at least 2 stars. Overall lacking in food area because of quality and small portions for the price. Small is ok if the food is excellent, but here we're talking the classic albanian run italian american restaurant, where everything tastes like what you'd expect from an average corner pizzeria kitchen, not a actual restaurant. Service was poor too with annoyed waiters simply for being there. I wouldnt go there for dinner unless someone paid me. However, that is just judging from the party. read more

We have been enjoying this restaurant for many years now. There is a great upstairs for a party. The atmosphere is bright and wonderful. On street parking is terrific, never had a problem finding a spot. The menu is the typical upper level, Italian food dishes. myself and my wife always enjoy the chicken franchise . They have a terrific price fix menu that includes salad and dessert. I would recommend a cosmopolitan from the bar but everything has been great. they are very well staffed, service is quick and efficient. Nothing was cooked well and the sauces were so disappointed that I couldn't eat it. They recommended an appetizer platter that spoke volumes, how hardly anyone touched it. Solid Restaurant. For appetizers we got the fried calamari which was a little chewy for my taste and fried mozzarella cheese which was very good. Service was outstanding as well. Water glass was never half empty and the food was outstanding and tasted delicious. I ordered the Grilled Bronzino with spinach. I started with a warm bowl of pasta e fagioli on such cold evening it nice to get a hug from eating a bowl of pasta and beans! Dessert was a must since I was having a birthday dinner. Go-to Italian restaurant in Staten Island! I come here periodically when I need to take people out to dinner and want a fine dining establishment with great Italian food. That's exactly where Cielo fits in. The restaurant is very upscale so you may want to wear a collared shirt if you're a guy. The food is always great when we come here. If I'm looking for a pasta dish you can't go wrong with Rigatoni bolognese. Their meatsauce is very well done and makes you want to scrape your dish once you're finished. They also have an excellent drink section as well with a bar area if you want to have a drink there while you're waiting for your table. The service is also very friendly and fast. You will often see the owner zipping around making sure that everyone is happy and gets seated/their food comes out in a timely manner. I had high expectations. They had a party downstairs so I had to lug our wheelchair upstairs. We went there with kids and the service was terribly slow. I began with a cosmo-it was excellent. Our table ordered fried calamari. It was horrible. It was chewy and only the rings. The marinara sauce had red pepper in it that was so spicy it wasn't edible. We didn't eat it. We all ordered the dinner special. Caesar salad was delicious. For my entree, I asked for vodka sauce on my pasta. AGAIN-the red pepper. My dish was ruined. Not only is this a great restaurant with AMAZING service, but it's the perfect place to have a party. I hosted a party of about 60 people upstairs. Just had a bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law and I can't begin to say how wonderful everything was. Servers were so helpful and attentive. Food was delicious, drinks were also. Ambiance was great, tables placed exactly where we needed them. They were there to help with anything we needed. My friends said there were 3 pork slices, cut very thinly & chicken parmigiana was decent, have had better elsewhere. The fish was the better option of the 3 as it had enough flavor but not fishy. Drinks: mini bar on 2nd floor. $7 for beer, $15 for jack & coke/ LI, $10 for shots; mixed drinks were 50% ice. More expensive than what you pay for in a city bar. Overall, the experience was good as it was my friends birthday. Went here with my parents and a friend last night for dinner. This was actually a third visit for us. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious! I had the oysters appetizer and grilled tuna steak which was perfect. The atmosphere is very pleasant and bright. We were seated upstairs by the window and just thoroughly enjoyed our night there. This place has a special from 12-3, Monday through Thursday, lunch for $10.95. There are only a few options though. You can get other specials and it will range up to $15.95. We started with the mozzarella corroza, very gooey good! Caesar salad was the best I have ever had! I had the chicken parmigiana and my friend had the penne tossed in spinach, oil, garlic and tomato. It was all very good. For dessert, chocolate gelato and tiramisu- which were and additional $2.50 each. It was pretty quiet, 4 other tables were being served while we were there. Had a family gathering to celebrate the Christmas season The restaurant gave us "family style" antipasto. 12 people per table, only one small piece of mozzarella, a spoiled roasted pepper, and little of anything else. Then came the pasta A sampler of pastas ... the dish consisted of only 3 rigatoni, exactly 4 penne, and some orzo. No salad Dinner: Offered fillet of sole, eggplant parm or pork chop I ordered the fish and sadly it was spoiled. Replaced it with a pork chop which in the restaurant haste, came out raw and bloody.
